Have you tried a squatty potty yet? It works like they claim

Amazon_butterflyStickers
I wanted to thank you all again for being so supportive of our Amazon posts! These are so much fun for me. I tell people that I used to browse celebrity gossip when I wanted a break at my real job. Now that my real job is gossiping I browse online shopping sites when I want to slack off. Does that mean I’m going to get bored of shopping now that I’m making this my job too? That wouldn’t be a bad thing given how much stuff I buy. Here are some random products I found, some in the health category.

10 reusable grocery bags so you’ll never be without one
Amazon_ShoppingBags
As I’ve mentioned before, I carry soft grocery bags in my purse because they’re easier to pack and remember than the structured reusable bags you typically get at the store. Plus they hold a massive amount of weight and are easier to carry than plastic bags. This set of 10 colorful bags, with a zipper pouch to store them, are similar to the ones I have. They’re so affordable at $17 and if you don’t need that many you can give some away as gifts. They have 123 reviews, a 4.7 star rating and an A from Fakespot. Buyers say they’re durable and hold a lot, that “I never forget them since they’re right there with my purse,” that they don’t take up much space, and that they “definitely recommend” them.

The squatty potty will help you do your business
Amazon_SquattyPotty
My mom bought us one of these for Christmas and at first I was skeptical. The thing does work well to help position your body to do its business easier and faster. I don’t know if you poop rainbow ice cream (context for that comment) but I would recommend it. (One negative: it doesn’t look cute sitting under your toilet and I always want to hide it when company comes.) The Squatty Potty has over 9,000 reviews, a 4.5 star rating and an A from Fakespot. Reviewers say “it works like a charm,” “this is amazing” and that it helps “alleviate the symptoms of diverticulitis.”

Colorful 3D Butterfly stickers for art projects and wall decoration
Amazon_Butterflystickerscomplete
I bought some art supplies for a class I’m taking and now I get recommendations for similar things, like these pretty butterfly stickers. There are so many variations of these but unlike the other packs offered on Amazon this set has an A from Fakespot and 4.3 star rating. (There are only 38 reviews though.) You get a pack of 72 bright butterfly stickers for $10. They come with little magnets in them and also come with double sided foam sticky dots so you can put them anywhere. These would make great decorations for a child’s room, playroom or nursery. They would also make great party decorations. Buyers say “pictures don’t do it justice,” that “they look beautiful” and are “easy to hang.”

An 299 piece first aid kid so you’ll never be without needed supplies
Amazon_FirstAidKid
This first aid kit is the number one best seller in health care products. It comes with band aids, dressings, ointments, OTC medicines, a cold compress, first aid guide less than $15. Reviewers praise how much stuff it comes with and say “you can’t put a price on peace of mind.” One woman says she’s become the go-to person in her office with minor medical complaints because she keeps one of these stocked in her desk.

Boric acid suppositories for vaginal health
Amazon_BoricAcid
These boric acid suppositories help restore vaginal ph and can help prevent and treat recurrent bacterial vaginosis, general irritation and yeast infections. You just do a seven day treatment nightly as you need. They have over 1,100 reviews, a 4.3 star rating and an A from Fakespot. Women say “you notice results in as little as one day,” they “truly offer almost immediate relief,” and they they “helped me cure my chronic BV.”

Concentrated pain relief gel for targeted therapy
Amazon_Penetrex
We’ve talked about pain relief gels and creams before. This pain relief gel by Penetrex is among the top ten best sellers in health care. It has 4.3 stars, over 26,000 reviews and an A from Fakespot. A woman with arthritis writes that it works fast to relieve her pain and that “this product has been a blessing to me.” Another person says it’s “the very best product I have ever used to treat pain” and a third calls it a “miracle cream from heaven.”

Anti-chafing balm for comfortable summers
Amazon_AntiChafing
I’ve read twitter threads with people raving about this stuff, which you can also buy under the brand Monistat. (Incidentally the ingredients in Monistat chafing relief powder gel are the same as expensive face primer. A lot of women just use the Monistat instead.) This anti-chafing body glide is said to be great for reducing friction between thighs so you can wear skirts and shorts in summer. It’s also excellent for sports like running and biking, where friction can damage sensitive skin. It’s said to be “very dry, non greasy and goes on smooth and colorless just like a deodorant with no scent” and to work well. A runner says “this solved my heat rash/chafing problem” and a woman raves that this saved her vacation and allowed her “to wear dresses and shorts with no chafing!” I definitely need something like this as I’ve been having issues from spinning. (Ooh this chamois cream looks good too.)

If you do not have a squatty potty, order one immediately. I do not want to get into a TMI moment, just go get one!

    • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

I got one after seeing it on Shark Tank, and can’t imagine being without it! It’s amazing.

    • CityGirl says:

I purchased a little collapsing footstool instead. I too thought I would feel funny if company came over and tripped over my squatty potty – plus the foot stool was about $5.

    • Gigi says:

I just ordered one from wish. It was cheaper than amazon. Wish products are hit or miss but I have purchased some really good quality clothes I get compliments all the time and some really poor quality but with the potty thing I was willing to risk it.

  2. Becks1 says:

I use that anti-chafe cream (side note, they make one for women, its pink, but I don’t know what the difference is besides that lol) and it REALLY works. I use it when I’m running and stuff like that, but also if we are going to be outside in the heat walking around (zoo, Disney, etc.) It’s great!

    • runcmc says:

The women’s one has different ingredients… I think (don’t quote me on this!!) it’s something like extra vitamins and a different scent. I swear by body glide too! I’m a distance runner and it protects my skin so much, especially my shoulders where my sports bra rubs.

  3. SamC says:

Body glide works great! I used to do triathlons and this stuff saved me during training (lived in Texas at the time so HOT!). Even worse than inner thigh was under arm/inner bicep chafing, forgot my Body glide once and learned my lesson!

    • Erinn says:

This stuff is a life saver. I’ve worn dresses and destroyed my thighs from them rubbing in really hot weather. It’s absolute hell. My husband loves it for mountain biking as well.

  4. Lady Baden-Baden says:

My husband got me a squatty potty for Xmas! Cue much hilarity amongst the family! But it’s great – and saves me using the bathroom bin to prop my feet on to allow for the errr… ideal positing, if you get me

    • manda says:

I’ve done the bin thing! It doesn’t really work for me though, it feels like it’s going to get crushed and it’s kind of an odd shape. I imagine there would be laughing if I was to purchase one, which is why I have been reluctant to do so. They should make a collapsable one! I will say I just started using probiotics and, unless it’s just a coincidence, I feel great!

      • Lady Baden-Baden says:

My husband bought me the squatty potty precisely because I broke the bin!!! If it helps – everyone got used to the SP really quickly and I think it looks fine – it fits neatly around the toilet. Visitors don’t seem to really notice it. Although that might be because they assume it’s a kids step…

      • launicaangelina says:

I’m a huge fan of probiotics and have been using Culturelle for a year and a half. I feel so much better overall. I’ve had stomach issues all my life, nothing major, but probiotics was the first and only thing that fixed them.

      • Pamspam says:

Hey Manda – they actually do make a Squatty Potty that folds up!
        https://amzn.to/2X7boR9

      • manda says:

@ Lady Baden-Baden–OMG too funny! And thanks for the explanation on storage! I wondered if it sort of fit underneath for when not needed

@ launicaangelina–I’ve read good things for years and friends have told me how helpful, I don’t know why I waited so long.

        @ Pamspam–oooh, thank you!

  5. Kit says:

Added benefit of our squatty potty was that it made toilet training sooooo much easier. Easy for kids to climb and rest their feet on, looks better than those coloured plastic ladder things, and best of all, no more scraping out the baby potty, those things are disgusting.

  6. Harla says:

I’ve had my squatty potty for a couple years now and I don’t know how I lived without it 😃

  7. Audrey says:

If you want to “go” better, just put your arms over your head like you’re reaching for something above. That changes the alignment of your lower body and allows for easier “going”.

  8. fishface says:

Would the anti-chafe balm help with blister prevention? I get terrible blisters on my feet – even in shoes I have worn for years.

    • Celebitchy says:

They make a type for feet too https://amzn.to/2RD2Awf

    • LadyMTL says:

I believe Dr. Scholl’s makes an anti-blister stick, I have one somewhere in one of my cabinets. I have super sensitive feet that blister easily, and I have found that it helps.

That said, my favorite product is the moleskin “bandage” (again from Dr. Scholl’s). It’s basically a fuzzy strip that you stick on to the spots on your feet where you know you get blisters…basically like an upgraded band-aid. They stick really well, and I especially like that it comes in one big piece and you can cut them to whatever size you need.

      • Christin says:

My mother had multiple calluses and blisters on her RA-ravaged feet. We used the moleskin pads to protect and discovered they helped soften and remove the calluses, too! They were one of the most helpful products we used.

    • SamC says:

I’ve used the regular Body glide on my feet and it works fine, I just kept a stick for feet and one for body, if that makes sense.

    • Erinn says:

Where do you live? I know you can buy bodyglide at Sportchek in Canada. I think my dad (he used to run) had in the past even tried some kind of deodorant on his feet.

I’ve also bought some moleskin bandages (like LadyMTL said) and worn them as a preventative measure in shoes. My heel/achiles tendon area is practically scarred at this point. I’ve also taped my toes in heels. Heck, I’d imagine if you wanted to buy KT tape and use that on your feet it’d probably work as long as you’re wearing sneakers to cover it. That stuff sticks for days.

    • tealily says:

Yes, it does help! I’ve used it on my feet frequently. I usually rub the stick with my fingers to get some product on them, and then rub it onto my feet where I’m blister prone (to avoid SamC’s 2 stick method).

  9. Quackadilly Blip says:

Yoga bricks make a good substitute for the Squatty Potty.

  10. Trillian says:

We keep a stool in the bathroom so my little daughter can reach the sink. I just use this one, but I can confirm that it does help!

  11. Chef Grace says:

    Squatty Potty is great.
Beware the Penetrex. Side effects are rough. I know 3 people who say it does not work as good as claims. Plus all three had the horrible side effects.
I will order those bags for groceries today. I am so tired of dealing with the crumply large bags and trying to store them.

  12. Lightpurple says:

I ordered the butterflies! I was just thinking my summer porch decor needed refreshing and those butterflies will do nicely.

  13. leskat says:

I mentioned I wanted a Squatty Potty once and my husband got it as a joke gift for Christmas about 2 years ago. Jokes on him, that thing is awesome! Even if you don’t have any, uh, bathroom issues, you need one. You’ll be shocked at how much easier doing number 2 is. You can kind of get a similar feeling by leaning over onto your legs when on the toilet, so that your body is more of a crouch/squat but just get yourself a Squatty Potty. You’ll never regret it. I’m not shy about talking about it either, I’ve told so many people about how awesome it is. I get a lot of “no thanks, I’m good” but people have no idea what a good feeling they’re missing out on without it!

  14. Cee says:

About the squatty potty.. in Argentina we have bidets in most bathrooms. they are placed right next to the toilet, so i’ve always used it as a squatty potty and it’s literally the best way to poop LOL especially if you have IBS or similar.

  15. gingersnaps says:

    Another vote for squatty potty!
I’m used to having a bidet in the loo but it’s not the norm here in the UK.
We’ve just had our bathroom renovated and I wish I’d push for a bidet attached to the loo.

    • Wendy says:

Have you looked into bidet attachments? They’re getting VERY affordable and super easy to install… looks like there’s a pretty decent selection available on Amazon UK.

      • gingersnaps says:

I’ve looked into that but they were saying all sorts of water regulations must be met to prevent any contamination/back flow to the water supply. Our plumber who we trust and have had decades of experience but none in installing bidets. Other plumbers who we spoke to also said they either didn’t have any experience with installing it or have done it once or twice & all of them discourage us to get it. =/

      • Wendy says:

        Oh, that’s a huge bummer, I’m sorry.

  16. Renee says:

I LOVE these posts! I can recommend the Boric acid as I’ve used it before. I just ordered the bags & pain relief gel.

    Keep these posts coming!!!

  17. Wendy says:

The Squatty Potty works so well that I’m legit considering getting the travel model for an upcoming cross-country road trip.

  18. tealily says:

YES YES YES YES YES on the Body Glide! I first bought it when I was training for a half marathon and my usual deodorant-on-the-thighs-and-underarms trick wasn’t cutting it. I haven’t been able to run in a couple of years, but I keep reordering the Body Glide. I couldn’t make it through summer without it. I live in the South and I wear a lot of dresses and skirts to combat the heat. I use this stuff, like, everyday.

  19. Agnes says:

I love these posts. However, I do wonder about all the vadge-related stuff in this one. What would an actual doctor think about that? Just trying to pre-empt any goop-like claims here. Lol

  20. Als Em says:

I have been using squatty potty for 5 years now. I will never go back. I have even gifted it.

  21. susiecue says:

The Squatty Potty is SO amazing, and they even make a pretty wood-colored one, which I found out when Jonathan Van Ness had it in the background of an IG post. Now I really want that one but I’m not bougie enough to replace my perfectly fine one.

  22. bobafelty says:

Penetrex is no gimmick, totally worth the money! I started going back to the gym, and was so sore all the time! The other creams I tried had a terrible smell or never absorbed fully into my skin (not even the spray types). But this cream is a miracle worker. Absorbs quickly, no real smell at all, and quick pain relief.

  23. Snowflake says:

I am glad to see the post on the squatty potty. My husband was just diagnosed with diverticulitis.

  24. Nibbi says:

K um. So i’m very pro-the reusable bags vs wasteful disposable bags, but does the world really need more new/ non-recycled/ recyclable crap to buy?
I use a cotton string “net” bag that takes zero space and makes zero noise in my handbag & that is cute enough to be used anyplace (i live in paris, where the cotton string shopping bag is an old classic.) it’s a natural fiber & there’s really no need for any additional crap like a carrying case. I just think they look cuter, sort of fun and beachy
. you can buy them in many colors & in organic cotton, some have longer handles, they wash in the machine, they last forever, you can bleach them if really they start to get grubby, they can hold really a lot of stuff if you need them to, they’re not made out of plastic synthetic type crap that will never decompose….

    • GMonkey says:

Those are great for produce and groceries, but sometimes privacy might be necessary for certain purchases.
