Gwen Stefani’s date-night ensemble in LA: deconstructed country chic?

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton out for dinner at Craig's

There’s not any gossip or news about Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton these days, but it’s notable that they stepped out for dinner last night and got pap’d. They went to dinner at Craig’s, which is sort of a pap-friendly place in LA. Celebrities are always getting photographed coming out of Craig’s, so I would assume that Blake and Gwen just wanted to remind everyone that they’re totally fine and still together.

Call me crazy, but I sort of love how Gwen has been incorporating more of a “country” look to her style ever since she’s been with Blake. She knows herself and she loves her rock n’ roll style, but she’s been doing more denim and, like, deconstructed cowboy chic the past few years. She manages to make it look authentic. Her date-night outfit is sort of crazy, and yet it looks SO Gwen, and it also looks deconstructed country. Did she just create a whole new style?

As I said, we haven’t heard much about Gwen and Blake’s future plans. There are always stories about how they’ll eventually get married or maybe adopt a baby girl or both, and I honestly think marriage and adoption are both on the table for them. In March, we also heard that Gwen was seeking an annulment for her marriage to Gavin Rossdale. We haven’t had any updates on that, so I still don’t know. She’s a lifelong Catholic, and it’s possible she wouldn’t want to marry Blake until her first marriage is annulled, I don’t know.

PS… Yes, her cheeks and lips look crazy. But I was honestly just looking at her outfit.

Omg those things on her feet!

    • whatWHAT? says:

she looks ridiculous. and he is SO unattractive.

      • SM says:

And he dresses like a truck driver (no offence to truck drivers, but it is one thong to spend your days driving a truck and going out for a dinner) and her cheeks look like inflated balloons.

    • astrid says:

      My first thought as well.

  2. Sharon Lea says:

This reminds of a story I read about how Princess Caroline wanted an annulment Phillipe Junot so she could marry Stephano Casiraghi. Things seemed to be dragging out, so her father, Prince Rainier didn’t send his annual donation to the Vatican, $1 million. Soon after, Caroline received her annulment and Prince Rainier resumed his donations.

    Those shoes… They’re something else… 😐

    • BayTampaBay says:

At one time she hand a shoe line called “gx by Gwen Stefani” which I just loved. I bought several pairs from this line and the shoes are very comfortable for high heels.

  4. Rando says:

    Her filler is bananas b-a-n-a-n-a-s

  5. Erinn says:

She’s looking a bit like Heidi Montag in the first photo.

I do like that it’s very “Gwen Does Country” not just a full immersion into country. It’s a lot more rock and roll / punky than just country so I’m glad she’s kept her own twist in there. It’s not really my taste, but I think she looks fine. I kind of like the jacket.

    • hunter says:

I honestly don’t think anyone else in the entire world could pull this off (those “boots”) and she juuuuuuuussst squeaks by. It’s impressive.

  6. Ramona Q. says:

Questions for lawyers maybe? How can she get an annulment and not a divorce since they were married for so long. And wouldn’t she be waiting until after her annulment/divorce to marry Blake because she can’t be married to 2 people at once by law, not because she’s Catholic?

    • CherHorowitz says:

Not a lawyer, but from reading previous stories about this i think they are divorced, but she’s seeking an annullment specifically from the catholic church, so she is allowed to get married again in a church and have a ‘valid’ second marriage, religiously speaking.

      • hunter says:

Doesn’t an annulment mean a couple never had sex?

How’s that possible when there are children?

    • BayTampaBay says:

@Ramona, I had the exact same two questions.

Also, I know the problems with Gavin Rossdale was due Rossdale having an affair with the nanny? However, I always thought there was more to the story than just the nanny. Does know the full tea on Gavin Rossdale?

    • lucy2 says:

She’s trying to get an annulment though, not a divorce. If it was just a divorce, she could do that and legally marry Blake no problem, but she wants an annulment so it can be a full Catholic wedding/marriage.

When that story came up a while back, I remember finding that BOTH parties had to have annulments…meaning Blake too. Anyone know if that’s true?

      • astrid says:

I read the same thing that both parties had to get annulments. I’m assuming she’s sleeping with Blake and still taking part of the wine and crackers, which isn’t allowed if you’re a divorced catholic without an annulment.

    • Ashley G says:

She could probably annul under fraud? I think that’s another one you can use. I don’t know if she would go that far because it would become public, but years into their marriage we found out Gavin had a bisexual relationship. Seems like a good excuse to use. The Catholic Church would totally take her side.

  7. DiegoInSF says:

I actually think her face looks great! I have a jacket kinda like hers without the black pleather/leather part.

  8. Anastasia says:

I tried, but there’s absolutely nothing about this look that I like.

  9. Nicegirl says:

    Barftastic

  10. jules says:

She used to be so cute, she must have such low self-esteem to do this to her face 🙁

  11. ChiaMom says:

Feeling like she could do better than this rando looking guy but I’m not a country fan so I don’t have the swoons for him

  12. lucy2 says:

I think it looks more try-hard rather than authentic. I can’t imagine saying “hey, let’s go out for dinner” and then deciding to wear…that.

  13. Jane says:

She has a pair of great legs.
The outfit is asinine, all the way around, top to bottom, tho the feet covers do get an especial sneer.

As for women who take on the persona of the person they are with, well, I don’t understand it at all.

    • sammiches says:

+1 to “As for women who take on the persona of the person they are with, well, I don’t understand it at all.” I wish Gwen would learn who SHE IS and what SHE LIKES and stop changing herself to match the guy she’s with. It’s so painfully obvious that she does this and I wish she’d learn to be good with herself.

  14. Totally Old says:

I have a big problem with wearing hosiery with that gawd awful outfit. Overall, has a bit of a “street walker” vibe.

  15. sammiches says:

They both look effing awful. THOSE BOOTS OMG

  16. Texas says:

No. No. Not authentic. Just bad. I’m a Texas girl and you can do country cute. But this ain’t it.

  17. lolalola3 says:

Those shoes need to see the Meat grinder asap. Good god. Awful beyond repair.

  18. amp122076 says:

I’m obsessed with HIS shoes. The.best.

  19. launicaangelina says:

Omg! They look like me and my husband! 😳 I love makeup and dressing up (even if it’s fancying-up casual wear). But no to the her boots/heels – beels? hoots? My husband is a country boy. We are weirdly matched, but he’s a great guy. We’re both Texans, but my dad is from Mexico and I grew up with a large Mexican influence, so I’m definitely not a country girl.

  20. Andrea says:

Something tells me Gavin is laughing at these photos.

  21. Shelley says:

Dang! I think she looks FABULOUS! Amazing! I’m impressed. She looks great in the cool/hot outfit. (I’d injure myself just trying on those shoes.)

  22. burdzeyeview says:

Is he a lot older than her? These pics look like a dad who’s come to pick up his daughter from a party.
