Donald Trump is trying to ‘get back’ at Democrats for saying he’s a Russian asset

Trump meets with US Tech Workers and signs an Executive Order on Hiring American

Tomorrow will mark the two-week anniversary of the election being called for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Two weeks ago today, we already knew the trend lines and a majority of the votes had been counted in all the swing states, so it was completely clear that Biden-Harris had won the election even when we were talking on Thursday, November 5th and Friday, November 6th. Still, we were good and we waited for everything to become official and all of Steve Kornackis and John Kings to really say it. And it was such a relief!

Everything that’s happened around the Republican Party since then has been an absolute ratf–king catastrophe. Donald Trump, arguably the dumbest man on earth, has been committing election fraud in plain view, all while he hides away, Grey Gardens-style, in the White House bunker. He rage-tweets delusional sh-t all day and everything just feels like the biggest, weakest crybaby loser tantrum of all time. Masculine, Trump is not. But none of this would be happening if the Republican Party hadn’t allowed it for the past two weeks. They said nothing as he barked delusions on Election Night. Mitch McConnell laughingly mocked Democrats and said it was Trump’s right to try to sue and fraud his way into a second term. And now here we are.

Rudy Giuliani’s hair-melting press conference was apparently the last straw for a lot of people. The NY Times and Washington Post have similar analysis pieces today: “Trump’s Attempts to Overturn the Election Are Unparalleled in U.S. History” and “Trump uses power of presidency to try to overturn the election and stay in office.” It’s all true and everyone should be alarmed. Including Republicans.

Meanwhile, Trump has been telling people (from the baby bunker, one would assume) that this is all payback for Democrats… being concerned that he’s a Russian asset. Which he is.

President Donald Trump told an ally that he knows he lost, but that he is delaying the transition process and is aggressively trying to sow doubt about the election results in order to get back at Democrats for questioning the legitimacy of his own election in 2016, especially with the Russia investigation, a source familiar with the President’s thinking told CNN on Thursday.

The President’s refusal to concede, as CNN has previously reported, stems in part from his perceived grievance that Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama undermined his own presidency by saying Russia interfered in the 2016 election and could have impacted the outcome, people around him have said. Trump continues to hold a grudge against those who he claims undercut his election by pointing to Russian interference efforts, and he has suggested it is fair game to not recognize Joe Biden as the President-elect, even though Clinton conceded on election night in 2016 and the Trump transition was able to begin immediately.

Trump has heard from a multitude of friends and business associates who have been urging him to at least let the transition begin, even if he doesn’t want to concede, another source who is also familiar with the President’s thinking told CNN. His answer: No. You’re wrong. “Absolutely wrong,” according to one source.

When Trump has been told to get Rudy Giuliani and other members of his legal team off the case, the President has disagreed. He wants to continue the fight, and people close to the President have even expressed concern that he is buying into Giuliani’s false claims that his legal efforts can change the election’s outcome. He has shown no signs of backing down, even as those around him continue indicating that the end is near. Those allies have expressed worry that a sizable faction of the country thinks the election was stolen from Trump and that Biden isn’t receiving national security briefings.

Trump is listening to his friends, this source said, but hurriedly ends conversations because he disagrees. He doesn’t want to hear what he doesn’t believe. Inside the White House, it seems as if many people have decided to let this play out, either because they want to or because they have no choice. Son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner is playing it cool, this source said, while daughter Ivanka Trump has pretty much removed herself from this, as CNN reported last week.

This is terrifying. All of it. Remember when one of the Trump kids told the story about their grandfather having dementia and still wanting to go into work, so they just let him sit in the office with a stack of papers? That’s what the Republicans are doing with Donald Trump right now, only he’s doing crimes and he’s supposed to be RUNNING THE COUNTRY. He is not mentally “there” and all he does is sit around and pout and spin his delusional crap and… no one f–king stops him. Dart him, net him and drag his ass out of there.

I hate Mitch more than I hate Trump. If 2020 would take him then this year will end on a high.

The cherry on the top will be the Democratic Kentucky Governor will then appoint Amy in Mitch’s seat.

If not, the new AG will be extremely busy arresting over 30 Republican Senators next year. Either way, Democrats better punish them for the illegal crimes they have and are committing.

    • ThatsNotOkay says:

All these crimes must be prosecuted or I’m going to commit every crime known to man and demand I get the DJT/Republican senator/Lindsay Lohan treatment of never having to pay for them.

There’s an old satire on the onion about a gorilla who talks about how grateful he is for having been hit with a trank dart. That’s what this balrog, this troll, this orc of a person needs. Shoot him with a tranquilizer dart, then cart his decrepit old ass off to the funny farm and commit him. We can all lead him out with a song: He can sing “they’re coming to take me away” and we can all join in on the “ha ha hee ho ho ” part.

    One can only dream…

    • Lexilla says:

But there are MILLIONS of people who will follow him wherever he goes, even if it’s right off a cliff. That’s the hardest part, and that’s what we’ll still have to contend with for years to come.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Yeah the fire he’s ignited with burn for a few generations. His crotch goblins will only fuel it.

      • Noodle says:

@lexilla, with COVID intensifying, his lemmings following him off a cliff isn’t that difficult to imagine. Their blind delusion will result in death for so many of them.

    • Chill says:

Thank you for mentioning balrogs!! I love this.

  3. Seraphina says:

Correction: Take out the word Russian and drop the last two letters of ASSET.

  4. Digital Unicorn says:

Jarvanka are running for the hills because they have lost what control/influence they thought they had over him – they are creating distance for deniability of when he does something even more awful than he has.

Am convinced he’s going to pull a stunt on inauguration day to get back at Biden/the Dems and to take attention away from the real President. He won’t let that day go past without some stunt.

    • LightPurple says:

Where do you see that Nagini is running for any hill? She was NEVER the moderating influence she pretended to be for the public image marketing purposes. She never had any intention of harnessing him and she supports everything he does, no matter how horrible. She is always willing to send out screeching dog whistles to show support for his white supremacy, like the picture of her in a silver ball gown with Jared’s hand groping her ass as the news was filled with sobbing Muslim women in hijab at airports when Daddy’s Muslim ban went into effect or the Sunday morning sleepy baby & Mommy photo as news of the policy of stealing brown babies and tossing them in cages filled the airwaves. She just doesn’t weigh in loudly on the political stuff like her brothers but she is not giving up power willingly. She has been tweeting all week about how wonderful the Trump administration is, how they are going to save us from Covid with vaccines they created and she is single-handedly stopping human trafficking, cleaning the oceans, and taking credit for an international women’s business program Bush I created that she has been using as cover for her personal business trips and lavish vacations. She did have a brief break in the facade last night when she lashed out angrily and petulantly at the NY investigation into her tax fraud. Nagini thinks Daddy won.

      • Anne Call says:

Yeah, the coming war for control of the maga’s between Ivanka and Donald jr is going to be very entertaining. Even if neither runs for office, they’ll want to grift off his moronic base for decades to come.

    • Seraphina says:

I googled Nagini and very aptly named.

    • cassandra says:

Oh he’s definitely going to pull something, At bare minimum he’ll have a rally somewhere.

If you don’t want to be called a Russian asset, don’t BE a Russian asset. He is playing directly into Vlad’s hands here by putting us in more danger every single day.

I’m hoping that someday we, as a nation, can get “back at him” and Moscow Mitch (smug ahole, treasonous sh*tbag) for the damage they have caused domestically and globally. Because of these two “men,” we will never be the global power we once were. If it was so easy to turn half of this country MAGA, why would other nations EVER have faith in anything we do or say again? We’ve broken treaties, turned our backs on allies…attempted to weaken the UN…on and on.

Time will tell I suppose if that’s better for the world at large or not. But it is absolutely NOT better for us. Job well done traitorous bastards.

    • Esmom says:

Exactly. Every day he undermines us further. The Russians did play a big part in managing to convince a lot of people in 2016 that Trump was a viable choice. Now the chickens of decades of disinformation and anti-intellectualism are coming home to roost in the ugliest, messiest, most dangerous ways.

  6. sa says:

Just because Trump frames his issues as being with Democrats doesn’t mean we have to. The correct term is Americans. Trump is attacking Americans and America.

  7. Darla says:

Yesterday I just kind of bottomed out. I did pull myself together, but i had a mini-meltdown. I feel as if I have always lived in 2020. That I never lived under any other President. That I was always trapped alone because my family is MAGA and won’t wear masks, and I won’t do anything inside with friends. Now that summer is over it’s closing in on me. I feel like Trump will always be president and I will live in 2020 forevermore. It’s as if I’ve died and gone to hell.

I cheered myself up today by remembering I am alive, but eventually will die so this can’t last forever. One way or the other, I’m getting out of 2020.

    • Esmom says:

Oh, Darla, I’m right there with you. The thing that broke me was hearing that Republican officials from Michigan are going to meet with Trump. In any other timeline this would be a clear case of election interference. I felt like running down the street screaming at anyone who would listen. Meanwhile, so many people just carry on as if casually treasonous behavior from Republican officials and operatives is our new norm, no big deal.

    • TaraBest says:

Darla, I’m sorry to hear you had such a rough time yesterday. I can definitely identify with your feelings though. I’ve had some family members out themselves as MAGA this year and it’s been tough.

Just remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and as corny as the phrase my be, “this too shall pass.” I’m wishing you a better day today.

    • GuestWho says:

I have been where you are (I was there yesterday, in fact). BUT – the vaccine is looking like it will be ready for high-risk people by the end of December. BLOTUS will be removed. They are failing spectacularly – their lawsuits are 1-24 at this point. The Michigan votes have been certified. There’s no “backsies” no matter how much he bloviates. It will be a long couple of months until January 21st, but it IS coming.

This may be too personal, but not being able to see how things could be different or better is a big warning sign for clinical depression (years of personal experience). Take some vitamin D, stay hydrated (did you know dehydration can mimic depression? I didn’t for a long, long time), take a walk, maybe talk to a professional – and believe that the light at the end of the tunnel is no longer a train heading for our faces.

      • Darla says:

Thanks Guestwho, I have stopped walking the past week, you’re right, I’ll get back to it right away. That does help.

    • Christin says:

A saying I keep repeating to myself may help – “It’s always darkest before the dawn.”

We’re seeing glimmers of light amidst all the darkness. We made it this far, and we can do this!

    • BeanieBean says:

Oh, Darla, this really resonated with me. I don’t know what to say to help you, but your posts throughout these last several months have really helped me. Please take care of yourself.

      • Darla says:

That means a lot I don’t even realize people notice me here! And thank you Emm below too. I really didn’t mean for all of this I was just thinking aloud here, I’m so touched. I will take more care with my words here in the future, so I don’t hurt anyone unthinkingly. All of these posts are so thoughtful and wow. 🙂

    • Emm says:

@Darla I’m so so sorry and feel the same way as you and like someone said the breaking point for me was hearing about the Republicans from MI going to meet him at the WH today and then this morning reading an article with someone from TX talking about how if dump asked them to take up arms and go to war over this election they would in a second. I’m back to panic mode and about to turn my phone off so I can get out of it. My entire family, both sides, are magas and I found out just this week that four of them have covid right now, in all different parts of the country. I was actually surprised it took so long since they have all been living life like nothing has changed. I’m sure they will all recover and think nothing of it though, nothing will change their minds about this and at this point it’s pretty obvious nothing will for any MAGAts. I thought that I would feel at least some relief after the election but I still feel the same. I was just telling my husband last night it feels like we are trapped in this purgatory like you described and we are never getting out.

    • K-Peace says:

Darla, Please know that there is someone off in NH feeling exactly the same way as you. Reading your post, both comforted me (to know that there’s someone out there feeling as low as i am) and simultaneously made me feel sad that you feel so badly.

I feel so alone too. This whole horrible situation with Trump as president, has really caused a lot of problems with my husband & me. In fact, at times i feel myself loathing him. All because he is not “anti-Trump”, “anti-Republican”, “pro-Democrat” as much as i am. He’s not MAGA, but he doesn’t like Biden, and claims to hate Trump but at times has defended him. I hate Trump, and his awful family, and Mitch, etc., so much that it’s eating me up alive, and i want them to PAY for the evil things they have done.—I can’t decide if i’d prefer if they get thrown in prison or die. I’d take either but they’re probably both wishful thinking.

Sorry for babbling….I just want you to know you’re not alone in the way you feel. I know what it’s like to think of death as an actually comforting thought. But we WILL get through this. Sometimes the only way i can get through a time, or situation, is to think about how “someday ‘right now’ will be the past”. And all of US will have been “on the right side of history”. The MAGATs sure won’t be! Hang in there!

      • Darla says:

Thank you and I am so sorry for your troubles, especially with your husband. It’s part of the mystery of the human condition how we can feel alone even when we’re not. Sometimes more alone I guess. I hope things get better for you too.

We knew his narcissistic personality wouldn’t take loosing well. And it has played out exactly that way. He is mad at America for not loving him best, and is doing everything he can to punish the country. This includes doing nothing about the fact that we are knocking on the door of 200k cases a day and 2000 deaths per day. Every day he reminds us why he never deserved this job.

  9. Nic919 says:

NYS is doing criminal and civil investigations about consulting double dealing which includes Ivanka and that is awesome news. She’s already moaned on Twitter about it.

It’s really pathetic how they are placating this idiot. There are thousands who will needlessly die because of covid with the delays happening to the transition. The GOP needs to be dismantled. They are a part of this as much as the orange idiot.

  10. Kelly says:

A recent book, Putin’s People, https://www.amazon.com/Untitled-Camilla-Bartlett/dp/0374238715/ref=sr_1_1?crid=ALZ00T4LT6BT&dchild=1&keywords=putin%27s+people+by+catherine+belton&qid=1605900177&sprefix=putin%27s+p%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-1 is a great read, for both how Putin and his KGB cronies retook control of Russia. There’s also a short but important section at the end about Trump’s ties to Russia. The author very much uses the KGB to refer to both Putin and his cronies, as well as the current Russian intelligence agencies, the FSB and SVR, because in her view, it’s the KGB with new acronyms.

The author lays out both the Trump campaign and Trump Organization’s ties to Russian business and former Russian intelligence personnel. Her theory seems to be that multiple people within those two groups may be Russian assets. She doesn’t name individuals, likely because of libel laws in both the US and the UK, where she’s based. She seems to dismiss the theory that Trump himself is a Russian asset because even if he were an unwilling one due to blackmail and Russian loans, he’s too unpredictable and hard to control. We’ve seen how he’s responded to women coming out to expose him as a serial sexual predator. She doesn’t name names, but seems to lean towards either Ivanka or Don Jr. as possible assets, likely coerced through blackmail.

    Where’s the lie.

We all know that title was bought for him by Uncle Vladdy.

  12. Bread and Circuses says:

All he’s done since the election is golf and pout. That’s less destructive than I thought he’d be, which is a good thing.

Pity there’s no one at the top trying to do anything about the pandemic, of course, but they weren’t anyway.
