Cardi B & Offset are dropping $500K for Kulture’s first birthday, ugh

Lord, I can’t believe that Kulture isn’t even one year old yet. Cardi B was VERY active after she gave birth, and I definitely think it’s worth pointing out that the strip club incident last summer – the incident that left Cardi being charged with felonies and misdemeanors – happened about seven weeks after she gave birth. Kulture’s first birthday is a few weeks away, on July 10th. And Cardi and Offset are going to party like it’s the last party before Cardi goes to jail.

Cardi B and Offset are making sure Kulture is one blinged-out baby … spending a huge chunk of change on a super lavish present for their daughter’s upcoming first birthday party. Our sources tell us, Kulture is getting some serious bday bling when she turns 1 next month … and we’ve got an early look at the extravagant piece of custom jewelry. Check it out … when Kulture celebrates her first birthday on July 10, she’s gonna get this super sick piece from her parents, featuring characters from her favorite TV show, “Word Party.”

We’ve learned Cardi commissioned celeb jeweler Eliantte for the project … and the pendant and chain are made of diamonds, white gold and vibrantly colored enamel. Altogether, we’re told Cardi dropped about $100,000 to keep Kulture ice cold. Kulture’s first birthday bash is gonna be one for the ages … Cardi recently revealed she’s pulling out all the stops, and spending a whopping $400k on the festivities!!!

[From TMZ]

I will die on this hill: stop spending all this money on your child’s FIRST birthday. It’s like what Kylie Jenner did for Stormi’s birthday – why are you spending that money, my lord. It’s dumb, it’s wasteful and THE BABY WILL NOT REMEMBER IT. Throw a party, by all means. Have a cake, invite your family over and just do that. There is truly no need to drop $400,000 on a baby’s first birthday party. Just like there is no need to drop $100K on a kid-show-themed piece of jewelry… which will just end up in the child’s mouth anyway. Why are so many celebrities doing this sh-t???

This party has nothing to do with Kulture. It’s about Cardi and Offset showing off their wealth and status.

    • Pringer says:

True i know she gets so much love on this site but i just cant stand her

    • Wow says:

To be fair, all first birthdays are about the parents and not the kids. My twins slept through their first birthday and cried through their second. We stopped having parties full stop and just having family over for dinner and gifts until they were 6 and asked for a party.

We spent probably $700 on the first birthday. Based on our net worth at the time vs. Cardi B and offset we probably put the same into it just adjusting for the difference in wealth. Lot of people gave them jewelry too, but thats normal to give jewelry to babies in some black cultures ESPECIALLY if you are closely related or are African immigrants.

I hate being one of those “THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!!!” people but this story is just so bizarre to me. Your baby is weeks old. When you’re not with your baby don’t you want to rest? Take a long shower? Idk, treat yourself to something delicious? How the hell did she find energy, time, or f*cks to give to get involved in strip club brawls?

    • Eliza says:

Not only time for a brawl and visits to clubs. But her surgery, before everything went haywire, would require her not being able to lift for probably a month, meaning she probably had to have help to even hold the baby as she couldn’t lift. I get it, she needs to feel in shape for her job, and then had the complications which made even getting back to work difficult. And theres a million ways to parent and i hate shaming but showing off diamonds bought for babies online is not about the baby.

  3. Lisa says:

More money than sense. Very new money and tacky.

    • Some chick says:

So, you’re saying that “old money” is somehow better?

Because most of that came from ill gotten means, and even if not, inheriting money isn’t somehow superior to earning it oneself.

Dragging “new money” is literally voicing support for the oligarchy. Not a great look. maybe instead we should criticize the wretched excess of the filthy rich, regardless of where they got it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(I still think earning it is superior to it just being handed to someone, but, whatever.)

  4. Elizabeth says:

The first birthday is for the parents. I’m not saying it’s right – but that’s just what it is.

    • Eliza says:

Same could be said for the 2nd. Or even 3rd. The kid won’t remember and would have just as much fun with family and friends at the house without diamond jewelry.

      • Wow says:

I just commented we stopped throwing parties for my twins birthday until they asked for one because they slept through the first and cried through the second. The parties are for the parent until the get into school and have friends.

  5. Valiantly Varnished says:

First birthday parties are not for the babies – they are for the parents. It is known. Lol.

  6. Eliza says:

MC Hammer, Nick Cage, 50 cent, Toni Braxton, Tom Petty all have the same words of wisdom…

… never spend like the money will keep coming in at the same rate.

    • lucy2 says:

That was my first thought too – I really hope she has saved for the future, because the entertainment industry is fickle, and not particularly kind to women as they get older.

I think it’s crazy to spend that kind of cash on any party, let alone a kid’s party, and even worse one they’ll never remember. They could still have quite the blow out for $10k, and put the rest in a trust for the kid.

    • Some chick says:

Yeah, Hammer really took it in the pants! 😂😂😂

      Sorry. I’ll show myself out.

The worst part about my joke here is that I actually met him once, and he was very kind and gracious.

  7. Mignionette says:

These artists really don’t know how to plan for the future – SMH….

One day when Offset is on his 7th baby mama and she is paying the child support she is gonna wish she had been smarter about her spending….

  8. sommolierlady says:

    A fool and his/her money…

    Still hate that awful name.

  9. Wisca says:

A mere two-penny tax on wealth on every dollar over 50 million could fund so so much for the American people, & I bet Cardi would not mind. (One of Elizabeth Warren’s excellent plans.) People having this much untaxed wealth is morally vile.

  10. Jb says:

Is it bad I’m kinda looking forward to the bankruptcy stories that are bound to come? Poor kid with parents like that, all that money and no common sense.

    • minx says:

You just know it’s going to happen. She thinks she’ll always be raking in the money. Creditors will be coming for the cars and jewelry and she’ll wonder what happened.

    • Some chick says:

Yes. It is bad. Just because you can predict the future doesn’t give you the right to gloat about it. That’s just mean spirited. #schadenfreude

  11. Lightpurple says:

I’m going to a birthday party for a 2 year old next week. The first birthday consisted of Mommy, Daddy and grandma with a cake. This year, the birthday coincides with a visit from grandpa from Montana and a great aunt’s family getting together with her family in nearby Maine and the purchase of a new house. So, it’s a combination birthday, house warming, family reunion. The kid won’t remember it but he is old enough to enjoy opening presents, playing with his cousins, and blowing out candles while the adults drink wine and hang out in a backyard, eating hot dogs and hamburgers. No theme. No fancy gifts. But we’ll have far more fun.

  12. Janey says:

Other than the showing their clout, it’s kind of really embracing the luxury they can afford now. One that she never had growing up.

Most of my friends are children of immigrants, not one of us had parties. And now that we’re grown adults, doing well for ourselves, we really go more all out that we ever had. We’re not dropping that much on our kids parties but – we want to give them something we never had. So maybe she’s doing that for Kulture. Yes, a first birthday is more about the parents. Shit – that first year it hard, it’s time to PARTY. Lol.

    • lucy2 says:

I get that, and certainly don’t begrudge someone enjoy their success, but not to this extreme. They could still do a wonderful, over the top event for a fraction of that money.

  13. Lala11_7 says:

    In five years…

    She will wish she hadn’t….

  14. Kaye says:

More relevant is a 1-year old that has a favorite TV show. Screens and video for children under 2/3 can be damaging to development.

  15. Yes Doubtful says:

They are both going to be broke and bankrupt once their careers cool off. I loved Cardi’s first album, but the stuff she’s put out since has been mediocre at best. I think her daughter would appreciate it more if she invested that 500k toward the future..

  16. ChillyWilly says:

👏👏👏 Yes! This kind of excess makes me sick. I mean think of the people or even animals that kind of money could help. My only solace is my suspicion that these two will end up broke as hell one day soon.

  17. Kate says:

We spent a large amount on my daughter’s first birthday. It was 100% for my husband and I; neither of us have any delusion about that. Maybe it was the wrong thing to do, but I have no regrets.
You see, my daughter was born at 26 weeks. We had no baby shower, no visitors when she came home (she was immuno compromised), no religious traditions, no playdates, etc. We did have 83 days in the hospital, countless PT and OT sessions, drs Apts and an overriding fear of rehospitalization (>50% of children like her are readdmitted in the first year). Oh. I also just about had up my career that I’ve worked incredibly hard for 10 years to build.
So when we hit that year milestone. When the PTs, OTs and Dr’s did their yearly assessment and said she is “caught up and on track” (not typical @1 yr BTW), hell yes we had a party with family, friends, neighbors, her drs, nurses, therapists, etc!
(For her 2nd birthday, we took her to the park and gave her a cupcake, LOL.)
We all have our reasons for doing what we do.
No shame, no judgement. Sure it is selfish, sure there are better uses of that money, and IMHO kid jewelry is stupid, but celebrate away and celebrate your way!

    • Patty says:

Good for you but it also has nothing to do with Cardi and it’s okay for people to point out that it’s a huge waste of money to spend $500K on a 1st Birthday Party; especially when one’s income is partially based on popularity and newness and the parents are involved in an industry that is incredibly fickle and more than a few hotshots have blown through massive amounts of money and ended up bankrupt.

  18. Dirk says:

    Dumb dumb duuuuuuumb

  19. Marianne says:

Cause its not about the kid. Its about showing off to the other parents…
