Jessica Mulroney complains of the ‘bullying & hatred’ she’s ‘put up with for three years’

Jessica Mulroney arrives at Good Morning America

On August 27th, Jessica Mulroney posted a photo from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding. Jessica was there as some kind of pseudo-bridesmaid/matron of honor and Jessica’s kids were part of the wedding party. The IG Jessica posted was of her son making an open-mouth surprised face as he stood behind Meghan in her veil. It was cute. Hours after Jessica posted it, she made her Instagram private and left it at that. I assumed that Jessica was sending a signal that she’s still in contact with Meghan and that they’re fine with each other, despite Jessica’s racist bullsh-t against Sasha Exeter. And just for the record, what Jessica did to Sasha was harassment, it was racist and it was completely and totally inappropriate. But, please, allow Jessica to explain why she deletes Instagrams and is constantly changing her Instagram from public to private and back again:

Jessica Mulroney finally explained why she made her Instagram account private and regularly deletes posts, as with the most recent image she shared of Meghan Markle with one of Mulroney’s sons. The celebrity stylist wrote on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, “People often ask why I delete certain posts. The amount of bullying and hatred I’ve had to put up with for 3 years….I’m tired of looking at it. Be kind. Be gracious. We are grown ups…stop acting like teenagers. Real women don’t put down other women.”

Mulroney has had a tough time on the social media platform since making her Instagram comeback in early August following a two-month hiatus. She took the break after Canadian lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter posted a lengthy video calling her out for “textbook white privilege” on Instagram in June. The altercation caused both ABC and CTV to sever ties with the stylist as well.

Since then, the former TV presenter has largely stuck to sharing photos of her twin sons on Instagram, but at the end of August she posted one of her son smiling behind Markle as she walked down the aisle at her wedding to Prince Harry with the caption, “I see this and pure joy.”

[From Vanity Fair]

I’m sure there are any number of comments left on Jessica’s IG which are hateful, racist, nasty and bullying. I also feel like Jessica is REALLY not the face of a social media “bullying victim” since she literally tried to destroy an Instagram influencer’s entire career and livelihood because the influencer (Exeter) was merely posting about Black Lives Matter. Jessica was hateful and racist AF towards Sasha Exeter, and now she wants to cry her white woman tears about how people are “acting like teenagers”? She’s 40 years old, right? Why is all of HER drama on social media? Also: it’s really not that f–king hard to turn off the comments. It’s really not that f–king hard to stop attacking people’s livelihoods because they said something that triggered your white fragility.

    I can’t stand her.

  4. Sofia says:

Look yeah, I’m sure she’s seen some nasty comments on not just herself but about Meghan too. And I’d feel sorry for her IF she didn’t do what she did to Sasha. She can’t complain about bullying but then go bully someone else.

    • lucy2 says:

      This exactly.

    • Becks1 says:

Agreed. I started following her on IG…..maybe in 2019? it was after the wedding. and she DOES get some really horrendous comments, both about herself and about Meghan. And the comments WERE bullying. And I think its okay to say that without feeling like I’m defending Jessica – because two things can be true, she was the victim of bullying AND she was a racist bully towards Sasha Exeter (and probably others.) If anything, I think the latter makes the former worse, because she knows what it feels like to be on the receiving end of the hateful comments and it didn’t stop her from being hateful towards someone else.

      • Nic919 says:

She would have been in a better position to complain about the bullying comments had she not done the exact same thing to Sasha Exeter. She needs to apologize way more for that than she has and she’s not showing much remorse. Until that happens she needs to go away from social media. This is all about her ego and she is too stupid to see that.

      • Otaku fairy says:

        Good point.

      • Sofia says:

@Becks and @Nic: You both said it better than I ever could. I do feel bad for some of the comments she gets because some of the time, she only gets them because of Meghan and she’s not the only one. No-one really deserves to be bombarded with hate comments just cause you’re friends with someone who you hate.

But she can’t make statements like these yet go around bullying other women. It’s hypocritical.

      • Soupie says:

Actually what Jessica did to Sasha Exeter was far worse than simple bullying. She threatened Sasha’s livelihood and connections. I am a fan of Meghan but I do side eye some of her friendship choices, this one in particular.

As for her clothes, Meghan wouldn’t be caught dead in 90% of what Jessica wears. Although as I said below, I think Jessica’s clothing choices are an attention getting ploy.

    • LaraK says:

The Sasha Exeter thing was so bizarre! Yes racist AF, but also out of left field. Sasha didn’t call out Jessica to anything. Jessica just went off the rails.
      Unprovoked attacks are textbook bullying.

  5. Snap Happy says:

She should have stayed of Instagram longer. I saw her make a comment about someone she considered a, “true activist.” I took it as implying Exeter wasn’t a true one. She hasn’t learned anything.

    • Redgrl says:

She’s an entitled, spoiled cow and she needs to shut up. Never understood Meghan being friends with such a trash person.

      • Char says:

@Redgrl Cows are incredible animals who don’t deserve to be compared to bullies, racists and privileged people who are unable to own their actions and apologize.

      • Leigh_S says:

LOL Char, as a cow owner I’m more inclined to agree with the previous statement.
OMG the yelling of opinions if we don’t make with breakfast/dinner fast enough??? The foot stomping and head tossing to hurry the F up? Absolutely entitled divas

      • Florencia says:

@char Amen, using animals as slurs has got to end, cows are gentle, loving beings and are nothing like this racist turd!

      • Elizabeth says:

I grew up on cow farms and they’re not entitled for wanting breakfast. Jessica is entitled for trying to use white privilege to bully and shame and harass a Black woman who was doing nothing to her.

  6. STRIPE says:

“Real women don’t put down other women”

    The irony.

    • Lyli says:

      Right??? Wow.

    • Rosalee says:

Perfect comment to illustrate certain women of a certain privilege do not view us as women, in their eyes we are either the help, the loud angry activists or welfare queens but never equals. Our lives as women are reduced to stereotypes..

    • Otaku fairy says:

Such a vague, meaningless, hypocritical statement from her, considering her behavior. Jessica’s instant reaction to the problem Sasha was discussing was, “How can I use my power to punish her?”

      • LaraK says:

Did Sasha actually call out Jessica in any way? I never understood what she was punishing her for. Not that there is anything to justify this, but I mean is was so random! Like she was just waiting for a chance to unleash.

    • Sarah says:

That was the bit that gave me a ‘wait, WHAT?’ moment. Wow she is entitled and clueless.

  7. Marjorie says:

We don’t really need to read about her, just look at Kaiser’s selection of photos of the stylish and and classically chic ensembles she wears.

  8. Louise177 says:

“Be kind. Be gracious. We are grown ups…stop acting like teenagers. Real women don’t put down other women.” Seriously? She of all people has the gall to say this?

  9. ennie says:

I think she does not deserve hatred for being friends with someone. For what she does individually, maybe, but some people are crazy and will attack anything Meghan-adjacent. That is not correct.

  10. Bettyrose says:

Don’t know much about her and have to ask, is this her first ever brush with adversity of any kind? i.e. Is she a fragile thing with minimal skills at coping?

    • Nic919 says:

I think the rumblings about her in the canadian entertainment circles were always low key and she was never challenged on it. So it probably is the first time she’s been called on her shit. And it was pretty indefensible to bully Sasha the way she did, which she doesn’t seem to understand at all.

      • Sorella says:

Plus Canada’s “famous” are few and far between AND she was part of the Toronto elite, the ladies who lunch and part of the whole Toronto social scene. There’s really no place for her to go in Canada. Toronto hosts are already losing jobs due to changes in TV, so many are already clamoring and competing for the very few jobs there are and she blew up her chance to be on her own show, not likely to happen again. It’s a small country for someone in entertainment and she won’t likely make it back ever. Every story about her now will start with the Sasha story and her friendship with Megan and that is it for her. She should stay private now and accept it.

Plus the Mulroney family is not the most beloved in Canada anyway – and she just added another layer of dislike and attention to them (oh to be a fly on the wall in that family when she is not around lol).

    • Charfromdarock says:

I think you hit the nail on the head.

She comes from a very privileged, very rich family and married into another one.

She’s been protected by wealth, power and whiteness her whole life.

  11. MaryContrary says:

My eyes are permanently rolled back into my head.

    • KW says:

I’ve been sitting here shaking my head vigorously back and forth because my eyes rolled so far back, I’ve lost them in the back of my head. What’s that? Women don’t do that to other women? Now Jess has full blown amnesia. Give this fainter a pillow.

  12. Mar says:

    She seems totally nauseating

  13. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

People like her make me put on some Marilyn Manson.

  14. Merricat says:

Tone-deafness is an inherent quality of entitlement.

  15. Liz version 700 says:

Sometimes… it is ok to not talk. Often, it is even suggested to just be quiet.

  16. Tiffany says:

    *stares…..stares….stares….stares*

This doesn’t even warrant a blink.

  17. S808 says:

I feel bad for her in the way I feel bad for charities, the speaking agency and the CEO of the *19th for being harassed and abused for their connection to Meghan. But other than that, I got nothing for you sis.

    • BnLurkN4eva says:

I agree, she was abused and harassed because of her association with Meghan and that’s not fair. Having said that, I hate what she did Sasha and she should have the self awareness to realize that she needs to stay dark for awhile longer before she can make any kind of response. I don’t know why it’s so difficult for some people to stand down for a bit, especially when they are not financially needy. Unlike others, she is not struggling to survive without a public forum so she can afford to go dark for a bit, why doesn’t she? I think she can work on improving herself and repairing her relationship with Sasha and go from there.

  18. Nanny to the Rescue says:

Beh, she’s racist trash with no style, but I have an issue with this comment (and this comment only):

“Also: it’s really not that f–king hard to turn off the comments.”

While this is kind of true, it’s also a common line told to victims of online bullying (kids, too).

  19. LittlePenguin says:

You don’t get to try and change your narrative Jessica. Perhaps you should have been leading by example?
(I still do wonder if there were people who she bullied who didn’t come forward in the past. And that maybe Ms Exeter was the brave one who thought ‘she has to stop!’)

  20. Maevo says:

“Real women don’t put other women down” !!! wow how oblivious and un-self aware can you be?? She should have stayed off IG longer.

  21. LRob says:

I will give Jessica more time.

Professionally I have admired her work ethic and ambition and enjoyed what she and Ben share about their family. I also appreciate the friend and safe haven she has been for Harry and Meghan.

She is fully accountable for any racist abuse toward Exeter or anyone else, and as yet does not seem to understand how to address that part of herself. I hope she learns.

  22. Flying Fish says:

This woman needs to go away and stay away.

  23. Jaded says:

You can’t have it both ways sweetie – stop your maudlin self-pitying about being bullied because you ARE a bully. It’s called being a hypocrite.

  24. Ariel says:

Every time she says something publicly, she makes her already crap reputation worse.
Racist, insulated white fragility, bully, faux victim.
None of that is a good look.
She needs to go away publicly.
Go do charity work, put something good in the world that isn’t 98% self-centered and self-aggrandizing.
She brought the bad pr on herself 100%, and even doubled down on it.
And it never occurred to her that it would go badly.

  25. candy says:

She must have whiplash from all her drama. It’s always the people who are dramatic on SM who say they’re “taking a break” or delete and reopen their accounts.

  26. MsIam says:

I thought she hired some crisis management/PR firm to help rehabilitate her image? If she’s making comments like this then she’s either not listening to them or they are giving her really bad advice because this sounds completely tone deaf AND clueless. I wonder if she knows what the word “irony” means?

  27. Sorella says:

First the Megan wedding picture and now this stupid IG post – the bully is being bulllied. OH ok sure – that is the strategy? Such stupid moves for her “come-back” I wonder if those advising her are cringing too, I thought she hired some big crisis management team – they clearly have no control of her. And the Mulroney family name AGAIN is in the news related to her, they must hate it. I think the more she talks, the more cringes are happening in any room she or her husband enters now. SHE cracked open their privilege and it was not pretty.

    • Anne Call says:

Assuming she put up the IG post from the wedding to remind us all of her connections and that alone just seems really tacky. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone from M&H staff told her to take it down. Surprised if these two are even friends anymore.

  28. deader than new metal and disco says:

I have zero patience for celebrities and rich people who complain about being bullied on social media. Just disable comments or delete your account. You don’t have to be on social media. I don’t have an account on any social media site and my life is better for it, and I ain’t even rich.

When people like this complain about bullies and cancel culture or whatever, what it means is that they what a 100% adoration rate and that ain’t gonna happen to anyone ever. Unless you’re Betty White.

  29. Marni112 says:

I find her obnoxious and as a person who lives in the same city , can’t see how anyone thinks she is important. That she is a stylist was also of bafflement to me.The one thing though that always bothered me and made me really wonder about her was how she had no qualms whatsoever parading her children on Instagram .From my perspective, there was and is nothing much she would not do to self -promote.

  30. Mariane says:

I don’t understand this post. Let me make myself clear, I find Jessica to be a phoney who built her whole career on her connections and
not merit but people are making her out as if she saught out sasha when it was instigated by sasha who was demanding she acts in a certain way(and still no mention on sasha not posting about BLM then whilst making demands on Jessica). Also, didnt Jessica lose her jobS over this(irony/karma). Is she forever tainted even with her charity work she’s been doing(I get that its PR). This is relevant to the cancel culture debates. I felt that Kevin hart & others got a pass on their bigotry and homophobia but others get more severe treatment. What criteria do we use to choose who deserves a second chance and who doesmt???I went and checked her account, there are alot of nasty comments especially on her last Twitter posts.

    • BnLurkN4eva says:

I think she need to go dark for awhile and do whatever work she needs to do to understand her privilege in the situation with Sasha. I don’t give Sasha a pass either because I noticed that she didn’t push back on the hate on her site towards Meghan. You come out against being bullied and stay silent while another woman is being attacked, not acceptable. There are people who will give some like Kevin Hart a pass, but not everyone and I think in his case those who won’t give him a pass were never fans of his to begin with so the consequences are negligible.

    • Krista says:

Sasha did not seek her out or demand anything of her specifically. She posted about bloggers/Instagramers that have a lot of followers not saying anything about BLM. Jessica took it personally and went angry Karen on her. It was very bizarre.

As for Sasha posting about BLM, she did, on her stories.

  33. Tourmaline says:

The selected photos really emphasize her impeccable style cred! 🤣
She looks less well put together (despite her frantic efforts) than the puffer jacket, flat cap dude (bodyguard?) behind her in all the pictures…

  34. Meg says:

I’m sorry she’s a stylist? Her style is really…not great

  35. Soupie says:

@Meg It occurs to me that her style choices clothing wise are an attention-getting ploy.

But the 1st thing I thought was I felt sorry for her and her need to have all that plastic surgery and wear all that makeup. It just makes her look like a clown.

  36. Nelly says:

But she’s right though. We all know anything (and anyone) attached to Meghan triggers the troll brigade. And why should she have to disable the comments? So the bullies realize they won? I get the practicality of it but it irks my soul when I see anything Meghan-adjacent do that, either preemptively or consequently. These trolls and bullies are getting out of hand, even charities are not spared, what more of people with less than perfect records?

  37. Lwt00 says:

Jesus. She’s so overly bronzed she looks like a Charlotte Tilbury ad.

  38. My3cents says:

I guess money can’t buy you self awareness or style.

  39. Florencia says:

Her face is starting to look like an inflatable raft, honey put the fillers DOWN!

  40. TorontoBeach says:

I think it’s gross Jessica Mulroney is using her kids to worm her way back on social media. Besides having no fashion sense ( sorry but tight, low cut outfits just look cheap and do not translate to fashion or style )she’s also been outed as a racist. Best to stay quiet for a while.
