When Princess Eugenie moved out of Frogmore Cottage, she moved in with her dad?

Eugenie Jack wedding Windsor

There are so many historical royal mysteries and ongoing royal mysteries. Perhaps this would make a good podcast episode! But seriously, think about how many royal mysteries there are even today. For example, we still don’t know what the hell happened with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank staying at Frogmore Cottage. Reportedly, Eugenie and Prince Harry were in contact and Harry offered Frogmore Cottage – which is all paid up – to E&J for an extended sublet. Eugenie is expecting her first child, and it was thought that Frogmore Cottage would be a nice place for Eugenie and Jack to nest and be lowkey before the baby came. Six weeks after they moved in, they suddenly moved out. And no one knows why! It’s a royal mystery. I mean, I have some theories. My main theory is that William grew incandescent with rage at the thought of Harry & Meghan doing something nice for Eugenie, and the whole point of *all of this* was to have Frogmore sitting there, cold and unoccupied. But, again, I have no idea if my theory is correct. But one part of the mystery has been solved: Eugenie and Jack moved into the Royal Lodge after moving out of Frogmore.

Pregnant Princess Eugenie has moved out of Frogmore Cottage and in with her parents Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, a royal correspondent has claimed. Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie said Eugenie, 30, and her husband Jack Brooksbank, 34, moved into the Royal Lodge in Windsor before Christmas after spending just six weeks at Harry and Meghan’s former home.

In the latest episode of Scobie’s podcast The HeirPod, ABC News London correspondent Maggie Rulli, said: ‘We saw something in the news a few weeks ago about how Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank had moved into Frogmore Cottage.

‘Harry and Meghan had opened the doors to the home to the couple and then mysteriously there was a report that said they had moved out. And no one really knew exactly where they were.’

Scobie then explained the couple spent the Christmas holiday at the Royal Lodge, where Eugenie and sister Beatrice, 32, grew up.

‘So I imagine that’s probably where they will remain up until much later in the year,’ he added.

The tenth-in-line to the throne, who is due to give birth to her first child early this year, moved into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former UK home Frogmore Cottage late last year, but moved out within six weeks.

[From The Daily Mail]

Eugenie and Jack’s London residence is Ivy Cottage, one of the tiny little cottages which are part of the Kensington palace complex. Whenever they went to Windsor, they would stay at Royal Lodge, but to still be doing that when Eugenie is married and expecting a child? Surely she and Jack want their own space? So why was she *forced* to go back to living with her gross father in the giant Royal Lodge? I don’t know. Also: I’ve said this before, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Frogmore Cottage has a bad vibe. I don’t think Meghan and Harry were actually very comfortable there, and maybe there are ghosts, or noisy airplanes or something.

  1. Mignionette says:

I think they’re doing this to avoid the COVID lockdown rules when the baby is born.

I am also guessing they experienced some security breaches with RR’s who tried to get in or get drone shots of M&H’s place.

    • STRIPE says:

Oh that’s a really good point. They could very well be moving in with him so they can be in a bubble with her family.

Not that the royals have stuck to COVID restrictions but perhaps with the new baby coming Eugene is taking it more seriously.

      • Stephanie says:

I agree, I think this is exactly why they moved out so quickly and back home. If you were a first time parent in the middle of a pandemic you’d likely want to be able to see your family unrestricted for help. Personally if we had know covid would have lasted so long we would have done something similar when we found out we were expecting at the beginning of the year.

      • Becks1 says:

But then why wouldnt they have just moved to Royal Lodge in the first place? They moved out of Frogmore before the latest round of restrictions was in place in the UK, so I dont think that’s entirely it.

      • GraceB says:

I agree that it’s to avoid Covid restrictions. When they moved in, things looked reasonably positive in the UK. Maybe with the growing Covid cases, they predicted a new lockdown was coming and formed a bubble. Lots of people in the UK have moved in with their parents. We could all see the numbers rising and we all knew it was potentially on the cards. I’d bet when this is all over, they’ll be back at Frogmore.

    • Bibi says:

you read my mind. They prepared the house ready. She probably wants to have her mother close when she gives birth which would be absolutely understandable. The reason is so reasonnable that’s why we havent gotten leaks in the press because hey prefer us to presume their is some kind of problem with HM’s house, that the Queen petty-this-and-that. watch them get back in there once the baby is a few months old and they’ll need their own space because wtf, at the Lodge with the radiactive Andrew? can’t be.

    • John R. says:

What’s next? A trailer in a holiday caravan park?

  2. Rapunzel says:

Doesn’t Jack have some of that Casamigos money saved to buy a house?

Maybe Eugenie loved life at the Royal Lodge and wants that for her child?

Ooooo… tin foil hat theory: Andy is afraid Charles will find a way to strip him of the royal lodge after he takes power, so he asked Eugenie to live with him so he won’t do it.

    • Keen Kate says:

He was a brand ambassador, not an investor. He is unlikely to have received any of the sale money.

    • nicegirl says:

Rapunzel, I am into that tin foil hat theory of yours; you may be on to something there! Even if it’s not a ‘likely’ possibility. Hmmm

    • EllenOlenska says:

I had the same thought that it’s a strategy to hang onto the lodge…

  3. Noki says:

Why do these royal ADULTS have to behave like they are dependants, always needing assitant living. Cant Eugenies husband afford to rent a three bedroom house on the outskirts of london? They are all glorified benefit scroungers who wouldnt make it in the real world.

    • elfie says:

      Exactly. They’re just parasites.

    • Agree. Maybe, that’s why they ALL thought Harry and Meghan would fail and come crawling back. Because none of them can imagine getting off the royal or the public tit.

    • JT says:

This why I will never believe that Eugenie and Bea’s husbands are as wealthy as claimed. Why would E&J be shuffled between three homes in as many months if jack had the money to just buy a place? Beatrice’s husband is an alleged wealthy aristocrat and he’s moves into a tiny cottage with Bea on royal property. People say security reasons but: they should have the money considering how “wealthy” the husbands are (H&M pay for their own security), and I doubt that the threats against them are serious, if there are any. I think they are all rich people poor. Appearance of money on the outside, not a damn cent to their name on the inside. Hell, even Terribly Moderately James Matthews can afford to buy his own place for Pippa.

  4. Harla says:

Wow they’ve moved what 4 times in the last couple of months, can’t they afford their rent?

  5. Sofia says:

My guess is that Eugenie wanted to be close to her parents in Windsor but initially didn’t want to live in the same house (even if it’s huge and they could go weeks without seeing each other) so they went for Frogmore. But then for some reason (perhaps it had ghosts, too much press intrusion or whatever idk), her and Jack decided it would be better to live at the Royal Lodge instead

  6. Lunasf17 says:

Why are these wealthy, young people dependent on this toxic family?like others have mentioned why can’t they rent their own place with their own money? I don’t understand any of this!

    • Noki says:

I can only guess two reasons…
      1. Clearly its cheaper, they pay a fraction of real rates and the non working royals are not as liquid as people would think.
      2. Security: Living in a compound that also houses the Queen or Future Monarch is obviously going to be very secure.

      • Amy Bee says:

        Precisely.

      • Frogmore Cottage is within the royal Windsor Enclosure. I’m not buying ghosts, noise, whatever. The Sussexes did not voluntarily abandon Frogmore Cottage and I don’t believe there is anything wrong with it. All we see of it are file photos last taken at least a year ago from a distance with a zoom lens. I think sooner or later someone will leak what happened with Eugenie’s fast exodus and it will come down to someone in the royal family putting up such a stink about it they had to exit.

      • Carrie says:

The security issue? Meh. I think. Are they ie Beatrice and Eugenie really of much interest? Zara Tindal and Peter Phillips seem to be fine outside the confines of KP.

  7. Millenial says:

I really think the royals wanted to continue to punish Meghan and Harry — and I think the sublet arrangement was done without the Queen’s permission — so they made Eugenie move out. They want Frogmore empty and the Sussexes paying for it to be empty.

    • Kalana says:

Maybe they made her promises of a different grace and favor home if she moves out of Frogmore.

The family has closed ranks against Harry and Meghan. That much is obvious

    • Zengirl says:

I agree with the comments here. I think it is this, plus the fact that that Liz doesn’t like the optics of a Harry/Meghan decision that was not run through her. She’s the Queen! after all. I bet in a few months, we will get an unofficial statement (per wreath drama) that the Queen directly made the Royal Lodge decision and it took her all of 2 seconds!

  8. Amy Bee says:

I think the Queen, Charles or William demanded that Eugenie and her husband move out of Frogmore. According to reports, BP didn’t know that Harry had made arrangements with Eugenie to stay at Frogmore. If someone’s living in Frogmore, the press can’t attack Harry and Meghan for leaving a newly renovated house empty for most of the year. I suspect Harry and Meghan have given up the house and have told BP that. Staying at Frogmore, gives BP the opportunity to leak stories to the press every time Harry and Meghan come to visit. BP had already leaked to the Sun that Harry had told them to prepare the house for a visit. I think Harry saw that and decided they can’t stay there anymore because their privacy will be invaded by the Palace.

  9. Snuffles says:

I don’t think the house is haunted 😂 . I think it’s a combination of people throwing a fit that Harry and Eugenie came to an agreement on their own without consulting anyone else and them realizing they couldn’t live there in peace without the RRs being up in their business 24/7.

I also think Harry and Meghan have abandoned the idea of staying there when they visit. It’s essentially compromised. I think in the future they will either stay with friends or get their own secure apartment.

    • Mignionette says:

Just like their Oxfordshire home after the Sun sent in a drone to take pictures of the place. The fact that similar pics of Montecito have not been leaked pretty much confirms that the BRF authorized the leaks of their Oxford home.

They were then forced to move into Frogmore which was the intent all along i.e. to push them into the Royal enclave / bubble where Bill and Katie would be able to snoop and grant them unfettered access.

This family is evil and toxic.

      • Sofia says:

I don’t deny that the family wanted the Sussexes to be miserable. At all. But if the full intent was to push them into the royal bubble further, they would have made the Sussexes take the Gloucester’s KP apartment and continue staying under KP as opposed to moving their offices to BP.

I just don’t think Frogmore was a massive part of it.

      • Mignionette says:

@Sofia I think they had the pick of Appt 1A (Diana’s old appt) or Frogmore and they begrudgingly chose Frogmore as it was far away from Bill and Katie.

I think Bill was trying to force the image of closeness or at the very least keep Harry close so he could meddle and get into his head. However unlike most Narcs who only see people as objects he did not bank on the love between M&H overriding his wishes.

Initially I never understood why someone like Meg chose Frogmore over KP, but it all soon began to make sense.

      • Sofia says:

The Sussexes never had the option of Apartment 1A because that’s where the Cambridges live. Diana’s old apartment has been converted into offices IIRC.

I think they picked Frogmore because it was out of the KP bubble but also because it was more “open” and less cramped than KP (which I know is hugeeeeeeeeeeeeee but I imagine for the royals, it’s basically like living on top of another). Harry has talked about wanting open space so that they may have been a factor.

Edit: also 1A was never Diana’s apartment. It was Margaret’s.

      • BnLurkN4eva says:

@Sofia, they were also trying to appease them and dealing with a likely ticked off Harry who simply refused to be thrown under the bus for taking apartment 1b, (or was it 1A) away from the Glouchester (sp). Not to mention trying to avoid the enormous renovation cost of a property not scheduled to be renovated like Frogmore was scheduled to be. I think H/M attempted to side step all the landmines and still they erupted because forces kept moving said mines and placing them on top of H/M. I think the intent was to keep them in the ghetto and when Harry had enough the Liz/Charles cleared the way for the move under BP where access was less, but still firmly under palace control.

    • BnLurkN4eva says:

I think if Harry is in England alone for a quick visit he will stay at Frogmore, but if he and family are visiting England for an extended stay, they will stay somewhere else and I don’t blame them. Frogmore is bugged and just waiting for conversations of the Sussexes to dine on for years, decades. Eugenie and Jack probably found out and skipped out with the quick wondering how much information the press has on them and what they’ll have to do in exchange for keeping it under wraps.

      • Mignionette says:

It would be interesting to skip back over the press clipping for Eugenie and Jack and see what tipped them off they were being bugged/ watched.

      • BnLurkN4eva says:

@Mignionette, these people can’t keep secrets inside those connections. We might not hear of things because we are outside the bubble, but those in the bubble know it all. Someone made Jack/Eugenie know that the cottage had ears and they cleared out of there. Hopefully, they passed that information along to H/M although if we have the sense to be distrustful of his world, no doubt they do as well.

  10. Susan says:

Only one clear answer….FROGMORE IS HAUNTED. It was my initial reaction to this story and this just reinforces it.

  11. MissMarierose says:

I hope her pregnancy is going well. It must be more comforting to be near her mum when carrying her first child during a pandemic.

  12. Dollycoa says:

No paternity tests needed for Eugenie! Shes all Andrew poor girl!
I suspect they just can’t afford it. They were being bankrolled by Andy, who in turn was being bankrolled by mummy, supplemented by his dodgy dealings. I’d imagine now the dodgy dealings ( or Royal duties as he liked to call them) have gone he just can’t afford to bankroll his lifestyle and his daughter

    • Msmlnp says:

I don’t think much of him, but I think she’s beautiful with a gorgeous smile.

      • Elizabeth says:

She may be pretty outwardly, but she’s supporting a rapist who preyed on trafficked and abused teenagers. So I don’t think much of her or any of them.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I thought there were trusts set up from what the QM left, a couple of million £s for each grand/great grandkid…?

    • BnLurkN4eva says:

Poor girl nothing. They may be cash poor because their money is tied up, but they are not anyway poor. They just don’t like to spend their money unless they have no other choice, which is why they have monies for generations.

  13. Amelie says:

I think I suggested as a joke there’s probably a ghost there lol, and now I’m starting to think the place might be haunted haha. It would make sense, some of these buildings have been occupied by the British Crown for several centuries. I read up on the history of it and Queen Charlotte (the same Queen featured in Bridgerton) stayed there quite frequently during her reign with her unmarried daughters. So did Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna, the sister of the tsar Nicholas II of Russia (the same tsar that was executed along with his entire family by the Bolsheviks) for a time among many other tenants it had. So I would not be surprised to know there are restless spirits.

But the simpler reason is probably there was some internal family dispute and Eugenie and Jack were probably not wanting to deal with all that drama in the final months of Eugenie’s pregnancy. Though honestly, doesn’t Jack have money saved up to buy a house or apartment of his own? His brother-in-law Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi works in real estate too? Couldn’t he hook him up with a property?

    • Mignionette says:

      I agree.

I think Eugenie and Jack were told to ‘pick a side’ and with Andrew being compromised, Eugenie chose the path of least resistance.

The BRF are essentially trying to extort 2.5 Million from Harry and Meghan and if they succeed with this the demands will be endless i.e. charging them for room and board every time they revisit the UK, hence why H&M sidestepped them and held onto the lease.

    • Korra says:

It is probably haunted by Dan Wooten looking for some invasive scoops.

  14. S808 says:

I think maybe security. I think knowing there’s eyes on the property can’t be comforting but I won’t rule out them being told to leave either. Cause why not go straight to your dad’s estate?

  15. Kgino5 says:

I think they are playing the long game. It’s an effort to rehabilitate her gross father’s image – look he can’t be a pedophile because: a) we trust our child around him & b) he’s such a wonderful grandfather. Pathetic.

  16. yinyang says:

Countries want to have their monarchies– fine. But the commonwealth nations need to leave, this type of administrating is gross.

  17. Abena Asantewaa says:

It’s all bizzare! The truth will come out someday

  18. Lemons says:

It’s pretty clear that they are either unable or unwilling to spend the time and money to purchase a family home. Either way, they’re drifting. Now, they’re grifting the master grifter parents!

All of these excuses about “security” and being w/ family during the pandemic rings false. They were already in Frogmore…why wouldn’t they have moved in with Andrew and Sarah then?

  19. Jumpingthesnark says:

Well, she probably did what Charles/ William wanted because between the 2 of them, they will be holding the purse strings for a long time. Cant piss them off! Royal grifters gotta royal grift!

  20. Becks1 says:

My guess is that when it came out, she was asked to move out by Charles (asked or told) – not because they want Frogmore to sit empty, but because it sent a very clear message that Harry and Meghan were never coming back on a permanent basis; they would only be back in the UK for temporary visits, so temporary, in fact, that they wouldnt mind sharing with Jack and Eugenie. I dont think that sat well with Charles in terms of messaging (and maybe it was when he actually realized they were never coming back permanently), so he had them move out so now Frogmore is fully available for H&M (in his mind.)

    • Mignionette says:

See this is odd to me bc the Netflix deal and Montecito Masion pretty much signaled the end of any return. These guys are truly idiots if they ever thing Harry would return.

It just amazes me how they take Harry’s personal choices to protect his own family as a personal slight to theirs as if Meghan and Archie are a pair of old slippers Harry would simply throw away to be loyal to his UK family. That speaks to a level of toxic narcissism that Harry must have been happy to escape.

      • Becks1 says:

I think its sort of a….willful ignorance? I dont think thats the right way to put it but i cant think of a better phrase. Like I think Harry and Meghan have made their plans pretty clear, and while I fully expect them to return to the UK in the future, it will never be long-term. But its clear that some in the UK have deluded themselves to think otherwise, and its not just the RRs.

      • Noodle says:

@mignonette, it speaks so much to how they define “family”. In this case, it’s blood family that must take precedence. Perhaps protection of the family is so ingrained in them due to the birth rights, line of succession, etc, that they don’t even consider the consequence of that priority to non-royals or those in relationships with royals. I suppose if everything in my life were pre-determined for me because of my birth right and order (especially given that it’s “God-ordained”), I might see it differently. I imagine there is so much programming that is both explicit and implicit within that family, and as we see in Harry, breaking away from that programming is incredibly difficult.

    • Jegede says:

      @Becks1

      I agree 100% with everything you wrote.👍👍👍

I also think that’s why we’ve been recently inundated with stories about Harry & Meghan coming back for ‘review-extension’, Philip’s birthday, Trooping The Colour e.t.c – all since denied by Sussex sources.

There’s definitely an element of the BRF that want it to be known that the Sussexes are NOT gone for good, and WILL be coming ‘home’.

      • Mignionette says:

@Jegede it’s in the BRF’s interest to permanently Annex themselves to H&M in the news cycle, bc let’s face it no one GAF about the inbreeds in the UK.

There is real money and power that comes with that level of press attention and the BRF have always sought to court it.

They’re a little smarter this time round. With Diana they didn’t quite understand the power of her draw. This time they’re firmly anchoring themselves to Harry and Meghan and leaking their opinions on EVERYTHING. As if to say they exist bc we allow them to.

        It’s embarrassing.

  21. Clementines mom says:

Maybe they were renovating a nursery at the Royal Lodge & they only stayed at Frogmore until the renovations were complete.
It isn’t abnormal for children of narcissistic people to be in & out of their parent’s house as adults. Narcissistic abuse turns people into flying monkeys that protect and advocate for the Narc.

  22. OK says:

They were never living at Ivy Cottage , they just used it as a London pad when they were in the city, they had been living at The Lodge most of the time since March 2020, Fergie’s posts made that pretty clear. Then suddenly they were at Frog Cottage and then suddenly back at The Lodge. I think Frogmore Cottage is haunted, there is a cemetery at the bottom of the garden after all.

Keep in mind that When Andrew negotiated his 75year lease on The Lodge that Bea and Eugenie
were given the right to live in the house for the rest of the lease time when Andrew died, so in a way it’s her home and the place has 30 odd rooms so it’s not like they will be tripping over each other.

  23. MashedPeas says:

I think it’s because of the army of servants at the Lodge. Andrew can afford a full house of footmen, under-footmen, downstairs men of the foot, etc. As nice as it is to be alone with your new baby it’s infinitely more comfortable to have 3 servants per room.
