“And Id like to thank God….Harvey, Weinstein!”
    – Meryl Streep

If you didn’t “know” Meryl, then why did you tell both your daughters about him being a predator when they started out acting?

    Meryl Streep is a POS.

    • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

MS is, IMO, coasting on her laurels, phoning it in for the most part. At this point, she could film herself farting and get a nomination.

Like Carina said, she’s a Weinstein supporter. Done.

      • SM says:

While I agree in part with the first part and Amy Phoeler and Tina Fey made a joke about that when they hosted GG, saying that Meryl has a flue and is amazing doing it so expect her to come back, next time they made a joke about how she sent people into the woods to collect whatever will get her another GG. Amy and Tina are amazing and Ricky will never match them, is what I am saying.
But I would be careful with your canceling, she as any other woman is not responsible for Harvey. Just stop putting blame on women.

      • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

SM… I am “cancelling” HER due to her SUPPORT for Weinstein. HE is responsible for ALL of the reprehensible things he has done. PERIOD. Just like those that support Woody Allen and Roman Polanski, *I* will NOT put ANY support, or dollars, behind them or their work, male OR female.

    • lucy2 says:

Where are you finding that? All I can find is that she said she and her daughters discussed it AFTER all the news broke.
Meryl has been disappointing on a personal level lately, and I do think she is over-nominated for stuff, but I don’t think she’s a “Weinstein supporter”. She’s not out there pulling a Scarlett.

    • Brinibini says:

I hope you think the same about Clooney, Damon and all the other guys who were buddies with Weinstein. If not, then you’re just sexist.

      • Carina says:

        @BriniBini

I do think the same. I’m sorry you can’t use the sexism excuse, thanks for playing. Nobody put a gun to Meryls head when she said the god quote. I’m sure she’s quite happy people like you will distract & defend by making it about gender, congrats.

  2. BellaBella says:

Wow, I really did not like this movie Meryl was nominated for. In fact, I didn’t even finish it. And her performance didn’t strike me as anything worthy of a nomination. I appreciate her talent, but let other women be recognized!

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

You know… At my son’s football games, if they’re killing it like say 30- or 40-something to zero, game play is drastically eased. They play it out with third or fourth string players. I agree with you regarding this woman. I’ve enjoyed her acting throughout my life, and now I’m enjoying her daughters’ talent for Pete’s sake. Enough is enough lol.

    • Jadedone says:

She wasn’t nominated for the Laundermat she was nominated for Big Little Lies so you are 100% right, not worthy of a nomination 🙂

  3. emmy says:

She’s great, no doubt. But the past 10 years she’s been playing the same person in different costumes basically. With few exceptions.

  4. sammiches says:

So on the Lizzo story, while I love her dearly, I don’t think it’s okay for anyone to sit their thonged ass down on a chair in a public venue.

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

100 percent agree. We have rules as a society. Can’t eat and shop barefoot and/or shirtless. Did we need reminding pantless is not an option either? Apparently so.

    • CoffeeShot says:

I agree. I wasn’t impressed by people degrading her body, but that was just inappropriate. It was worse than a Lena Dunham style call for attention. And, like Lena, I suspect she will be a super ‘feminist’ victim in the PRgame.

    • Betsy says:

I’ve been in the tank for Lizzo since Batches and Cookies, but I… I am tired of seeing her basically nude on her Instagram account. It feels like an invasion and exploitative somehow, even though I know she’s doing it under her own power. She’s so talented that she doesn’t need to do this stuff. At least not all the time, and not at a game.

  5. Zantasia says:

Lizzo! Think of the children! And their parents having a hard time explaining why they have to wear pants. Lol! I can’t stop thinking about how a kid would see that and be like – hey – why can’t I take these off and be free too? I find it funny, but also yes, I wouldn’t want the old stadium food and beverages getting in my business. I’m sure they don’t wipe down every seat after each game.
    She got what she wanted—attention

  6. No Doubt says:

OMG….Lizzo…just stop. I’m so glad she’s happy with her body, but the thirst is real with this one.

  7. SK2 says:

    Re: banana art, duct tape!

  8. Jaded says:

Sorry not sorry…that Lizzo moment was really f*cking rude. Revel in your body girl, clap back on all those body shamers but for the love of God(dess) don’t shove your ass in our faces in front of millions of viewers. Really trashy, attention-grabbing behaviour.

  9. Andrea says:

zero people of color, racist Hollywood … look at the #me too .. old actresses who do not give opportunity to others better than them … they all seem the nominees of the same publicist

    • Carina says:

I am sickened that When They See Us & Watchmen were shut out but Ryan Murphy got the HFPA (likely bribery/kickback channel thru Netflix) to nominate The Politician (WTF) for Best Comedy. That show by all accounts sucked & critics hated it. No Schitts Creek either. Pathetic. Same sh*t different year.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I agree with your overall point that the lack of nominations for POC is inexcusable, but you can’t lay the blame at the feet of “old actresses”. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is the group that gives the nominations. They are journalists, not actors.

  10. Lucy says:

Meryl is so overrated and Lizzo is vulgar.
