Us Weekly: Duchess Kate is ‘ready’ to be the Queen Consort right now

Jennifer Lopez shows off a fancy fur vest while leaving a studio

Once you realize and understand the Embiggening Kate movement, you can’t unsee it. For the past year, the Duchess of Cambridge has arguably enjoyed the best press of her life. We can debate why that is – perhaps the open secret of William’s alleged affair, perhaps the presence of the Duchess of Sussex – but it’s really happening and Kate’s image is being whitewashed even more than before. Suddenly, Kate “has never put a foot wrong” and she’s “always behaved perfectly.” Suddenly Kate is constantly given the title Future Queen, like that’s going to happen next year or something. Queen Elizabeth II is still kicking around, and Charles and Camilla are next. It will be years. But enjoy this sugary piece of fan-fiction from Us Weekly’s cover story this week:

Queen Elizabeth II and Duchess Kate’s first-ever solo outing together at King’s College London in mid-March was designed to prepare the Duchess of Cambridge for her next big role: Queen Kate.

“Kate’s been taking on new responsibilities little by little over the last few years, so it won’t be a shock when the time comes,” royal expert Rebecca Long notes exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly. “William and Kate are the favorite royals to take the crown in many generations, so the people of the U.K. are very excited about it.”

Kate, 37, is as well — and the queen, 92, has made sure to put a personal touch on the future monarch’s training.

“She’s really taken Kate under her wing,” a source tells Us. “The two of them will often spend hours discussing royal life and the future of the monarchy.”

As for what Kate, 37, and Elizabeth, 92, do to strengthen their kinship. “Sometimes they’ll casually catch up over afternoon tea,” the source continues. “But other times, they’ll have more formal meetings, where the queen will give intense one-on-one training about taking on the crown.”

Though Prince William’s father, Prince Charles, is set to take over as king once Elizabeth retires, the Duke of Cambridge, 36, will be crowned upon Charles’ retirement. At that point, Kate’s title will also change.

“It’s taken a long time for Kate to get to where she is today,” adds a second insider, “but she’s ready.”

[From Us Weekly]

Narrator’s voice: “Kate was not, in fact, ready.” I mean, are we really pretending that Kate could seamlessly become Queen right now, that’s she’s “ready” to be Queen Consort? Of course not. You know who IS ready? Carole Middleton. But that’s a conversation for another time. Personally, I don’t even believe that the Queen has “taken Kate under her wing.” I’m not saying that as a diss on Kate either – I think William doesn’t want Kate to get “Queen lessons” or to take direction on royal life from anyone other than himself and Carole. The Queen might even want to do more for Kate or help her out more but William won’t really allow it. Sigh…

The photo on the US cover is … odd? Am I the only one seeing that?

As for Kate, I’m sure she’s “keen” to be queen consort, but Chuck is keener to be king, and he ain’t getting skipped. Waity will have to…… wait for it. At least she’s had practice.

    • Becks1 says:

RIGHT? That’s what I said. She doesn’t look like Kate. She almost looks like Crown Princess Victoria. Or maybe Princess Madeleine?

      • Lorelei says:

I thought it was Princess Mary!

Also lol at US assuming that Charles is going to “retire.”

      • Becks1 says:

@Lorelei – yes, I think you’re right, its closest to Mary.

The very fact that we are discussing which other European royal they made her look like on the cover is pretty funny, lol.

      • Bettyrose says:

        Lorelei,
That wording was bizarrely macabre. Is there no editorial review as US Weekly?

      • BayTampaBay says:

Bettyrose, The third rate hacks at the Daily Fail must be moonlighting at US magazine!

      • jan90067 says:

Charles “retire”? 😂😂😂😂😂😂. They’ll have to pry the crown jewels out of his cold, dead hands! lolol. He will have a total death grip on that crown/scepter/orb! 😄

      • VintageS says:

I thought she looked like Julie Andrews.

      • Mirage says:

Looks like her Mme Tussauds wax representation.

    • launicaangelina says:

As soon as I clicked on the story, I said out loud, “Damn! They shopped the hell outta her!”

    • Seraphina says:

I too think the photo has been terribly redone. Thought she was Victoria or Mary. Or maybe a mix of both. Good Lord, her whitewashed history and never growing older photos. 🤨

    • It looks just like an old photo I’ve seen many times of Julie Andrews! I’d bet money they used her as a template. Lol

    • notasugarhere says:

So photoshopped as to be unrecognizable.

    • Nicoleduff says:

Am screaming at at least she’s had practice 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    • SpilldatT says:

OMG that photo! Who is that even? Did they pick a model because they couldn’t use an actual pic of Kate?

    • Redgrl says:

      I saw Julie Andrews too! It’s creepy….

    • Betsy says:

Some of the worst photoshop of late! That’s not her teeth, either.

    • marmalazed says:

I totally saw Julie Andrews too!

    • FluffyLaundry says:

A fake mother and a lazy, worthless woman who has never worked. She’s not suitable to be Queen of anything, save welfare.

  2. Weaver says:

Is there any way to prevent that hunched posture the Queen has as you age or is it inevitable? It looks really uncomfortable.

    • Chaine says:

IDK, calcium supplements? Chiropractic adjustments? Hanging upside down on an inversion table?

    • Who ARE these people? says:

It depends if she has some degree of osteoporosis it could compress the upper spine. There’s also the role of muscle. Prevention involves keeping one’s bones strong and the muscles supportive and practising good posture. Weight bearing exercise and a focus on the back. She’s doing okay for her age and we don’t know what she’s dealing with.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

Follow recent understanding on the role of calcium supplements, vitamin D etc. It’s not that simple.dietary calcium intake still best absorbed. ..though some have medical issues that can impair absorption.

    • MD says:

My mother-in-law, who is 80, stands ram-rod straight because for her entire life she has wanted to avoid being completely stooped over in her old age, as her mother was. So she has literally made a conscious effort every day of her life, which sure seems like a lot of effort to me! She also worked out consistently for years, and still exercises regularly–even after having a terrible bicycle accident a few years ago.

      • Lady D says:

One of the seniors I volunteer with is in his 90’s and his posture is ramrod straight. He gets called the General simply because of his bearing. Posture goals for sure.

      • Kendra says:

80 isn’t 92. My grandmother stood straight at 80 too but doesn’t in her 90s.

    • Mego says:

Yoga. Just what Meghan and Doria are doing. The bent over syndrome is common in petite women as they age.

      • jan90067 says:

Can you imagine Kate at 90, considering how much she hunches now? (Making a mental note right now to remember to throw my shoulders back/tuck my chin more often than I do now! AND MORE BACK AND SHOULDER WORK!)

      • Mego says:

Hi Jan, I would be surprised if she was given her height and the fact the she exercises regularly. The Queen never had poor posture but was petite thus making her vulnerable.

    • A Finn says:

That “hunched posture” is also because TQ has big breasts. I have them too and it’s hard to maintain good posture (and I’m only 38…) 😩

    • Sue Denim says:

Ballet…look at 90+ ballet instructors/former dancers and be inspired 🙂

    • FluffyLaundry says:

At least she has worked and never ruined the Succession with 3 fake royal babies.

  3. Wow says:

I’m a bit ignorant on UK royalty. Are they just going to skip Charles and go straight to William when the Queen dies? It always seems to be talked about like hes next up.

    • Becks1 says:

No, you’re not ignorant. They are not going to skip Charles. Some just like to pretend Charles’s reign is never going to happen, or its going to be super short.

      • Muffy says:

Charles’ reign could be short. The man is 70. Say TQ lives another 5 years (making her 97?), Charles takes over at 75, and reigns for 5 years. That means William and Kate are rulers in 10 years.

      • Becks1 says:

@Muffy – that could be, but if Charles takes over at 75, and lives to be 97 (going by his father’s current age and the age we’re assuming the queen passes), then he’s king for 22 years and William has almost thirty years from today until he’s king. Heck even if Charles passes at 90 then William still has 20 years to go.

Obviously none of us know how long someone will live, but given the longevity in the Windsor family, I think its likely there are still a few decades between Kate and being QC.

      • FluffyLaundry says:

Charles is the last true royal, because Billy knows he’s not a true father and is cheating the Succession.

    • Nic919 says:

They are never going to skip Charles. The entire point of hereditary monarchy is to follow primogeniture and if they can skip Charles, they may as well skip to Harry.

Besides the Queen is Queen regnant not Queen consort. Kate should be following Phillip if anyone.

    • Ainsley7 says:

They can’t skip Charles. Princess Diana, in her famous panorama interview, said that Charles wouldn’t be a good King and she thought he should be skipped over for William. It’s been treated like a possibility ever since. My guess for why they skipped over pushing Kate as Princess of Wales and straight to Queen is Camilla’s health. Camilla has been slowing down, especially international travel, and that means Kate will have to step in where required when Charles is king. The monarchy likes continuity and most people in the U.K. have only ever had a Queen. They’ll want to keep that symbol going even if Camilla and Kate are only consorts.

      • Tina says:

Camilla did more engagements in 2018 than Harry did and only one fewer than William. She did twice as many as Kate. Camilla isn’t slowing down and she will be Queen Consort.

      • notasugarhere says:

She didn’t say he would be a bad king, that’s just how people perceived it. Diana was at one of her pinnacles of bitchiness during that interview, saying that William should inherit not Charles.

BASHIR: But you would know him better than most people. Do you think he would wish to be King?

DIANA: There was always conflict on that subject with him when we discussed it, and I understood that conflict, because it’s a very demanding role, being Prince of Wales, but it’s an equally more demanding role being King.

And being Prince of Wales produces more freedom now, and being King would be a little bit more suffocating. And because I know the character I would think that the top job, as I call it, would bring enormous limitations to him, and I don’t know whether he could adapt to that.

BASHIR: Do you think it would make more sense in the light of the marital difficulties that you and the Prince of Wales have had if the position of monarch passed directly to your son Prince William?

DIANA: Well, then you have to see that William’s very young at the moment, so do you want a burden like that to be put on his shoulders at such an age? So I can’t answer that question.

BASHIR: Would it be your wish that when Prince William comes of age that he were to succeed the Queen rather than the current Prince of Wales?

DIANA: My wish is that my husband finds peace of mind, and from that follows others things, yes.

      • Ainsley7 says:

@Tina Camilla is slowing down by her own standards. Comparing her to others doesn’t change that. I never said that Camilla wouldn’t be Queen. I said that her health might be getting to the point where Kate has to stand in for her when she can’t be there.

@Nota I consider things like “I don’t know if he could adapt” to be as good as saying he won’t be a good king. It’s what she wants people to take away from her statement. She just wants it to sound like she’s merely concerned and not being completely horrible.

      • notasugarhere says:

        That is your interpretation.

      • Tina says:

@Ainsley, Camilla just completed a lengthy tour of the Caribbean and did a tour of Australia last year. There is no reason to suspect that her health will prevent her working as long as Charles does, if not longer.

      • SK says:

This is some very creative fan fiction and not at all how the monarchy works.

    • Himmiefan says:

Nope, Charles is next, and Camilla is up next as Consort. Personally, I think Camilla will do a much better job as Consort. Kate still has to practice the work thing.

      • SpilldatT says:

Camilla does a LOT more work than Kate. And she will make a better Queen Consort to Charles for sure.

Kate can barely work one day of the week, she isn’t going to be ready to be anything for another 30 years.

      • norah says:

camilla has done more engagements than kate already –

      • FluffyLaundry says:

Yeah, Camilla is not a fake mother.

  4. Eliza says:

Kate does not want to be Queen Consort right now, she doesn’t even want to be Princess of Wales now. She enjoys her time with her kids too much. They’re on their 3 week break right now (seriously, they get a 3 week break for spring, how do parents work?) and she’s hiding and enjoying every moment. I think she enjoys her role as mother, Williams wife, and country gentry. The actual cutting ribbons and cameras, not so much. She definitely can wait for all of it.

    • CherHorowitz says:

Agree! I think she likes where she is, minimal work, lots of down time and time with the kids, but with all the status that comes with being future queen. She has what she wants out of it all already surely?

With regards to the easter holidays, most people just have 2 weeks for Easter break – which is hard enough to sort out work wise, trust me! – but some private schools have 3 weeks. In most cases there will be one nonworking parents anyway or theres plenty of money for holiday clubs.

    • Sash says:

      Yep, agreed.

  5. DC Cliche says:

What Kate Wore retweeted someone who said it looked more like Queen Mary than Kate, can’t unsee.

  6. Zapp Brannigan says:

Who is that on the cover? It is like they blended her face with Queen Mary of Denmark.

  7. JAGirl says:

Lol. These types of articles make her come off very insecure and very pretentious.

Meghan really has shaken up that family!

All the best “future queen Kate”,

  8. Becks1 says:

First, that cover is so photoshopped, in a weird way. Like, Kate doesn’t look like Kate there.

Second – William will be crowned upon Charles’s retirement?? Does Charles know he’s supposed to retire in the future? Bet that’s a surprise to him.

Third – LOL for days at this whole story. This is literally just a screaming reminder that KATE IS THE FUTURE QUEEN CONSORT NOW SHUT UP ABOUT NORFOLK.

    • Original Jenns says:

My first thought! Apparently, Charles has a mandatory retirement age. I’d bring back the royal food taster if I were him 😉
What I believe is attractive to William about being King is that he will then answer to no one. As King, he will decide his role and what being King means.

    • ADS says:

“This is literally just a screaming reminder that KATE IS THE FUTURE QUEEN CONSORT NOW SHUT UP ABOUT NORFOLK.”

For real. It really does make me wonder if there is a really dangerous scandal re this whole Norfolk situation. I.e. Wills and Rose/her sister/whoever genuinely caught feelings for each other to the extent that she may be his Camilla as it were. So Kate is being embiggened by powers beyond Wills (BP?), to send a message to Rose et al and to reinforce the idea that Kate’s role is not in danger. My feeling is that perhaps it is in far more danger than initially thought.

I’m gonna say it: I bet Kate never becomes Queen Consort. Not because Wills won’t be King – he will – but because they will have divorced by the time he is crowned.

      • Beach Dreams says:

Any hopes they had of the story dying overseas are a pipe dream now because the French media is reporting on it. Peter Allen (a reporter living in France) tweeted that the big outlets are running stories on the alleged Turnip Toff affair: “The upmarket Vanity Fair France is now running a salacious feature on Prince William’s private life. Follows mainstream newspapers such as Nice Matin & le Dauphiné libéré doing the same. Odd to see French media leading coverage of such matters. Must be very sure of their facts”

      • Some chick says:

Oh how I wish I could read the French coverage!

Does anyone know what they are saying?

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

William could dump Kate before he is crowned. Or the people might get rid of the monarchy before William is crowned. Or William could die before Charles does. Or Kate could die before Charles does. Or Kate could dump William before he is crowned (least likely of the scenarios, I know!). But there are real possibilities that could occur which would result in Kate never wearing the crown. It’s too soon to tell.

      • Betsy says:

I don’t applaud Kate for doing nothing by waiting for ten years, but if that happened…. owwwwww.

  9. Blanca says:

Sure, Jen. Where is the famous Britan broken poroject? LOL

  10. Loretta says:

    Awful cover

    • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

I don’t get it either. Kate’s so pretty and there’s no reason to do this. Is it a filter called Queen Consort Bland?

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

To quote the Queen (on Kate’s wedding dress), “Hideous!”

  11. Tina says:

“William and Kate are the favorite royals to take the crown in many generations, so the people of the U.K. are very excited about it.”
LOL. Sure, Becky. You know what I’m actually excited about? The EU has thrown us a lifeline to avoid a no-deal Brexit, for the time being anyway.

    • notasugarhere says:

I don’t see how it is going to work. The required elections for seats in the EU parliament, messing with how all the other countries have already re-drawn their districts and who will run for which seat with the election in May. Plus the UK Commissioner to the EU position that has to be elected AND has a mandatory five year term. The extension looks like an enormous mess.

      • Tina says:

You’re absolutely right, but a no-deal Brexit would have been a bigger mess. It still might happen, but we should at least get through the summer tourist season.

      • notasugarhere says:

My concern is the ongoing legal requirements to the EU plus the ability of the UK to throw spanners in the works of the EU. All votes required to be unanimous.

There were rumors of a “Boris” clause which didn’t end up happening, to tie the UK’s hands and require them to stand to the agreement and not mess things up for everyone else. What happens if a wingnut PM is put in charge before Brexit is completed? I just see more chaos in the future. I fear the EU is living a fairytale, thinking this extension will cause a people’s vote that will end Brexit.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@notsugarhere, Have many people changed their mind about BREXITing?

      • Rae says:

I think the delay has a massive chance of bringing on a revocation of article 50. It gives us plenty of time to take the vote back to the people and, considering even some Brexit stalwarts are now sick of the mess and just can’t be arsed leaving anymore, I think remain would win.

As for Kate being ready…is “ready” the new “keen” now?

      • Tina says:

The EU knows all that, but they don’t want to risk being seen as the bad guys in the event of a no-deal Brexit. I don’t have any faith in our politicians, but even Jacob Rees-Mogg knows how bad it would look to actually cause chaos for the EU for no other reason than that we can.

      • BayTampaBay says:

Every time I see a picture of this Jacob Rees-Mogg person I just crack up laughing as he looks like the “dimwit” character on every generic TV sitcom.

      • PrincessK says:

Faux posh Mogg is such a fake, I bumped into him in central London, just after one of the big votes that in Parliament on Brexit. I was actually looking for directions to Westminster Library. He was pretending to be on his phone as famous people do in public, and he gave me directions in a fairly normal voice. He thought I didn’t know who he was, but at the end I told him what I wanted over Brexit, and he very sharply replied, “Well I do!”, and quickly turned on his heels.

  12. ShazBot says:

Um, can we please get some respect for The Queen and her position. She would be training WILLIAM, not Kate. Kate’s role as consort will be nothing like the Queen’s role.

    • Snazzy says:

Yes exactly. She should be training the future monarch, not the monarch’s spouse

    • Prairiegirl says:

Came here to say this. If she needs ‘consort training’, Kate would be tutored by the current consort: Phillip (LOL).

    • L84TEA0 says:

If Kate should be training with anyone, it’s Prince Phillip.

    • Becks1 says:

This is a really good point. Kate’s role in the future is going to be very different from QEII’s role. I don’t think that means that time spent with the Queen or being tutored by her on royal duties etc is a bad thing (to the extent that’s happening), but it really is William who needs to be spending time with her and learning the ropes.

    • Mego says:

Was just going to chime in and say the same thing. The Queen would be meeting with William giving King lessons as he will be the reigning Monarch – not Kate. US Weekly is really showing their ignorance about the British Monarchy. They make it sound as though Kate will be the equivalent of the Queen. If anything Philip should be advising Kate.

    • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

Yes to you all. Such a good point. If you really want to talk about someone dedicated to their duty and rarely putting a foot wrong it would be TQ.

    • Betsy says:

I think US Weekly thinks is just a vagina issue. Never mind the fact that the Queen is the reigning monarch.

  13. Megan says:

    This story is truly laughable.

  14. Rapunzel says:

Tinfoil hat theory: Big Willie is trying to convince Charles to retire and let him be king quickly. Chuck is all, “lol, son, no way.” Hence rift with Harry, who is mad at Will for trying to put dad out to pasture. Hence smears of Meg, and now Turnip toff rumors in retaliation. Will now trying attack with his only weapon: Kate’s popularity. Expect more embiggening.

This also explains Kate feeling happier; Will is leaning on her. It’s them against BP and Charles.

  15. Bee says:

The tweaks they’ve done to her face on that cover literally make her look like a completely different woman. Yet, I can’t put my finger on what is so “off” about that photo.

    • Becks1 says:

her mouth, teeth, nose and eyes. I think. They also smoothed out her skin and brightened it, but I consider that standard for a magazine cover. I think they tweaked everything “just a bit,” but the overall sum of the parts makes her look…not like Kate. And she is a pretty woman without all the tweaking, so I cant figure out what they were trying to do.

      • YankLynn says:

Wow, that was a bad/heavy handed photoshopping on Kate’s face. Turned her into another person entirely. I don’t really see Will campaigning to be King sooner. He can’t even cope with his Duke lifestyle and at 30 something years old is still confused about what is royal work anyway. I’m not British but wouldn’t you like your King less confused about a few things …

    • Boudica says:

The hair’s parted on the wrong side, too, and I don’t think those are Kate’s ears, and her dimples have gone. It is a very weird job of photoshopping because the result looks like a totally different woman.

  16. Heather says:

Kate will be Queen Consort. So shouldn’t Prince Phillip be teaching her the ropes? Shouldn’t the Queen be taking William “under her wing” or whatever? This makes no sense.

    • Prairiegirl says:

      Yes. Phillip’s her equivalent.

    • Ainsley7 says:

There are some things that are seen as a Queen’s job whether she is The Queen or Queen consort. So, it makes sense. Philip did alright in the end, but I don’t think Kate should learn from him. I think she’s already done a better job in a few areas anyway. I think the Queen might have wished that Philip was lazier at times. He wouldn’t have made so many racist, bigoted and just plain rude remarks over the years. He certainly didn’t make it easy for her.

      • Nic919 says:

Kate could stand to learn his work ethic. She’s done little in eight years whereas Phillip set up programs like the Duke of Edinburgh awards which have actively helped kids for generations. He has actually done something about trying to help the “broken kids” as opposed to sending PR notices about thinking about working on something.
Just because Kate hasn’t said anything openly racist isn’t grounds for praising her. We cannot be giving her credit for something so basic.

      • Lady D says:

“a better job in a few areas” Dying to know where Kate outshines Phillip. Please list an example or two of how or what Kate has already done better than Phillip.

      • Heather says:

@Lady D the only thing I can think of is that she hasn’t said anything that put anyone up in arms over.

      • notasugarhere says:

Then it would be Camilla being trained by the Queen, then Camilla training Kate for those “things” you insist cannot be done by a male. Heather, her first speech about mental health set people off because of her comments implying children from loving families do not develop mental health issues.

      • Heather says:

@nota I had forgotten about that!

      • notasugarhere says:

        Prince Philip
        22,191 solo engagements
        637 overseas visits
        5,493 speeches
        14 books written

The Queen speaking about Prince Philip

“During these years as your Queen, the support of my family has, across the generations, been beyond measure. Prince Philip is, I believe, well-known for declining compliments of any kind. But throughout he has been a constant strength and guide.”

“All too often, I fear, Prince Philip has had to listen to me speaking. Frequently we have discussed my intended speech beforehand and, as you will imagine, his views have been expressed in a forthright manner. He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim, or we shall ever know.”

“I take this opportunity to mention the strength I draw from my own family. The Duke of Edinburgh has made an invaluable contribution to my life over these past fifty years, as he has to so many charities and organisations with which he has been involved.”

      • Becks1 says:

I love that @nota has started bringing receipts to back up her comments, lol.

  17. gingersnaps says:

Sigh, what a load of crock this is. Also, that photoshopping is so bad that I think they are mocking her, that and the article.

  18. Jaygee says:

This article is rather inaccurate. The queen will never retire. Full stop. I suspect Charles would not either. That seems ingrained in them both.

    • ADS says:

Plus if they all started retiring and opting in and out at will, we would quite quickly start to ask why we have them at all rather than an elected figurehead that we can democratically choose.

  19. Lightpurple says:

Does Charles know about this retirement thing? The man has been waiting for DECADES! He’s not going to give it up after a year or two. And his maternal grandmother lived to be over 100. His father is fast approaching it. His mother is in her mid-90s. The guy isn’t going to retire at 75. Wait your turn, Kate!

BTW she’s only now have events with the Queen? Sounds like the Queen wasn’t keen on spending time with Kate

  20. line says:

“William and Kate are the favorite royals to win the crown for many generations, so the British are very excited about it.”LOL: They are not the favorite royals of the British crown and no one is keen to see them rise to the throne because there are other more important things for the British like Brexit, health care …

The media must stop this whitening of Kate’s image. The Internet exists, and no one will forget that since the marriage, she was lazy in these royal duties, unable to deliver a speech and she had many to several problems of wardrobe.

    • Heather says:

“Win the crown”? Are they planning on taking it by conquest? Won’t that require some initiative and energy?

    • V says:

Well, the queen,Harry,W&K are the favorite royals, according to the last polls,so W&K are indeed favorite royals, certainly more well liked than Charles.

    • norah says:

if she is so lazy being a duchess of cambridge what happens when she is the queen consort ? last time i checked the number of engagements increases the higher the rank – imagine if she had to work at least 3 or 4 times a week or a month and do lots of prep work?

  21. Kittycat says:

Kate is not ready to be a duchess but Queen yes?

  22. JadedBrit says:

I can’t see this going down well with HM, somehow…
Given the unreal longevity of the family, Charles may live (and reign: he has waited an awfully long time to do so, after all) until his hundredth birthday. Kate will have a long time to wait to become Queen *consort* (will she take up carriage driving, one wonders? She should be conferring with the present consort, particularly in regard to a work ethic: Phillip at least saw active service, whereas Kate… Well, bless her, thinks sad thoughts about the children of Britain and needed three years of instruction to understand the principles of child development; she’s had help with, practically, everything. Initiative does not appear a strong suit – although that is not what Mrs Bennett bred her for). I doubt that Charles would be amused that the article implies that she is so eagerly anticipating his death, either.

  23. Digital Unicorn says:

Yeah right I have several bridges to sell you. Kate will be at least mid 50s plus before she get anywhere near that throne. When Chuck does become King he’ll be there for at least 20 years. That family have looooong lives.

  24. Mego says:

One of the worst photoshopped hatchet jobs I’ve ever seen. US Weekly is embarrassing.

  25. Chef Grace says:

    Game of thrones anyone?
    LOL

  26. Jumpingthesnark says:

Heh! Charles and Camilla ain’t gonna be happy about THIS headline! Cueing up the “Kate know your place” articles from the RRs about this headline like they have for Meghan, in 3-2-1. Oh wait……….

  27. Weaver says:

Ugh. Kate’s “Little Girl on Christmas” outfits are so annoying.

  28. OriginalLala says:

This article is wrong – kate will not inherit the crown or the throne. She will not be the monarch. She will be like prince Philip. The media is going so overboard on their praise of Kate that they are painting her as the next monarch now… *insert massive eye roll here *

  29. Mumbles says:

Gawd, Team Kate can’t have it both ways. For years she dressed like a 20-something and did little to no work. Now she’s chomping at the bit to be Queen Consort? And yeah the Queen doesn’t really care. She’ll be Charles’s problem.

    • Chrissy says:

And she’s still dressing like a twenty-something with her flownsy skirts and seems to only be working more because her SIL really did hit the ground running.

      • Becks1 says:

And let’s be clear, she’s not actually working more. I think several have said that she has worked 14 days this year. 14. That’s three days a month. That’s ludicrous.

  30. topsy says:

Keen Katie and her Klan need to pump the brakes with a quickness. Prince Charles is the future king and his wife is the future Consort. Attempts to ghost him to big-up Normal Bill and Keenie will not be viewed kindly. They do NOT want to make an enemy out of the FUTURE KING, especially when he is clearly so fond of his second son and his second son’s wife.

  31. notasugarhere says:

This is the same tripe the Aussie tabloids print about Crown Princess Mary all the time. Margrethe is training her to be QUEEN, always forgetting that Fred is the future monarch not Mary.

    • BayTampaBay says:

I think one hack writer wrote one story with name blanks asking “inset name here” and sold it to at least one tabloid in each country. LOL! LOL!

  32. Bluthfan says:

How is Kate ready to be QC? The woman is so lazy she’s only done 14 events in 4 months. There’s no way she could handle Camilla’s schedule let alone Phillip’s before he retired.

  33. Anon says:

    Dear Carole Middleton:

Please do tell your daughter to put away my tiara and let her know that she will assume the title of Queen Consort when it’s *her turn.* Which will be many, many years from now. By the time she ascends the thrown (pun intended) she will be so old no one will even remember this puff piece that was clearly placed by the dumb and ineffectual Jason Knauf.

    Signed,
    QE

    p.s. photoshopping much?

  34. Sue Denim says:

My personal intuition…I don’t think the queen really likes or respects Kate, she doesn’t dislike her exactly…I think she sees Kate is good overall for William, but also sees her limitations. I just think the queen’s body language around Kate is tolerant but not that interested or engaged as she is w others.

  35. Vanessa says:

No shade but: Kate is going to be the Queen Consort, not the Queen Regnant, so shouldn’t she be prepping with Prince Philip, the Prince Consort?

  36. Andrea says:

She won’t make it. William will have divorced her before then.

  37. Cara says:

I think all the in-fighting in the BRF right now is over the shifting eco-system. The Queen is slowing down. Phillip is already out of the game. They will want a transition in place well before she formally steps down from public duties.
William’s jealousy and resentment over H+M’s clear popularity; Saint Kate PR stories; Harry’s determination to set up an independent life, projects and court; Andrew’s dirty PR stunts to remind everyone that he and his should still be relevant (brother of King with 2 sons and 4 grandkids is a much lower position than Queen’s 2nd son) — I think it is all because they are trying to carve out their new role, image and importance.
They are not so much a family as a family business. And any change in management/ownership can be really, really bitter and mean.

  38. Casey20 says:

Sorry, I can’t take Kate serious! The picture of her laughing hysterically and inappropriately is vintage Kate…. Zero substance but great photo op!!

  39. TheOriginalMia says:

I think I scared the lady sitting next to me at lunch. So much to laugh at. Kate is barely ready to be PoW. No way she’s ready to be Queen Consort. Why would Charles abdicate to make way for William? He’s only been preparing his entire adult life to reign. William just started taking on more duties. He had to be forced to do that because he completely ignored his GrandPa who said he was ready to retire years before he actually did. And why would the Queen counsel Kate? She’s the Queen. Kate will never rule. Even if something happened to William and George was next up, she wouldn’t be chosen as Regent.

  40. ImPosterMate says:

    So there is
    1. a clear push to ‘rewrite’ the Kate narrative and image.
    2. aim is to distract from the Will rumors and perhaps in response the positive public reaction to the Sussexes.
    3. PR push is being done by Cambridge and Middleton camps

My question is this. Is this campaign also a way for Kate to flex back against William in response to his rumored behaviors? While she wouldn’t likely wage a ‘wronged woman’ campaign as her predecessor, maybe her strategy is this instead. The good PR positions her so she may be more ‘beloved’ by the public, makes Will look worse if/when evidence of these rumors come to light and positions her so that it is harder (PR wise) for Will to leave her/step out.
Pushing this PR narrative could be what she negotiated from Will as punishment if the rumors or true. Or it was sold to Will and he bought into it willingly without realizing the maneuvering.

    • Anance says:

      ImPosterMate,

I couldn’t agree with you more. There have several articles showing Royal Family support for Kate, they have been related to Charles’ 70th bio (all Kate positive) and this outing with right around when the “Chumbley” rumors started.

IMO, this is Kate’s camp saying, i.e. Kate is not going anywhere, she will be Queen, get those ideas out for your head Rose.

These PR articles, in response to the Rose/Will affair leak as well as William OTT reaction, indicate that something very threatening to Kate’s position occurred. In fact, the original articles were couched in terms of rivalry over social position.

  41. Emily says:

So we can look forward to these kinds of articles for at least 30 years! Charles is 70, the Queen is 92. The Queen could easily live to 100, her mother passed away at 101. So let’s say if she passes away around 100, Charles would become king around the age of 80 (Kate would be around 47). Let’s say Charles passes away around 100 like his mom, she might not even become Queen Consort until the age of 67 (hoping my math is correct, it’s not my strong point). So she might not even become Queen Consort until she’s closer to 70. By that point the public will be more interested in George, Charlotte, and Louis!

Obviously there’s no way to predict when someone passes away and for all we know Charles might be struck down by something earlier. Even the healthiest person can. Kate could easily become Queen Consort much earlier. But for the press to go on and on about something that is likely decades away… so 30 more years of how Kate is becoming more keen each year about her future role as Queen Consort. And that’s if she and William don’t divorce first! So many ifs.

  42. Jen says:

“Most popular to take the throne in generations.” Well seeing as the queen has been on the throne seemingly forever, that would apply to just about anyone.

  43. Nikki says:

Too many people responded as if Kate had put this forth; I’m sure it’s tripe dreamed up by the media. to sell magazines. And if anyone should be insulted, it’s Camilla; she’s next in line to be queen!

  44. Chatty Cath says:

Cringe worthy Mama Middleton! She sets my teeth on edge. Her daughter is a hollow puppet and we can see the strings.

  45. Mrs.Krabapple says:

God, William and Kate are so desperate. You know what would be funny? If, decades from now, Charles is really old like the Queen is now, and people start talking about how the throne should skip lazy Willie completely, and go straight to George. That is, if there still is a throne, which I don’t think there will be.

    • Busyann says:

Agreed! I don’t see it happening, not with Kate and Will behind Charles and Camilla. To be honest, I think people would be more receptive to seeing Harry and Meghan and baby sussex in direct line to the throne. Simply because their family is going to resemble the diversity of GB and the world. I know, it will never happen, but for the longevity of the crown, well as I mentioned earlier….the BRF have to give the people what they want, and there may come a point where they want the sussexes. I wonder if there are any concerns about that?

  46. Misty says:

Fanfiction indeed! As if Elizabeth or Charles will retire!

  47. Flying Fish says:

Kate would have to develop a some kind of a ethic and stop using her children as an excuse not to work.

  48. Busyann says:

Im a little confused about the queen consort hoopla. Its similar to Philips role….married to the sovereign am I right? What’s the big deal? She’s not actually going to be THE QUEEN, meaning she wont be sovereign or am I completely missing something here? Its more important that William will be King. Thats the role of significance out of the two. If the monarchy as it is today even lasts long enough for Will and Kate to ascend to the thrown. This year really made me wonder, what is the point of the royal family?

It seems like in addition to propping Kate up big time, they’re propping up what her position more than it should be. Which seems like some massive campaign….funny how there seems to be two vastly different campaigns for two vastly different duchesses.

  49. CairinaCat says:

Carole will most likely be dead before Kate gets to be QC, or too old to care.

  50. Well Wisher says:

Personal observation after the Cambridges’ wedding led me to surmise that they would not allow themselves to replace Princess Diana as the cash cow for the tabloids. It was demonstrated by the way she dressed -their approach to their participation in public royal events and their marriage. I was disinterested in “Waity Kate” as such feeling they have a right to chart their own path in public life. They deliberately let themselves been seen as dull.

With Meghan on board and listening especially to Kathy McNichols another scenario is emerging.
That of an insecure and highly competitive woman.
She “never puts a foot wrong” unlike even a robot to a mere mortal. She allow herself to be defined the “good character” in contrast to the “Jezebel” as part of the tabloid narrative. It reeks of entitlement.(understandingly so being married to the heir of the heir).

The problem is that the Sussexes are not in competition with them.

Then the revelation of the “affair”. Alleged reaction to l’affaire denotes her insecurity as that of a “mean girl”.
The Cambridges thrive on competition. It is similar to adrenal. The prize is never enough.
Will is now at home: back to out-ranking Meghan.

I guess that is what it means to the “good witch” in the “fairy” tale.

  51. Rachel says:

That does not look like Kate on the front!
