Donald Trump was impeached for a second time, in a House vote of 232-197

Trump Departure for Alamo, Texas

Before the House of Representatives voted on impeachment yesterday, I was letting my mind wander about all of the other criminal, deplorable, inappropriate and disgusting things Donald Trump has done over the past five years. It’s remarkable that he’s only been impeached twice. Not to be a bummer! Most of those crimes were committed well within the statutes of limitations, so fingers crossed that he’s charged with a lot of that sh-t.

So, to sum up: Donald Trump was impeached for a second time. He was re-impeached. The Sequel Impeachment. Impeachment Deux. Dos Impeachments, as Hilaria Baldwin would say. Trump is the only president to be impeached twice. The second impeachment was for Donald Trump’s incitement of a violent insurrection on the Capitol, both verbally (in a speech to the Stop the Steal rally) and in writing (all of those threatening tweets). At the end of the day, 10 Republicans joined the Democrats to impeach, putting the vote at 232-197. 232 was also the number of Electoral College votes Trump received. *cough* Here are some of the short statements made by House members:

And here’s how it ended:

Of course there were dingbats, wingnuts and idiots among the 197 Republicans with Stockholm Syndrome, who actually stood up and cast their vote to reject the second impeachment, because they’re not sure if Trump actually did incite a mob of terrorists to attack the Capitol just minutes after his speech. But what about Madonna saying words? Not even that. So, yeah, I’m not going to give those dumbasses any breath.

As for what’s next… President (elect) Biden has made it clear to his former Senate colleagues and to Speaker Pelosi that he definitely believes that articles of impeachment should proceed to the Senate trial, but he wants it to happen on his watch, during his presidency. Considering the Senate is adjourned until the 19th, that’s what will happen. Mitch McConnell has told the press that the Senate trial will not start until next week.

McConnell also said that we/they should spend the final week of the Trump era “completely focused on facilitating a safe inauguration and an orderly transfer of power.” Which… I agree? I have to think that the national security and domestic terrorism briefings Congress has been receiving have scared the bejesus out of them. There is a very real fear that white supremacist terrorists are going to attack all 50 state capitols, federal buildings and everything in Washington DC. Stay safe, everybody.

Look at the protection Speaker Pelosi is rolling with these days. And someone got her Speaker’s podium back!

I firmly believe that more than 15 House Republicans and 5 Senate Republicans will be arrested in the coming weeks.

Liz was briefed by the feds last week about the federal cases. She even said that it is a lot worse than first expected and a lot of stuff will come out soon.

Schumer should make the removal voting anonymous and I bet we will get at least 20 Republicans to vote yes.

    • Seraphina says:

Sierra, I have been reading the same. Maybe that is why they want to wait until the 20th for removal? That did not dawn on me until I read your comment.

    • Mignionette says:

      I agree.

Apparently the panic button was removed from Rep Ayana Presley’s room. This seems to support the theory that they knew about the riot way in advance.

They wound up the MAGAT’s to do their bidding and now they are all running scared. It will be delicious to see a few of them go to prison when they start throwing each other under the bus.

      • Darla says:

This part is so evil that I get chills every time I read it. Just the thought…

      • Lightpurple says:

Not just a room but her whole office suite.

And her husband caught Covid19 from sheltering with the Republicans who refused to mask up.

      • Noodle says:

There are photos of representative Lauren Boebert leading a tour for a group of identifiable terrorists the day before the event. This was 100% premeditated.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Please let one of them be that bimbo gun nut – she has a very punchable face. She is DEF up to her fake tits in it.

      • Seraphina says:

The one from Colorado???? HAHAHA. I don’t like her at all. I hope she is in the den of stupidity as well.

    • KhaoManee says:

Siera, I think you are so right about the arrests to come. Heads are gonna roll.

  2. DebraSam says:

I am seeing reports online that she has worn that particular dress both times she impeached Tr*mp. Love it!

    • Lightpurple says:

      It’s a fabulous dress.

    • Sarah says:

It’s true! Just sent the side by side pic to my husband. That’s high level trolling and the level of petty we can only aspire too. Queen shit. I see you Nancy!

      • Snazzy says:

When I grow up (I’m 44 lol) I hope to be half as amazing (and petty) as Nancy is.

      • AnnaKist says:

Hah! I love this so much. My daughter was streaming the debate and votes all morning, and lamented that we need a Nancy P in Australia. We have some great women leaders here, but since our political set-ups are so different, most stay in the background. I hope Nancy continues to be tenacious and utterly brilliant, because trump needs to face the music. His words to the MAGAts now are pointless, designed to make him appear innocent. It’s too late: a few weasel words at the end don’t wipe out the 5 years of grooming the MAGAts. His 4 years in the house perfectly illustrate the adage: If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. He saw the weakness. He exploited it.

    • Darla says:

      Fetch my impeachment dress!

God I love Nancy. I also thank God for her these past four years.

      • SarahCS says:

I love her for so many things and your ‘impeachment dress’ comment just tops it all off nicely!

      • Merricat says:

        Lol, Darla

      • LightPurple says:

If only she had been Speaker for all four years of this nightmare and not just the last two. Paul Ryan really needs to be made to answer for all the things he let Trump do.

      • Lady D says:

It is my firm belief that if James Comey had kept his mouth shut when Obama ordered him to over Hillary’s emails, the past four years would have never happened. I blame JC more than anyone for Trump’s rise. He too should be held accountable.

      • JanetDR says:

        Agreed Lady D!

    • Lucy2 says:

It’s definitely the same dress. Boss move! Nancy doesn’t play.

  3. Seraphina says:

I have been living and breathing news outlets and have become obsessed. It does not help I am history major and poli sci minor. I had CNN on all day and told the family not to turn the channel. I could not believe those that still excuse him – The Deplorables.
If Biden says he wants to wait, then I am for it, but if it’s up to Mitch he needs to step up. The Republicans pushed a SC justice through in 8 days and we should push out a President inciting insurrection. I questioned why Mitch stated he would wait, was it because he punked out and wanted the democrats to do it but still still look like he was for it so he does not lose corporate money or does he want to ensure Trump is out which would mean it has to happen after the 20th? Lastly, are we all confident this man won’t do something very stupid in his last few days????

    • Watson says:

Stupid is exactly what we can all expect from Trump. That man is immune to logic and impulse control.

    • Esmom says:

Seraphina, Thanks for sharing that tidbit about yourself. I have been into politics ever since studying Watergate in high school government class. I started out as a poli sci/pre-law major but ended up switching to English. History classes were among my favorites, too. I have served in a couple local government positions and found the political aspects (thanks to the Tea Partiers I have to serve alongside) to be so incredibly stressful that I can’t imagine how people do this on a national or even statewide level.

I was itching for an immediate trial but now that we’re getting whiffs of even more damning info to come, it actually is advantageous to wait.

And on the flip side, I saw that on Parler the wing nuts STILL think Trump will be the one who is inaugurated on Jan 20 and that they somehow thought Nancy Pelosi was going to be arrested yesterday, along with Obama. The damage that’s been wrought to this country can be traced directly back to the Tea Partiers and the culture of complete bulls^ht they unleashed.

      • Seraphina says:

@Esmom, thanks for sharing some info on your background as well. I was not in a good place Saturday because I saw history repeating itself if Trump and the others are not held accountable. It’s given me some solace to know so many are holding him accountable. I applaud Liz Cheney. And make no mistake, that statement she released was vetted by her father.
And yes, as more info is trickled out to us, I am starting to think their may be some strategy on waiting until AFTER the 20th. Pelosi has been silent (from what I am seeing) on Mitch not pushing this through. It’s making me wonder why.

      • Esmom says:

Seraphina, Yes, I have been thinking about Nazi Germany a lot. I didn’t love Arnold Schwarzenegger’s video but I was really happy he made those parallels and talked about his firsthand experiences. And yes about Nancy seemingly okay with waiting on the Senate to take up impeachment. Interesting for sure.

Best to you in your studies!

      • Seraphina says:

Esmom, thank you for the well wishes but I graduated long ago. 🙂 But I am still a student, life is a never ending journey of learning. Or, it should be.

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I’m right there with ya gurl. I’ve been a poli sci wallflower since the 80s. It’s part of the reason I spent eight years on two college campuses. I was addicted to taking classes and changing majors, and everything danced around the sciences of people and government (they were my totem poles lol). It’s embarrassing how many times I refreshed yesterday, I kid you not. My roku streaming various live channels, my large tablet at eye level split four ways, my phone leaning next to it doing its thing and the tablet in my lap for anything and everything else I’m doing lmao. I’m crazy. I’ve been reading Gab, and they’re going crazy waiting for words from their prophet, Q.

      • Seraphina says:

That’s exactly how I have my desk set up! hahahaha. I am not proud to admit it but hey, I am very informed.

    • AlpineWitch says:

I think I have been attached to the news since the attack and I’m not even American!

  4. erni says:

Not American here. Why need 2 impeachment?

    • Lanie says:

Because after the 1st impeachment in the house, The Republican led Senate refused to follow through on the conviction, allowing Trump to stay in office.

With the runoff Senate elections in Georgia on January 5th, There is a 50/50 split in the Senate, and VP Kamala Harris is the tiebreaker. Republicans lost control of the Senate. And with some Senate Republicans considering convicting Trump, the full impeachment may go through. It’s tough because they need 17 crossover votes from the Republicans, and frankly, Republicans are two faced mealy mouthed cowards and opportunists.

    • Becks1 says:

There were two impeachments for two different issues. the first one, in December 2019, was for the phone call with Ukraine, where Trump asked for dirt on Hunter Biden (Joe Biden’s son.) So this second impeachment is for his actions last week.

In the US, impeachment is sort of just getting the charges passed – the House of Representatives does that. Then it goes to the Senate who votes whether to convict (remove) or not – so when he was impeached last year, he was found “not guilty” by the senate so he remained in office. Now he’s been impeached again and the Senate will have to vote again.

      • JennyJazzhands says:

Dear Lord, December 2019 seems like a decade ago.

      • Becks1 says:

Doesnt it though??? When I saw last night that the first impeachment was December 2019, my thought was…..thats not right. It was much longer ago than that. But nope. Its crazy.

    • erni says:

      Noted, thanks Lanie and Becks1

  5. Lightpurple says:

Speaker Pelosi made time yesterday to speak with and thank the National Guard units stationed at the Capitol. There are more troops currently stationed at the Capitol than in Afghanistan and Iraq combined.

And her ensemble, can’t tell whether that’s a dress or suit, was gorgeous. This amazing 80 year old woman is holding our government together and she’s doing it with style.

As for those who opposed impeachment, many of them seem to be living in a fantasy world full of false equivalencies and persecution complexes, while others are outright seditious idiots.

    • Esmom says:

I saw that and it made me want to cry. She also called (or met, maybe?) the family of Officer Sicknick and discussed putting a plaque in his honor in the Capitol. Trump hasn’t even mentioned Sicknick.

And I agree to everything you said about the House Republicans who voted no. Their speechifying was disgraceful and their reasoning was sheer garbage. I also read that Marjorie Taylor Greene plans to introduce articles of impeachment against Biden on Jan 20. Good luck with that, b^tch.

      • Becks1 says:

Has Trump even ordered the flags lowered? I had to go to my main building this week (headquarters of a large fed agency) and the US flag was half-mast, not sure if that was due to a federal order or not though.

      • Midnight@theOasis says:

Articles of impeachment against Biden on Jan 21? On what grounds? Gawd, these people are insane.

      • Esmom says:

Becks, someone ordered them lowered four days after the event.
Midnight, Who knows what grounds the Qanon-addled minds will come up with. Insanity indeed and I wish there was a way to get these loons out of office.

      • SpankyB says:

@ Midnight@theOasis (thanks for the earworm. lol) The grounds for Biden impeachment is, and I quote “Hunter Biden’s laptop”. Yep.

      • JanetDR says:

My idiot rep voted no. No surprise, the only thing good that he is behind is social security. Thank goodness for Nancy!

  6. Mignionette says:

Great now have him removed from office so he can never run again.

  7. Size Does Matter says:

Also, the second impeachment throws a real wrench into any Trump scheme to self-pardon related to these events. The pardon power is limited “except in cases of impeachment.” It’a a bit of a gray area whether this clause means “impeachment” or “conviction” but I do not expect the interpreting party (probably the Senate?) to be generous. But Trump could blanket pardon all the terrorists he incited (Carter blanket pardoned everyone who dodged the Vietnam War draft). Question still remains whether Trump could ever pardon himself to begin with (probably not but it remains untested) but even less likely after the impeachment. Also we know Trump can only pardon for federal crimes so any state crimes committed by himself or anyone else are out of his reach.

    • kelsey says:

There has been talk of pardoning the terrorists who stormed the Capitol but nearly all of them have said they did it because Trump asked them too. By pardoning them Trump is setting himself up admitting that he influenced their actions.

However he is stupid enough to pardon them just to send a big middle finger to the world.

  8. Becks1 says:

I just want to point out that Pelosi wore the same outfit for this impeachment that she wore to the last impeachment. That’s an IND girl for you!

  9. Ang says:

Love that Pelosi wore the same #ImpeachmentDress that she wore to Trumps last impeachment! As Sam Bee said, if he didn’t get impeached so much, maybe she wouldn’t need a special outfit for it!! Hahahaha

  10. Sofia says:

It makes sense why Mitch isn’t bringing it to the senate so soon and it might turn out to be a blessing. Get Biden’s nominees confirmed and well as a stimulus and then do a trial. And since some time will have passed, more information will come out.

PS: Fuck all the republicans who preached about “unity” and “healing”. Domestic terrorists need to be punished and that includes the President if he’s involved

    • Chrissy (The Original) says:

Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, that Caldwell dude, Devin Nunes, Louis Goumert : are not above suspicion as well.

      • Lightpurple says:

Mo Brooks, Josh Hawley, and that gun-worshiping imbecile Lauren Boebert, who tweeted 1776 the morning of the attack and Pelosi’s location during the attack.

      • Soupie says:

Lauren Boebert needs to go. Her nothing platform that didn’t go beyond Guns and Boobs, is despicable. If she did lead that tour, she needs to do hard time.

      • kelsey says:

Representatives Mo Brooks, Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar were specifically named by Ali Alexander (one of the instigators of the insurrection) as being involved. I doubt they are the only three.

    • Lucy2 says:

As much as I wish the Senate were voting on it this morning, i’m thinking now they are going to get a few more briefings and the picture will become more clear, and every senator who is not part of this horrific crime will be convinced to vote for impeachment. It needs to be definitive.
Whatever they were briefed on so far was enough for Cheney and nine other Republicans to vote for it. That’s more than has ever happened in any previous impeachment, and there are also reports that Republicans are receiving threats. And for McConnell to back off as much as he did too.

Thank God Biden was elected and will install good people throughout the federal government again, especially DOJ.

      • FancyPants says:

Yes, Lucy2, let all the info trickle out and also I think this is Mitch twisting the knife in his back. If he waits until Jan. 20, then Trump can’t resign in time for Pence to pardon him!

    • whatWHAT? says:

they only want unity when they’re not in power.

      F*CK THEM.

  11. samipup says:

” Dos Impeachments, as Hilaria Baldwin would say.”

Kaiser, you won comment of the week! I love your humor!

  12. Edna says:

6 more days. Just praying 🙏🏼🙏🏼 we can get there peacefully.

  13. Riley says:

In the words of the great Jerry/Garry/Larry Gergich, it ain’t government work if you don’t have to do it twice!

  14. FC says:

Does the new Congress (specifically our new Dem-controlled Senate) take effect after Biden is sworn in? I don’t know how/when that happens, but that could be another good reason to wait.

    • ATLMathMom says:

I believe that most of the new Congress was sworn in on Jan 3. The ones who haven’t been sworn in yet were in undecided races like the 2 GA senate races.

We were watching the Senate vote to certify the election results on Jan 6 and couldn’t figure out why there were only 99 Senate votes. David Perdue wasn’t there b’c his term officially expired on Jan 3 and he hadn’t won reelection. Kelly Loeffler was there b’c she was appointed to temporarily fill out a term until the special election could be run.

  15. booboochile says:

I just love her body guard contingent…Quadaffi style…That’s so boss!
