Duchess Kate helped plant a sensory garden for an EACH children’s hospice

Duchess Kate did her first public event in three months at a local nursery in Norfolk on June 18th. The appearance was notable because we hadn’t had new photos of her (non-Zoom photos) in months, and because she was cosplaying some kind of nature explorer or something. I did wonder why she was buying so many herbs and plants, and now we know: she was buying stuff for a new garden at a EACH’s Nook hospice. She’s the patron of EACH, and she’s done fundraisers for Nook. In fact, that event at Houghton Hall with Rose Hanbury several years ago was a fundraiser for Nook/EACH. Rose Hanbury is a patron of the organization too. Cough.

Anyway, on Saturday, the Kensington Royal social media published lots of photos from Kate’s herb-buying trip and her garden-planting. She apparently planted strawberries, sunflowers, lavender, geraniums and herbs, all within the hospice’s special new sensory garden. She also told someone (??) that Prince George, Charlotte and Prince Louis are having a sunflower growing competition and that “Louis is winning so George is a little grumpy about that.”

Fashion notes: Kate bought herself a pair of new wedges! These are £135 Russell and Bromley wedges in “tan.” They are a bad color! She should have gotten them in blue or white, something other than that shade of nude. Her dress is a £180 Faithfull the Brand piece. That label is Indonesian-based and it’s an “ethical” line (meaning sustainable fashion). She weirdly wore her sapphire ring for all of the gardening activities, and yet no one in the photos (Kate or the kids or the parents/volunteers) wore masks.

Did you also know that Kate has been posting personal comments on Instagram regarding the Hold Still photography competition? She’s been looking through the #HoldStill tag, leaving comments on people’s Instagram threads and complimenting their photography. That is nice touch, but because it’s Kate, you’d think she’s inventing a coronavirus vaccine or something, the way people are praising her for leaving some comments.

She always has to show off that ring, doesn’t she? I would never garden with that thing on, I’d be so worried about losing or destroying it

    • Mirage says:

Yes, I saw the ring and imagined in getting lost in the compost.
Other than that Kate looks radiant.
      Good for her.

    • Molly says:

Her whole outfit is wrong for the engagement. A very lowcut dress when she has to bend down? Light colored wedges and wearing a ring when gardening?

I wish people were more open about cosmetic procedures because clearly Kate has had herself refreshed and it’s all well done.

      • Nic919 says:

The first photo is photoshopped to the max. She doesn’t look that smooth in the video.

      • M.A.F. says:

When I saw the photos this weekend it made me wonder if they tell them ahead of time what they will be doing.

    • Sofia says:

I honestly wonder some times whether or not she wears a “fake” ring for these outdoorsey engagements and the real thing for everything else

      • Noki says:

@Sofia yes its possible that she rarely wears the ring anywhere ,some people with such valauable jewelery usually have cheaper duplicates made.

      • Dee says:

She may have never worn the real thing. William supposedly took the real ring in a backpack to propose in Africa. Kate’s worn that ring to shake hands in crowds, stuck it in the dough for that one scout visit, worn it on a zip line, worn it hiking and even sailing with Sir Ben. Knowing the real ring has an enormous value based on its significance and not its stones, I’d say it’s locked up safely somewhere and a new ring was made that Will gave to Kate. She wears it everywhere for all her engagements. Maybe she’s just thoughtless and kind of careless with it. But I bet the gray men made a switch at some point to make sure it was never stolen in a crowd of handshakes or lost if it slipped off in the jungle.

      • Becks1 says:

@dee – I agree, I don’t think she wears the real ring. I think she may wear it for very formal occasions, state dinners etc, but not for these kinds of appearances. I wonder if she wears the ring (real or fake) at home?

      • Sofia says:

I agree with all of you. It would absolutely make sense if Kate has a replica ring she wears and the real one is only worn when there’s a state dinner and when she’s not doing engagements/with the public

      • yinyang says:

I sometimes wear my ring, sometime don’t wear it and sometimes wear a different ring all together, why make a duplicate, to fool people of what??

      • notasugarhere says:

Diana had a cheaper duplicate made because she was afraid of losing the original expensive sapphire.

      • February-Pisces says:

That’s what I wonder about Kim’s ring, that the robbers may have stolen the dupe. I just can’t see how someone can walk around with something that expensive on their finger on a daily basis.

    • Lizzie says:

      Another meaningless photo shoot. Boring.

    • bettyrose says:

My grandmother didn’t take her wedding ring off once after her wedding.

      • kelleybelle says:

Nor did mine. My most prized possession. Now 99 years old 🙂 I was surprised there were no gloves here to protect Big Blue.

      • bettyrose says:

IKR? Gloves are key. My grandmother spent years changing diapers, washing dishes, cleaning house . . . and even when she didn’t have to do those things any more, she was extremely active and very cautious with treasured items.

    • swirlmamad says:

Exactly what I came here to say. Who on earth would garden with any rings on, farless the most famous engagement ring in the world?!?!??

  2. Sam says:

The full video of this is something else. Like she has never planted anything in her life.

    • Nic919 says:

She made a mess trying to repot a plant and one of the EACH workers had to take over. Clearly she doesn’t garden herself very much because it’s not that hard to repot a plant.

      • notasugarhere says:

They have at least one full-time groundskeeper and full-time cook at Anmer. I doubt she even does the simplest kitchen gardening.

    • Jen says:

Top CEOs don’t have time to do their own gardening.

    • Blase2 says:

Pleez! Potting plants is messy! That’s part of the fun!

      • Nic919 says:

You don’t dump that much dirt on the ground while repotting a plant. Normally the root ball is compact and you can take it and put it in the larger pot with dirt without too much of a mess.

        Let’s stop pretending she’s competent.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

It doesn’t matter. She projects the IMAGE of someone who gardens, cooks, photographs, and other activities befitting a woman of leisure. People buy the IMAGE, and that’s all that matters. William and Kate are 100% image over substance.

  3. Becks1 says:

Leave it to Kate to take an event that should be nice and make it…..something else. The general idea of it is nice, and its good to see her “doing” something (although I would say this is the kind of thing she could have been doing for years, especially considering how much time she has spent in Norfolk – just a low key engagement to spend time with her patronage).

But – she look like she has never planted a garden before. I wonder if she thought she wasn’t going to have to do the planting? this was the time for the adventure vest and gardening outfit! Not a floral dress with wedges and her sapphire ring.

    • Erinn says:

LOL I just looked at the twitter photos closer, and the one where she’s holding the potted plant got me. I just picture her very excitedly saying “PLANT!” as she’s holding it up.

I’ll defend wedges a lot of the time, but these ones are bad. Bad bad wedges. I am no fan of the print of her dress either, but she would have probably looked okay if it had just been a solid shade of the purple from the dress, or maybe a smaller, less busy print. Still not the worst thing I’ve seen her in, but nothing I’d want to wear.

      • Waitwhat? says:

I love the dress, but I agree that pale wedges that could get splattered with mud were a poor choice. Maybe, as @Becks1 says, she didn’t think she’d actually be gardening…

      • Becks1 says:

@Erinn – I actually don’t mind the dress in itself. For her, its a relatively fresh look (its not too fussy, length is good, pretty summer print, no buttons) but with the wedges and for this event….no.

      • Erinn says:

I actually really like the shape of the dress – it’s just a pattern I’m not drawn to, I think. If that was in a royal blue, I’d be allllll over it. Puffy sleeves and all, and normally I don’t really like them.

      • Original Jenns says:

“I just picture her very excitedly saying “PLANT!” as she’s holding it up.” I’m going to do this next time I’m planting new flowers in the yard. My boyfriend will probably smile gently the first couple of times. And then just go inside.

Wedges are meh. I like wedge heels a lot, but I think because there is so much shoe, I prefer them in a sandal style. Although I have seen some similar to Kate’s in a white and navy, styled with jeans and dresses and was super into it. Maybe it’s just that dull neutral wash-out color. Yes, you can pair it with anything, but it’s not a great color scheme. Go bold and throw some color in there!

      • Egla says:

Wedges are being sold for some days now and I have been checking them with curiosity. Nobody is touching them at my favorite store. I wanted to try one just for fun but I got distracted by some other shiny things in the store.
As for her charity work, it’s good. It brings attention to the charity. The rest is pointless. Nobody is perfect…but those wedges….

    • Nic919 says:

Wearing a new outfit to help work on a garden is so out of touch. Not to mention not wearing a mask and putting immune compromised kids at risk. She is not always 2 m away from these kids and it’s pretty selfish to risk the lives of these kids for a photo op.

Someone posted a photo of people wearing a mask while standing outside of EACH to donate a cheque so it’s just bizarre that Kate and co weren’t taking extra precautions, especially when these kids are at higher risk than the average population. This whole thing was pure vanity.

      • Becks1 says:

@Nic – the no mask thing was really bad IMO. I know people on here insist that its not required in the UK, but come on. She’s visiting a children’s hospice.

      • Nic919 says:

And since the UK has a horrible transmission rate and death rate then maybe the UK government isn’t really doing what it should when it comes to properly preventing the spread of the virus. And especially with kids who have compromised immune systems it is worth taking that extra precaution.

      • Lizzie says:

Well, since she really only wanted her picture taken I guess not wearing a mask isn’t a surprise. A disappointment, sure.

      • lucy2 says:

She should have worn a mask.

And can you imagine “gardening” in those expensive clothes and shoes? Pants, t-shirt, sneakers, done. But I suppose that’s for actual gardening, not photo ops.

    • Princess Caroline says:

Becks, I may be going crazy but when these pictures broke this weekend I swear that there was a pic in the bunch of Kate in her adventure outfit!!!! It’s so funny bc I was thinking I would never wear that to garden and then BAM: Katie Cambridge, Tomb Raider popped up 😂. I may have been slightly delirious from spending 72 hours moving tho lol

      • Becks1 says:

LOL I love that we all just call it her adventure outfit now.

What I bet you saw was a repeat photo from the gardening center trip, she bought the plants there that they used at EACH, so they probably showed a pic from that visit. So you’re most likely not going crazy 😉

    • Alexandria says:

Maybe she didn’t read her notes like William. Or her staff did not brief her.

  4. ABritGuest says:

Kate’s hair looks lovely here. Looks lighter like when she had George

Has Kate always done the sustainable fashion thing?

In terms of praise for leaving comments-the bar is so low for Kate. Must be nice.

    • Seraphina says:

I agree, her hair looks great. I like the lighter shade and how it looks straight. Other than that, I got nothing.

    • notasugarhere says:

No, she hasn’t done the sustainable fashion thing. Meghan took time to support small, local, and some sustainable brands. Kate didn’t. The only other time I remember her wearing something that ‘mattered’ in that way was an ugly red Beulah dress.

    • Nic919 says:

Is fashion sustainable when you buy new stuff all the time? This was an event where a repeat should have been considered. Even the ranger outfit would have worked better.

      • Seraphina says:

        @NIC919, agreed.

      • (TheOG) jan90067 says:

Exactly! If there ever WAS a time for jeggings or even those hideous culottes, THIS was the time. Not a low cut dress to garden in.

And while her hair looks lovely, this was a time for a pony tail.

She really has NO CONCEPT of what is appropriate for what occasion.

    • Mumbles says:

Her hair looks very nice straight and without the big dopey ringlets. And it doesn’t look like she is wearing extensions or wiglets but who knows. And her tan looks natural and not orangey.

For all her laziness and other issues she does look completely comfortable with these kids and their families. If only she made this her cause and did something with them every week. (But see: laziness).

      • Lady D says:

Is it comfort with the kids or just lack of empathy? I’m sorry but she acts like none of this affects her. I know the couple holding their dying child in their arms probably appreciate her attention and I really hope it helps the parents, but she just seems so unaffected by anything, never mind the horror of watching your child die. Maybe it’s a self-defense mechanism to help her cope with where she is? It takes a strong person to keep it together around dying infants and children, but she seems quite cheerful? I’m puzzled.

      • Mumbles says:

Yeah I don’t know if it’s lack of empathy. But I do think a lot of people are uncomfortable with the idea of people dying and steer clear of hospices. But they have their pick of charities to sponsor and she could have picked something else, so I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt here. In her recorded remarks she talked about families facing life-limiting illnesses so there’s that.

      • notasugarhere says:

The staff chose her charities, not Kate. They were trying to push the ‘childrens princess’ idea, thinking it would make for easy PR. Too bad Kate continues to be so awkward around kids and it is clear kids see straight through her games.

      • Nic919 says:

She was assigned EACH as a patronage years ago because it was in Norfolk and I guess they assumes she would go there often since it is close to Amner Hall. That didn’t really work out that well.

I have a major problem with her not wearing a mask to meet the kids. She’s not social distancing half the time and she could have brought germs in to kill them. I don’t care what the UK govt says, they pick and choose what to follow anyway and the extra precaution would have been thoughtful. She could even wear one that matches her outfit.

      • notasugarhere says:

Queen Mathilde has been doing that, Nic919. Either she wears a mask that coordinates with her outfit, or she has a mask made out of the matching patterned fabric.

    • Love says:

Agreed. Her hair and face look lovely😊

That chest area really worried me though. She must be under immense stress. I recently had lunch with someone who knows people connected with the inner royals, and the Rose story is not only true, but everyone among their uni friends know about it. Which made me so sad for her. This can’t be what she wanted for herself.

      • Becks1 says:

Ummm. We’re going to need more details. Stat.

I do agree though that she looks….not healthy. her chest area is concerning. I hope she is getting help.

      • Sofia says:

I agree with Becks1, more details please!

As for stress, what stress is she under? Other than her husband cheating (which he’s apparently done in the past when they were still dating). She did around 120 engagements last year. If each engagement is around 45 minutes, that means she did around 90 hours worth of engagements in the whole year.

That’s equivalent to 10 days (or two working weeks) of doing 9-5. In. The. Whole. Year. And it’s not like she needs to worry about cleaning her house, putting food on the table or childcare

      • ArtHistorian says:

I image that she is under the stress of turning a bling eye to Will’s behaviour – and it must be extra hard when everyone in her social circle knows about it. This must be so humiliating and Will was pretty cruel to insist on her making a photo op with his mistress at Kate’s birthday weekend. You can be stressed and under pressure from other things than work.

      • Alexandria says:

Don’t be shy, spill the tea.

If that’s true yeah makes even more sense why she got the Order.

Of course infidelity will still stress you even though you’re wealthy. But somehow I don’t feel too sorry for her because of her rudeness to Meghan. But I don’t wish her ill health.

      • notasugarhere says:

She stood by while he cheated and begged him to take her back every time. For a decade. Prior to marriage. She knew exactly what kind of man she married; this is the deal she struck.

      • Sofia says:

@ArtHistorian: It’s not like William has been a faithful and loving partner for almost 20 years and just recently started to cheat. He’s apparently always cheated and treated her terribly.

She turns a blind eye to it because she wants the titles and privilege. She was right there along with William with the FlyBe stunt and she was the one making faces at the CW service. Kate enjoys the trappings of royalty too much to leave. Her and her family worked too hard to just get up and leave over cheating – which, again, William has done so in the past.

Edit: she’s probably more upset that people know about the affair rather than the affair itself

      • Nic919 says:

She doesn’t need to accept the cheating. She can get a divorce which her own mother in law did. Outside of abusive situations, I just can’t feel bad for someone who stays despite the cheating, especially when it leads to fancy titles and social prestige. Of course it probably is eating her up that everyone knows about the affairs and that her sister and sister in law have managed to have spouses that treat them well. But she can leave. She chooses not to.

      • Suz says:

“This couldn’t be what she wanted for herself.”
I agree no one wants to be in a marriage where their spouse is unfaithful. That being said, William was stepping out on her and she waited while he “sewed his royal oats” and then still married him. She knew who she was marrying.

    • Tessa says:

It’s time for Kate to update her hairdo. She wore the same do for 20 years, a trim to should length would look much better IMO.

  5. Priscila Bezerra-Fischer says:

Last week I was speaking regarding my growing suspicion these idiots re not even good parents to begin with and I mentioned how the fact Charlotte not returning to school when she could was a big red flag for me. There was a report on this site about it, and KP was spinning it like ” they wanted to remain together as a family” but it wa also noted how ONLY Charlotte could return to school, but not George, who would be left alone without a playmate close to his age.

I said this to me sounded like George threw a tantrum at being left behind and Kate probably thought ” long and hard” as Katie Nichols would put it, and decided George was too precious to go without, so Charlotte, a five years old spare, was told to stay home.

I am a mother of a four-year-old and I can tell you that not only her but also her colleagues were BEGGING to return to daycare school. 4-6 yeras old are the ones who have most fun at school daycare this time and they are only starting their social life AOART from theuir family.

Any ” early years” serious scholar would know that, but not Kate. Everything to George.

This added up to Kate speaking about George being jealous of Charlotte having fun homework…and now this, George is jealous of Louis because of Sunflowers!

I mean, these stories she finds funny. She never elaborates on how she addresses this events of sibling jealousy. I only have the outcome of Charlotte´s situation, so I can only assume her attitude is ” What George wants, George gets” and that William is completly fine.

So yeah, do not accept any tip of Kate when it comes to early years, folks- she sucks!

    • Emily says:

It’s possible that they wanted to keep her home because of the pandemic (which is totally reasonable), but they gave that dumb excuse instead because they didn’t want to sound too “political”.

      • Priscila Bezerra-Fischer says:

@Emily, it is possible, but I am following them since the quarantine started for pure schadenfreude, and I can tell you these remarks Kate has been making about George have jumped out to me because it is not okay. They are pilling up now.

and about the family getting together, that was their angle. However, this spin does not add up, if much for the fact they are who they are. They are in this position where they should act on strickly obedience to the goverment´s guidelines, as they are leading by example.

and the government stated it was okay for children Charlotte’s age to return to school. Actually, it was deemed so important at the developmental age that George would be excused. Schools have to adhere to strict measures and cannot have all students at once, therefore you can see how educators thought 5 years old would take precedence over 6 years old in this case.

But it was not what they wanted, so they did not do. Okay, you can be scared of having your child go, but the article itself gave away their motivation.

So, you see, they do what they want and just spin it.

@lemonylips that is exactly what she meant by it,. but her finding stances of sibling jealousy so funy as to share them with strangers is telling. This is the third time she says something to the effect ” George got so jealous of such and such” as a joke. Mothers do share these stories with family and friends, not strangers.

    • lemonylips says:

That comment about George being jealous was probably supposed to be funny but knowing how jelly William is when it comes to his brother I feel bad for those kids having their parents project their own issues on them. That says enough about them and their relationship with Harry and Meghan.

      • notasugarhere says:

It sets Louis up to be the spare/fall, when it makes more sense if George and Charlotte were the kids in the flower growing story. But that wouldn’t fit their ongoing, pigeonhole stories of ‘Charlotte, perfect little lady’. She wouldn’t dare have a competitive bone in her body, a proper little lady wouldn’t be ambitious, etc.

    • notasugarhere says:

It would have meant they couldn’t hide out at Anmer, with William’s easy access to Rose. Their school is in London, Anmer is a 2.5 hour drive away. George started pre-school at a Waldorf in Norfolk. They could have put Charlotte in that temporarily during the pandemic for socialization, appears they haven’t.

We’ll see what happens this fall. Will Kate and kids move back to London while William stays secretly in Norfolk at Anmer? I suspect that was the arrangement before when both kids started school in London. Kate, kids, nannies in London, William in Norfolk. Kate and kids would join him on weekends, meaning he had 4-5 days a week to tend to Roses.

Their youngest should be starting pre-school this fall or January at the latest. Will Kate keep the two older kids out of school until January? We’ll get PR stories about how she wanted these last few months of family time at Anmer before taking over for QEII personally. That gives her more months to watch William from up-close in Norfolk.

Excuse would be she wants to focus on Baby #3 before he goes to pre-school. That’s what we got when George started pre-school. Kate wasn’t going to work more, she was going to focus on Charlotte. We’ll get the same thing now. Kate won’t work more this fall, she’ll be ‘focusing on Louis’. Still think Baby #4 is under discussion.

    • Nic919 says:

Her stories about her kids are supposed to sound cute but instead she’s portraying George as a jealous sullen kid. Maybe she shouldn’t really talk about them like that.

      • Becks1 says:

Exactly. she’s trying to offer glimpses of the kid’s personality or make them seem more relatable to the public, but the stories she shares are weird. It’s like she thinks it’s funny that George is always grumpy when he’s not winning, when his flower isn’t the biggest, etc.

To me, the school thing wasn’t about George, it was about Kate and William not wanting to go back to London, I think at that point they would be expected to do more work/appearances and right now its easy to just do these low-key kind of events around Norfolk so they want to keep doing that.

But, I do think the decision to keep Charlotte home is a sign of their privilege – they have nannies to help, Kate and will don’t need to go back to work so they don’t need the kids back in school, etc.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Her stories make George sound like William – Chuck and Di used to tell similar ‘cute’ stories about Wills at that age.

    • February-Pisces says:

George being competitive with a two year old is a bit weird, oldest siblings usually look after the younger ones, and give them a pass, including letting them win, especially when they are a baby.

Given how jealous William is of harry and Kate is of Pippa, I definitely see problems arising between the Cambridge’s children in the future. Plus they have two toxic, vengeful, insecure parents who can’t stand each other, but have to pretend to be madly in love in public.

    • Lizzie says:

I think she makes up the stories because she thinks they sound cute.

  6. Harper says:

I saw another photo where the wedges had potting soil all over them so I’m sure they are in the trash. Why no gardening gloves though? I don’t know how anyone can have that big of a smile at a hospice for children. It’s sad. But hooray for photos of Kate with straight hair and a new floral dress–just don’t pay attention to the dying child and heartbroken parents props.

    • Molly says:

I don’t know Kate’s commitment or sincerity so I’m not going to talk about that. But just because the reason for people being in a hospice is very sad, I don’t think there shouldn’t be smiling.

      • Ash says:

Yeah, agreed, the smiling is absolutely appropriate. Otherwise we should be condemning all of them for ever smiling at any charity event.

(I wouldn’t be so sad if the wedges were in the trash though, just to add.)

      • Harper says:

If you look at the one posed photo with Kate and the hospice prop family, the family is barely smiling. I can’t imagine a sadder place on earth and it’s not like a nursery school for sick kids charity so let’s all say cheese and capture this fun moment. It really is the last days and hours for these little lives and requires some gravitas and is not all about a good blowout and some pretty dresses.

      • Katie says:

Have you ever been to a hospice house? They’re not dark stoic places where you’re not allowed to smile. Hospice houses exist to bring comfort and dignity to a dying person, and that includes filling their remaining days with things that bring laughter and joy. That’s even more important for a children’s hospice house.

      • Harper says:

Yes, I’ve checked someone into a hospice and spent last days there. That’s why the grinning Cheshire cat vibe is so off. You are right that hospices bring comfort and dignity to a dying person but it is also very much ministering to the needs of the family that is coming to the end of a very hard journey and the vibe is not “let’s smile big and take some pics if you have a second.” My point is Kate should read the room–that family she is with doesn’t have big teeth-baring smiles–their faces look more in line with the moment they are in. Yes, try and bring laughter and joy but remember that the family may not be feeling that and be sensitive to the very difficult emotions that are going on in the vicinity of your photo shoot.

      • Molly says:

@Harper. I see your point about treating it like a photo op. I think this engagement was not done well. Kate should have come dressed for gardening and they should have made it an activity engagement focusing on pictures of the garden. Instead the pictures are of Kate posing in a new dress.

    • Chaine says:

My question too—Beyond the dress and shoes, not having on gloves is what makes the “planting” photos seem so posed. It’s sort of Instagram influencer-y. That said, the dress is a fresh, summery look on her and she does seem genuinely happy to be there.

      • Waitwhat? says:

I don’t wear gloves when I garden – although I also don’t get professional manicures or have an enormous engagement ring!

    • notasugarhere says:

She always smiles like an idiot at hospice events. Remember the gurning pictures from the last visit, in the terrible hot pink mini/cheerleader suit?

      • FicklePickle says:

Oh, and the numerous incidents at memorial services.

Deliberately changing into a bubblegum pink coat so she can ‘stand out in the crowd’ at the 9-11 memorial, the smiling, giggling, and hair-twirling on several Remembrance Day balconies…I’m sure there’s more.

        Decorum escapes her, it seems.

    • Alexandria says:

She and William cannot read the room. But I think her smile looks fine here.

  7. S808 says:

I’m surprised it’s not required to wear a mask at a hospice of all places.

    • Noki says:

Right???I mean can you imagine their immune system ?!

    • Nic919 says:

Other people who have attended that hospice a few weeks earlier were wearing masks when they donated a cheque to the charity. It is pure vanity to risk the lives of these children for a photo op. The royals have been horrible on the mask issue.

  8. Noki says:

“Louis is winning so George is a little grumpy about that.”….They better reign that in :/

    • Priscila Bezerra-Fischer says:

I commented above. Since Kate, the supposed specialist on early years education, thinks this incident is cute enough to be shared with strangers, she not only does nothing but encourage as we can see since Charlotte rather than going back to school as George´s year was not expected to return.

As a mother of two, ages 4 and 6, I can confirm this is a red flag, and not the kind of stories I share with strangers. I would talk about it, probably also minimize it, with a friend though.

      • notasugarhere says:

As I write above, it is turning Louis into the fall guy when it makes more sense if George and Charlotte were involved in gardening. Keeps their sexist narrative that proper princesses aren’t competitive or ambitious, Charlotte is a proper little lady. They’ve been shoving her into that pigeonhole since she was born.

    • Sofia says:

Kids can and do get jealous of siblings but parents should try and reign it because it might lead to some resentment (not always so I’m not trying to scare)

But with the institution/family these kids are growing up in, it’ll sadly be ignored at best and encouraged at worst

      • Priscila Bezerra-Fischer says:

It is the kind of thing one has to cut early on, and in a positive way. It is not rocket science actually. To someone so interested in early years, this is an opportunity to sit and speak with a child in a meaningful way.

      • ArtHistorian says:

I don’t know much about developmental psychology – however the heir/spare dynamic in the BRF has proven to be toxic over generations. I had hoped that Kate could break the cycle with the Cambridge kids but that would require her to very aware of this particular dynamic and its attendant dangers and I just don’t think that she is. (William clearly isn’t because he’s been benefiting from this dynamic his entire life and the way he has treated his younger brother shows that he has no self-awareness of the toxic patterns of this particular family).

      • Microsoft says:

art historian from that Louis story you can say that she is setting up the whole William and Harry dynamics again with Louis and George. Whatever harry does William feels grumpy and complain. The cycle is repeating itself and kate doesn’t have the gut to stand up to William. Unfortunately you reap what you sow. Karma is a bitch and these cambriges kids will carry their parents karma. Princess Beatrice is paying it’s price now with her wedding will it happen or not itself a big question. Cambridge backstabbed harry and his wife and harry always come to kate defense surely their Cambridge karma will come.

      • Nic919 says:

Kate also comes from a family with a very dysfunctional dynamic where she as the eldest was placed above the other children in the Middleton group family effort to catch William’s attention so it’s unlikely she’s aware of anything in terms of not putting siblings against each other since she also personally benefitted from her parents doing that. She’s also very dim generally so it’s not like she would have read up on this.

      • notasugarhere says:

Nic919, I think she and Pippa were competitors their entire lives, still are.

    • Tessa says:

Maybe Louis is her Prince Andrew.

      • Microsoft says:

Tessa it’s even worst. Yeah everyone knows that Louis to kate is like queen to Andrew. We know how disaster Andrew was and this resentment towards Andrew comes to Charles because of Andy being favorite child. When the opportunity Charles got he punished andy girls from working royal. Andy is getting free pass because of Queen as soon as Queen does andy will left on his own. Charles won’t protect him and that’s why andy is keen on getting their daughter get married when queen is alive. Also with Harry gone, Andy tried very much with media to bring back the girls into working royal but Charles put an end to it. If Louis is her favorite child then the resentment is coming and he will be thrown into wolves because William has shown it is ok to throw your brother as sacrifice lamp for your own benefits.

    • Dilettante says:

Nice pun on “reigning” it in!

    • Alexandria says:

Woah woah woah…Louis must know his place!

  9. Emily says:

It’s nice that she’s leaving comments for that photography competition, but the comments themselves are so generic and robotic. 😴

    • Noki says:

Havent read the comments but did see a clip of the hospice where she ia sitting making small talk, asking about listening to music and what are theit favourite songs. You can see her brain struggling to think of something to say, however small talk with strangers is uncomfortable so i can why she always seems like she would rather be else where.

    • notasugarhere says:

I’m sure her staff are leaving the comments, not Kate.

  10. Florence says:

The outfit is disgusting, the effort is low. That brassy hair makes her look like Cathy from the council estate.

  11. Edna says:

Umm…her chest in that photo where she’s holding the pot….scary

    • Ginger says:

Yes, her chest looks very scary.

I know it’s not a requirement to wear masks in the UK but in this instance it should be. A hospice with sick kids? Wear a mask! She wasn’t even socially distant from them. This upsets me. The hospice has other public figures wear a mask but not Kate.

And as everyone was saying, she seemed like she never planted anything in her life. Not a great outfit to plant something in.

      • Nic919 says:

The vanity to not wear a mask with these vulnerable kids is pure selfishness. She should be soundly condemned for putting these kids at risk but instead she will get praise for leaving the house. From the needless new dress, of which she has a dozen similar ones, to new wedges that look the same as others, to the new blowout and serious tan, this is a woman who does not care about anything but how she looks. Of all the people who need to be protected, it’s kids in a hospice and taking an extra precaution would have been the thoughtful thing to do. Shame on Kate and her staff for putting kids at risk for a sad photo op which looked like a last minute attempt to hide how little she has done for her patronages.

      • Maplesbass says:

I don’t understand the lack of masks. Whilst it’s not compulsory to wear one outdoors in the UK, it is compulsory to wear one in a hospital. I happily, if a bit sweatily, wore one for 8 hours during chemotherapy last week so I don’t really have much time for people who don’t wear them.

      • Lizzie says:

Agree with you all about masks. Doctors everywhere are saying to wear them. Just vanity on her part.
I see what you mean about her chest but her arms look fine.

    • xdanix says:

I thought that too Edna. She looks lovely (the outfit is a weird choice for gardening activity, and I wouldn’t choose either the dress or the shoes myself, but I do think the colour of the dress is really pretty on her and the tan and hair look great) but Jesus, she looks so painfully thin. It’s not so obvious in most of the professional photos that were released but it’s more so in some of the casually snapped ones (I’m presuming on people’s phones or something) and in pics like the one above, it’s extremely noticeable.

(And please know I don’t say this in a body-shaming way or a judging way. I only ever feel concerned for her or anyone in the public eye when I see photos like that.)

      • Jen says:

This was the first time I have seen her and thought she was scary thin as opposed to just thin. Her chest in particular. And I had never noticed before that she and her mom look so much alike.

  12. Seraphina says:

My only positive is her hair. It looks so good straight. The dress is wrong for the event and those shoes truly could have been better in another color.
Planting herbs and getting applauded for it. Wow. The bare minimum at best always.

    • Seraphina says:

I just watched the video above, thank God for subtitles because I could not Understand her. Between the accent and how fast she spoke, I could not keep up. And taking into account her speed of speech, it’s like she wanted to finish up ASAP.

      • Edna says:

You should read the fawning comments about how articulate and well spoken and how soothing a voice Kate has on the short video she narrated about Wimbledon. It’s as if her stans go out of their way to call attention to her speech cause in reality they know how awful her voice sounds.

      • ABritGuest says:

Edna hilarious they are talking about how well spoken and how soothing her voice as that was the frequent feedback for Meghan’s speeches& her narration for that Together cookbook promo and Elephant documentary
; ) And Nota thanks for confirming. I remember Kate always being praised for high street clothes but saw some compliments for wearing some ethical brand earrings by a female designer recently too& that seemed familiar.

    • February-Pisces says:

Her hair looks so much better straight, it looks more youthful. I’m not a fan of big barrel waves, hers always look kinky. All she needs is to chop a few inches off.

  13. Belli says:

The outfits should have been swapped. Floaty floral dress and wedges for standing around talking about herbs and gardener cosplay for planting (plus gloves). I don’t think she was expecting to get involved because even leaving the outfit aside, she just looked like she’d never planted anything before in her life.

Interesting that she’s now picking an ethical brand and making Instagram comments though…

    • ArtHistorian says:

Yep. The outfit she wore for the plant shopping would have been perfect for the planting – practical and appropriate. The dress is pretty and it would have been fine for the plant nursery event where she didn’t have to do any planting. She ought to have learnt event appropriate dressing by now. Also, why on earth would she garden with that big rock? It is just really impractical doing work like this with jewelry on – I noticed her bangle as well. It is just weird – I guess this is just a photo op and she dressed for that but it would have looked like she was genuine and authentic if she had dressed for actual gardening activities.

A sensory garden is a great idea and Kate is doing her job here – and it looks like gardens are her new “thing”.

      • Microsoft says:

Yeah gardening is suitable for none working mom and person like Kate which is a hobby. Imagine being a single mom live in city with no balcony. Gardening is way to improve kids is idiotic at best. There is no science behind it improves mental health of all kids. If a kids in physical abuse home one hour nature time is not going to help because that person will extra stress from what is going to happen to me when I go home or even worst thoughts comes to mind when he/ she saw a kid with happy parents. Same with emotionally abuse parents or the parents who fought all the time. When the kids from these family spend their time like gardening with other kids parents is cruel. I have experiences this because parents are working and whenever there is some function in school all my friends mom able to make it and my home couldn’t and how my friends tell about their stories they share to their mother when they go home and I go home to no one and this sort of resentment I have when going to function. When I’m older many of my college friends able to share this same thing. This is not mental health is the opposite because it shows the kids like me what we miss with our parents.

      • ArtHistorian says:

The are many studies that prove mental health benefits from interactions with and in nature. You’re wrong here and being a negative nellie about a good initiative that is supported by plenty of research is not a good look and, frankly, quite sad.

It sounds like you have some personal issues that you should work on for your own well-being. I say this as someone who grew up in with a very mentally ill parent who tried to kill herself several times and who I took care off, which wasn’t good for my own mental health. Going through life being bitter about the past is not a good way to live – and, again, I speak from experience. Letting go of my anger and bitterness has been one of the best things I’ve ever done but it takes work.

      • Money says:

Art historian I don’t know where you live. But I live Delhi and trust me none of our scientific research says we should go out in Delhi and be in nature. It’s literally poison and it messed up the environment. Maybe it is suitable for western countries where air pollution is less than third world countries. What western countries suit doesn’t always suit other countries. It might be good for kids in uk but it doesn’t suits for kids in third world countries. Tell nature is good for kids in Indonesia where the entire village is filled with garbage from western countries. How that works for those kids. That’s why I said it doesn’t universally suit for all people. Gardening and nature doesn’t improve mental health for people in Africa and asia of many countries. Exercise and yoga does. This I won’t agree and any sane person will not suggest kids in these country to go out and expose to pollution and second smoking.

      • Lady D says:

“If a kids in physical abuse home one hour nature time is not going to help because that person will extra stress from what is going to happen to me when I go home” I have a seven year gap in my memories from childhood abuse. The two memories from that time I do have revolve around school because apparently that was a safe place for me. Getting away from the abuse, even for an hour helps. To have been taught how to garden and create something beautiful out of the chaos would have been life changing for me. I still feel that way now as an adult. I have a tiny little yard and I’ve created 17 flower beds and potted plant arrangements. Trust me @Microsoft, gardening heals the soul.

      • Microsoft says:

        Lady

      • Microsoft says:

Lady D. I speak from my friends experiences that she was physically abused by her parents and she was dreadfully going out in parks. In third world countries abuse is very normal in house and being in Park remind her of what happy family she doesn’t have. I said abuse is different from countries to countries. Parents beating their kids is considered abusive but many third world country it is so normal because that’s how parents discipline their child. There is a miles differences between east and west countries. Your way of access to garden and nature is not same as ours. Divorce is still frown upon in those countries and those kids will go through a shit where other kids parents stay together. Your life in those western countries is different than my friends who have abusive parents and from their experiences they don’t want to go out with black eye and bruised legs and hands because in those countries even simple make up is not access to everyone. Also in some culture wearing make up is banned within the family. Also kids doesn’t have any access to garden in their school. Those schools in east countries are horrible because they don’t have like American they are not free to choose the subject they learn. Up to 10 grade government decide what to learn and after that with your marks only you will be place for your 11 and 12. Schools don’t encourage extracurricular activities. Imagine growing up in slum with abusive parents and in some place those kids won’t to allowed inside the Park. Like I said life is very different for east vs west. You are saying from your experiences and I’m saying from mine and in mine nature doesn’t improve mental health in those countries where you expose to harmful posion in the air and dirty parks and garbage everywhere. Those research might done in western countries the same research method cant be applied in my country or other poor countries.

      • Lady D says:

You’re right, Microsoft, the difference between the East and the West is so vast, they might as well be on different planets. What worked for one will be completely different for the other. Still, I maintain that nature heals and it hurts my heart to think not every one can have clean air, water, soil, or time for the simple joy of growing a flower or a stalk of corn. These are actions and items I have taken for granted my entire adult life.

      • yinyang says:

Wow, Microsoft thanks so much for sharing your prespective, its really been an eye opener for me the differences between east and west, and also the rich and poor. Now more than ever we need to push for equality in this world we’ve created, so no more children have to go without.

      • ArtHistorian says:

Pollution and/or lack of access doesn’t invalidate the findings of the studies, they are, however, conditions puts severe limits on how to implement the findings of the studies or even if they should be implemented in certain places or whether one could work towards other alternatives like fx interior/greenhouse gardens. But that is a question of resource and political willingness.

      • ArtHistorian says:

There have long been the concept of high-rise housing that incorporates vertical gardens, which I think is an absolutely brilliant concept.

    • notasugarhere says:

You mean the staff are making IG comments.

  14. L84Tea says:

    Wow, she’s so tan.

  15. Microsoft says:

Why she is not wearing mask?? In asia many countries are hitting again with second wave of pandemic and this is reckless when meeting vulnerable people. She might not get covid but she might be carrier and past to her staff which is terrible. Everyone wear mask no matter what. Here even in full lockdown the case is increasing everyday. We past summer here in my country. During summer very few cases. In June summer is over for us and the pandemic is getting worst everyday and Beijing and even New Zealand has new cases and Italy too getting second wave.

    • Some chick says:

I totally agree. Wearing masks is a health and safety issue. It should not be a choice! At least until there is a vaccine.

      Good luck & stay safe.

  16. AprilMay says:

I’m still fuming about none of them wearing a mask. If there’s any time to break away from what the government is saying it’s when you’re visiting a children’s hospice. I don’t care if they social distanced you don’t take that risk with sick and in some cases dying children. Completely irresponsible.
Gardening must be her new thing. everyone, everywhere must have a garden.

    • Waitwhat? says:

Actually, gardening would be a really good thing for her to promote during the pandemic.
It’s fun for kids to plant and harvest things, it connects them to nature, it’s good for the environment, and it makes spaces more beautiful. There was even an article in the Guardian a couple of weeks ago that said that front gardens with plants boost the psychological wellbeing of everyone who passes them!

If she took a sensitive approach to it she could do a really nice little series of videos on planting with your kids – how to do it on a budget, how to do it if you live in an apartment, things you can do with a tiny space, things you can do with a bigger space; how to grow from seeds, how to pot on seedlings; things you can plant to attract bees and butterflies, things you can grow to eat; she could expand it to include recipes for using herbs you’ve grown…

It could incorporate all sorts of great stuff from cooking to environmentalism to independence/resilience building. She could get someone else to create the content and then she could make 5 minute videos and post them on YouTube or wherever. And she could do gardening cosplay!

      • notasugarhere says:

‘if she took a sensitive approach to it’? You do know this is Kate right?

The previous garden, designed by professional garden designers with Kate showing up for a photo op? That garden was too expensive for most families to visit AND it banned anyone under the age of six.

This is the same woman who lectured underprivileged children at an event years ago. Kate flew in by helicopter, gave them a lecture about how they should turn off the tv and go to the countryside more often.

*The charity takes kids out to the countryside because their families cannot afford those visits.* That is how dim she is, she didn’t even understand the point of the charity.

After that flub, she got back in the helo after less than an hour. Flew home, changed clothes, and took the helo to a polo afternoon.

      • Lady D says:

Your comment is brilliant, Waitwhat? It’s too bad Kate can’t read it.

    • Nic919 says:

Many photos show she wasn’t always keeping the proper distance either, so she was doubly putting the kids at risk. So irresponsible.

  17. Helen says:

I wish it could be considered “work” when I go to buy plants.

  18. Digital Unicorn says:

Her hair is nice, she suits it straight and its clearly a fresh dye job (it lighter than it has been) – thats all I can say about this.

That aside – given everything going on at the moment and she, for the 2nd, time choses a country gardening event. Not very child has access to a garden or can have sunflower growing competitions with their siblings.

CEO Kate’s events always seem geared to a certain demographic.

Lastly, this is the first event she’s done for EACH in about 8 years. Clearly she’s just remembered she’s their royal patron.

  19. Calibration says:

Between the hair, the tan and the fresh botox, I thought it was pippa in the top pic. Maybe dress choice too. Anyway, it’s a nice thing to do. People in hospices like happy smiling faces having spent a lot of time in one.

    • Princess Caroline says:

She’s a still wearing extensions or wiglets right? It’s so much shorter but OMG the thickness!! Her hair looks like it takes hooooours to dry

  20. Tessa says:

I hope she thanked the people who did the real work.

    • Lise says:

The best part is in the pictures posted o the Kensington instagram you see in one shot that she is sitting talking while two people do the actual gardening behind her.

  21. Marjorie says:

You can’t transplant sunflowers. And oh my gosh we can see her ribcage.

    • Poodle says:

Right? Sunflowers hate being transplanted. That one Kate is holding is gonna wilt and die. I’m shocked about the lack of masks at the hospice and would be super angry if my loved one was compromised for a photo op. And no gloves, good soil is full of life, she knows zip about it. Lol, the fakery!

    • Becks1 says:

The sunflower comment made me think…..the Cambridge stans on twitter decided to use sunflowers as their “symbol” for June in an effort so “show kindness” or something (spoiler alert: it didn’t happen)….I wonder if someone told Kate about that and that’s why she told the sunflower story?

I realize that’s probably not likely but it seems like a big coincidence.

      • Nic919 says:

I’m sure some of the staff floats around in the morass of Camb stans.

      • P says:

It’s so funny how you all know about everything on Kate’s and her family lives but yet miss public information. During her call with Camilla she promised to the brother of a dead Chou that she would plant a sunflower in his memory because the kid liked them 🙄

      • P says:

        *child, not Chou. The autocorrect…

      • Nic919 says:

Then sunflowers showed up on the camb stans profiles for well over a month now and that call with Camilla was only last week. In fact they thought that her mentioning a sunflower was a call out to them.

      • notasugarhere says:

Guess they got tired of all the rose symbols showing up under comments about W&K…

      • Molly says:

Sunflowers are a symbol for hospice care. Kate’s stans should raise some money for EACH but I guess we’ll have to settle for a sunflower emoji.

They all love this anti-Meghan account on YouTube, and if it’s monetized then that account is making a lot of of money. One of the sunflower Cambridge stans so clearly wants to get in on that and is trying to build her own following.

      • Ruby_Woo says:

@Molly: I heard they tried their own fundraiser and got up to £600.

I mean, am not knocking it, since 3 of Kate’s charities have already gone bust despite the Royal Family actually getting RICHER over this pandemic…

        https://members.tortoisemedia.com/2020/06/29/royal-money-sovereign-wealth-fund-queen-and-charles/content.html

  22. Ginger says:

I do wonder what Kate stand think of Kate not wearing a mask visiting kids in hospice? These are the same that complained Meghan wore a bracelet helping with food at their charity visit last week.

    • MsIam says:

Show kindness? Are these the same stans that have been bombarding the IG accounts of companies connected to Meghan and Harry? If so, talk about fakery!

  23. Princess Caroline says:

I was literally checking royal Twitter this whole weekend because I just KNEW that there would be something from the Cambridge’s and lo and behold! Keen Kate at a garden, how swell 🙄

  24. SJR says:

IMO, it is fine and useful that the BRF use their PR resources to make these charities known. Charity is a good thing.

Now, along w/Kate potting some plants and looking pretty while she gets her photo taken..write a check ! How about say $100K to the charity while she is there.

I am serious. Sick and tired of all these multi-millionaire celebs doing F’uck All besides getting PR. Nobody takes their money to the grave. Do more rich people!

On a less serious note…She still has my hair goals, and cute dress. Have a good week! 🙂

  25. Lucylee says:

Look closely at the pic of Kate holding the large plant: Am I seeing the outline of her ribs? Forget the face, clothes and shoes because this woman does not appear to be well. I still say she reminds me of Karen Carpenter.

  26. The Duchess says:

It’s deeply concerning to see these pictures of her. I don’t mean to speculate, but in my opinion she doesn’t look healthy at all. I hope she gets help for the sake of herself and her children, but I highly doubt it. She’s always been a skinny girl, but it’s getting very worrying now.

    • Mary says:

No, Kate has not “always been a skinny girl” and we can all see why she has been dressing like Karen Carpenter. It was reported when she was dating William that she was a bit heavy and went on a crash diet before University. At school, her weight fluctuated. It has only been since her pre-marriage Dukan days that she has been “skinny,”. Since then, Kate has only appeared normal when pregnant. You only need to look at her frame (and skeletal ribcage) to see that she is not at a normal or healthy weight.

  27. Tiffany says:

This would have been the perfect time for her hair up, pants, shirt and tennis shoes and get down and dirty.

All this time and still will not dress for the event properly.

  28. Original Jenns says:

Love the idea of a garden for The Nook. I love gardening and plants and setting up beautiful community areas, and I personally find peace outside in that setting, so this is so great to me. More hospitals and hospices and nursing homes should have the support to really build up something nice. And I think Kate and Will are not nice people, so I will support this action without supporting them.

  29. Eugh says:

I wonder how she’d look if she embraced the 90s trends going on the last while now and not the 80s one she’s so into.

  30. M.A.F. says:

I don’t normally comment on what she is wearing or how her face looks but what is going on with her right eye-brow (I think it’s the right)? Why does it look shorter and shaped differently than the left? That’s all I kept noticing in the photos.

    • Mary says:

Haha, I commented on that a few threads ago. …..once you see it you can’t unsee it! What is worse is her brows are drawn on (filled in) differently every day. I did note that in one photo Carole’s right eyebrow looks shorter too. Maybe Carole does her brows??!

  31. MangoAngelesque says:

I’m convinced she wears a dupe if her ring, because no way would she garden in the ACTUAL sapphire.

Which, honestly, is smart. Especially with all the places they do go, and when they DO do their sportier stuff, no way should a ring with that much value and history be worn. Multiple dupes that can be kept sparkly clean should be kept in rotation. Same with Meg’s ring.

  32. Nola says:

On a purely superficial level – Kate’s hair looks fantastic like this.

  33. yinyang says:

Isn’t this Diana’s exact dress, I mean the exact one. This was the famous dress that Diana wore whenever she visited kids because it was their favorite, same pattern colour cut everything.

    • FicklePickle says:

It does look somewhat similar to the blue floral Bellville Sassoon one she wore when she visited abandoned kids in Brazil, but it looks like she had a pretty varied wardrobe when visiting kids. And a VERY large variety of floral dresses.

Wrong outfit for gardening but I like her hair like this. Simple, straight, and unfussy.

So I’m not a Kate stan but some of these comments are being really nitpicky today. Like criticizing her for not sending her kids back to school–um, there is a pandemic last time I checked? And also mentioning George being jealous of Louis’s sunflower= George is a jealous rage monster. That’s quite the leap. You should have seen some of the knockdown fights my sister and I had kids. That’s what happens when you have two girls spaced close together!

Kate deserves all the criticism for not wearing a mask though, there was a moment in the video where she was standing pretty close to some kids. Everyone should have been wearing a mask IMO.

Anywho I like the outfit minus the wedges, her hair looks the best it ever has. Seriously. There doesn’t seem to be any fussy curls or extensions. It looks pretty natural. Whoever did her hair should be given a huge raise. And she had fun being outside planting stuff with kids making a mess which is what gardening is all about. And that’s nice she’s leaving comments to people participating in the Hold Still photo competition.

Well you’re half right . This is actually one of the kindest Kate threads in awhile, calling her a crap parent is pretty much the norm but there have been a few positive comments about her hair so overall almost praise.

It would have been the best thing that happened to these kids and family in forever so I applaud it. And seeing a happy smiling face is what you NEED in a hospice. Everyone saying her smiling is wrong doesn’t know shit. I spent months in one with my dad

Not wearing a mask and failing at social distancing while visiting imunosuppressed children. Can’t see why people would support this PR stunt on Kate’s part, especially when it endangered already endangered children.

      • Nic919 says:

Putting kids at risk for your vanity is selfish. Kate was not social distancing much of the time and could literally kill them by spreading the virus. This is a pandemic.

Trying to claim that a smile from a person they don’t care about is worth dying for is seriously cultish. These kids care about their parents and family. Not a random stranger who stands from afar.

Read Priscilla’s comments again. UK government is encouraging children in Charlotte’s age group to go back to school, while requiring schools to follow social distancing, cleaning, etc. It is in the best interest of the development of the kids.

W&K are supposed to be leading by example and are failing. Again. Not wearing masks, not social distancing, not supporting their daughter’s schooling and psychological development.

    • Priscila Bezerra-Fischer says:

I so stand by my comments. 100% not being mean for being mean. I do not know about Kate, but her whole spin about Early Years education is especially worrisome to me because 1) I am a teacher and 2) I am a mother.

So, it is completely valid for me to criticize this woman´s parenting decisions based on what floats online from their camp because she has been placing herself as not only a caring mother, but an specialist in child care- and again, judging only by information at my disposal, she is anything but.

You can go back at all my comments. I very rarely speak of her clothes and overall appearance. I am really not here to shit on her. My personal opinion is that, as a feminist, I am completely okay with women choosing to be stay at home moms.

But the moment she claimed all this interest in early years, I started paying notice and, lo and behold, Catherine is indeed a shitty parent and sloppy educator based, again, on what we know.

Sibling jealousy is a big, big thing to be observed. IT has to be addressed at an early age, otherwise children do grow up resenting the ” favorite” and the parents. It is not one instance of Catherine making jokes, iut is various. We do not know whether she addressed it or not- I give you that- but since Charlotte was detained at home, the implication of the article this decision was made because George would stay too, I am sorry but it did ring some bells.

I understand there might be other concerns, like they not wishing to move out near the school etc…but hey, you know what? It would not be a problem if Kate had not made it one. They would not me moving into a dump so Charlotte could go to school.

Anyway, hope this clears up the air. Ultimately, my conclusion to my comment was: do not accept tips from Kate because she is not a specialist. So, it is not about her per se I am concerned, but people who might think she is indeed a specialist and follow up her examples. I personally would never send my child to a Waldorf school, but this is only a personal opinion and I can understand some parents would like the concept. I am not shitting on that, which is a choice, I am just shitting on what I think is a dangerous mistake.

The jealousy comments are…interesting because of the dynamic in the BRF. That’s why people are criticizing it. They are not a normal family and their dynamic is not a normal family dynamic. ArtHistorian has made many comments over the past few weeks, and specifically in this post, about the “heir and the spare” dynamic in the BRF and how damaging it is. We see it clearly with Elizabeth and her sister, with Charles and Andrew, and with William and Harry. In the last case, the dynamic was so toxic that Harry left the country.

So when they talk about George being grumpy and jealous because his younger brother is doing better than him at something…its not cute or endearing.

  36. Beatz says:

I don’t understand how someone has such a massive platform and yet chooses not to advocate for bigger causes. She can make such a difference. She ought to be ashamed of herself.

    • notasugarhere says:

I doubt Kate thinks that way. She, like William, is under the impression she’s working hard and doing a bang up job. She complained about being too busy when she barely did 100 engagements one year.

  37. Kay Lawson says:

I actually love her dress. I just wish she would wear flat sandals sometimes. As for her weight she has always been thin. Look at her mother and sister. Genes! Charlotte will be skinny too.

    • Becks1 says:

No. She has not always been this thin. She was not this thin in college and during the dating years. She lost weight around the time of the engagement and wedding and has maintained that weight, minus her pregnancies, but over the past year she has lost more weight. It’s not normal to see bones like that. I really hope she is getting help.

      • notasugarhere says:

Agreed, this is not her natural weight. She’s several sizes below her natural frame weight for the last 10 years.
