Katie Nicholl: Duchess Kate hand-delivered flowers to Meghan at some point

HRH The Prince of Wales Birthday Family Portrait

Katie Nicholl has been doing all of Vanity Fair’s coverage on the Finding Freedom excerpts. The bulk of her coverage is just from the excerpts themselves, a repackaging of many of the stories told by authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. Nicholl is a long-time Cambridge/Middleton operative, and I’ve often referred to her as a Keen hagiographer because she gets some flattering “scoops” about Kate so consistently. Well, in Nicholl’s coverage of FF, she’s been dropping in some exclusives of her own, from her own sourcing in various palaces or perhaps from Anmer Hall. Here are some of her exclusives:

Why the palace is so worried about FF: “The Palace are worried about the book because they know what really happened behind the scenes,” a source said. “Frankly they should be breathing a sigh of relief. It could have been a lot worse.”

Meghan & Harry weren’t shown FF: Vanity Fair has learned that Harry and Meghan were not shown a copy of the manuscript, nor did they ask to see one ahead of publication on August 11. While they come across as victims for the most part, particularly at the hands of the tabloid press, other senior royals come under scrutiny. While Prince Charles appears largely as a well-intentioned father who wants the best for his youngest son, William and Kate “‘come across as quite cold at times and unwelcoming,“ adds the source.

The real villains: “The villains aren’t the royals themselves, the villains are the tabloid press and the institution,” added the insider about the book. It is understood that some details were omitted from the final manuscript because they were deemed “either too personal or potentially litigious.”

Kate brought flowers to Meghan at some point: Vanity Fair understands that at one point Kate attempted to rectify the situation by taking flowers to Meghan as a peace offering. While this anecdote is not detailed in Finding Freedom, Meghan (who according to Finding Freedom had accepted flowers from Kate in the past for her birthday) told Kate in no uncertain terms that flowers were not enough.

Courtiers are big mad: Buckingham Palace has so far refused to comment on the excerpts but courtiers are said to be incensed by the suggestion that the Sussexes were unsupported by the palace machine. One senior source insists that senior members of the royal family as well as high ranking courtiers went “above and beyond to make things work for [the Sussexes].” It is understood that certain palace aides contacted the book’s authors ahead of this weekend’s serialization to find out how damaging some of the claims would be amid fears the book will further damage the fragile relationship between Harry and his family. “The book has definitely caused a degree of panic at the palace because a lot of courtiers know the true story and the truth is it doesn’t reflect well on anyone,” remarks one insider.

[From Vanity Fair]

I’m very curious about the stories that were apparently omitted. My guess is that it has something to do with the palace leaks. I’ve been surprised by the fact that none of the excerpts have dealt in detail with Harry and Meghan’s concerns about who leaked what information about them, especially their Sussexit plans. So many of those stories came directly from Kensington Palace’s operation, I have no doubt, and Harry and Meghan know that too. They know that William and Kate were running to the press constantly to smear them. Hell, William tried to throw Meghan under the bus when people were speculating about Rose Hanbury! He literally went to Richard Kay with that sh-t. So is that what got edited out? Rosebush drama?

Also, Andrew Morton is right.

  1. Kiera says:

Once the book comes out I bet a few of these stories will get leaked just like things did from Charles book. Things that they can’t print in a legitimate book but will last the gossip test. My guess is the Rose Hanbury situation and how that story got buried along with using the Sussex’s as a shield for Andrew.

  2. ArtHistorian says:

“It could have been a lot worse” and “there’s panic at the Palace” – what the hell went down? If the palace was so afraid of this book, then they know that their actions make them look bad (despite the efforts to portray Harry and Meghan as being the only ones at fault).

I really wish the unvarnished truth will come out at some point. I think it is a LOT more than Harry’s family not being welcoming and the staff being disrespectful.

    • Ella says:

Protecting the Queen from seeing this unfold under her reign. After that….

As ITV said in one of its reports:

‘We are spared the ugly details which underpin all those disagreements and we are unlikely to get those until a time when the Queen is no longer with us.‘

The book seems to be a sanitised version of the truth. Its carefully hinting at alleged racial and sexual slurs from very senior household members and staff. Read between the lines.

      • Ella says:

        Twitter Tea:

‘ When Harry&Meghan left the royal family, I was on a business trip w/ an individual who frequents their social circles. Person said they “left” because the royals are astoundingly racist and they were most likely pushed out. Maybe common knowledge, but it was news to me.’

      • Candikat says:

I was told something similar by someone in a position to know, way back in mid-2019. Not that they were pushed out precisely, but that the racism from the top was SO overt, SO blatant, and SO bad that H&M felt they had to leave to protect their son (who was treated as practically illegitimate in the eyes of the family.)

      • February-Pisces says:

So basically Harry’s own family don’t want anything to do with archie? So f*cking sad that they would treat him like that. Kate didn’t even look at the baby during that polo match and that was suppose to be the first meeting.

Charles and the queen don’t deserve to have harry in their lives. How many times have the press put out that they only want HIM back.

I have a feeling that the big secret is even worse than that though. We all know that lot are racist as hell, but it’s something so bad that it would shut up the racist Karen’s on twitter once and for all. They won’t be able to defend it. Racist behaviour towards Meghan however is acceptable in their eyes, so they wouldn’t care about that.

      • morrigan01 says:

@February-Pisces IMO it shouldn’t even be some big surprise that the RF and Courtiers etc don’t care about Archie. Their actions wrt him while he was in utero and after he was born when people called him a monkey and such shows they never cared about him. (And I 100% believe they never wanted him to be born and were hoping for a stress miscarriage). Neither Charles nor the Queen care about him in their lack of trying to protect him, and Will and Kate made it damn clear they don’t care about him when William said he already was an uncle because of Pippa having a baby.

Archie will be much better off, and much more loved and protected, without any of those people in his life.

    • Becks1 says:

Yup, exactly. They were “worried” because they know what “really happened” and the book could have been a “lot worse.” I mean….that just makes the palace and courtiers look REALLY bad.

I don’t know if we will ever get the full truth, but I do think a lot more about the family in general will come out after the queen passes.

      • Ginger says:

This is a watered down version of what happened and the RF still look really bad. I can’t even imagine all of what happened.

    • Kris Jung-On says:

Right? The more they panic and say things like that, the more I feel for Meg.

“A lot of courtiers know the true story and the truth is it doesn’t reflect well on anyone” – I hate these racists. The only thing that gives me comfort is knowing that history will shine an ugly spotlight on this mob, exposing them. Here’s hoping I live to see it.

    • Golly Gee says:

Details may have been omitted because Britain has strong libel laws and the onus would have been on Scobie and Durand to prove their assertions, which may have been difficult as their sources may be vulnerable or in sensitive positions. Legally, they would also be no match against the powerful legal clout the royal family can afford.

I also wonder how much the lawsuit against the Sun has to do with certain information being withheld from the book.

      • Guest with Cat says:

Britain has strong libel laws? I’m sure you know, but I am shocked to hear that, given all the absolute garbage that was said about Meghan and none of the tabloids nor the authors of recent books on Harry and Meghan seem to hold back on the fiction.

    • Cate says:

You might not like the truth. The truth is never easy.

      • Elizabeth says:

Actually, Cate, people who are grownups and ethical human beings have no need to fear truth or revelations.

Let me guess … not only did Meghan eat avocado toast, she drank fancy coffee. Oh dear! The harsh truth!

      • blue36 says:

So why is the palace afraid of the truth? They sure went to great lengths to trash this book because it might have this “truth”

      • Stacy Dresden says:

I heard she has real feet like with toenails and stuff. And also that she likes Diptyque candles! Burn the witch!!

  3. Pearl Grey says:

I see Kensington Palace are wasting no time trying to frame the narrative coming out of Finding Freedom by doing what they do best, painting Kate as the poor victim who tried to patch things up with Mean Meghan, Duchess Difficult. I’m surprised the Top CEO had time to hand deliver Meghan flowers. Surely she would have had her executive assistant send them for her instead? Cue more late stories of all the red carpet rolling the royals did for Meghan. Next we’ll hear about how William offered her a helicopter ride to Harrods and the Queen offered to name her next corgi after her, but the unforgiving actress said it was not enough(!)

    • Priscila says:

Katie is a perfectionist: the reason she could not have come to Meghan´s earlier was that she was planting the flowers she would be giving Meghan as a peace offering. But you know, as soon as the flowers were good to go, Top CEO Katie herself made a beautiful, regal arrangement, hopped onto her beautiful, regal carriage and went to singly handled white save Meghan- just to find out that Meghan was a super, duper, terribly angry black woman, who deserved nothing more or less than white tears!

      • Pearl Grey says:

Of course. In fact, I’m sure it was Duchess Green Thumbs and George, Charlotte and Louis who all planted the flowers, watered them, grew them and arranged them together. A real labour of love.

Even if the ever-busy future Queen did give Meghan flowers, it actually shows even more so how deliberate and calculated her decision to stay silent on all the “rift” stories in the press was. Why go to the trouble of hand delivering a peace offering to someone’s face whilst readily allowing vicious rumours of them bullying you to continue to circulate in the national papers and on social media unchecked? If she really wanted to make up, releasing a statement to shut down the feud allegations would have been a good way to go (just like she had no problem doing when it came to trivial matters like Botox and hair extensions), not an empty gesture of flowers done in secret. This makes her look two-faced, playing nice in front of Meghan whilst stabbing her in the back. This story does not help her case at all.

      • Nic919 says:

She probably got Catherine Quinn to hand deliver flowers from one of her many gardens with a passive aggressive note about all the work she has done gardening.

      • Lady D says:

I wonder if the smear campaign is why Catherine Quinn left in first place? She didn’t want to be part of the ‘get rid of the black woman’ agenda.
I may be dreaming, but it would be nice to think that at least one person working in that poison pit was decent.

      • Becks1 says:

@LadyD – maybe, but my theory is still that she left because she wanted to work, and Kate didn’t.

      • Tour malinn says:

Perhaps the flowers were lillys, so Meghan knew Kate wanted to poison her, which she knew would work because she did the same to Charlott on her wedding day, which made Kate cry and also made her revengful, so she hand delivered them to make sure Meghan will eat those lillys, with her avocado toast, or something.

      • Nic919 says:

Catherine Quinn left to do charitable work, which is quite telling because that’s what KP is supposed to be doing. Obviously she was tired of working for an infantilized woman with no intellectual curiosity or passion for anything but shopping.

      • Priscila says:

@Tour malinn I think you nailed- it was all payback for when Meghan tried to kill Charlotte with flowers, but Meghan was like ” nah, Top CEO- you gotta do better next time! Wait for 2020, I say- my time will come to shine!”

    • Guest with Cat says:

Lol. Unfortunately the Queen only has dachshund-corgi crosses now. I wonder why she gave up on corgis. Sorry, I digress.

  4. Izzy says:

Meghan is correct: Flowers are not enough to make up for racist meangirl behavior from a petty twunt.

    • bub244 says:

I’m impressed at her actually saying it out loud though, I am not that brave.

      • Izzy says:

I mean, there’s a breaking point though, right? There’s a point at which you would have to say “no, your constant mean girl antics and planting BS stories with the press and fanning the flames of racism using my own damn family members… flowers don’t cut it, your behavior needs to change or everything else is moot.”

      • Nancy says:

I know! Dying to know what she said.

  5. Darla says:

“know the true story and the truth is it doesn’t reflect well on anyone,”

I suspect that’s true. In situations like this it rarely does. I have something very similar in my peasant family, I really do! And the truth as I have witnessed it anyway, doesn’t reflect well on any of the four participants.

    • Nic919 says:

This both sidesism is tiresome. The truth will make the Cambridges and courtiers look very bad that’s why legal had to remove a lot of things. We already know the gist of what Harry and Meghan have done because it’s been reported non stop since 2017.

Does Meghan have to sit there and accept being gaslighted and told racist things? That some dumb notion of hierarchy created by lazy racists means she expected too much from her alleged support staff? Please tell me how Meghan and Harry look bad in this at this point. Should they have stayed to take more abuse?

      • goofpuff says:

Yeah I hate the two sides things. There are not ‘two sides’ to racism. One side is racist assholes and the other side is people who don’t have to put up with that racist shit. Shocking to the racists, but guess what we POC don’t need to put up with that kind of behavior and we have every right to call you out on it and tell you go fuck yourselves. It doesn’t reflect bad on us at all because we aren’t your doormats anymore.

So You Go Girl Meghan for telling them the only apology that is worth accepting is for them to end their racist crap and take ownership for what they did.

      • L4frimaire says:

This is a general observation about this whole narrative. Here is what a bugs me so much. There are some out there who think that in order for Meghan to have any sympathy, even a shred of it, she has to behave perfectly. She’s not allowed to be angry, or frustrated or snap at anyone, be impulsive or have her friends defend her. Basically be a real human. This makes my teeth itch. So what if Kate gave her some raggedy little bouquet. It’s about as sincere as those meaningless Instagram birthday wishes. Back it up with positive action, which she and Will never did. She was constantly disrespected and was in a hostile work environment, but if she’s not the perfect, gracious fairy princess, well she had it coming. That’s not how real people function, even those who have been horribly wronged. This attitude applies to a lot of women and women of color, they have to be the perfect victim or they deserve no sympathy or justice. Miss me with this BS.

  6. Sofia says:

A lot of worrying over nothing. The excerpts are pretty tame so far. The worst the Cambridges come off as is snobs and unwelcoming.

The courtiers would have benefited from staying silent until the book actually comes out. Then go to the tabloid press to do your own revisions.

    • A says:

William comes off as low key racist. And Kate’s stories are all about point-scoring and putting people in their place which I think damage the image of the nurturing, hardworking future queen she’s been trying to cultivate.

      • Sofia says:

Key word is “lowkey”. The book doesn’t say it outright and for good reasons but it’s enough for the usual folks to defend him just a bit because like I said, it doesn’t say it outright.

Nobody including the Sussexes come off great in this book but like I said, the BRF comes off as tame.

      • Nic919 says:

Anyone who has a painting of a slave boy in their sitting room is a racist. Both William and Kate are racist. They have no excuse to have a painting of what is essentially a lawn jockey in their damn home. They were born in 82 and don’t have the generational excuse of not knowing this was unacceptable. They just don’t care. And of course William said more than just “this girl”.

    • Jaxonmeh says:

@Sophia Language is an interesting thing. How this book reads to British eyes may be completely different then how it reads to American eyes.

We may use the same words, but at times it can mean something completely different. If you’re not British, I could see how these excerpts seem underwhelming, especially if you’ve been following the drama.

But sometimes Brits day something and it will not have the same impact on American ears. I learned this repeatedly when I lived in England for two years.

@Kaiser, these new pop ups are really intrusive on the phone. Even when writing comments. Several times I’ve had the same pop up pop over what I’m writing.

      • Sofia says:

I am British (but you obviously didn’t know that because we don’t know everyone’s nationalities here)

But I have been following this whole thing. These excerpts aren’t “underwhelming” but more so “Oh I figured that out”. I’m not mad or upset about the book because I think it’s designed for the more casual reader and not the serious royal watchers who have been keeping up with everything. It’s just trying to combat some tabloid narratives but not pick a side. I think the reader is supposed to come up with their conclusions but I don’t know because the book isn’t out yet.

      • Genessee says:

Tone and body language is important too.

Was it “this girl” or “THIS girl” or “This (waves hand dismissively while lifting eyebrow and curling lip in disgust)….girl.”

    • Tessa says:

I can’t get over how rabid people are on comments section overpraising William and Kate and slamming Meghan.

  7. Florence says:

Were they poisonous flowers like the ones at the wedding /s

  8. Eleonor says:

Will and Kate “‘come across as quite cold at times and unwelcoming” which is the British aristrocrat slang for “two entitled @##hole” I presume.
All the feeling I have, reading this, is how really outdated is the Monarchy and how I am happy to live in a country that doesn’t have this circus.

  9. Priscila says:

VF has me confused at why they keep Katie Nichols. She is not a good writer, does not have good sources other than the Cambridges and her takes are useless because her agenda is so clear.

Anyway, how convenient of her to bring up a story in the context of a book that is flattering to her employes and that is, strangely, not in the book!

KP needs to get their facts straight. Once they said they could not deny anything because it was ” all true” now they are saying they did everything nd anything to keep the Sussexes happy, but the greedy buggers never were.

FFS, be at least rational! If KP supported Sussexes so much, why the hell there were so many leaks? Why the hell they allowed Archie to be compared to a chimp and the rags to say Meghan made Catherine cry without a single word and call this the best they could do?

I wish Omid would go there, but I understand William would be suing the hell out of him if he really spoke each and every word he knows it was spoken.

“It could have been worse” Good job on making the Cambridges and the KP look less evil, Katie!

    • Alexandria says:

VF should hire ArtHistorian, Digital Unicorn and Nic.

      • Priscila says:

Yep! But although VF is known for having its hit pieces, it generally only speaks badly of the dead, which is the opposite of what you should do, but allow them to keep the litigation costs low.

and they have another royal watcher, Emily I think, who is not as bad as Katie.

      • Nic919 says:

Hahaha. My stuff would never get cleared by legal.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Nic919 – Which is why you royal watch for Celebitchy! I thank you very much for future work!

      • ArtHistorian says:

I’d just turn it into a history lesson. As entertaining as the shenanigans of the House of Windsor are, historical royal scandals were much juicer. I just finished a biography of Catherine the Great – that woman hated her late and unlamented husband so much that she not so subtly implied that her son and heir was illegitimate in her memoirs – just a as final fuck you. Also, her favorite/lover Potemkin chose several lovers for her. Then there’s the Danish king Frederik IV who became a bigamist not once but twice!

  10. Busyann says:

Hmmmm, the flowers thing. I wonder ifKate had done that so many times, and Meghan saw through the bs and was like “enough, try something else?”

  11. Faye says:

Meghan was correct about the flowers not being enough. Kate allowed falsehoods against Meghan, that involved Kate, run freely in the press and never lifted a finger to stop them.

  12. Becks1 says:

Well at least now we all know why the palace and the reporters have been panicking over this book for the past 6 months -t hey were scared it would reveal the truth.

I am very curious about the things that got removed.

  13. Alexandria says:

Trying to label the tabloid press and the institution as villains but they forget Queenie and Charles can and have shown they can control the narrative. But they did not. As for the leaking courtiers, the buck stops at Petty Betty. She is ineffective, inept, out of touch and pompous, nuff said. Abolish the monarchy!

  14. Belli says:

So much for not caring about this “irrelevant” book.

I’m taking “the true story doesn’t reflect well on anyone” to mean that it reflects badly on the royal family and on the courtiers. If it reflected badly on Harry and Meghan they wouldn’t care.

  15. taylor says:

So did they roll out the red carpet or did they behave in a poor manner and try to make up for it after? It can’t be both, right? One thing KP makes sure to do is cover all their bases, even when narratives are contradictory. They always have an answer that way, but the people paying attention can see right through it.

    • Sofia says:

Exactly. They either “rolled out the red carpet” for her or they never liked her from the beginning. Both narratives can’t be true

  16. Islandgirl says:

    “It could have been worse”
Wow….what did the BRF and the courtiers really do to “this girl” and Harry?

In any case the excerpts are enough to show that they were racist, classist, jealous hypocrites.

    Harry and Meghan ….do.not.go.back.

  17. S808 says:

Flowers are not enough to make up for anything. I would’ve trashed them.

  18. Islandgirl says:

    “It could have been worse”
Wow….what did tge BRF and the courtiers really do to “this girl” and Harry?

In any case the excerpts are enough to show that they were racist, classist, jealous hypocrites.

    Harry and Meghan ….do.not.go.back.

  19. Harper says:

When did Kate hand-deliver these flowers? When the Sussexes had packed up the KP office due to constant press leaks from Kate and Wills’ staff? Or, maybe when they were moving out of London to Frogmore for some much-needed distance and Kate picked a few flowers from the beds in Kensington Palace and stopped by to say good riddance, I mean goodbye with one of her big hyena grins? Perhaps Kate brought some lame flowers over for that one time she and Wills stopped in for ten minutes to see newborn Archie after months and months of silence and sticking it to the Sussexes with the commercial jet stunt? Sounds like Meghan knows cover-your-ass flowers when she sees them.

    • Nic919 says:

Even if the flower story is real, which is extremely doubtful, Kate still acted like a major bitch to Meghan in public at a church service because she wasn’t able to walk in a procession. That is our last impression of Kate in that relationship and it looks horrible on her.

  20. Emily says:

She delivered flowers, but never thought to correct the story about Mean Meghan making her cry?

  21. Mary says:

I wonder if some of the omitted material deals with the “disturbing drama” that allegedly happened shortly after the wedding that would, if it came out, put M & H in a more favorable light (per an interviewed RR who said it is not being divulged for legal reasons). I do hope that info comes out soon!

    • Becks1 says:

I am confused about all the comments like that from RRs, lol. Like I’m having trouble putting them into place. Tom Bradby said that things were said that could not be unsaid, Keir Simmons said off the record that there was something big that could not be discussed for legal reasons but did not involve H&M, and then we have that other comment about the drama shortly after the wedding.

There are some big things behind the scenes and I wonder when/if they will ever come to light.

Omid gave an interview about the book and I think some of the deleted passages deal with staff – he mentions one staff member who was fired (did not quit, was fired) and said he couldn’t say more, and he said the night nurse for Archie was let go after 2 nights for a very good reason.

      • Sofia says:

Could it be that there was drama BEFORE the wedding, let’s say at the bridesmaid’s fitting which was the REAL reason why Kate cried. Hence why KP didn’t deny it until now and why the reasons kept changing.

      • Ginger says:

Omid said the night nurse behaved in an unprofessional manner. I think she was trying to sell pics or stories to the tabloids

      • Mary says:

Sean Smith in his book coming out in November is supposed to talk about some big post-wedding drama. Am curious. Yeah, even though there are legal reasons to not blab, you would think the RR’s would be giving bigger hints. I am hoping that once Brexit happens the Cambridges will no longer have viable “privacy” EU threats and the sh*t will fly!

      • Nic919 says:

It’s hard to say if the veiled comments from Bradby, Simmons and that guy on GMA all relate to the same thing. Whatever it is that would make the public sympathize with Harry and Meghan sounds like a big deal. Like a massively racist thing was done or something along those lines. I doubt this book reveals it, but the lawsuits against the tabloids are likely to provide more of a clue.

  22. Digital Unicorn says:

Am surprised Top CEO didn’t make sure a pap was there to immortalise this moment. Who knows whether it happened as I’m inclined to think it’s just a mad up story to make Top CEO look like a victim – a role that she is super keen to play.

I think a lot of what was NOT printed in the book has to do with the Yorks and Cambridges but mostly the Cambridges as they seem to really really dislike Meghan and are determined to ruin that marriage. Are they so unhappy and miserable within themselves and each other that they think ruining a happy family will make them feel better about themselves?

    • notasugarhere says:

I agree. Made up to make Kate The Pretend Peacemaker look like a victim. Her fav role as you wrote.

I can see W&K determined to tear Harry and Meghan apart out of jealousy. Jealousy for their work ethic, their popularity, their initiative and success, and their happiness.

  23. aquarius64 says:

Looks like Operation Throw the Courtiers under the Bus is in full swing. When the book comes out and more dirt is revealed there will be a Saturday night massacre with firings.

    • Beach Dreams says:

Unfortunately for them it’s not working. People are generally criticizing the RF as a whole and they see that the rot involves the actual members. When those idiots finally realize this, the backstabbing will begin.

    • Nic919 says:

Will there though? Christian Jones was revealed to help leak info and has not sued for libel, meaning it’s true and he’s still there.

      • MsIam says:

That’s because Christian Jones will claim that it was done on “bosses orders” lol. He probably has the emails and texts to prove it. The fact that he is still there at KP without one word of any inquiry being raised is ,to me anyway, proof positive that the family was involved. I’m guessing he’s trying to negotiate the biggest “ keep your mouth shut” settlement that he can.

  24. kelleybelle says:

“At some point,” right. We all know Katie is a known, proven liar, right? And Vanity Fair is about as trustworthy as The Daily Fail now. Only damage control, sorry. Lamesauce.

  25. Carol says:

“Kate brought flowers to Meghan at some point:” How on Earth does a TOP CEO WHO WORKS CONSTANTLY have the time to hand deliver flowers????

“One senior source insists that senior members of the royal family as well as high ranking courtiers went “above and beyond to make things work for [the Sussexes].” Take out the word WORK and insert WORSE and you have the TRUTH.

  26. Merricat says:

Perhaps she brought flowers to Meghan because that’s what her husband gives to her after screwing her over. Traditional Cambridge gift for the occasion.

  27. Marivic says:

I thought the Royal Family follows their “never complain never explain” rule. What happened? They are all over the internet defending their innocence. Do as I say not as I do is more like it.

Kate and William (and their courtiers) are raw and vulnerable. The world now sees that they have been exposed for their brutality and meanness towards members of their family. The book only further proved that Kate and William are the masterminds of the Sussex exodus from the Royal Family and the U.K.

  28. Lyn says:

If this is true damn right flowers were mot enough, Kate watched and nothing while stories were made up with her centered and used to vilify Meghan. It wasnt just one story either it was multiple, and KP said nothing to clarify.

And she brings flowers? I hope Meghan showed her the door afterwards. Ppl like that you do not keep around you or forgive. All it would take is one encounter for Meghan with Kate and she will be plastered all over the papers and vilified for being mean to poor Kate.

Meghan needs to keep her distance from Kate, she’s not to be trusted.

  29. greenmonster says:

But did she use the rest of the flowers to cook the vegan meal?

  30. Argus says:

Speaking of flowers and Meghan, I went to a London garden centre yesterday to pick out a flowering climber for the trellis on my front door archway and was surprised to learn that the one I eventually picked out was named after Duchess Meghan. It’s called Clematis Meghan and is a very rich deep purple. There was also a Clematis Princess Kate which was kind of dull and white.

    • Prairiegirl says:

Ha ha! That’s hilarious and perfect shade right there!

      • Argus says:

Lol I thought so too. I also found it shady that they named 2 flowering ‘climbers’ after women who married into the royal family. The RHS can be quite bitchy that way.

    • Nancy says:

Actually the Clematis Princess Kate has a deep purple exterior and deep inside the white petals is a lovely purple too (I saw it at the Chelsea Garden show one year!). They are both quite beautiful flowers.

  31. Charfromdarock says:

Flowers totally negate racist press attack don’t ya know.

  32. Vanessa says:

I remember well the royal reporters and the Cambridge’s stans would come on here saying how the Sussex’s should just deal with the smearing and racism campaign. Because the royal never ever explain anything because If they responded to one story they would have to respond to them all . And when people would call that Bs and show evidence of the Cambridge’s going out their way to deny rumors such as hair weave and Botox but allowed rumors about Megan making kate Cry continually. There still trying to make the crying story into Meghan fault Kensington Palace and the Cambridge’s know their guilt of using the press to smeared harass Racially bully Meghan all In the hopes of destroying Harry and Meghan marriage. The Cambridge’s thought only the courtiers would be blame for the treatment of Meghan but their being dragged into and the royal family is not looking so good . Everyone knows that Kate from vanity fair is a true Middleton’s groupie she hang out with them she knows them so course she going to spin what ever they tell her too .

  33. Lizzie says:

This smells just like the ‘vegan dinner’ , aka made up yesterday.

  34. TheOriginalMia says:

Flowers would not be enough after everything Kate and her family put Meghan through hell before the marriage and after the marriage. Like an abuser bringing her victim flowers after beating the crap out of them the previous night. It’s not enough. It doesn’t make up for the words and actions that showed their true character. Bravo, Meghan for not falling for that bs gesture.

  35. MsIam says:

I too believe the flowers story (and the vegan dinner story) is a lie because these people put everything on blast, especially anything that would make the Cambridge’s look good. We would have heard about this months or even years ago. Plus Katie Nichols makes stuff up out of thin air, it’s a wonder that Vanity Fair even allows her name to be associated with them. Must be a shortage of writers or something.

    • February-Pisces says:

Kate has never carried out an act of kindness with out publicising it or a having a photographer there to take a picture.

      • Ginger says:

Exactly. Them delivering pasta during the pandemic was a photo op for Charlottes birthday. We would have heard about this the moment it happened and how wonderful and amazing Kate is.

    • A says:

The flowers and the vegan dinner story, to me, rings the same sort of tone as the one struck in the Tatler article about Kate, where the one person was talking about how Kate has to do what top CEOs do but doesn’t get the benefit of holidays, and how Meghan and Harry leaving means she can’t do the morning school run anymore.

It’s like the small minded, petty complaining, about how Kate just does SO MUCH and how no one sees all the work she’s doing for everyone. She’s trying SO HARD the poor dear, to be nice, by sending flowers, by cooking a vegan dinner, she even invited Kate to AMNER HALL, the inner sanctum, and Meghan is just so bloody thankless and ungrateful about all the sacrifices Kate has made to be nice to her.

My pet theory–I think that whoever spoke to the Tatler and gave those quotes was the same person furiously talking to the Fail about vegan dinners and red carpets. That’s just me though.

  36. DeeDee says:

Despite all the mud slinging vitriol, I truly believe there was one big (possibly racist) incident that was THE final straw for H & M. H called his brother on it & the result was blatant petulance & further mud slinging. This story will come to light but through back channels where legal can’t trace a source. Hence flowers do not excuse any behaviour simply to perpetuate the ongoing cycle of emotional & mental abuse. This abuse. Plain & simple.

    • TheOriginalMia says:

Yep! My theory all along has been one of the kids overhead something said about Meghan and repeated it to Harry. Kids are innocent little babblers. I revealed to a woman I’d met her husband’s mistress. Had not a clue what I was saying, but you could hear a pin drop in the room. Complete and utter silence. The truth is going to come out.

    • A says:

I don’t think it was one big incident actually. I think it was a number of incidences, small ones, snide ones, which were not overtly obvious to anyone else but Harry. And they kept building up and building up, until Harry confronted his brother, and William dropped the biggest bombshell.

  37. Jay says:

I think it’s very possible both the vegan dinner and flowers are real, but once again, these gestures don’t make up for outright racism and dismissal of Meghan due to her race, nationality, and profession. Unless these were flowers Kate picked especially for Meghan, ones she knew would be special and personal, then it just seems like the most basic move, like, old sitcom where the doofus husband doesn’t understand what he did wrong, but picks up a sad bouquet on his way home to placate the little woman. Maybe this is more of a window into how Kate thinks about relationships.

By the way, I certainly don’t think it’s on Kate to “patch up” the rift likely created by William, or to suddenly become best friends with her sister in law, but even if we consider them more like colleagues, this is shoddy behaviour.

  38. AMM says:

So isn’t saying that she tried to rectify the situation and bring a peace offering admitting that she did something wrong? I’m surprised they would admit that.

  39. candy says:

Harry is his mother’s son. I watched his wedding again last night (just the ceremony, girl’s gotta sleep lol) and I felt so sad for him that she wasn’t there.

  40. Mariane says:

They didnt waste time to sent out their loyal gossip writers to do damage control. This explains why Katie has been doing free interviews with ET and other American networks to get intrest & credibility as the ‘go to’ royal gossiper. I hope no one clicks or engages with her articles

I cant wait to read the book. I think alot has bee left for the release so tabloids cant twist it. I think omid will discuss the rift and nudge to the financial problems that the Sussexs had with keenbridges. I agree with Kaiser, its unlikely we’ll get anything relating to the lawsuits or the cambridges staff leaking as that’s also pending a legal action.

  41. BnLurkN4eva says:

@Jay. I don’t think anyone expected or asked for Kate to patch up anything, you are correct, that’s not her job, or responsibility. What sensible people who’ve been paying attention to this whole drama unfold expected from Kate, is for her to not be a vicious mean girl who deliberately and continuously used the press bulling against Meghan to make herself appear better. All those repeat wears just when newly minted Duchess Meghan was starting and couldn’t help buying new duchess garments could be overlooked if it didn’t happen so frequently when in the past Kate’s repeats were years between repeats. Suddenly almost every outfit was a repeat over the period Meghan was being slaughtered. That could have been excused as her trying to avoid similar criticism if not for the budget flights while Harry and Meghan were being criticized for flying private. Suddenly two people who manages to sneak around without notice were video taped catching commercial flights. Who does this to their sister in law and brother? Kate didn’t have to like or even pretend to be friends with Meghan, but arranging things so that she benefited from her sister in laws smearing cannot be excused and Kate doesn’t get a pass for that. Staying silent when obviously vicious lies about the two circulate because the lie makes you appear the victim was a vicious thing to do. Kate and William will no doubt weather this and come up roses – pun, but history will not be kind to either of them. I just hope the CW is paying attention to all this and will remember who these people are when it’s time to choose a head of the CW from their generation.

  42. CrazyHeCallsMe says:

At some point, the truth will come out. Probably in drips here and there but the truth will eventually see the daylight. One can only imagine the racist, petty behavior H&M had to endure. And Meghan was so right to tell Kate to kick rocks with the flowers. FFQ basically admitted that she was complicit in the smear campaign with the flowers.

  43. betsyh says:

I’d be much more interested in a book about the courtiers and what they do. Is there some veil of secrecy about who they are? They are always described as a group. I want to know about the individual players, what their jobs are, how they work with the royal family, and how they control their media coverage. They appear to hold the real power.

  44. Elizabeth says:

Can you imagine the number of exposés that will be written about Meghan and Harry’s treatment? This is just the first! Have fun for the next twenty years, British tabloids and Windsors.

  45. yinyang says:

Holy, Kate’s team need to give it a rest, focus on your charities. I could see why all her charities are going under, which good cause wants to be associated with all this drama, especially at the expense of a poor woman, no thank you not charitable spirit at all. Maybe people stopped donating in hopes to nip all this negativity.

  46. theotherViv says:

I have been trying to take a BRF break and not click on these stories but hey- the moment we will -very likely- be going back into lockdown over here in Europe, I will be reading this and Mariah‘s book, so keep them coming.

  47. February-Pisces says:

I hope omid book is a huge success and I mean HUGE. I hope he makes millions from it whilst the rest of the RRs are counting their small change in their pockets. I’m hoping it will spur on the rest of the worlds media to tell meghans side. Clearly there’s an appetite for their side of the story given how well the pre-orders have sold. I’m surprised it taken the worlds media this long to catch on. If they want to make coin get the Sussex’s on side. I saw a clip with one American tv reporter who spent 3 years working on the Andrew/Epstein story only to have the palace threaten them with ‘we’ll take away your access to the Cainbridges”. Who the f*ck cares about getting access to them, when have they ever been on American TV? Say f*ck your access, the real coin is with the Sussex’s.

  48. JustMe says:

And the Evil Kween brought a poisoned apple to Snow White!
Was there a wasp in the bouquet, per chance?

  49. A says:

“The book has definitely caused a degree of panic at the palace because a lot of courtiers know the true story and the truth is it doesn’t reflect well on anyone.” Ooooh. They said this over at the other post about the 1 year review as well. I’m just gonna say a big old YIKES and leave it at that.

Also, Kate, sweetie…I know your mommy reads the mean comments for you on all the internet sites cuz you don’t want to, but I need you to know, the way you’re trying to make yourself look good isn’t working. Flowers? Vegan dinners? Indignant hem-hawing about rolling out red carpets? This is worse than the Top CEO sh-t you put out on the Tatler. Whoever is speaking for you needs to get fired ASAP. That person is just not doing you any favours whatsoever.
