Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip received their coronavirus vaccines on Friday

queen philip anniversary

There was so much talk about Queen Elizabeth and the coronavirus vaccine late last year. Like, there were actual high-level palace and government discussions about whether or not it should be announced when the Queen got the vaccine, and supposedly, the Queen didn’t want to announce anything while the government was like “you gotta say something.” In the end, the government won the fight and now we know that QEII and Prince Philip got the first of two necessary coronavirus vaccine shots.

Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh have received their Covid-19 vaccinations, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said Saturday. The inoculations were administered by a household doctor at Windsor Castle, a royal source said.

To prevent inaccuracies and further speculation, Her Majesty, who 94, decided that she would let it be known that she has had the vaccination, the source added. Her husband is 99 years old.

[From CNN]

According to Rebecca English, the Queen made the decision to announce to prevent “inaccuracies and speculation” but as of just last week, the palace was still saying that they weren’t planning on announcing if and when she got it because, in the palace’s words, it’s a “private medical matter.” Which, again, is asinine when it comes to a global pandemic, the Queen’s position as head of state, and the rampant misinformation surrounding vaccines in general. My guess is still that Boris Johnson’s government forced the Queen into announcing it.

So now the Queen has an excuse to wander around maskless constantly, and she’s already making post-pandemic plans:

The Queen is determined to ‘get back to business’ and will return to London for Trooping the Colour in June, according to reports. The event, held in honour of the monarch’s 95th birthday, is expected to be a reunion of the Royal Family and the first major national celebration since the pandemic.

According to The Sunday Times, palace aides have stated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to attend the official event despite quitting as senior royals because it’s also a ‘family occasion’.

A senior royal aide told the publication: ‘The current plan is for the Queen’s birthday parade to go ahead in London as normal, with the acceptance that it may need to be adapted or scaled back depending on what guidelines are in force at the time. But the aspiration and the ultimate desire is to make it happen.’

This year’s military parade will take place on June 12, two days after Prince Philip’s 100th birthday and will be the Royal Family’s first public reunion since Megxit. A final decision on the scale of this year’s Trooping the Colour is expected to be made in the spring.

It is believed the Queen and senior members of the Firm are keen to give full honours to the Army, which has been drafted in to help deliver hundreds of thousands of coronavirus vaccines.

[From The Daily Mail]

It’s funny that Petty Betty is too incandescent with rage to allow Prince Harry’s wreath to be laid at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day because he’s “not a working royal,” but she expects him to show up for her birthday parade when she snaps her fingers. More and more, I hope that Harry and Meghan just refuse to be used by these deranged a–holes. I also wonder if the Queen is still sitting by the phone, waiting for Harry to call her to set up an appointment. LMAO.

I like her dress here, but I really hope that Meghan set every fugly dress she bought to fit protocol (and every stupid pair of panty hose) on fire the moment she left there.

    • Mignionette says:

I don’t see Meghan wearing any of her Royal Wardrobe in the freedom life. It would just give the Daily Shame something else to bish about.

Also I very much get the sense she wants nothing to do with that life spiritually or otherwise.

  2. Becks1 says:

Of course they want H&M at the Trooping. That way it gets international coverage in a way that I dont think it’s gotten in years. If they go, I hope Meghan says eff it and wears whatever the hell she wants. Halter dress! strapless! whatever! You do you Meg!

As for the vaccine – I’m sure that the Queen got it and probably got it sooner than they announced.

    • Amy Bee says:

It is not only ensures international coverage, it give the press what they want which is pictures of Harry and Meghan. As the Palace no longer speaks for Harry and Meghan, a royal source telling the press that they’re expected to be there is just setting them up for press attacks if they don’t show up. I hope they don’t attend.

      • Becks1 says:

Yup – now they’ve made it into a story that’s a win-win for the rota. If they show up, they get stories out of that. If they dont, more stories about H&M “disrespecting” the queen (since the rota like to pretend the global pandemic isnt happening.)

      • L84Tea says:

It’s interesting because I saw it being reported this past weekend that H&M WILL be there for certain. But I’m not holding my breath.

    • Mignionette says:

Very much doubt there will be a TOTC’s this year as that is when we’re projected to be coming out of lock-down.

The White Supremacy UK Media will have to tighten their belts for another year – LMFAO

  3. fluffy_bunny says:

I don’t think M&H will be there this year. Maybe because they don’t want to or maybe because the pandemic will still be raging but I don’t see them showing up.

    • Mac says:

I think it is extremely premature to be planning a June birthday bash. With the new variants, who knows what the world will look like six months from now.

    • Louise177 says:

I think they will be there since the Diana statue is around that time as well. Unless there are still strong travel restrictions but they won’t do anything else with the family.

      • Cecilia says:

That and they will be in europe regardless because of invictus which will be held in the Hague (if the pandemic will allow it) A flight from London to Amsterdam really doesn’t take that long and harry is not going to miss invictus.

    • Lori L says:

Exactly right. How can event this big be planned when the duration of the pandemic is unknown? I hope for Meghan’s sake that she has an infant by then and can get out of any “family obligations” by having a child too young to vaccinate. This looks like an entirely made up story for slow January.

  4. Noki says:

Is everyone really getting the same vaccine. Are the worlds elite, rich and powerful getting something else?

  5. TD says:

There’s no rage from QE2 against Harry.
The BRF is essentially a cult. And on that basis you’re in or out. Contracts were signed etc….it’s not as cold and angry as Kaiser pushes…Harry and Meghan are still family and will likely choose to attend 95th birthday of QE2. But it’s strictly a quick family visit.

    • Kalana says:

I think there is rage. The courtiers aren’t going rogue and the BRF is very aware of the virulence against the Sussexes in the British media. They have other people do their dirty work so they can pretend to be above the fray (The pretense of never complain, never explain).

There’s a Cambridge stan who used to pretend to be a pr expert just giving her professional opinion. She’s dropped that shtick and is now open about just wanting to trash the Sussexes. What I thought was interesting was she was so gleeful about the recent round of articles from the royals trashing their family members Harry and Meghan. The pretense of distance and not tying it to the royals using the press to lash out at Harry and Meghan is gone. The Windsors are now being openly trashy instead of spending the last year gaining any kind of perspective and it’s all openly acknowledged.

Their stans celebrate this because it was always about hating Meghan. That’s why their comments are about Archie being a doll etc. Everyone seems to have dropped the dogwhistles about protocol and are openly acknowledging the Windsors hated Meghan.

  6. (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

If she was REALLY concerned about setting the example, she’d’ve done it on TV to SHOW her “subjects” that it was safe to take. Or at the very least, a photo. But to “say” she’s done it? Eh… If I was an anti-vax, or anti-monarchist I’d not believe they took it.

As for H&M flying back? Uhm…there STILL IS A PANDEMIC RAGING! Even WITH vaccines, and that is assuming at least 70% of ALL populations in ALL countries take it, it will be Fall, at the *earliest* where things can start to resume the way they used to. Experts say that even through winter, we may still have to be using masks. So, sure Brenda… go ahead and plan a parade to celebrate YOU.

    • HDD says:

There are times warranted for private air travel to UK, especially if they bring Archie to his great grandmother’s 95th birthday party.
Trooping the colour is entirely a different kettle of fish. I couldn’t imagine H&M will show. Though I may be wrong if courtiers are pushing for serious reconciliation leading up to Diana statue unveiling planned for 1 July 2021. It’s all very complex. But at least H&M in finding freedom have the power to do as they please in protecting their family.

      • L84Tea says:

I’m willing to bet there are no reconciliations happening any time soon. I mean, why should he? Will is a conniving prick and did Harry SO DIRTY.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I don’t think they’d want to take Archie, even private, to expose him if the Pandemic is still in full swing, but that’s just my opinion (I know I wouldn’t want to fly anywhere, even private, until this is under control). No one knows what June will be like, but considering the how slowly this vaccine roll out is, and how many are refusing it, I don’t see “herd immunity” happening by June.

While Invictus is scheduled, again, if numbers continue to climb, it’s likely to get cancelled again, so that trip may be a moot point.

I think it’s the perfect excuse to just Zoom by.

    • Coco says:

I believe she received the vaccine weeks ago, so any photo op would just be an injection of saline. And I think she’s vain. She probably hasn’t shown her arms in public in over forty years, and a flabby, pasty, nonagenarian arm doesn’t really scream “anointed by God” to most modern people.

  7. BeanieBean says:

Even if the entire country is vaccinated by this June, it doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods yet. It would be irresponsible to have a regular Trooping this year.

    • fluffy_bunny says:

But Petty Betty wants a party.

      • Becks1 says:

I mean, she already had to have a small trooping this year, just her maskless self at Windsor, she DESERVES her big party!!!!!!!!!!!! Why wont anything think of poor Petty Betty?!?!?!

      • Kalana says:

Yup, and she was distanced but the members of the military who had to put on a show for her were the ones put in danger by being made to march about in each other’s breathstream. The Queen’s ego has been on full display this year.

  8. ABritGuest says:

Interesting that the govt/press clearly forced the palace to disclose they had been vaccinated because seems the royals really didn’t want to. My guess is they all had the vaccine for a while & that’s one reason they’ve been so cavalier.

If Betty wants her birthday bash to happen (let’s face it the royals want their big PR events to stay relevant& the rota are probably starving)- she needs to tell her PM to sort out his complete mishandling of this crisis. June seems premature with this new variant frankly.

I guess the body language experts will be out in force the first time the Sussexes come to one of these family events

  9. Amy Bee says:

It’s interesting that the Queen was citing privacy for her reluctance to disclose her COVID vaccination. The Queen is entitled to privacy but not Harry and Meghan.

I believe that the Queen forced Meghan to attend Trooping three weeks after she gave birth. And if she was forced to go, it further confirms Meghan’s court statement that she was left unprotected by the Palace because they allowed the press to attack her for not attending Trump’s state visit but going to Trooping a few days after. It’s probably why Harry looked pissed off on the carriage ride to the event.

I can’t see how the Queen can have the full Trooping when she has already cancelled her Garden parties because of COVID. I think there will be scaled back event like last year and Harry and Meghan won’t attend.

    • Becks1 says:

Right, so COVID vaccination = private medical matter, but the birth of the 7th in line is something the public has the right to know about as soon as it happens?? Please. We see you BRF and RRs.

  10. Cecilia says:

If the pandemic allows it then meghan and harry will be at trooping but i really hope that it will be a scaled back event much like 2020 and family members don’t have to attend

  11. Snazzy says:

Betty is such a selfish bi**h. Organising a parade to celebrate herself in the middle of a pandemic? I know it’s a yearly tradition but COME ON

  12. Implicit says:

That’s it she is a pig an absolute sow. Harry can’t lay a freakin wreath but he is supposed to go celebrate that b!tches birthday. Hold your breath lillibet! H & M Don’t you dare go. Everybody who has cut off toxic family, which is not easy – are depending on your example People who treat others the way toxic family treats each other don’t deserve to see them on holidays or ever really.

  13. steph says:

When was the Diana statue commissioned? Has Harry actually publicly stated he was a part of it?

I just find it odd bc Harry has publicly and explicitly cut ties with KP- where the statue will be unveiled and the RR which will definitely be in attendance.
The RR will be there for all of the events Harry will supposedly attend this year except maybe invictus.
I think the press is just running their mouths and it’s somewhat believable bc these are “family” events, not official Royal Engagements. Sure, he might show up in the UK, but I don’t think he’ll be doing any public appearances outside of Invictus.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I believe it’s in the KP garden, in “Diana’s favorite spot”.

One “bright” note: Incandescent PwBT can NOT ban Meghan from this one, like he did the one at Althorpe, saying she was “just a gf”. If there wasn’t a pandemic, I’d like her to go, in her FULL glory, for no other reason than for PwBT to have to bite his tongue for the pics!

      • steph says:

That would be fun. Then watching him pout for months after bc regardless of the nature of the coverage, it’ll still be all about h&m

  14. BnLurkN4eva says:

I truly hope Harry/Meghan/Archie doesn’t participate in this. I really just think they should keep whatever relationship continues between Harry and the family behind close doors like whatever support the family supposedly extended them. If Harry must show up, I hope Meghan and Archie aren’t required to be there.

    • Oh says:

That’s what they want. They want Harry to come alone to the UK without his wife and son. They love to remember the old days when he was a single. I hope Meghan will be always by his side and he never shows up alone

  15. KPS says:

I was really stressing when The Queen and Prince Philip were going to get their vaccines. Every day I ask , “what about the Royal family? What about the Queen and Prince? When will they get their vaccines?” I can sleep now knowing they are vaccinated.

  16. Sarah says:

I don’t see Trooping the Color happening because crowds will probably not be able to gather during that time due to the pandemic. If things get better then I can see it happening and if everything is going ok here in the states then yes I could see H&M showing up to support. Regardless of what’s going on, the Queen is Harry’s grandmother, highly doubt he’s not going to show her support. Anyone thinking otherwise is nuts.
