Here are some photos of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco. They visited the Monegasque Red Cross office and “presented gifts to disadvantaged people.” Which made me wonder, because Monaco is a tax-free playground for billionaires, tennis players, gamblers and gangsters. But I suppose there are disadvantaged people in even the wealthiest playgrounds.
Anyway, I just like to check in on poor Charlene every now and then. She’s not lighting the world on fire with her constant royal work, but she and Albert seem to have gotten to a more relaxed place. Since giving birth to twins Gabriella and Jacques, she has not been forced into the insemination dungeon and I believe Albert basically lets Charlene raise the kids outside of Monte Carlo. So why does Charlene still look so… I don’t know, drugged? I swear, she looks like she’s blitzed out on Quaaludes.
I was also going to say something about how we haven’t seen her out and about in a while, but really, I just don’t pay attention to the Grimaldis all the time and I’ve missed some of their appearances. I also missed the fact that Charlene posts cute photos of the twins on her Instagram! I’m sure this is operated by staff, but still – it’s very cute and I would love to see other royal women do their own individual Instagrams.

Is it possible that it’s in part just how her face is? I don’t mean that as a joke, or an insult lol. Some people have ‘resting bitch face’, some people have features that look more forlorn than others.
There’s something about the photo of the twins that looks sort of sad, too, which is why I kind of think it’s at least in part just the combination of her features when she’s at a neutral state. At least, I do hope that it’s more along those lines than her actually living a life that unhappy.

I’m sorry to differ, but she never, ever, had such sad and miserable face. Please, you can search on google all, and I mean, all the pictures previous to the wedding. And by wedding, I’m not talking that horrible show on white dress, I’m talking about the civil wedding too. Until that moment, no picture, absolutely none, showed that face. In all of them, her face is glowing with a healthy appetite for life.
I’ve been following her by the press for a long time, since the day I saw the most terrible display of grief a bride can show. I searched for years: sites of gossips and other sources. Pictures of her victories, her parties, with Albert… Her eyes were always shine and her face happy. Many people say it’s the result of facial surgery. No way. There’s no surgery made by man, with the power to make the eyes so opaque and empty. It’s like if there’s no one there…. It’s like an empty and desolate house. The last pictures I saw, she doesn’t even bother anymore to try to disguise. Her pain is so deeply rooted that shows like faces I just saw in few funerals or in hospitals, on the wings of terminal patients.
I don’t believe at all at the story of the illegitimate son. I’ve read something here and there a lot more logical to justify her misery all over this years, and the despair on the wedding day, and the trying to fly the country before the marriage, than that patched up fairtale of an illegimate child. If it was so, she would be furious, mad, enraged even, but the things would be fixed between the young newly married. Curious, no one heard anything anymore about that child. Vanished into thin air. No gossip, no news, nothing. And yes, Kaiser is right from the beginnig: she is and always was a prisioner bride. She could have escaped, many say. Rubbish, you don’t escape from a royal family if they decide you won’t: the guy is head of a princedom, for crying out loud!
I prefer her “resting sad face” to big toothy manic grins.

Yeah that seems to be her default facial expression. Not that she is never photographed smiling — but not a big smiler.
Her son looks a lot like her and has that similar kind of set to his face.

That’s how the rich stay rich, at least when it comes to paying other people. I’ve worked for a rich family, and the mother always claimed she was still the same poor farm girl she’d grown up as. No, not when you’re ordering a custom $3600 light fixture for over the stove. While their kitchen renovation was ongoing, they ate out every night, and the local restaurant waitstaff (small town) hated to see them coming in because they rarely tipped.
She doesn’t look high to me. I honestly think that’s just her face. She has that same look all the time and I just think that’s how her face sits. People tell me I look angry or mad in photos but it’s just because I hate my smile and I have resting bitch face ala Victoria Beckham. And when I tru to make an effort to NOT look mad my face looks a lot like Charlene’s lol.
She does look sad or checked out, but reminds me of a Victoria Beckham as well, or a grown up Wednesday Addams with blonde hair.
If I was wearing that outfit in public, I think I’d look sad too! 😉

The gossipy part of me was wondering if Charlene is pregnant again, or has just developed a fondness for retro 70s vest coats. But her face is so botoxed, I think it cancels out any idle speculation on that part.

I rarely smile in pictures either because it never looks natural. It looks fake or forced to me.It looks like the person beside me is holding me captive and I’m signaling for help. I really just think that is how she is.
It’s genetics, the kids have it too. Really beautiful people with forlorn looks. Beside she looks like just got some Botox, maybe that is the reason she can’t smile.

I think Kaiser is exactly right and in our collective desire to imagine royal day to day lives as “just like us” we fail to acknowledge how prevalent and normalized drug culture is among aristocrats and the billionaire set.

Also she does quite a bit of work for the “job” she has and where they are. Monaco is a tiny country with a vast majority of its population being very privileged. She’s not expected to do the kinda work the Brits -should be- do(ing).
And of 2017 her foundation was running 73 different projects in more than 20 countries (it focuses mainly on swimming/water safety and the importance of sport). Seems like shes doing quite a good big of work to me.
Disadvantaged people in Monaco? Yes probably. I used to work in Beausoleil France and if I crossed over the street I was Monaco. Lots of disadvantage people in Beausoleil. Most of the rich people in Monaco are not native born. It’s kind of rare to meet a real Monegasque and they are not necessarily rich.

BRF needs to do some actual “work” instead of all the constant vacationing.
They live lives of unimaginable wealth, go on tour for 10-12 days and take 3-6 months off.
I think they are batshit crazy too but, that looks pretty easy compared to working for a living, like most of us do.
