Donald Trump’s supporters made a violent, terrorist propaganda video

Trump hosts the Third Annual 'Made in America' product showcase right on the White House Lawn

If you’re like me, you can go weeks without listening to Donald Trump speak. I actively avoid it and I change the channel when clips of Trump’s unhinged speeches begin to air. When you avoid listening to him for a week or two, his deeply unsettled, unwell mind comes into starker relief: this man is absolutely bonkers and he’s getting worse. He’s currently ignoring a genocide of our longstanding Kurdish allies at the hands of ISIS terrorists who he empowered. And he and his supporters are still making terrorist videos depicting Trump gunning down journalists/media outlets and Democrats.

A video depicting a macabre scene of a fake President Trump shooting, stabbing and brutally assaulting members of the news media and his political opponents was shown at a conference for his supporters at his Miami resort last week, according to footage obtained by The New York Times. Several of Mr. Trump’s top surrogates — including his son Donald Trump Jr., his former spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis — were scheduled to speak at the three-day conference, which was held by a pro-Trump group, American Priority, at Trump National Doral Miami. Ms. Sanders and a person close to Mr. Trump’s son said on Sunday that they did not see the video at the conference.

The video, which includes the logo for Mr. Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign, comprises a series of internet memes. The most violent clip shows Mr. Trump’s head superimposed on the body of a man opening fire inside the “Church of Fake News” on parishioners who have the faces of his critics or the logos of media organizations superimposed on their bodies. It appears to be an edited scene of a church massacre from the 2014 dark comedy film “Kingsman: The Secret Service.”

The disclosure that the video was played shows how Mr. Trump’s anti-media language has influenced his supporters and bled into their own propaganda. Mr. Trump has made attacks on the news media a mainstay of his presidency, and he tweeted a similar — but far less violent video — in 2017. In recent weeks as he has confronted impeachment proceedings, he has ramped up his attacks on the news media, repeatedly calling it the “enemy of the people.”

[From The New York Times]

I’m not including the video because CB and I have qualms about how this is truly propaganda for white supremacist terrorism. You can make the choice to watch it or avoid it – you can see it here if you want. it’s profoundly disturbing. The fact that Trump and all of his little Nazi supporters sit around and make videos like this is just… pathetic and disgusting.

  1. Mignionette says:

If this is what is left of his ‘core support base’ then impeachment really isn’t that far away…

  2. Claire says:

Holy moly. This is so frightening. I could only get through the first thirty seconds of the video. My five year old has more class, morality, and social intelligence than these clowns.

    • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

I can’t bring myself to watch it. To even JOKE about mass shootings, and with such glee… Makes me sick to my stomach. You just KNOW Dump loves it, and is crowing about it to his goonies. Probably already sent it to Putin.

I can’t believe how far we’ve fallen in 4 yrs.

    • Trashaddict says:

Why am I not surprised that all of his facial expressions seem to fit that scenario so well?
2nd thing I’ve learned is, probably not gonna go see Kingsman.

  3. TheOriginalMia says:

That scene was already disturbing. Watching Obama, Hillary and Maxine Waters being gunned down by Trump was horrifying. PBS, NPR? Seriously?! WTF is wrong with these people? He’s sanctioning murders, and the Republicans got their heads lodged in their butts because they are afraid of him. Cowards!

    • ChillyWilly says:

The GOP is not afraid of him. They AGREE with him and are very happy to let him do their dirty work.

      • Tourmaline says:

I think you are right. They love him. He is making their dreams come true. Many openly think he is sent by God. This is a lot harder to grapple with than thinking that once he is gone, things will be better. One of the two major political parties in the U.S. is all in on this stuff now because they see it is a winner with their base. That is horrifying and will not go away when one man does.

    • tiredTreaded says:

He’s good for real estate but bad for our basic safety. All those ppl making money are in the cross hairs just like anyone else.

  4. DaisySharp says:

Yes. I feel his face, his anus mouth, and the insanity that spews from it, is an attack on me and my mental health. I feel almost as if he is something Stephen King invented? Like, he actually has an anus-shaped mouth, and what spews out of it is dark, and dank, and evil, like hell’s sewer. Something close to “IT” actually. The real IT, from the book.

    And yes, he’s getting worse.

    • Esmom says:

He really is a disgusting creature. I don’t think I’ve ever known/heard of anyone with so very little humanity. He doesn’t seem to possess even a shred.

  5. MOT says:

He wants to be a leader as if this were Communist China or Russia. That kind of propaganda is so scary. Hopefully Republicans that are not crazy will step up and support the party and help to restore our country and constitution. This is spoken for my bleeding heart liberal (So I hope a democrat when’s the next election!)

  6. Jen says:

The fact that the event organizers are trying to claim they didn’t review any third party material…that Don Jr. is claiming he “didn’t see it” but hasn’t IMMEDIATELY and UNEQUIVOCALLY denounced it?

I am so sick of this campaign flirting with/ catering to white supremacy and clearly inciting violence and then trying to step away from it. I know this is pointless, but I can’t help it, every time…can we even imagine if a video of a superimposed “Barack Obama” shot “Trump” in the head was played at an Obama campaign event? Can we even begin to imagine the national reaction, especially from the right? How is this acceptable? How is this the world we live in?

It is so hard not to get lost in despair.

    • Esmom says:

I don’t know, I ask myself these questions every day. I honestly don’t know how people go about their days as if everything is normal. And Don Jr is the worst, the absolute worst.

    • Larelyn says:

i am failing to see much difference between this video and Kathy Griffin holding the bloody mask of Trump. They are both outrageous, horrible, and speak volumes of the psyche of the people involved in promoting such disturbing content.

      • whatWHAT? says:

if that’s the case, then 45 should suffer as much backlash as Griffin did. MORE actually, since Griffin is just a (self-proclaimed) d-list comedian, and 45 is the president of the US.

griffin was bashed by both “sides”, and lost a LOT of work. I want to see the 45 supporters reacting to this crap the same way they reacted to Griffin.

        I won’t hold my breath.

      • Tourmaline says:

ok Larelyn. Then I want at minimum a full FBI investigation of whomever put together and disseminated this video, and I want them shunned. Just like with KG.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

That is an actual threat. It intends to cause alarm, incites hard core believers, and is sanctioned by people who have the means to carry it out. The FBI better be preparing charges.

    • Lindy says:

It feels like being gaslit by a narcissistic sociopath, honestly. “The president doesn’t condone violence like what was represented in the video” says the official spokesperson.

And then he’s at rallies practically frothing at the mouth and inciting violence against anyone who disagrees with anything he says.

  7. LahdidahBaby says:

This is who his supporters are, it’s who he is. America, I was born and raised here, but I don’t know you anymore. I’ve been in emotional exile since November 2016, but even then I never imagined these depths. There are no limits anymore.

    • ChillyWilly says:

Same. I am deeply ashamed of what our country has become. What is happening in Syria is a travesty and will have unfathomable consequences for years to come.

      • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

Totally agree with you both. I said as much to my English friend (who now lives in Spain), and then asked if I could move into his villa (only *partially* joking!!)

  8. Frida_K says:

I couldn’t get through the whole thing–it’s horrifying.

What also struck me is that–once again–his crazy base sees him as a virile, healthy man. The real weekday occupant of the White House is overweight and slow. His center of gravity is so unstable that he can’t stand up straight in a healthy way. He needs help and guidance to get around even in fairly innocuous settings. And yet, for his deranged followers, he’s an incredibly powerful stud, a warrior, and a fighter.

They don’t see what’s really there, but they revel in the snippets of filth (the racism, the hatred, the grift) that they so readily connect with and that make up the fabric of his very foundation.

This clip is shameful and horrifying. It’s also quite on-brand for his kind of folks.

I hope for better for all of us in days to come.

    • DaisySharp says:

You make some really thoughtful points here. This is all so true.

    • Jerusha says:

“The real weekday occupant of the White House is overweight and slow.”

He walks like he’s holding in a fart.

    • boredblond says:

It’s always been more than ironic that this ‘strong’ old man is actually irrationally afraid of a long list of things – the combination of a sneezing person, a mosquito and a smudge of dirt on his suit would make him pee his pants (I’d pay to see that..)

    • Siul says:

      Very true!

  9. Donn says:

Remember Kathy Griffith and what outrage there was from Trump supporters (kind of rightfully so I do actually believe) but this is okay to them?

    • Swack says:

The hypocrisy is real. Agree that Griffith deserved the backlash.

      • Nic919 says:

She didn’t deserve the death threats and the investigation by the FBI. A magazine cover in poor taste may warrant criticism but that’s it. Dump put his psycho fans on her as well as the authorities.

    • whatWHAT? says:

add to the fact that she lost a TON of work.

and she’s a comedienne, SHE’S NOT THE GD PRESIDENT.

he should be held to a higher standard than a self-proclaimed d-list comedian.

  10. Tx_mom says:

Eek. I got into a brief discussion with some republican friends and wow, just wow. They’re circling the wagons around Trump, saying that asking a foreign leader for things is ok, presidents do it all the time, that Zelensky said he didn’t feel pressured, etc. They’re focused on the election and that Trump’s going to win it, not anything about the morality of what he does. They routinely use creepy nicknames for his opponents like “Fauxahontas” and 100% believe they are engaging in civil discourse when they do it. Both of them have teenaged sons joining the military and can’t see any disjoint between their ideas of the deep state swamp and their pride at being military families. Their own children will be literally putting their lives on the line for an erratic, self-dealing leader like Trump, and that’s just fine with them.

    • Claire says:

I live in a military town. The cognitive dissonance is truly mind boggling. My neighbor is a first generation Mexican American who is in the military and loves Trump. He literally has family on the Mexican border of Texas that is being directly affected and hurt by Trumps policies. I don’t get it.

    • Cindy says:

I think Trump and his supporters have a relationship of mutual corruption. The toxic support he gets makes him even more corrupt and unhinged, and seeing him more unhinged, makes his supporters even more toxic.

When Trump won, I didn’t want to believe everyone who voted for him was bad. Ignorant, maybe, easy to manipulate, etc. But not bad. I knew too many people I didn’t want to think were bad people. But not anymore. There’s so many people I’ve had to cut ties with because of this. People who never really cared about politics are now Trump fanatics who talk about it all the time.

That’s why I think impeachment, while necessary, shouldn’t be seen as a solution to the problem. Trump already succeeded in dividing the country. He changed the expectations people have of a Republican candidate. He validated unabashed racism and misogyny as a political stance. He turned the presidency of our nation into a joke. These are all damages that are already done and won’t go away, impeachment or not, reelection or not.

      • Claire says:

I do wonder if this is the beginning of the end to the office of the presidency. Perhaps in the future the President will be more a figurehead with no real authority. Like a small town mayor whose only duties are ribbon cuttings and parades.

  11. adastraperaspera says:

I think this sort of thing is being done and then publicized to distract from the impeachment. I assume this is why the Kurds are being massacred as well. Trump is part of a transnational organized crime group, and their goal is to destroy democracies to create space for fascist authoritarians like Xi Jinping, Putin and MSB to rule. They will do anything they can to shock and demoralize us–including violent propaganda and actual mass murder. Impeaching Trump weakens them.

    • Suz says:

I agree with you re: the genocide Trump is complicit in. I’ve always thought he will burn down everything and everyone before his ego gets taken down.

    • Trashaddict says:

My big question about this, is how sanctions against Turkey might benefit Trump’s business benefactors. Somebody needs to follow the money. That’s what it’s always been about.

  12. Veronica S. says:

It’s a matter of time before there is an attack, and then we’ll get to listen to all of the excuses as to how and why it happened.

  13. DaggerIsle says:

Oh, he is now saying the Kurds have deliberately set their ISIS prisoners free…

    There are no words.

  14. Jerusha says:

This is what one of his followers said on twitter, basically that they’re ex-presidents and government officials so, so what.
    https://twitter.com/bethsands1974/status/1183711881372094465?s=21
Other Cult45 members say it’s just a joke, blah, blah, blah, but funny, it murders all their most hated.

  15. AnnaKist says:

    Well, I’m gobsmacked. Again. Still.

  16. ReginaGeorge says:

It’s an old video that has been shared by idiot trump supporters for about a year, that was taken from a scene of the movie “Kingsmen”, probably made by some random. There is another one the left has shared of trump trying to escape the FBI and being apprehended using a scene from another movie. Vids like this are common on the internet. Stupid and immature, but not surprising.

What is disgusting is that it’s being played at HIS resort at one of HIS rallies with some of his official personnel attending. Almost as it was sanctioned by the top. He hasn’t condemned it. And you know he won’t. He has probably seen it and laughed at it. He is garbage. So are his people. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was in attendance and “claims” she didn’t see the vid. Yeah right. Don Jr was supposedly in attendance as well. This administration makes me sick.

    • Jerusha says:

But no comparison in the videos. The one from the left shows felons being apprehended. The one from the right shows people being slaughtered. Would not be surprised if it inspired some of his hateful, looney supporters. Remember the armed nut who showed up at the pizza place?

      • ReginaGeorge says:

Oh definitely, the video shared by the left was funny, but not at ALL disturbing as what is being portrayed by this video. Silencing of the media, killing innocent people. It’s just gross. And I sadly wouldn’t be surprised if it incites and inspires another “Pizzagate” or Gabby Gifford situation. Lordt, what a clusterf*ck this nation has become.

  17. Ceecu33 says:

Freebird is my favorite song, I know Lynyrd Skynyrd will never come forward and say don’t use our music but just damn. Ruin a perfectly good song for some terrorist agenda. Disgusting

    • Yamayo says:

I have finally watched the video and was coming back to say precisely that!
I love Freebird and it is so wrong to hear it as backdrop for this horrific juvenile and ridiculous video.

  18. jo says:

This is so sick. So many mass shootings in the U.S. have occured in places of worship. My sympathies to those families of victims of such mass shootings and all mass shootings.

  19. JRenee says:

    Sickening

  20. KellyRyan says:

Like you Kaiser the sound is turned off when Cheeto speaks. I feel psychologically battered if I listen. I live in Kern County, with the Kevin McCarthy, 23rd district, sycophant.

Fortunate, we have a local newspaper, owner and editor, whose recent editorial spoke in support of our constitution, against what we are doing to our allies, and taking a harsh approach to the 23rd districts lackey.

I wonder when the nightmare will end. This is not my America. My America has been the US Constitution, human rights, equal rights, immigration, inclusivity, contribution.

  21. Niaa says:

I’m Kurdish and have been in total despair since Trump green-lighted genocide at the hands of Erdogan’s Turkey. His base still support him despite knowing that a literal massacre of children and civilans is happening due to Trump’s decision. They think that ‘we need to let them figure it out on their own’ and ‘we need to pull out of Middle East’ not knowing that the US troops were safe and merely there to protect Kurds who fought tirelessly against ISIS. Now hundreds soon reaching thousands of ISIS detainees have escaped because Kurds cannot defend themselves and guard the prisons. The ISIS escapees have joined Turkish military, a NATO ally, to slaughter the Kurds. I feel utterly hopeless and can only ask PLEASE PLEASE do not vote for Trump in 2020. His is completely unstable and unreliable!

    • The Recluse says:

It is infuriating and sickening what has been done to the Kurds. Trump and Erdogan need to tried at the Hague.

    • Grace says:

They are both horrible. The difference is Kathy G. is a “regular citizen” and he is the president of the country. It’s also like she used a shotgun and he used an AR-15. He, and his cronies should suffer the same consequences she did, or actually more…bring out the FBI, just like they did for her.

    • Grace says:

Niia, I am horrified at the decision 45 has made regarding the Kurds. There is no loyalty or humanity left in that man. I don’t know what to say other than I stand with you and trying to use the”mighty pen” to protest his actions.

  22. smcollins says:

That was……wow…..just when you convincingly kid yourself into thinking that his supporters couldn’t possibly sink any lower along comes this whatever-the-hell-that-was. Disturbing & horrifying doesn’t begin to cover it.

  23. Valerie says:

He’s right about one thing, and one thing only: When he leaves the WH, either by vote or impeachment, there will be violence. And the blood will be on his hands. His supporters are extreme enough to incite it because they live to create conflict.

  24. Jaded says:

I’m sitting up here in Canada watching this unimaginably vile story unfold and thinking what in the name of all thing sane and good and democratic is happening just south of the border. When this kind of vitriolic, video-game violence is being done in the name of the President of the Unites States. He and his foaming-at-the-mouth followers are turning the entire country into a real-life, murderous, greedy dictatorship AND HIS SUPPORTERS LOVE IT! It’s like the entire country has morphed into a bunch of basement-dwelling gamers in their mothers’ homes spending all day eating cheeseburgers and KFC and playing the most violent, misogynistic, video war-games where they kill and rape and plunder the entire planet in the name of Trump the overlord.

Yes, that is my take on what’s happening in the U.S. and I am soooo sorry for all you good Americans who abhor this presidency and have to stand by and watch all the goodness that is America crumble under this tin-pot despot.

  25. Jerusha says:

Brian Kilmeade of Faux and Friends is on trump’s 💩 list for saying the following: ‘Yeah, they’re carving up the Kurds right now and we’re just moving out.’

As LBJ said, “ When you’ve lost Walter Cronkite….”

  26. JanetFerber says:

I’m sure he loved it and sent out coded messages to his fans confirming it; for his other constituency, the normal, he “condemned” it. Truth and lies floating through the ether like fairy dust or spent bullets. What a filthy, filthy era Chump has made with his myrmidons.

  27. Digital Unicorn says:

I despair for my American friends, when you think it can’t get worse it does. I have several American colleagues who live in London and have all categorically said they will never return to the US while he is President and they fear for the safety of their families and country. Here in the UK its not that much better as we have our own Trump wannabe with Boris who also seems to be losing it over not getting what he wants over Brexit.

He’s losing his sh!t because he’s realising that he can’t bully or buy his way out of this – he’s terrified at the thought of leaving office as when he does he’ll be indicted for serious crimes that come with jail sentences. This is a man baby that has NEVER EVER EVER been held accountable for anything in his miserable life – the thought of being held accountable for their behaviour scare the sh!t out of them. Trump is a toddler running scared.

Come join me at the bar – cocktails for everyone!!

  28. Pineapple says:

Um Brian … you spell site with an e.

  29. Beer&Crumpets says:

I can’t think of a single thing about Trump, his toadies, and even the GOP that -isnt- pathetic and disgusting.

    Not one thing.
