St. Louis white couple armed with automatic weapons threatens BLM protesters

louis1

St. Louis, Missouri has seen steady Black Lives Matter activism and protests, just like the rest of the country and the world. The way various local and state politicians and police forces have “handled” the protests has widely differed. In St. Louis, Mayor Lyda Krewson decided to use a Facebook Live briefing to name and doxx Black Lives Matter activists – just regular citizens – who have vocalized support for defunding the police and/or who have tried to get St. Louis to change their community policing.

What followed was even stronger protesting throughout St. Louis. Apparently, BLM activists and protesters were somewhere in a wealthier neighborhood. Which is where this happened:

Internet people think that these two are lawyers with their own firm (McCloskey Law Center), which would probably explain the big mansion and the giant automatic weapon. These two brandished their weapons and threatened protesters who were lawfully gathered in the street.

This whole thing is terrifying… for the protesters. Not only do they have to worry about being shot, pepper-sprayed, beaten and trampled by the police, now regular old unhinged, barefoot, polo-wearing Karens are brandishing automatic weapons and threatening activists from their lawns.

LMFAO can you imagine being a flabby middle aged accountant looking mofo wearing a tucked in pink polo shirt (I’m a cool dad – I don’t USE buttons, take that Kate) and thinking you’re a badass with your little gun?

And my god the wife looks terrified holding that handgun – she looks like she’s about to burst into tears because people are exercising their rights to protest.

These people should have their guns removed. They are clearly WAY too unstable, and committing crimes to boot. You don’t get to just brandish your firearms at people. All it would take is one of them tripping or something to ‘accidentally’ fire a round.

    • Ellen Olenska says:

I bet he’s planning on running for public office and this will be in his ad. And as someone said below…he’s totally banging the paralegal.

      • Jus Tiffany says:

lmao @Ellen as a paralegal and on behalf of paralegals we are totally offended.
( he probably hits on the paralegals thinking he can get it, but they laugh behind his back and cause they all know he’s over compensating for his small penis)

      • Original Jenns says:

I agree with Jus Tiffany – paralegals are way to smart to put up with that mess! Gross.

      • Ellen Olenska says:

And @Jus Tiffany and Original Jenn’s…yes, he’s totally overcompensating! And the paralegals laugh at him,

      • Chris says:

You should apologise, Ellen. Your comment about paralegals was horrendous. Same goes for you, Darla (down thread).

      • Trashaddict says:

I often get the feeling that paralegals are often smarter than their employers.

    • chicken tetrazzini! says:

How much fear do these people live with? I’m genuinely asking because, yes, they look terrified and not big and tough like they assume

    • Frida_K says:

I look at this and think: This is their big moment! They have GUNS! Now there is an actual real live ENEMY! They are standing out there like patriots, BESIEGED PATRIOTS, by cracky, holding their LAWFUL GUNS!

And so forth. Like an understudy who finally gets to step in and be the center of attention. It’s a big day for a pair of self-absorbed drama queen white supremacist gun owners! I’ll bet they’ll be able to dine out on this story for months, maybe even do a few podcasts or go on the teevee and speak and all!

It just goes to show that freedumb is never free.

I’m really glad they didn’t shoot anyone. They don’t look like they really know how to handle those guns, do they?

    • whatWHAT? says:

dude looks like he could barely swing a golf club over that flab and moobs. he looks RIDICULOUS. they both do.

I hope they get charged with making terroristic threats. and that their law firm TANKS.

      • ItReallyIsYou,NotMe says:

I hope someone lodges a Bar complaint against them for interfering with a legal protest using weapons. I think that is discipline able as not becoming an officer of the law.

    • holly hobby says:

Yes disbar both of them. I looked at the website and it looks like they took it down. It does look like they are ambulance chasers (personal injury).

      Actions have consequences conselors.

    • Nic919 says:

At one point he is struggling with the strap of the gun and then he is also pointing the gun at his wife on occasion. It is crazy that Americans can have guns and have no idea how to use them.

      • Jordana says:

I’m not an American, and I don’t live in the USA, but it blows my mind to see people walking around with guns, let alone assault rifles. It’s just beyond bizarre.

    • Trashaddict says:

Yeah, and when numbskull Karen accidentally shoots somebody, the tears will fall down and she will say she was scared and didn’t really mean to shoot.

    • Elizabeth says:

Wait, they are within their rights to point their guns at other people in the street with their finger on the trigger?

      This &*?!?!!^& country.

    • Rita says:

They, the property owners, we’re terrified and they admit it. Police did not come and a protesting nut job could have killed them. Their street is essentially a gated community and un-invited people are breaking g the law. The homeowners bought homeownership of the street and sidewalk along with their house. They are lawyers and state it was as as illegal and as scary as if the protesters were in their rliving room. They are progressive and support BLM. But they did not want to be homeless or dead.

  2. Michael says:

They do not look like they know how to use those weapons. Probably will end up shooting somebody by accident. Hopefully each other

    • Snazzy says:

Yes please! The sooner the better. WTF is wrong with people

      • Bevvie says:

        They live in flyover country.

      • waitwhat says:

Bevvie, get over yourself. These lunatics don’t represent everyone in “flyover” country. You’re perpetuating the stereotype of coastal a**holes. And I know for a fact not all coastal-dwelling Americans are a**holes.

    • Mellie says:

She definitely doesn’t look like she knows what she’s doing…he’s probably the type that goes on those “wild game hunts” where the animals are all fenced in and says he killed a lion in the wild or something….

    • Harper says:

That was my thought exactly–that easily triggered with too many guns in the house. Some night after too many drinks. Probably around the holidays.

    • Scal says:

Exactly. They clearly just keep those guns around the house for ‘safety’ but think they don’t need to take a class or practice on how to actually use them. Guns are instinctive don’t you know!

She clearly has never held that weapon before in her life. It’s like something out of a bad tv show. He’s not much better. They are legit pointing their weapons at each other.

    • Arpeggi says:

Karen’s finger is a little bit too close to the trigger and she looks way too nervous… That’s not a responsible way to hold a firearm, especially when stressed; I’m relived that these pro-fascists didn’t kill anyone.

      Also, their house looks dumb

      • Liz version 700 says:

Absolutely. Also they look like they are perfect applicants to be living in a dumb house.

      • Otaku fairy says:

This. It’s awful that we’re still at this point of being glad that nobody got hurt or killed. Just the threat of it is bad enough.

    • Christine says:

She definitely pointed the gun at the back of his head several times in that video. Hopefully it had a safety because yikes.

    • Original Jenns says:

Yes. They are actually terrifying. They don’t know what they are doing, they are completely unstable, and they are going to kill someone eventually in their fright and call it standing their ground.

  3. Darla says:

He’s totally banging the young paralegal.

    • Erinn says:

I wonder if she dyes his hair for him, or if his wife does lmfao.

    • LaraW” says:

Honestly not sure why this comment is funny or relevant to anything in this post. Are you implying that paralegals are brainless pieces of ass who get coffee for lawyers? Because I know a lot paralegals who make six figure salaries in DC overseeing the logistics of huge trials that literally make history, and a lot of paralegals who work on Supreme Court cases that determine the rights, lives and livelihoods of millions of people. So what exactly is your point?

      • Trashaddict says:

My aunt was a paralegal back in the day, she was as sharp as tacks. Won the New York Magazine competition a bunch of times, had to type up contracts before word processors where if you made an error you started all over again. And yes, she was way too smart to marry or mess around with a lawyer.

  4. Aang says:

Karen needs to lay off the salt and elevate those feet. Those kankles look painful.

    • Esmom says:

LMAO. I know it’s mean but I’m crying. The look on her face. So utterly unhinged…and honestly I blame right wing propaganda more than I even blame her. If they were truly gun people, they wouldn’t look so frightened and inept. Instead they’ve stockpiled their weapons because their media sources scared them into it.

    • Jerusha says:

I was going to mention elephantiasis, but was afraid I’d get body shaming slammed. But these people think so highly of themselves when they really need to take a good look in the mirror.

      • Hoot says:

Yes, It appears that neither realizes mirrors are your friend. But being who they are, idk if they’d actually believe what was reflected back at them. People like them live in an alternate reality.

    • BlackWomenMatter says:

I was waiting for someone to say this.

  5. Trillian says:

She looks like a meth addict.

  6. Marietta58 says:

Her legs are swollen, looks like she might have some sort of kidney disease. Maybe she’s just fat, but karma’s a bitch. Lol 😂

  7. Sierra says:

Isn’t this considered a death threat? And shouldn’t these two be charged and thrown in jail?

    • hhalfpint says:

@Sierra – I came here to say the same thing. How is this not illegal?!

    • whatWHAT? says:

just what I’m wondering. the protesters did not threaten them or even step on their property. and these people pointed their guns at them with their fingers on the triggers.

making terroristic threats? there’s gotta be some kind of charge there.

      • Rita says:

The protesters did step on their property. Legally. Awful body-shaming. And … illness shaming.

    • Agirlandherdog says:

It is, but if the mayor is talking sh*t about the protests, do you really think any law enforcement officer is going to arrest them or a DA is going to charge them?? My god, they police will charge in to attack peaceful, unarmed protesters with rubber bullets, but they won’t arrest two rich, white people caught on video assaulting someone with a deadly weapon.

    • Kimmie says:

Lol! Where has everyone been? They’re white and rich. Nothing will happen to them. This is what it looks like when people are made to fear black people for their entire lives. In their minds, they worked hard to get the mansion as far away from the “problem neighborhoods” as they could. Insulated by their wealth and whiteness they watched as protests came closer and closer to their neighborhood. So, they decide to get guns. Lots of guns for protection.
Like others have said, it’s very obvious they don’t know how to use them. Karen’s face says it all. I’m hoping for the sake of the protesters that the safety is on.

  8. Swack says:

I am so embarrassed by this as it has happened in my city. I participated in a march 2 or 3 weeks ago and people in the neighborhoods were handing out cold bottles water to all and encouraging us all. I did not see one bit of negativity even though (with the help of the local police) stopped traffic on 2 major roads on a Saturday morning. Also, at first if you notice, he has his gun pointed at her.

    • Esmom says:

They. Are. Snowflakes. Terrified of anyone that doesn’t live in their “safe” little bubble.

    • Darla says:

Ah ha! He is probably debating whether he could get away with a friendly fire plea so he can marry the hot paralegal he’s banging. Karen with the swollen feet better watch herself.

    • Cassandra says:

You’re embarrassed? Just imagine…… I’m sure these dingbats had kids. Imagine waking up Monday morning to see your parents/grandparents on the news for waving weapons at unarmed protestors 😬😬

      • kgeo says:

My husband just told me that my mom put up something on facebook about black slave owners. I’m mortified. I can’t imagine being these people’s children.
On the other side, I love my parents, but they’re a few rants away from losing access to their grandchildren. I’m not even going to engage about the black slave holders post because I’ve tried it before and it gets nowhere. I don’t think they’ll understand when/if IT happens. It’s not about politics. It’s about willful ignorance and me not wanting my children exposed to that. Actually, the plus side is that these people’s kids might have the push they needed to cut ties….

      • Hoot says:

@kgeo: I hope your kids are very young, because if not they’ve already absorbed and filed away their grandparents’ views. Do not wait. Enforce the consequences. If you have warned your parents (or any other relatives) once, they know where you stand. It is now your RESPONSIBILITY to keep your kids away from them, or else don’t complain when you hear something racist pop out of their mouths.

We can’t choose our parents/siblings, but we can sure as h*ll protect our children from being infected by their ignorant views. Good luck if you have the guts to go through with banning them, and just remember when you’re feeling sad about the situation… they chose to defy you after you warned them, and they knew what the consequence would be. As a parent you must realize that this kind of education begins at home. Your kids (and the world) will be better off for it.

    • Lizzie says:

I came here to say the same. So embarrassed.

    • Whatever says:

Yeah the protests a few weeks ago in very White Kirkwood or Webster suburbs is not the same vibe as walking to the mayor’s office throughout the CWE.

    • BANGS says:

Fellow STL resident here. This is disgusting behavior especially after last week’s mayor drama. These two gave an interview which is available on CNN and they sounds absolutely batshit.

  9. Jess says:

This is why im a proponent for us POCs to get guns as well. I know that sounds crazy but look at how aggressive and unhinged these white people are by our mere presence in a public space doing nothing (peacefully protesting, feeding birds at a park, etc). You got these folks racially profiling, killing us in our sleep (breonna taylor) in our own homes, etc. I genuinely feel unsafe around white people.

The moment that their place in society is threathened, they use violence.

    • Veronica S. says:

Nah, you’re right. I’m white, but I’ve been a proponent for years of liberals embracing (responsible!) gun ownership, particularly those in minority communities for whom our culture is a legitimate danger at times. The MAGA supporters that descended about Whitmer’s office in Michigan definitely showed up to intimidate and are disgusting for it considering it was over *wearing masks,* but there is definitely a calculated point they made there in carrying weapons around police because it sure seemed to make those officers think twice before they laid hands on them, didn’t it?

      • Ainsley7 says:

The MAGA idiots having guns isn’t what made the police think twice. The racist cops being MAGA idiots is why they didn’t bother the “peaceful protesters.” Having a weapon wouldn’t help a POC in the same way. More guns is only going to lead to reinforcing the racist stereotypes that cops use as their excuse. Statistically, guns don’t keep people safe. People are more likely to be hurt with their own gun then saved by it. The only people who own weapons like this are unhinged. Their only purpose is to kill other people. The giant gun that guy has is not for hunting animals. It’s to kill people. We need to ban these weapons end of story. If murder is wrong then we should not allow people to own things that are designed solely for that purpose.

      • Veronica S. says:

I’m aware that there’s a huge race factor at play in terms of how these protests go down, and I agree. I do think, however, there is something to be said for being realistic about the kind of danger people like this present on a general basis in other scenarios. The right is arming itself and stirring up terror. People need to be realistic about what that means, since they promote this kind of behavior.

This being said, I agree weapons rights should be far more limited than they actually are. I’m fine with gun ownership, but the kind of weapons available to the public needs to be limited, registration and training should be required across the board along with regular re-licensing and psychological testing, and frankly, the right should be one of the easiest to rescind in situations like this.

      • Snarky says:

Philando Castille was a registered gun owner with a carry permit. When he was murdered by police, did the NRA support his second amendment rights or help his family in any way? Nope radio silence…they just mean the right to bear arms for white people.

      • Joanna says:

@snarky, that was awful what happened to him. A law abiding citizen murdered by the police while his fiance was in the car with him and I think their baby was too. His poor fiance will have to live with that memory for the rest of her life.

    • Prayer Warrior says:

      I’m sorry. I’m so sorry

    • Lizzie says:

Right wing AM radio AND the NRA have been telling them for years they need their guns to defend themselves from black people. I wish someone could disband those radio stations. They are more pervasive than fox.
Listen in sometime. Back during Ferguson days I heard right wing AM radio hosts saying they would keep driving if there were protesters on the highway.

    • pamspam says:

Dammit. Jess…I am just so sorry.

    • Katrine Troelsen says:

Jess I am asking out of curiousity if you also feel unsafe around white folks in other countries without rampant gun violence?

  10. JJ McClay says:

From an outsider’s perspective (I’m Australian) it is INSANE that anyone has that kind of gun at home. Like, batshit crazy. The idea that it’s an inalienable right to bear arms is so bonkers to me (& I’d guess, to most people outside the US). And the fact that they can POINT their weapons at other people and not face any consequence is absolutely bananas… Until the system around gun ownership is reformed, I hope people at least boycott their legal practice. What awful, awful “humans” they are.

    • Sarah says:

Speaking from Britain, same. Guns scare me a lot before you even get into the stats around all the accidents and shootings that happen each year in the US. It’s terrifying.

    • Izzy says:

Speaking as a Canadian who has lived in the US for years now, I never got used to it and still find it bonkers.

    • Coz' says:

I was about to comment the sane. It’s so freaking crazy. In France, those people would be in jail. And who the F needs an assault weapon? I mean why would you need a normal weapon is also beyond me.
Like those crazy nutjobs who entered the Capitole in Michigan with machine guns. It’s absolutely insane.

      • Prayer Warrior says:

What is truly insane (to me) is that they were allowed to enter the capital in Michigan unmolested. They were not arrested. What if they were black? Think they would have been treated the same way? What if these people were black? We wouldn’t just be shaking our heads at their insanity…we’d be shaking our heads because they’d be dead. Is this considered “standing your ground”?

    • Lady Keller says:

I’m a Canadian. I know people who have guns. People who sustenance hunt or live in the country and genuinely have to worry about things like coyotes and cougars on their property. Even the most gun-happy Canadians I know, the ones who make me uncomfortable with their talk about gun owner rights would never dream of anything like this. Point a gun at another human being and you’re going to jail.

    • Astrid says:

I’m an American living in America and the idea that random idiots can have guns of any kind is bonkers.

    • Jerusha says:

Bonkers to a lot of us born and bred here.

    • Allie says:

German here. US gun laws are insane and one of the main reasons why society AND police are so violent and paranoid. Police only gets a couple of months training (here it’s 2 years +) and always has to deal with the fact that anybody could draw and point a gun at any time. They are trained for self defence and aggression instead for deescalation. I would feel threatened, too, if any idiot could buy a gun and even assault rifles that were made for military use.

    • Lizzie says:

I live here and find it INSANE also.

    • Dorothy Zbornak says:

I’m an American, and I think it’s crazy as well. I’ll never understand why some people want to own a gun. I’m terrified of the gun culture here. Please keep in mind that the majority of Americans support gun control.

    • laura-j says:

As an American I agree completely. No one needs a semi automatic gun in their home. I’m against any gun in the house actually.

    • Malificent says:

When the right to bear arms was added to the Second Amendment of the US Constitution 250+ years ago, it was a direct response to the British crown not allowing colonists to bear arms because of the fear that they would use those arms to revolt (which, ahem, happened anyway). The exact words are, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

What gets lost in the shuffle nowadays is the term “well regulated”. I’m quite sure that the framers of the Constitution did not intend “well regulated” to include redneck Ken and Barbie using a semi-automatic to defend their nouveau riche McMansion from protesters who are peacefully exercising their First Amendment right to free speech.

  11. Giddy says:

I am truly shocked by this. Was this couple ever in danger? No, unless they shot each other. Did anyone threaten them? No, but they certainly threatened protesters with deadly weapons. So what brought them out of their really ugly mansion? I don’t know, but I wish they had been arrested. What horrible people!

  12. Chaine says:

The guy looks kind of like an overweight Stephen Colbert and the woman looks like she had too much to drink while thinking vaguely about going to a yoga class.

    • theotherViv says:

Yoga thoughts may explain why she would run get her gun but did not put on shoes. WTH. I don‘t know why but I would put on shoes before getting my gun unless I was confronting burglars inside the house at night. Barefeet black people waving guns in their front yards and yelling would seem like a quick reason to be arrested.

      • whatWHAT? says:

Barefeet black people waving guns in their front yards and yelling would seem like a quick reason to be SHOT.

        FIFY. 🙁

    • Potato says:

Don’t do Stephen Colbert dirty like that.

  13. Lizzieb says:

@jj McKay. 👍. Even if Elmer Fudd goes a hunting there is no need to have that type of weapon. People who sustenance hunt don’t use these. Someone above said he probably game hunts. Yeah…probably. Is it a crime to threaten someone with a weapon like that? No way can they say they were just protecting themselves. Hope backlash bites them professionally as well.

  14. Aa says:

For factual accuracy, they are not automatic weapons; both are semi-automatic.

Also it is clear by how they are holding the weapons, neither of these people have ever fired a gun (at least unsupervised).

That is not a hunting rifle as it is illegal in most states to shoot large game with the ammo that rifle shoots (it is a very small bullet with a lot of powder to increase velocity.)

Final edit: finally something on celebitchy I can expertly comment on!

  15. Rebecca says:

I hope other MO legal professionals will report these two to the Missouri Bar.

    This is insane.

    • Steff says:

This. I hope they’re fired and never allowed back. Who wants scary maga freaks repping them?

      • Rebecca says:

It appears they have their own firm, specializing in med mal, so I doubt they are firing themselves or each other. Sigh. I’m sure business will pick up as a result of this. MAGAs seem to stick together.

      • Original Jenns says:

They may not be fired, but they can definitely be disciplined and in trouble with the Bar.

      • Eugh says:

What’s sad, I keep hearing the likelihood of them being Democats given the area and status they have is extremely high

    • holly hobby says:

Yelp is having a field day with reviews about this pair. Nothing like bad Yelps to kill a business!

  16. Jay says:

Imagine these two representing you or your company on anything! I hope the professional and financial consequences will be swift and severe.

  17. Lightpurple says:

And the president of the United States has retweeted this video

  18. Canadian bacon says:

Lmaoo looks like some parody movie ..can’t wait for SNL to do a skit of these two idiots

    • Alexandria says:

Key and Peele has done the parody years ago! A group of black young adults or teens attempted to do a flash mob dance and the white folks around them panicked and started shooting!! I’m not American and even I understood the parody too well.

    • Alyse says:

My first thought too! Looks like the worst stereotypes of Americans right there…

America you wild. I sometimes wonder how you’re even real… (I say this with love to the many of you who are nothing like The Deplorables inc)

  19. Mrs. Peel says:

Getting Aileen Wuornos vibes from deranged St. Louis Karen.

  20. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

    My God, it’s Idiocracy: Armed

They look ridiculous. Frightened ferrets with too much money and no clue.

    • Esmom says:

Exactly. This is what the NRA has created. I can’t help but think of how many other ways they could put their money to use.

  21. MellyMel says:

Karen…those legs…oh girl! Anyway, these ppl are batshit and definitely shouldn’t have guns. I don’t even think they know how to use them. It’s like they’re living out some demented MAGAt fantasy. Seek help.

  22. manda says:

Damn that house looks like one of the smithsonians!

    • Mich says:

The house has an interesting story.
      https://www.stlmag.com/design/a-decades-long-renovation-returns-a-midwestern-palazzo-to-it/

      Also, eff these horrible people.

    • Whatever says:

These houses can be purchased for a mere $1M or less.

They pay $500 a month dues for extra security which are off-duty cops so that’s weird.

Lastly, they are barefoot because they were dining al fresco by their pools.

And people say Boston is the most racist city? Y’all have never visited St Louis—it’s crazy bad here.

      • Lightpurple says:

In Boston, they would be arrested for brandishing guns like that.

      • manda says:

well, I know I don’t have a million dollars, but I hear what you are saying.

Also, just to clarify, I don’t think they’re cool because of their house or anything, I was more just struck by juxtaposition of what looks like such an opulent and beautiful building and those trashy reactionary racist gun nuts.

    • Jerusha says:

It reminds me of the courthouses I’ve seen in lots of small Arkansas towns. Lot of stone buildings there.

  23. Marjorie says:

Bradley Whitford and Catherine Keener played them in the movie.

  24. Mumbles says:

Once I got over the horror of these two, the size of that gun, and the relief that nobody got hurt, I had to laugh at someone commenting on social media that they have a “Cheesecake Factory house.”

This is Trump’s base. Not disgruntled former factory workers. Nope, it’s wealthy white people who hate and fear black people.

  25. Tx_mom says:

This is what happens when your “news” sources equate protests with riots.

  26. Tx_mom says:

OMG she isn’t just pointing it at them — HER FINGER IS ON THE TRIGGER.

Can someone explain US gun laws to me? I get that you have a right to own guns. Do you have a right to threaten people who aren’t on your property with them? Shouldn’t Chad and Karen be arrested for this?

    • Veronica S. says:

It depends heavily on the state and even the local county, but generally, no, you are not legally allowed to point weapons at unarmed protesters because they pose no imminent threat to you. Where it becomes murky is Stand Your Ground laws because people look at the statement of “perceived threat” and combine it with castle doctrine to think anything they project a threat onto can be seen an infringement on their existence, and since the media and other political groups has associated protesters with rioting, this generates a sense of ill-at-lease.

But to be frank, any responsible gun owner should be looking at these two in disgust. Not only are they utilizing them improperly, they’re holding them in an incredibly unsafe way. Unless you plan you legitimately shoot somebody, you keep your finger off the trigger, you keep the safety on, you steady it with two hands, and you absolutely do not point it at somebody without intent, much less into a random crowd. They are exactly the type of people who should not own weapons and make an argument for tighter regulations.

    • Lightpurple says:

In my state, those two would be arrested. Nobody is on their property, nobody is threatening them.

      • HeyDay says:

On twitter it appeared the protesters broke into a gated community- a communally gated area. Does that constitute an unlawful break in?

      • Trashaddict says:

Dunno, but gated communities is a thing invented by rich people so they don’t have to be upset by looking at poor people. Because it hurts their eyes.

    • Dorothy Zbornak says:

Gun laws vary from state to state. In my state, which has some of the strictest gun laws in the US, this would be illegal.

  29. Leah says:

All these magat people look the same to me, all angry, entitled, and yelling.

Zero common sense among the entire lot of them.

    • ME says:

It’s like why are they so mad? Why are they so against equality? It’s because the system has favored them and that’s how they want to keep it. That big house wasn’t earned because they just “worked harder”. It’s because being White (and male) gives you a major head up in life. God forbid everyone have the same chance they got.

      • Leah says:

They don’t want anyone else not like them to succeed in life. They know Trump’s reign of terror is ending and change is on the horizon. They are terrified.

That mansion is ridiculous, they could have just stayed inside and locked the doors against the “OMG so scary peaceful protesters” and nothing would have come of it. I wouldn’t be suprised if they have a “panic room”, lol.

      • Alarmjaguar says:

That’s my question, too. Why are they so mad; their lives are better than most people in the world (at least in terms of resources-clearly that doesn’t buy happiness) not to mention most of human history. Why so angry!? (I mean, I know the answer is usually racism and that a black man had the audacity to be elected president, but my god it is astonishing).

  30. aquarius64 says:

I hope charges are filed. And disbarment is in their future.

  31. L says:

As a native of the NYC metro area, I lived in the CWE in St. Louis for four years. Missouri has a very interesting history with regard to race. It was one of those places where families were divided during the civil war. And the CWE is an interesting neighborhood because there are these amazing mansions but not far from there are shabby, black neighborhoods. I noticed very quickly that there was a VERY sharp racial divide in this city and it was hard for me to understand because of where I grew up. So I’m not at all surprised by this, actually.

  32. Allie says:

Must be two of those responsible gun owners…

  33. Suz says:

On NextDoor, where Karen’s reign unchecked, a Karen in my neighborhood said she’s practicing target shooting on her propertahhh because of “what’s going on in the cities.” Yeah. Just…

  34. AB says:

That “house”…. holy cow. How do people get so rich. Those cankles. Yikes.

    • Whatever says:

      It’s St. Louis!

There are houses on that street for sale for about a $1M—Cheaper then a triple-decker in East Boston or a basement unit in San Francisco.

And the house is in a historical district. Yes Karen & her hubby are delusional but their house is NOT a McMansion!

      It’s akin to Back Bay.

  35. AnnaKist says:

This is mental. They look scared shitless, which is all the more reason why they should steer clear of guns. He’s got the big phallic piece, cuz that’s what he needs to feel manly, and she’s got the little one, which tells the real story… Seriously, though, these two are poster kids for bitter, redneck conservatives. They scream about and vigilantly guard *their* right to bear arms, and presumably, their right to take a life because they feel threatened. In their world, they are the “Us”. However, woe betide “Them” who also want to peacefully exercise their right to call attention to ingrained injustice and demand long-overdue change. This is enough to bring the raving cowards out with deadly weapons. How can some people be so fecking stupid, and so consciously and wilfully ignorant? What are they so scared of? It’s not as if they’ll lose anything by shutting their door and allowing a peaceful protest to pass by. They won’t even lose anything when cops stop killing and answering questions (i.e. getting their stories straight) later, or when justice and respect finally come to those who have been denied for so long. Fuckwits.

  36. Jenn says:

Can we stop using the name Karen as insult. Be better than that here and be a safe place. I cannot imagine how anyone named Karen feels seeing that. A poster yesterday said Karen was the name of her late mom and how hurtful it was to hear her late mom’s name used as an insult.

    • Mumbles says:

Rep. Karen Bass is the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and rumored to be on Biden’s list as veep candidates. If Biden picks this congresswoman maybe the “Karen” nonsense will stop. I thought it was funny at first but now it’s tired.

      • Some chick says:

It’s not meant to be funny. It’s meant to show how pervasive this behavior is. Using one umbrella term for “entitled white woman” links the many incidents together – showing patterns and frequency.

It’s nothing to do with anyone named Karen. Obviously.

It started out with the name Becky being used, and then shifted to Karen. Now I’ve seen it in news reports. TBH I think that’s great, because it means the news media are beginning to see the pattern here. Which is the important thing.

It has a life of its own at this point. That is how spoken language works. Feel free to use it or not as you wish. Good luck trying to change it.

I wish we wouldn’t use the name Chad for asinine white men. It comes from incel culture and it gives me the creeps. I prefer Kevin, even tho I know more than one awesome man named Kevin. Karen and Kevin go well together, I think. But these things are not decided by committee. They blow up or they don’t. That’s how culture works.

Personally, I would love to see a lot of women who are actually named Karen make a group donation to BLM. They could sign it, “Love, Karen” and they wouldn’t even have to give their last names unless they wanted to. You know that would go viral, and people would comment about amazing Karens in their lives.

Again, it has nothing to do with innocent women named Karen. Just be happy it isn’t your name being used as internet shorthand.

    • Whatever says:

      It’s called White Fragility, Karen.

Get over it or change your name legally.

Immigrants who were told their names sound too Jewish, too Italian had to do it all the time.

      • Amber says:

in fairness with post 9/11 laws around name changes it’s now very difficult to change your name legally and there are many limitations. The Swedish side of my family changed their surname at Ellis Island a hundred years ago to something more English-sounding, perhaps because they were worried about discrimination, but now that wouldn’t be possible. When my mom got divorced and wanted to go back to her previous married name a few years ago the entire process took nine months, not including the processing time for her passport which was longer. Also people should just realize that the use of the name ‘Karen’ is not a slur against people named Karen. It’s a term to describe dangerous white privilege and recklessness. I know people named Karen who are generous and kind people. I also know that the term ‘Karen’ isn’t about them. I personally use ‘Janet’ for angry entitled white women in my head as it’s more descriptive somehow. I don’t think anyone should change their name in response to this development and it’s heinously impractical to do so anyway.

    • Sparkle says:

Get over it and stop making this about your hurt feelings over the name Karen. This movement is not about your feelings Karen.

Also if it upsets you when people call a woman “Karen”, you should try being called some of the racial slurs and names I’ve been called in my lifetime.

Do yourself a huge favor and Stop complaining about this.

      • Emma says:

That is very rude to say. The poster Jenn referred to said her mom died and hearing her mom’s name used as an insult is hurtful. She is literally grieving the death of her mom.

      • LaraW” says:

        @Emma

I am literally grieving for all the brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children who were enslaved, whipped, raped, lynched, shot, jailed, killed, drugged, and suffocated for about 400 years.

So sit down and shut the fuck up.

    • Jane's Wasted Talent says:

I had a similar reaction a few weeks ago. I was wrong. This isn’t about us, or anyone named Karen, but instead about the monstrous injustice that we have all witnessed- and the stunning fact that this has been going on for generations, that so many Americans are saying,’ This is what it’s been like for us all along.’ Anything else melts away into triviality compared to this, so to focus on those trivialities hurts people. To even mention this now is to suggest that that it has some kind of comparable importance. So, as the other posters are saying, just let it go. It’s a pinprick- while ladies and gentlemen of color are suffering and being terrorized.

  37. AA says:

Did you notice HE’S POINTING THE GUN AT HER at various points and she’s got her finger on the trigger? I have a feeling neither one of them has gun training based on how they are acting. Geesh.

  38. paranormalgirl says:

Good Lord, who let Chad and Karen have guns?

  39. Betsy says:

Karen is way too good a name to use up on people like this. I’m still using “Tammy,” personally.

  40. Lilly (with the double-L) says:

I read here the other day, and have seen on Balleralert too on IG, the theory that some know they’ll go viral and dress up (from the 90’s eyebrows and Bebe shirt preparation for your close up!?!). I think these people were hoping to raise their profiles too and have their nonsense statements ready to go. Golf shirt and cankles, though? I hate to body shame (I have plenty of flaws), but if I were giving advice… boot cut leggings? And, don’t threaten people with guns. The lady (?) can probably afford the Miley Cyrus cankle improvement treatment too.

    • Whatever says:

      It’s Missouri where BBQ reigns!

Everyone is heavier here in the Midwest.

The local dish is Gooey Butter Cake people!

    • Jane's Wasted Talent says:

The Trader Joe’s actress was obviously premeditated, but Annie Oakley here had mustard on her shirt so this was probably an extemporaneous performance. Also heard she was drunk- she does sound slurry in the one video where I could pick out her voice.

Slightly related- a fun insult for people like the Trader Joe’s woman is to say rather loudly and cheerfully from the crowd,’Theater in the round!’ when there’s a break in their shouting. It seems to embarrass them enough to quit, if you want the entertainment to end.

  41. Caty Page says:

Well, that’s enough internet for today and it’s 9 a.m.

People commenting on the link, “but they were on private property because it’s a gated community!”

Aside from the fact that “logic” is so SO PROBLEMATIC, it’s not THEIR private property because they don’t own the sidewalk. You can’t shoot someone for being on someone else’s property in even the most backwater hick parts of the U.S.

I’m done with my country. I’m an American and I hate America with a passion.

  42. Grace says:

And THIS is why we need gun reform in the United States. People like that, appearing unhinged by fear, brandishing powerful weapons. Nothing good comes of this.

    • Miatagal says:

She obviously does not know how to handle a gun. Finger should not be on the trigger. Too many idiots out there with these things and no training. Frightening.

  43. ooshpick says:

Canadian here. Every time I see these photos of faces distorted with righteous anger and disgust my heart sinks a little deeper. I am so deeply shaken by what is going on in the States right now. We have many problems with racism here in Canada and this is not an attempt to pretend we don’t but for all my neighbors with a conscience, I am so sorry that your country is suffering like this. I love many American values. As an artist I believe some of the finest ideals have come out of America. I have always felt respect and admiration for the majority of what America brings to the global plate…and when I say America i mean the citizens not the government. I stand in solidarity with your suffering. May November bring a better day.

  44. Redgrl says:

No longer USA (if it ever was). Now DSA – Divided States of America.

    • L says:

interestingly, a psychic called Baba Vanga said the 44th president would be the last president of the United States. A lot of people thought she was saying the world would end, but I always thought she meant the states would no longer be united. And it appears her prediction was spot on.

    • Jane's Wasted Talent says:

We are the new Romans, this has always been inevitable. But growing up, I always thought it would be something my grandchildren might have to deal with- I never thought we’d fall this far in my lifetime.

  45. Hope says:

You can find this couple’s law firm page on FB – McCloskey Law Center. The comments are…entertaining. My favorite so far is:

“How do you manage to practice law when you’re too busy getting drunk in front of your Olive Garden looking house waving guns at families?”

    • Jaded says:

I just left a comment too – that “they’re what’s wrong with America today, not the peaceful protesters in front of their ugly, wedding cake house”. Sometimes money just can’t buy taste.

  46. Kyre says:

Being a lawyer does not explain having an automatic weapon. Why would you say that?

  47. BL says:

I just so wish Karen (Tammy?!) had accidentally shot her husband in the foot or something. That would’ve been the best.

  48. Mina_Esq says:

Pointing weapons at people walking by your house is insane, especially since most daytime protests have been peaceful. If I’m being perfectly honest, I’d be scared if there were protests in front of my house. I’m Canadian so I’d probably just put on my masks and hand out donuts in order to feel less anxious. My husband is a somewhat hotheaded American though, and I could see him yelling at people to get off his lawn 😔 Not with a semi-automatic though sheeesh

  49. Ann says:

I thought she was pointing her finger too! OMFG! What wackos!

  50. Amber says:

Yesterday in Orange County, CA, a guy got mad at me because I cut him off in traffic. He parked his car behind me in the middle of the road, walked up to my car (I was stopped at a traffic signal), and yelled at me for “almost causing an accident.” He had a gun on his hip in a holster and put his hand on the gun as he spoke to me. Then he had to run back to his parked car when the signal changed and everyone behind him was stuck. He was an old man just like these people. Who was perfectly willing to endanger himself, me, and the other motorists just to assert his dominance, his power, and his anger. Covertly threatening the use of a firearm the entire time.
I’m a blond, blue eyed white woman. I dread to think what would have happened if the person he yelled at had been BIPOC. These people are everywhere, and they are becoming even more emboldened and reckless.

    • ME says:

      Wow that is insane !

    • Hoot says:

The OC has been like that for decades, filled with angry hate-mongers who feel entitled to take their rage out on anyone who is different than them. In the mid-80’s, during Friday rush hour, an angry *ss-hole jumped out of his car and ran over to my husband, who was stopped in traffic with everyone else. He was pissed about something husband did and fired a hard right cross, punching down into the driver’s window at husband’s head. Luckily, the window was rolled up just seconds before the punch landed and angryman shattered the glass (and his hand). Very glad he was carrying no gun.

  51. ChillyWilly says:

I’m so ashamed to be American. It’s so depressing.

  52. ME says:

Correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t those protesters on the sidewalk? That is public property. Also, imagine if it was a Black man and his wife outside of their house with guns drawn yelling at people. The cops would have been called and the two of them would have had knees on their necks. Tell me I’m wrong.

    • Gutterflower says:

There was a picture posted of the neighborhood showing that it’s a private road, gated even. The protestors were supposedly trespassing. I’m not saying that it’s true, or that these jerkoffs weren’t overreacting, just that there was a post on a twitter thread about it.

      • ME says:

I’m just going by what I saw in the video. If it was a gated community, how did the protesters get in? Either way that dude and woman’s reaction was really really uncalled for.

      • Evie says:

There are pictures and videos online that shows the protestors knocking the gates down to gain entrance. The cops were called. There are photos online showing that some of the protestors were armed with weapons as well. There was a news photo of a protestor pointing a rifle at the wife.

We live in a crazy world.

      • Elizabeth says:

Yes I saw that too. Let’s assume the street (most likely) belongs to a homeowners’ association. It’s still not these two hideous jerkhats’ property. They still have no reason or right to run up aggressively provoking a violent conflict and start wildly pointing guns at peaceful people.

How do they know a neighbor or resident didn’t invite the protestors in? No, they just ran on assumption, anger, and racism. This country, I swear.

No one cares about your chunk of concrete looking house.

      • LaraW” says:

        Found this on another site:

“The couple claimed they were in danger because the protestors kicked down a fence, but you can clearly see the fence was opened for them in this video at 27:55.

        https://www.facebook.com/derk.brown.5/videos/1545517372276703/

  53. mk says:

Tax those MFs at 90%, defund the wealthy racists!

  54. Sharonk says:

This is the saddest story I have read. WTF has happened to our country. First the pandemic, then president orange moron( no mask idiot) and now regular people brandish assault rifles at peaceful protesters.
I hope they lose their law practice. Why didn’t they just call the police.

    • Sparkle says:

Such an ugly display by this couple. They embody the worst side of America.

I doubt they would have pulled guns on their fellow citizens had they been white people marching for Trump.

  55. Poisonella says:

If I ever perceive a threat from a crowd of people outside my house and was afraid- certainly would not be outside waving guns- I would be barricaded behind closed doors hoping they would leave me alone. But, that’s just me.

    • Joanna says:

Yes, me too! My thoughts are that if you are scared, you would not run out to the perceived danger!

  56. Laura says:

This happened in my town last month. A known racist took a shotgun and sat outside his bar waving it at people, screaming ‘N——er lover!” at the white protesters. A young man thought he was an active shooter and tried to tackle him. The young man was killed. No charges were filed, as the death was ruled ‘self defense’. Cause an armed white guy was soooooo scared of an unarmed black man.

  57. SJR says:

Looking at these photos, my thought is that neither of these 2 are able to properly handle a gun.
Just because you have the $, does not qualify you to safely own firearms.
These 2 are most likely to injure themselves vs. defend anything.

Btw, a large costly house like that could easily have a home security system installed. Much safer than these 2 holding firearms.

Also, as lawyers do they not know that human are not criminals just by walking outside past your house?

All the wrong people got the big money, Lord. IMO.

  58. Mandy says:

These two are an UNHINGED NIGHTMARE. Disgusting and shameful.

  59. EllaBella says:

Not all protestors have been civil and peaceful. Public and private properties can sustain damage. I can’t imagine being so scared and anxious to see a group of strangers yelling and shouting on my block that I’d run out my home with guns. Everyone on is on edge with the state of things this year. I keep hoping and pray to hear good news, kindness, blessing and miracles in this hard times. But there’s nothing but fear, animosity and self righteousness.
