Duchess Meghan ‘constantly’ told Harry that ‘his mom would be so proud of him’

HRH Princess Beatrice

This is an incredibly stupid story but it’s also just a nice story, and nice stories are rarely written about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. I kind of think that Us Weekly had this cover story all written up before the Sussexes announced that they were suing the Mail on Sunday, and then Us Weekly was like “eh, f–k it, we won’t even mention it.” So here we go – some very positive and sugary coverage of Meghan and Harry:

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s relationship was stronger than ever on the tour: “It’s brought Harry and Meghan even closer,” a source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly of the couple’s trip with their 4-month-old son, Archie. “They’re calling it a life-changing experience. Meghan and Harry’s trip to Africa was better than they could’ve ever imagined.”

Harry doing special events to honor Diana: Meghan was “constantly telling him his mom would be so proud of him,” says the source. “It’s been an extremely emotional journey for Harry,” the insider went adds to Us. “Having the opportunity to continue his mom’s work there is extremely meaningful. It’s his way of paying tribute to [Princess] Diana.”

On Archie: “He’s a very strong baby,” a source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly. “He can even sit up for a few seconds.”

[From Us Weekly]

Can I just say? I’m a little bit surprised by just how big Archie is. When he was just three months old, he looked like he was too big and heavy for Meghan to carry. Meghan’s a small woman too – you would think that Archie would be a bit smaller too. But no. He’s already a BIG strong baby. As for Meghan telling Harry that Diana would be so proud of him… Meghan is just saying what we’ve been thinking for a while! Diana would be proud of him. I think about that all the time, especially with Invictus, and especially when Harry passionately defends Meghan: Diana would love that and she would be so proud of him.

Damn, that kid is a Windsor.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Yes, but interestingly he has hooded lids/lacking epicanthal folds (it appears). Perhaps a dash of Laplander or Asian heritage?

He is adorable, and I’ll bet he’ll be a real corker with tons of energy!

      • bonobochick says:

If you google for pics of baby / toddler Meghan, you’ll see Archie has her eyes in every way.

      • Valiantly Varnished says:

His eyes actually look exactly how Meghan’s looked when she was a baby.

      • grumpy says:

I’ve got eyes like that (a nickname was ‘slitty eyes’), i have heard it can be common in the Irish too, i assume that is where i got it from. His great great grandma was Lady Fermoy (and whilst the Roches came over in 1066, presumably some real Irish mixed in with them).

I wouldnt say he looks like Windsor but more he just looks so much like Harry did as a baby. He has some moments where he looks almost identical to Meghan. Given that he is mixed race, he will grow a series of changing looks over the years.

    • Bella DuPont says:

Regarding his size, yes, he is pretty big/long/tall. Just eyeballing it, he almost looks to me like he’s almost half Meghan’s height already! Unless I’m optically misjudging…..but if Meghan raised him a few inches so their heads are level, he looks like his feet would be just above her belly button, which would be approximately half her height.

I’m clearly overthinking it, but still. 🙂

    • Lucy De Blois says:

He’s the mirror of Harry. Nobody can deny he is the father.

  2. K-Peace says:

With the horrible nest of vipers that is his so-called “family”, i’m sure Harry misses his mother more than ever.

  3. OriginalLala says:

I still love that photo of Archie drooling over the cakes! You and me both kid, you and me both…

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

That’s probably from his lower central incisors coming in! He’s at that age.😊
      I miss the baby days!!

    • CuriousCole says:

His cake longing look IS everything lol. Although those cakes are beautiful, I don’t blame him. He’s such a gorgeous baby, I can’t wait to see what he’ll be like.

  4. Some chick says:

Diana WOULD be SO proud of him! No lie.

He’s really grown into his role. He and Meghan are a great match. I have nothing but good things to say about them. (And JUST LOOK at that GIANT BABY! Awwwwww.)

  5. Bc says:

Archie is adorable! I love those pics of him. He does look strong. I bet he will be those active children that are all over the place when he starts crawling. Videos of him laughing are the cutest! I adore him.

Harry is not my son, but if he were, i would be damn proud too. I think what would make Diana proud is the happiness of her children: them having the freedom to fall in love and marry whoever they want without restrictions, them starting families and getting healthy babies, them doing meaningful fulfilling work and them not being bothered by the RR, the BRF or the press…the last hurdle being the latter which is proving tedious. Though she loved the press, i do not think she would want that for them or for her grandkids, seeing how things turned out. I remember Diana saying that after agreeing on a divorce with their father, she went to their school and told them if they ever fell in love, they should fight for that love. She didnt want what had befallen her – a marriage of convenience – to befall them. I think she would be proud of Meghan. And yes, very proud of Harry defending her. I think Diana wouldve appreciated some support from Charles in her young marriage. Instead he was cheating on her and siding with the BRF and the RR. He was the worst. Im a Diana fan and very much biased, no apologies.

Archie really does look as big as I expected him to be at his age. He has Markle genes in him number 1. Thomas is like 6ft4 and Harry is 6ft2. He is gonna be an incredibly tall kid. wouldn’t be surprised if he is taller than Meghan by age 12. I do think Meghan will have a girl who looks exactly like her though.

  7. kerwood says:

Meghan probably knows better than anyone how his family’s betrayal has hurt Harry. To remind him that his mother would be proud of the things he’s doing and the life he’s living, is what a loving, caring spouse SHOULD do.

I’m proud of both of them.

  8. TheOriginalMia says:

That is a sweet story. I’m sure Diana would be proud of him. She would love his dedication to Sentabale and Invictus. She would be proud of the man he has become. And I’d like to think she would love Meghan.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I agree I think Diana would have had more in common with Meghan than Kate. Diana for her faults took her duties and patronages seriously which came across very strongly – she cared and wanted to do something. Diana was more than the clothes she wore.

  9. Marie says:

This story is sweet. I feel like Diana would be incredibly proud of Harry. He has grown so much and is a wonderful man, husband and father. He will fight to the death for Meghan and I know Diana wanted that from Charles. I feel like Harry and Meghan will make it because they will always put their relationship first. I’m proud of Harry for his statement. It is what a husband should do.
