We learned that Rep. Elijah Cummings passed away at the age of 68. He was one of the most powerful and righteous men to ever walk the halls of Congress. He will be sorely missed in the wars to come. [NYT]
I know. I was awake when they I received an alert early this morning. Such a true man of integrity, grit, passion and dedication. I will miss him greatly as I know that most of the country will as well. May Representative Cummings RIP.
Lovely & fitting description of Rep. Cummings, Kaiser. I knew you would acknowledge his passing. Here’s hoping Congress honors his memory in the best possible way & continues the Good Fight.
I am sincerely grieving the loss of Elijah Cummings. It was a dream of mine to meet him one day and it hurts to think that he didn’t live to see better days for this country that he loved so much and served so well.
I’m pondering what action can I take, what good trouble or honorable deed I might commit to doing so that I honor his memory.
If we all committed to one good deed or good trouble in honor of his memory, imagine the changes we could see.
May he rest in power, never forgotten and always loved.
Elijah Cummings was the best of us. Condolences to his family.
“Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”

Elijah’s passing is truly devastating. I think one person on Twitter best summed it up: this country just took and took from him constantly. When I think of all he has done to push for true equality and justice…it’s heartbreaking. He even mentioned that “I might be dancing with the angels” when this clusterf*ck is resolved…he probably knew that he wouldn’t survive to see the conclusion of this impeachment investigation. RIP to a monumental figure.
Cast Bill Hader in all the things!!
Very sad news about Rep. Cummings. RIP

Well said, I agree. He’d want everyone to keep fighting hard, because it’s so important for the future.
I hope folks can finally relax about the typo now that it’s been corrected.
Rest in Power, Elijah Cummings.
Paul Dano! Even better!
