Adrien Brody & Georgina Chapman just started dating, and it makes sense?

The Weinstein Company And Netflix Golden Globes Party

I was trying to do a bit of research to see if Adrien Brody had ever worked with Harvey Weinstein and I ended up rediscovering Brody’s comments about Woody Allen and Roman Polanski. Brody has worked with both Polanski and Allen, and in 2016 (pre-Me Too), he made the argument that an artist’s private life should be separate from their work (even if they commit crimes in their “private life”) and Brody said “people make mistakes in lives…I don’t even read about these things, to be honest. I choose not to indulge this kind of fodder…people have done things in their lives that may be inexcusable, but it’s not something to focus on.”

So now I don’t even care if he worked with Weinstein. I’m sure Brody did at some point, and I found photos of Brody posing with Weinstein at various events over the years. And so now, Adrien Brody is probably dating Harvey’s ex-wife, Georgina Chapman.

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s British ex-wife has found love with another Hollywood star – Oscar winner Adrien Brody. Designer Georgina Chapman is dating the acclaimed actor – and Weinstein’s former friend – after being set-up by supermodel Helena Christensen, the Sun on Sunday can reveal.

Two years after announcing she was divorcing the 67-year-old producer – who has been accused of harassment and assault by over 80 women – the mum-of-two has found happiness. News of her relationship comes on the eve of Weinstein’s controversial trial.

A friend said: “Georgina and Adrien obviously initially met through Harvey, but met again properly in April. Helena had invited them both to her swimwear launch in Puerto Rico, and they bonded over cocktails against a backdrop of various beautiful beaches. They stayed in touch when Georgina returned to London, and then arranged to go on a few low-key dates. Obviously it’s still quite a new thing, but Adrien is smitten and Georgina is the happiest she’s been in ages. She has had a torrid past couple of years, and finally feels ready to move on with her life. Her kids and family are all aware, and everyone whole-heartedly approves.”

[From The Sun]

I think they’re a weird couple, but whatever. Brody had a long-time girlfriend, Lara Lieto, but I think they broke up a year or two ago. He always seemed to like to date very young women, like women in the Leo DiCaprio Girlfriend Program, no one above the age of 25. Georgina is 43. So… I don’t know. It’s all kind of gross to me. After everyone went on and on about how Chapman shouldn’t be blamed for Weinstein’s crimes, I still felt like… well, she knew that he was forcing actresses to wear Marchesa. And once you start unraveling that, it just feels like… maybe Chapman’s comeback is kind of bulls–t. And I don’t even care who she’s dating? But the fact that she’s dating a sexual-predator-apologist makes perfect f–king sense.

I mean, he’s ALMOST as physically repulsive as Weinstein so…girl has a type.

    • Shannon says:

I still don’t understand how she was married to that troll. He has a terrible personality and is painful to look at.

    • BCity says:

Agreed! Also, remember when he was out here building castles for Elsa Pataky and it was literally the only explanation anyone could come up with for that relationship?

  2. OriginalLala says:

Brody’s comments were gross. Must be nice to be a powerful, rich white man who can choose to just not care about atrocities.

    • TQB says:

Right? “people have done things in their lives that may be inexcusable” – – If they are inexcusable, why are you excusing them?

      • stormsmama says:

        right?!
        what an idiot and fool
        *furrows brow*
only the privileged white male can string together that kind of logic
(and only when talking about another privileged white male)

    • Princeling says:

What’s so wrong about seperating art from the artist? Are you familiar with Louis-Ferdinand Céline? A pro-nazi but probably the greatest french writer of the 20th century.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

You cannot separate Weinstein’s and Polanski’s “art” from their crimes, because they USED THEIR POSITION IN THE INDUSTRY to commit the crimes. People like you can come up with all sorts of other, dissimilar, examples of artists who were a-holes in their private lives. But none of that is relevant, because Weinstein and Polanski DIRECTLY used their work in the industry to rape girls/women.

      • Millie says:

You can separate the art from the artist when the crime or inexcusable behaviour isn’t linked to their art in any way.

When people saw Weinstein movies, they were giving money to a company which then used its profits to try to pay off and silence his victims. I’m personally not going to be comfortable seeing another Weinstein movie until I know for sure that he and the people who enabled him to victimize women don’t see a dime of profit from my decision to watch. Similarly, I will go back to enjoying Michael Jackson’s music when his estate stops trying to intimidate/dismiss his alleged victims.

On the other hand, I love listening to Wagner in spite of his association with nazism. The difference is that when I listen to his music, no jews, LGBTQ, gypsies or disabled people get mistreated and I’m not contributing to an entire system that continues abusing victims.

  3. Original T.C. says:

She’s just a gentle fragile white flower, so how would she have known her husband was bullying his actresses to wear her designs? Or know about his reputation in Hollywood? Someone please get the smelling salts for Georgina and some tissue for her white tears. #whitewomanpriviledge

    • Anners says:

Ya, this is always how I feel about her. I don’t think you can hold someone responsible for their spouse’s crimes, but at the same time there is absolutely no way she didn’t at least suspect that something was up. She is the living embodiment of thin, pretty, pampered, and protected white womanhood, who weaponizes her tears and her ‘innocence’ in order to ensure she never has to foot the repair bill for her swath of destruction. I hope her brand never recovers.

    • Jadedone says:

I don’t know. Perhaps she knew her husband was making women wear her designs but that’s not enough to condemn her in my opinion. Being forced to wear a designer dress is not some big travesty of justice. What her husband did beyond that was gross and disgusting but I have no reason to think she knew about that so why hold her accountable for his abhorrent behavior? There are serial killers whose wives had no idea what they were doing so why assume Georgina knew?

      • WTW says:

@Jadeone, I agree wholeheartedly. Not sure why people feel Georgina should be held responsible for her husband’s crimes. Coercing actresses to wear Marchesa is not even on the same level as coercing women into sex and/or raping them. Why would Georgina have known this? Also, considering Weinstein’s temper, why is there not more concern that Georgina was an abused wife. I doubt she was treated well in this marriage.

      • Exactly. Some people are really good actors! IRL. Lol

      • Monicack says:

Nope. Try again. The week Weinstein was outed for assaulting the Italian actress he and Georgina holed up in their CT compound for the weekend with an army of lawyers, publicists and spin doctors. His and hers. It was reported that her decision to stay with him hinged upon whether or not he would be charged/indicted. She was furious because the victim had been wearing a wire for the cops. The audio was sick and terrifying. Georgina was reportedly in an actual rage.

The case didn’t proceed. She stayed.

Stop making this about those ugly ass dresses.

      • Jadedone says:

@Monicack I tried googling more information about what you speaking about but couldn’t find anything. Can you link the article?

      • kerwood says:

On the biggest night of your life, when you’re in front of the whole world and you want to look BEAUTIFUL, you don’t even get to pick what dress you want to wear? You’re forced to wear some monstrosity of a dress because an ogre has threatened to ruin you if you don’t. You’ve worked your ass off, have the greatest designers offering you clothes and you’re forced to wear MARCHESA?

I have a lot of sympathy for the women put in that position

      • Original T.C. says:

“Also, considering Weinstein’s temper, why is there not more concern that Georgina was an abused wife. ”

Because I don’t suffer from the delusion that *all* White women are secretly: 1) abused wives, 2) weak 3) stupid 4) victims 5) innocent. Some women claim to be all about feminism and strong, intelligent womanhood but as soon as a finger is pointed at a White woman who may have contributed to the oppression of others, the first response is “she’s probably abused!” No personal responsibility as an adult human being. This happened early when some of us said Ivanka was crooked and not an ally or the long list of women in Trump co. who are willing to defend him. But we were told they were all victims in need of rescuing.

      • Jadedone says:

@Original TC I dont think anyone is saying that *all* white women are victims or anything else. It’s simply a matter of not women accountable for the actions of men. I haven’t seen any evidence to support the idea that GC knew her husband was abusing women. If you have evidence that she did I would be more than happy to read that.

      • Jadedone says:

@Kerwood what about those actresses with big beauty contracts, they are forced to wear a Dior or Givenchy dress? Being forced into wearing a designer dress isn’t even first world problems, its 1% problems

      • Megbot2000 says:

My partner worked with Weinstein for a year.

She 100% knew. There’s absolutely no way she didn’t know.

And as pointed out the Italian model thing was all over the news. The NY Post literally had a front page headline that was something like “Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman furious over husband’s sex assault allegation” or something. It’s not remotely plausible that the owner of a major company would somehow not know that her own name and that of her company are in a newspaper front page headline about sexual assault.

Other actresses are not “forced” to wear Dior; they choose to sign $$$$ contracts with designers knowing that wearing those clothes is a clause of the contract. Not comparable.

It’s strange how every comment you make is defending GC.

    • himmiefan says:

Let’s leave race out of it.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Because I don’t know her, I give her the benefit of the doubt that she didn’t know her husband was abusing actresses. However, I find it difficult to believe that she didn’t know Weinstein was an a-hole, and forcing women to wear her designs. I also cannot fathom how she could ever “love” him, which means money and business benefits were enough to sell herself to him. And THAT is disgusting.

“people make mistakes in lives…I don’t even read about these things, to be honest. I choose not to indulge this kind of fodder…people have done things in their lives that may be inexcusable, but it’s not something to focus on”

Holy jeez. Peak white male privilege is being able to to just brush off legit crimes because you weren’t going to ever be the target of them, and because you are more similar to the criminal than the victim.

You articulated it perfectly -way better than i tried to above!- especially the subtext!!!!”more similar to the criminal than the victim”!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Yeah, raping a child is merely a “mistake.” He’s just as disgusting as the men he defends.

  5. My3cents says:

Somehow I just can’t really muster any positive feelings towards her.
She probably has one or two expensive homes, millions stashed away somewhere and she’s trying to make a comeback and probably will.
In the back of my mind I think she might be glad to get rid of Winnestein, sort of like Melina (and all of us) would be.
Only suprising thing is she’s not dating some other old billionaire.

  6. minx says:

She has, um, questionable taste, to put it mildly.

    • Godwina says:

In personality, sure. But as much as I want to punch Brody’s face, he has a wicked rangy long lean body, and that is a MASSIVE TRADE-UP. Maybe she’s into taking baby steps only, lol.

  7. Mia4s says:

This…..makes all the sense in the world?…Huh.

The kids are currently 9 and 6 so a bit weird to include them as “approving”. How much do they understand about any of this? Forget this bitch (I just don’t buy the “innocent” act), only those kids have my sympathy in that “family”.

Never forget what Brody did to Halle Berry. I guess Georgina does have a type.

    • FHMom says:

Ugh. That was so gross. Poor Halle.

      • Happy8 says:

Thank you for posting that. It was assault right there in front of us and the next day all people could say was how funny it was. I’m SO glad we can see moments like this differently now.

    • stormsmama says:

wow thanks for that clip! Her rage is visible and still everyone laughs to diffuse the shock and anger
      but WOW
yeah he totally assaulted her and we were all watching and just like Oh hahahaha cool
BUT SHES SO RIGHT (OF COURSE SHE IS!!!!)
      “WHAT THE F=CK?????”

I had never seen the WWHL clip but i had of course seen the oscars and remember that well. But had not reexamined it thru todays lens. Wow.
oh i so hate Adrian Brody now. Yes as Erinn said above HE IS “more similar to the criminal than the victim.”

    • Anna says:

Truth. and on what should have been the greatest day/moment for an actor especially as a Black woman making history. I loved his work in the Piano but since then, he disgusts me.

    • kerwood says:

I’m sure he thought it would be funny and ‘memorable’. But he should have asked Halle for her permission and that makes it all really stinky.

People like to slam Halle, A LOT, but I like her. I think she showed a lot of grace and class in that moment.

    • TQ says:

      @Dallas. EXACTLY!

  9. Jb says:

She knew she just didn’t care because her brand was benefiting from other woman’s pain. Karma hopefully will find her

  10. Deedee says:

He is gross inside and out.

  11. Why? says:

She’s stunning. Sorry but I have a total girl crush on her and don’t want her with brody. Hope it’s not true. Either be with a guy just as good looking as her outside and inside or be with me.

  12. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

So don’t focus on the inexcusable. Inexcusable is fodder…mistake fodder. Hmm. How tolerant of him. He sounds like a man with a shit ton to hide.

  13. JennyJenny says:

Isn’t he the guy that bought a castle for his girlfriend at the time, Elsa Patacky??

  14. dory says:

Georgina’s spokeman declined that she and Adrien are dating.

  15. Aimee says:

I don’t want to judge people on their looks but I don’t get it with him (Brody). And she has the WORST taste in men.

  16. kerwood says:

Maybe he promised to buy her a castle?

He’s a good actor, not Oscar worthy but good. ‘The Pianist’ is one of the most over-rated films in history, right up there with ‘Life is Beautiful’. I think he was much better in the film he did with Spike Lee.

Chapman is definitely NOT responsible for her husband’s crimes. But she DID benefit from his bullying and strong-arming actresses into wearing her ugly clothes. A LOT. Did anybody really think that A-List actresses were wearing this nobody’s frocks because they liked them?

Chapman had no problem reaping the money and fame that came along with being a ‘designer to the stars’. Did she look the other way while her husband terrorized women? Who knows? We do know that he took Lupita to his house, while his children were there. That can’t have been the first time. She must have heard about that. Was she even SLIGHTLY curious about what was up? Or was she too busy designing ugly schmatas that actresses were coerced into wearing on red carpets?

  17. Jax says:

I’m extremely tired today and until I got to the photos, I was picturing Adam Brody and I was like what?!?!? He said these things? I was a bit relieved when it clicked when I saw the photos of Adrien.

  18. Princeling says:

What’s so wrong about seperating art from the artist? Are you familiar with Louis-Ferdinand Céline? A pro-nazi but probably the greatest french writer of the 20th century.

  19. Cara says:

Amen to everything said in this article!!
I can’t help but feel Chapman has shade around the edges at the very least. Yuck!
Adrain Brody has always seemed like a boring weirdo to me. Yuck!

  20. JanetFerber says:

This argument, that an artist’s private life should be separate from his work, is basically the same argument made not only for Woody Allen and other repellent white men, but also repellent white men who are not artists: Donald Trump, Brett Kavanagh, etc., etc. etc. It’s basically that white men are sacrosanct and So Important to Society that their crimes should be off-limits to their professional endeavors, brushed aside as unimportant. The hell????

  21. L4frimaire says:

Her marriage to Weinstein was the very definition of transactional. I felt like when she made that statement about leaving him, it was not based on what he actually did, but only after some big name actresses started speaking out, who couldn’t be dismissed the way Rose Mcgowan was. At first she stood by her husband, but then didn’t when she started to feel the heat and her business was imploding. But hey, she gets to move on and still make those dated ugly gowns under that tainted label she should have retired.
