29 year-old Channing Tatum has a semi-sordid past as a male stripper who went by the name of Chan Crawford. Channing worked his magic for the ladies for about a year in Florida in 1999, when he was barely legal at 18. US Weekly has a video of Channing stripping and he does this whole Backstreet Boys-type routine in a big shirt and baggy pants, stripping down to a tiny guy thong.

Usmagazine.com has obtained a video of Channing Tatum, 29, dancing in a Chippendales-style revue called Male Encounter in 1999.

Then 18, the star — who performed under the alias “Chan Crawford” — approached the troupe’s owner London Steele at a now-defunct Florida nightclub about a job.
“He was shy at first, but he really knew how to work the stage,” Steele tells Us, adding that Tatum lip-synched in the act and earned $50 a night (plus tips) during his year-long stint.
“The women went crazy for him!” Steele added.
Unfortunately for them, the revue had a strict no-nudity policy.
Nevertheless, the actor — who wed his Step Up costar Jenna Dewan on July 11 — was so impressive he caught the eye of a female casting agent who put him in Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs” music video.

Some of the commenters on US Weekly’s site are pretty outraged that they would post this video, and are saying things like “shame on you, you’re lowering your standards,” and “just leave him alone.” I thought it was kind of hot, and after seeing the drool-worthy shirtless photos of this guy, it’s nice to see him in action. He does stick his hands down his pants at one point, but that’s about the worst of it and US Weekly says he never did the full monty. He’s practically jailbait in this video, though, and I don’t want to think too much about the fact that I’m watching a teenager. Many celebrities worked as strippers early in their “careers”, but it’s rare to see a video like this. Do you think Tatum regrets that this video is out? He just married actress Jenna Dewan, 28, in July. Did Tatum tell Jenna about his stripper past, or is she just finding out like the rest of us?

It will be interesting to see the reaction. I’m betting there will be a double standard evidenced here. If it were a woman who’s stripper video was exposed like this, she would be vilified. I think this will just boost Channing’s lady fan base.
Seriously? Why is this even a big deal? Actors (both genders) get paid to take their clothes off all the time. They wouldn’t see an increase in their salaries for doing that if it wasn’t for the sexual gratification of the viewers of their movies (or perceived sexual gratification). How that any different or more morally acceptable than stripping?

Ah, come on! He not doing anything worse than what you see in most R&B/pop videos these days (except for the 2 seconds of crotch grabbing and really watch any rap video and they do just about the same).
The man has a ridiculously hot body but really: thong + SOCKS?! LOLOL Yeah, amateur night. In anycase it got him on the road to stardom with that casting agent there, so good for him.
