What will happen with Princess Beatrice’s wedding in the wake of her dad’s mess?

Royal Wedding Alert! Princess Beatrice is engaged to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi **FILE PHOTOS**

I think Prince Andrew is one of the most disgusting people to ever exist. But I feel sorry for his daughters. Think about it, think about growing up with those two parents. Fergie is batty and Andrew is a dull pervert. It’s a wonder that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie ended up somewhat normal and barely productive (more so in Eugenie’s case, her job is in the art world). Well, is this the moment to have a little extra sympathy for Beatrice? Possibly.

Beatrice fast-tracked her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi this year and there was a blitz of pleasant PR around Beatrice and how she “finally” found someone to marry her. Poor Beatrice, the last single girl, everyone would compare her wedding to her sister’s. We learned that Beatrice wanted a smaller, quieter Windsor wedding and that she wouldn’t do the princess thing with a carriage or anything. But in the wake of Andrew’s catastrophic BBC interview, what will happen with Beatrice’s wedding??

Princess Beatrice is due to get married in 2020, but after her father, Prince Andrew, gave an unprecedented interview, some worry her wedding could bear the brunt of the fallout. Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, took part in an interview about his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died earlier this year. However, the attempts to answer questions only raised more, and the Duke’s interview was described as a “car crash”, with some expecting it to hurt his immediate family.

Prince Andrew’s eldest daughter Princess Beatrice got engaged to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi this year. The couple had yet to announce a date for the nuptials but said it would take place at some point in 2020. But now, some royal experts are questioning what impact the Duke’s interview could have on his daughter’s big day.

Royal expert and author Marlene Koenig tweeted: “Beatrice’s wedding will be collateral damage. I will not be surprised if she has a rather quiet wedding, out of the public eye, with a few photos, no live coverage.”

[From People]

As I’ve been saying for weeks, I find it VERY interesting that Beatrice hasn’t set the date. My thought was that they were waiting for the Andrew stories to die down (pre-interview), but now I guess they’ll have to wait even longer to set the date. And yes, Beatrice is going to end up getting some super-quiet wedding in the closet of Balmoral or something. If I was in Bea’s position, I would just use this as an excuse to get married in Italy, on Edo’s family’s property. That is, if Edo is going to stick around. Because if I was in Edo’s position, I would bail.

  1. Tiffany says:

    Elope. They can afford it.

Then just throw a big party. In private.

  2. DaisySharp says:

I’d bail too. He’s an idiot if he doesn’t.

    • ira says:

But why? It’s not Beatrice fault to have a father like Andrew.

      • LadyLaw says:

I mean that’s true. But personally if I already had a child I would not want to potentially, knowingly expose them to a pedophile. Isn’t Wolfie supposedly going to live with them? Is Bea’s dad never going to come over?

(Although of course he probably already knew he was a pedo)

      • Aoife says:

Having that for a father-in-law? Unless he’s absolutely head over heels in love with her as a person, and was not in it for the social connections, he should bail.

      • DaisySharp says:

It’s not about blame. I wouldn’t tether myself to this family. Love wears thin. That’s my experience. Not worth it. I’d say bye and catch the next bus which will be along soon enough. They always are.

Aoife nails it above. Yeah, if I was absolutely, soul-shatteringly head over heels…maybe.

        He’s not. Don’t kid yourself.

      • CynicalCeleste says:

Which is why I hope he does bail. This girl has enough damage thanks to her crap parents, she needs a quality therapist not a crap eurotrash fake husband.
Sorry y’all, the brf has got me super bitchy this morning.

      • Ravine says:

I don’t think Andrew is an equal-opportunity pedo. From what we know, he’s a heterosexual ephebophile (i.e. he is sexually attacted to teenage girls).

    • Rhys says:

Why should he bail because of her father? He is not a 17 y.o. girl so he has nothing to worry about. He’ll be living off of the millions Prince Andrew gives his daughter and enjoy great social connections. Bea might be a nice person to live with as well. I don’t see him bailing.

  3. Mignionette says:

If I was Bea I would use this as an excuse to have the destination wedding of my dreams in Italy on Mapozzi money.

That way no obligation to the paps etc and I can tell the tax payer to fux off and wear whatever the fux I want. Sell the pictures to the highest bidder to cover the costs.

  4. Becks1 says:

Her wedding is definitely going to be a lot quieter than Eugenie’s. I wonder if she will go the route of Zara and have it in Scotland – there were still pictures and such from Zara’s wedding but it was much less of a “thing” than Eugenie’s and I don’t think it was broadcast live.

Or she could have a small ceremony and reception here and then do a big party in Italy?

I feel bad that her wedding is going to be affected but I feel worse that she has Andrew for a father, kwim?

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Yeah – there is NO WAY after that interview she will have a public wedding like her sister. I feel bad for her as she should have the wedding day she wants but she won’t all because of Daddy.

  5. The Long-suffering Sequin says:

Come on Edo, shed your beard.

  6. VS says:

This is the appropriate time for Melania’s deeply inappropriate Jacket ‘Really don’t care, Do U?’

Have you considered that Prince Andrew might be thinking that he needs to get his scandal out of the way, so that Beatrice can marry next year?

I think she should do something super private and get it over with!

    • Tourmaline says:

I agree with you that Beatrice’s wedding was likely a motivation to try to get the scandal out of the way. Andrew and his ex love the royal pomp and Beatrice is their last chance at a princess bride to burnish their janky reputations.

      • VS says:

Fergie is a piece of work! that woman is complicit; why isn’t anyone asking the money she borrowed from Jeffrey? Did she ever reimburse it? She also had relations with a well known pedophile; yet she is somewhere promoting god damn knows what!!! She should also be questioned but I don’t think she is that innocent in the whole Andrew-Jeffrey connection

      • Tourmaline says:

@VS right and don’t forget that when Palm Beach police raided Epstein’s mansion in 2005 they found a phone message pad with the note “HRH Duchess of York Sarah (Fergie) is expecting your call”. Right alongside all the phone messages setting up underage masseuses.

She was in Saudi Arabia promoting god knows what just last week.

      • Jen says:

I think Fergie is absolutely associated, but it’s not much of a story because she’s no one official now. Prince Andrew is a Counselor of State, sent out on royal engagements, etc. Fergie does her “work” on a private basis as a private citizen.

  7. ShazBot says:

One thing I’ve always felt legitimately terrible for all the royal kids is in finding a partner. I can’t imagine trying to have relationships with people when you come in with so much public knowledge of your life – how do you trust anyone and their motives? I truly believe Will married Kate because she was “good enough” – there wasn’t huge passion, but he likes her, her family, and they’re dependable and appropriately worshipful to his ego. I don’t know much about Jack Brooksbank, but I also got the sense that Dave Clark was only with Bea because of her circle and the connections he got. As soon as she was bumped out of needing the Queen’s permission to marry and the pressure turned up, he went and got himself a wife elsewhere.
Anyways, I hope Edo does actually love her – they’ve known each other for years and years, so I hope he knows all her family sh*t and actually just loves her for her.

  8. Mumbles says:

I would use a stronger word than “batty” for Fergie. I think she’s gross. I think she knows all about Andrew’s predilections (read: crimes) and has supported herself via blackmail. And I want to know why she “borrowed” money from Epstein (more blackmail?). And it seems she also has fashioned a career making personal appearances for idiots desperate for “royal-adjacent” association.

    • Gabby says:

This. There is nothing Fergie won’t stoop to for money and status.

    • Jenns says:

I have a theory that Fergie sees this as he moment to get back into the family. I don’t know what will happen with Beatrice, but wouldn’t rule out a wedding between Andrew and Fergie as another awful attempt to deflect from this mess.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Fergie has been trying to get back into the family for years. I have always thought that once Philip passes Andrew will marry her again. Philip is the only reason that has never happened as he reportedly can’t stand her.

      • Tourmaline says:

Andrew doesn’t want to marry her again. Watching them together in public, even at Eugenie’s wedding last fall, there is no true affection between them at all.

She has been greedily grasping for every goody she can get since she hit the royal scene, and I think all those Sussex haters who complain about renos at Frogmore Cottage should look at why a woman who has been divorced from a royal for the past 20 plus years is allowed to live rent free in royal housing.

      • Gabby says:

Tourmaline, you think? I admit I’ve never really paid attention to them, in their public appearances. I do wonder why Prince pedo has never had another serious relationship, I’ve always assumed it was because he still loved Sarah.
Yes, what about the rent-free situation? And if Andrew pays her bills, that money surely came from the public some kind of way.

      • Mignionette says:

@Gabby I suspect that Andy has never remarried as doing so would not allow him to continue to indulge his predilections for ‘under age prostitutes’.

I wrote here a few months ago that Fergie was likely a beard for Andy and I stand by that more firmly than ever. They likely threw Fergie’s toe sucking under a bus to distract from Andy’s closet of horrors and now his chicken’s are coming home to roost.

If anything Fergie is losing her hold over Andy as his sh*t is all out for public viewing.

  9. S808 says:

Elope or destination wedding at this point.

  10. Charfromdarock says:

I honestly don’t think I would be able to continue a relationship unless my partner cut off their child rapist of a father out of their lives especially if I had my own child.

I know it’s more complicated because they are Royal but man oh man. It’s pretty much the most horrible crime you could commit.

    • BayTampaBay says:

If I were Edo, I would be worried about getting thrown under the bus as Meghan & Harry have. Never, underestimate what the Windsor-Mountbatten family will and can do to non-born family members if the situation gets desperate enough.

      • lanne says:

He’s a man. No one cares about royal men. Most people probably can’t name Tim Lawrence or Mike Tindall. It’s the women who marry in who get all the shit because of our stupid “princess fantasy.” The only married-in who escaped was Autumn Phillips b/c Peter has no title. Even Sophie got shit when they tried to make her Diana 2.0. I don’t think any man has suffered for marrying in. Not Antony Armstrong-Jones, Mark Phillips, Jack Brooksbank and neither will Edo Mozzi

  11. Rapunzel says:

If things get worse, Andrew might make her get married at the Pizza Express in Woking.

  12. Nicegirl says:

I have been wondering about Bea’s wedding!

  13. Livvers says:

I truly do not feel any extra sympathy for the fact that Andrew’s scandal might affect Beatrice’s wedding planning. It’s called “life,” and it comes for everyone – even the incredibly privileged. Family members pass away, people lose jobs, budgets get scaled back, friend drama blows up, your father goes to prison, a hurricane hits your resort destination. 1. All of those events affect more than just the bride, most of them more profoundly than the bride (e.g. such as your father’s victims) 2. Every bride these things happen to eventually just has to get on with it if she wants to get married, even princess brides.

  14. heygingersnaps says:

I have absolutely no sympathy for her. I’m not even sorry for feeling that.

    • Abby says:

Why? Is any of this her fault?

      • heygingersnaps says:

She and her sister both probably have heard the rumours that have been going on for years and yet they still continue to stand by their pedo dad and grifter mother. The irony that Eugenie is championing anti-slavery when dad was and probably is still involved in trafficking. They’re probably hoping this will go away and beatrice can have the wedding that her parents think they as a family deserve.

  15. What. . .now? says:

I wonder if Andrew will still want a BIG wedding for her like Eugenie? Because, as the headlines say, Andrew thought his interview went great. He probably thinks, “Now, that I’ve got that out of the way and things *are back to normal*, let’s see if the BBC will put Bea’s wedding on the telly!”

Eugenie’s wedding seemed almost more about Fergie and Andrew than Eugenie and Jack.

Poor Bea. I don’t think her fiance will leave her. Remember when they first got engaged many stories came out about how Bea and Edoardo’s families have known each other for DECADES. As a grown ass man, Edoardo is well aware of who Andrew is and what kind of man he is, so I doubt this new “wrinkle” will have an effect on their engagement.

If their families have known each other for ages — then, I’m gonna say that his family is probably just as shady and grifty as hers. Like gravitates towards like. For proof: Check the white house and all the disgusting grifty, grifters and liars and cheats that all seemed to find a home in this administration. Good people don’t hang around bad people. . .not for decades. . .

    • Tourmaline says:

Yep I am sure he still thinks she deserves the big royal wedding. And with his pull over the Queen I’m sure he thinks he can still make that happen. And he’s probably right. The line from the palace is that things will be “business as usual” with Andrew and I’m sure they will push for Beatrice to have an equivalent wedding to Eugenie’s.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

They’ll struggle to get interest not just from the media but from the public – no one will be interested in her wedding after that interview.

  16. LRobb says:

I would vote for a private wedding the the royal chapel so her grandparents can attend and then a destination wedding in Italy. Beatrice should have her day in her own style away from the UK public. It can be done.

  17. Miriam says:

I have no sympathy for them knowing they hocked up whilst hes living with his baby mama!!! I think Beatrice is settling as she’s the only one still unmarried and considering the recent string of divorces in the family(including her parents) she doesn’t seem bothered about his lack of affection for her+clearly enjoying the spotlight. I guess it’s a marriage of convenience/mutual understanding

  18. Bookworm says:

It should be about Beatrice and Edo. Have the wedding you want. We shouldn’t pay for the sins of our parents.

  19. RoyalBlue says:

As the royal family all have blinders in and are out of touch with the people I will bet my hat and say the wedding is on with full pomp and circumstance. Andrew thinks he has paid for his misjudgments by having the interview. He thinks that’s his penance and can now go to church without a guilty conscience.

    Abolish!

  20. Maria says:

I think they will probably opt for one of the private chapels, with no media coverage.

  21. westcoastbestcoast says:

Regardless of her dad being a dumpster fire, that whole family in desperate need of therapy and being the last single girl standing, I wouldn’t marry Edo. Dude legit looks like the villain in a Hallmark Christmas movie where some blue collar chick becomes a nanny to a prince in a foreign country (that doesn’t exist) and this guy is trying to break them up so he can somehow become king.

  22. A says:

I’m thinking this engagement doesn’t last. I think they didn’t want to get engaged so quickly, at least Eduardo didn’t. He’s a famewhore, that’s true, but even he had his reservations, and I’m sure he was roped into it by Fergie for the good press, and Beatrice because she desperately wants to be engaged and not to be the last one left on the shelf. Either they keep it quiet and get married early in the next year, or they call off the engagement.

  23. JanetFerber says:

I know it’s wrong to say this and I do feel guilty, but . . . There’s no way in hell that pretty scammer would even look at Beatrice if there weren’t tremendous goodies waiting for him at the end of this rainbow. I hang my head in shame.

  24. Amelie says:

It doesn’t bode well they haven’t announced a date yet. For all we know though, maybe Beatrice and Edoardo have picked a date but haven’t announced it due to Andrew’s shenanigans. If I were Beatrice, I’d be SO PISSED at Andrew right now for making things 1000 times worse with that interview. I wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t allow him to attend or at least did not allow him to accompany her down the aisle. And if she hasn’t considered that yet, she should because if her father is there, all the media will talk about is how her pedophile father is overshadowing her day. They are probably waiting to see how things pan out and at this point, they’ll either 1) call the whole thing off (sorry Bea!!) 2) Have the wedding in Italy/elsewhere in Europe. She’s the last adult royal cousin to be married for awhile, why not make it fun and a destination wedding? The media will talk about her wedding even if it’s not televised because of Prince Andrew so she really can’t win here.

I don’t get great vibes from Edoardo though so if this relationship falls to pieces, I won’t feel too bad for her. I really think she could do better!

    • Mignionette says:

At this stage it will be touch and go and 50:50 for these two to make it up the aisle. The paedo allegations are not disappearing any time soon for Andy, so they will need to ride out that wave first. Announcing a wedding in the middle of this mess = PR disaster. However at the same time the longer this drags on with no wedding announcement then the bigger the disaster for Bea and greater likelihood Eddo will bail.

If he’s only in this for the position/ contacts etc then this deal just went south and very sour as the York’s embrace their pariah status. It is the very antithesis of what Eddo was hoping to marry into.

  25. Minxx says:

They should have a private wedding in Italy, away from the British press. That being said, I have my doubts about Edo, I hope he doesn’t break her heart…
