The Duke & Duchess of Sussex are expecting their second child!

Just ahead of Thanksgiving last year, the Duchess of Sussex wrote a New York Times op-ed where she spoke about how she had a miscarriage in July 2020. We had suspected, around that time, that she was pregnant, and we were so sad that she and Harry lost the pregnancy. Many people declared that they would not bump-watch, but there was a certain energy around Harry and Meghan in the past three or four months or so. That energy was… we’re totally fine in LA, don’t bother us, we’re not traveling. We only saw Meghan from the shoulders up once or twice during that time too. So… yeah. She’s pregnant! HURRAY!

Congratulations are in order for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex! The royal couple are expecting their second child together, a spokesperson confirms to BAZAAR.com.

“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” a spokesperson for the Sussexes revealed on Sunday. The couple shared a new photo taken remotely by their longtime friend, the photographer Misan Harriman.

[From Harper’s Bazaar]

I’m overjoyed for them! I’m so happy. This is why Meghan’s lawyers asked that the trial date in her lawsuit get pushed back as well, and it’s also one of a million reasons why Meghan showed zero interest in returning to the UK in May and June. Judging from the size of her bump, her due date is probably around then!

Omid Scobie pointed out that Princess Diana announced her pregnancy with Harry on Valentine’s Day in 1984 (he was born in September). That’s the kind of throwback we love!

Wonderful, wonderful news! And what a beautiful picture, this made my day.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

First the court win now this. I am over the moon for them. This is the difference between thriving and surviving.

    • PrincessK says:

The picture is really fabulous, the Sussexes just keep on kicking the ball out of the park.

      Wonderful!

    • Yup, Me says:

I agree – it’s a gorgeous, joyous, relaxed and peaceful photo and now Harry is going to get to experience a California crunchy granola woowoo pregnancy (as opposed to that mess they were dealing with when Archie was on his way).

I’m pregnant and having my own CA crunchy granola woowoo pregnancy after a miscarriage last year so I feel extra excited for them and particularly that Meghan gets to do this pregnancy on her terms.

I hope she gets Harry to take a sip of placenta smoothie after the birth. 😂

      • Kate says:

Congratulations @Yup, Me! What wonderful news.

I love the photo, they look so happy and also love the Notting Hill vibes.

      • Sarah says:

        Congratulations!!!!!

      • Mia says:

Congratulations @Yup,Me!!! 🥰 I hope you enjoy every crunchy granola minute! 💚 there is definitely preggers yoga and plenty of nutrition going on in the Sussex house ✨

Cheers ladies, on this fabulous news!! 🥂 Look at these kids! 😭💚

      • Donna B. says:

        @Yup Me….Congratulations!

  2. Alexandria says:

I really love that picture. Wishing my Duchess a happy and healthy pregnancy.

    • VS says:

I loved the picture as well; Hope she enjoys this pregnancy in peace

      • Becks1 says:

Yes that picture is gorgeous – there’s so much love in it! So happy for them.

      • VS says:

@Becks1 — I know; isn’t it strange I am so happy for a couple I have never met? I feel the same towards them (especially Meg & Doria) as I feel for the Obamas, Serena, and all those women or couples who dare to occupy a space some people deem them not worthy of!
Anyway, all the best and I so wish Meg keeps her legs up and enjoy this one…..

      • Royalwatcher says:

VS – well said! I feel the same, but not only happy for all of those you named but also very protective of them!!

I’m so happy and excited for the Sussexes including soon-to-be big brother Archie and Doria ❤️ I’m really hoping she’s further along than the photo indicates so she can have a private and peaceful final few months and birth. And then once baby/babies are a month old they can announce it.

      • bamaborn says:

Yes, 1000 times! Away from that vipers den can only be beneficial.

      • Becks1 says:

I think the personal connection is a direct result of the abuse they experience. It makes us feel protective of them and I think it makes us respect them more because we can see their strength and Grace. So we’re personally happy to see good things happen for them.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

You can see their joy in that photo and want that for them.
They seem like good people that want good for others and actively walk the walk. How can you not want happiness for people like that?

    • Amy Too says:

They both look so gorgeous and so happy and relaxed. I love how casual and intimate the picture is. They look like a married couple who are totally into each other. It’s not the usual formal, staid, stiff portrait that we get from royals.

Does anyone have any ideas about how her hair is styled? It almost looks like it’s in thick twists or locks or another natural hair style, but is it just the light and shadow coming through the trees?

  3. Neesee says:

    So happy for them

  4. OzJennifer says:

This news made me smile. I wish every happiness for this lovely family.

  5. FancyPants says:

Congratulations Sussexes! Wishing y’all a safe and healthy pregnancy! Omg is that your backyard? That tree! What a happy, beautiful picture.

    • Royalwatcher says:

Isn’t it a gorgeous setting?! I can just imagine Archie and the dogs romping around or Meghan doing yoga under that tree. Their home and land are so just beautiful and tranquil.

It also reminds me of the picture Harry took of Meghan when she was pregnant with Archie standing under the huge redwood(?) trees when they were on tour.

    • Green Desert says:

Same thought here, that tree! Their property looks gorgeous.

Congrats to them, what happy news!

  6. Angel says:

It was very obvious with their last zoom call that she was expecting. I was just waiting for them to announce. I am very happy for her, and happy that she gets to live this pregnancy on better conditions that the first one.

    • Lenn says:

      really? what did you notice?

    • Bibi says:

I thought that too but didnt want to bump watch. Last zoom was very obvious and even other times I was like hmmmm
So happy for them and Archie congrats

    • Reece says:

I thought so too. Her face looked fuller but I didn’t want to go there.
      I’m so happy for them!

    • AnnaKist says:

I was speaking on the phone with my younger sister on Saturday. We were talking about Spanish Hilaria – she knew nothing about that. Then the talk went to Eugenie, and I dared to say that I believed Meghan and Harry would announce a pregnancy any day now. She scoffed and asked why I’d say that. For me, I always notice the changes in a woman’s face before anything else. I reminded her of this, and her response was, “Well, I don’t care. I can’t stand Meghan Markle.” Once again, I asked why, giving her an out by reminding her that she can be happy for Eugene AND Meghan. And once again, the answer was, “I just don’t like her.” That kind of answer tells me you’re hiding. I really think she’s a die-hard Royalist, which is fine, but doesn’t wish to admit it.
Anyway, this s wonderful news. Archie is going to be a big brother! Wishing them a stress-free pregnancy and trouble-free delivery. I love that photo, too.

  7. Sandra says:

    Very happy for them..

  8. TeamAwesome says:

All the love to this growing family!! Unless you are a UK tabloid, apparently.

    • MsDiMeanOur says:

unless you are Piers Morgan as well

the best of the best for this beautiful family!!

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

The Rats of the Royal Rota have been salty since the moment this was announced. Let them die mad about it.
Been watching SussexSquad on Twitter doing the roundup of the sour pills in the UK media… it’s already reaching “extra” levels. SMH. These people need some damn therapy.

My greatest hope is that the Daily Mail gets enough of a spanking with the latest judgement that the Rats think twice about pillorying her for ‘having the temerity to be pregnant’.

Oh, and while I’m wishing, can we have Meghan’s actual name on BOTH her children’s birth certificates now, please and thank you?

I think the Lamebridges must have had an inkling about Meghan being pregnant, b/c between this announcement and Eugenie’s delivery of a son this past week, all the sudden we’re getting bombarded by stories that “the Cambridges have informed Her Maj that they are trying for number 4”?

Which tbh, just makes Workshy and Wiglets look like sad, pathetic little attention whores and clout chasers. Again. (Why would Kate try for a fourth kid? Wasn’t she “exhausted” by homeschool only a week ago?)

      • ennie says:

of course they’ve had a year practically off (maybe they have traveled and we have not known about it), so if she gets pregnant soon-isa, then when is time for her to go back to work, she will have to rest because of her pregnancy.
        LESS WORK!
for the royal rats, er… reporters, that also means that it is going to be another poor cousin who will not see cousins Archie and new baby. booo hooo, when the truth is they cannot profit from his as much as they could have. S*ckers!

…and RF, here is your one-year review, ha!

    • bamaborn says:

      Lol!

    • Juju says:

You’ve probably never heard about Harry’s escapades before all the Meghan stuff. This boring happy family life is very much unlike him.

  9. Sofia says:

Congrats to them both! The picture they released is lovely. Wishing them both peach and happiness through this journey.

    • anotherlily says:

It’s a lovely picture. It brought to mind the phrase “barefoot and pregnant” – a saying to suggest that women should just stay at home and produce children. But here it’s Harry who is barefoot, supporting his pregnant wife. Perhaps they were doing yoga exercises. Or, maybe it’s intentional and a way of telling the world this is their home and they’re staying together.

    • My Two Cents says:

The salty people are saying Harry has dirty feet, there is even a DM article about it (one of the 7 or 8 today)… I mean, clearly it’s the shadow from the black and white photo, but why would a couple announcing happy news deter you from picking everything apart and looking for something to hate? There are also enough comments out there still going on about a surrogate. I would hope these accounts get deleted and they stop with this, but unfortunately this lovely news has made them even angrier.

      • Petra says:

Are the salty people a little dumb? Of course Harry’s feet are dirty, he is barefoot in nature.

      • PrincessK says:

People are so stupid, so what if his feet are dirty, if you are barefoot how can your feet be squeaky clean.

Some fools are even saying that Harry is showing disrespect to cultures that say you shouldn’t show your feet.

      • swirlmamad says:

Pathetic beyond belief. Grasping at straws, eh? It just makes them look the knuckle-dragging jealous haters they are. All the best in the world to this lovely couple and their beautiful growing family.

      • M.A.F. says:

I pointed out his foot. Not because it looked dirty (didn’t even occur to me that it could be) but because I do not like feet and that was the first thing my eyes gravitated to. Overall, I do like the photo, it’s very cute and very them.

  10. Amy Bee says:

I’m happy for them. This is why the Sussexes said it was presumptuous for royal aides to talking about them going to the UK for the summer. My guess is Harry won’t be going to UK.

    • booboocita says:

My thoughts exactly. This child will keep Harry home with Meghan and Archie and away from the UK this summer. By all appearances (that photo!), he’s a doting father and devoted husband, so he won’t want to be away from his wife and children for even a short length of time.

      • JT says:

The press and RF must be salty about that. As much as they like to claim that H&M would steal the spotlight, they need them for the coverage. Now any trooping that happens or Philip celebrations are going to mention H&M’s absence and the pregnancy. From now until summer there will be stories about the baby and guessing when he/she will arrive.

      • PrincessK says:

@JT….The Sussexes are always going to outshine every member of the Royal family forever.

    • BayTampaBay says:

New baby or no new baby, IMHO there really is no good reason for anyone to travel to the UK this summer with a major pandemic under way unless it is a life or death matter.

  11. Digital Unicorn says:

Congrats – I love the photo they released and i hope she continues to have a healthy and safe time.

Given that the Fail has confirmed the RF family were told a few days ago, it puts that weird story about the Keenbridges and baby no. 4 into perspective. They knew about it and wanted to insert themselves into the narrative beforehand.

    • TQ says:

OMG, great point. Petty, petty Keenbridges.

      Yay H & M! And Archie!

    • Snuffles says:

Chris Ship said the family was told the same day they told the rest of the world.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Hmm interesting, could explain why it took the family a while to get an official message out but Ship has been wrong before.

Its one of those situations I can believe both – that maybe TQ and Chuck were told a few days ago and everyone else on the day (cough*KensingtonPalace*cough).

      • Yoyo says:

@DU, did you notice, it was the Queen, Philip and Charles and the rest of the Royal family.
Lately they have been inserting willnot and cannot into official responses, guess they know, one one would believe that they were sending best wishes.

    • Abby says:

Yep, the story about a 4th baby for the Cambridges makes total sense now.

    • Amy Bee says:

According to the royal rota, the Royal Family was told a few minutes before the announcement was made. The family found out almost the same time as the rest of us. There’s been some grumbling from the press that because the Royal Family didn’t have time to put out a prepared statement. The 4th child story more likely was made up by US Weekly itself not by the Cambridges.

      • Ginger says:

I agree Amy, it’s also why the RR are having major meltdowns over this announcement. The RF were blindsided by this.

      • Royalwatcher says:

The “the BRF didn’t have time to prepare a statement” is such a dumb take (i.e. makes the firm and the media clinging to this narrative look stupid). Wouldn’t a good communications office have pre-prepared statements of all sorts?! And how much time would they need anyway to write some words of congratulations? IMO this is just another way to try to guilt trip the Sussexes into sharing more info…which can then be leaked by the palace staff to the media. Luckily M&H are not playing that game!

      • Amy Too says:

And every statement is always the same for congratulations on a pregnancy announcement: “Her Majesty, the Duke of E, P and P of Wales, etc are delighted about the announcement made by the D and D of S.” It’s always “delighted” and it’s always the same format, so why would they need any time at all to formulate their response? They probably have a template that they just insert “pregnancy/birth/marriage/engagement” into. Along with “Baby is the Queen’s 10th/11th/12th/whatever great grandchild.”

      • PrincessK says:

Nonsense. The RF were probably told minutes beforehand that a statement was going to be issued. Of course they all knew Meghan was pregnant. They have their spies. If we knew she was pregnant weeks ago, the RF must have known too.

      • Nyro says:

The grotesque Robert Johnson was on an Australian talk show immediately following the news and he clearly had no idea what he was talking about. No info, no details, nada, nothing. He looked like an even bigger fool and hater than ever. I think these royal reporters, like the royal family, still can’t accept that Harry and Meghan no longer work for them and no longer answer to them. They all seem in complete shock that this announcement was not at all coordinated with the palace. I think they thought the family would have all the info and would have news for them immediately following the HM, a coordinated tag team that includes the family and the British media. They can’t accept that this is not the case. The Sussexes are not working with the family and never will. The BRF and the BM are about as relevant to Harry and Megan’s communications strategy as they are to Beyonce’s. Both the BRF and the BM simply cannot accept that they are completely out of the loop and shall remain that way.

      • L4frimaire says:

I agree with those who say the family already knew they were pregnant, but were only given a heads up for the a full press announcement being made shortly before it was made public. I’m not even sure if the Sussexes making their own announcement was really a surprise, because the Rota like to frame every news from the Sussexes as catching the palace flat footed. I’m somewhat skeptical of it, because if, for some unfathomable reason, Harry wanted the palace to make the announcement for him, they would have refused to do it, especially on palace letterhead, then they would have let the press know that Harry made the request and been rejected to embarrass him, which would have the press saying they wanted to use the palace and take advantage of their royal connections. We’ve seen this before, such as the wreath incident . I think always they knew the Sussexes would make their own announcement, but probably not how it would be, who from, and how huge the reaction to it was.

    • Over it says:

I also thought this at first because Kate is all about look at meeeeee. However knowing what Harry and Megs know about that family especially Karen and Kevin ability to leak all their business, there is absolutely no way in hell that they told them or any of that family beforehand. I say Harry gave them a 10 minutes heads up before they told the world and I for one am all for it. That family deserves to know the bare minimum if even that about Harry, his wife and his children.

      • JT says:

I don’t think William and Kate were told because they were left out of the announcement. They are probably the ones caught off guard, even if the queen and Charles were told shortly beforehand. I think we have to remember that saying “the palace” doesn’t signify which palace. Especially as it seems that KP has been doing the major leaking about H&M.

      • Amy Too says:

I think they might’ve guessed based off how Meghan was looking, how Meghan hasn’t been seen in public below the waist in awhile, and the fact that they knew they were trying for a second baby after the miscarriage news came out. So they jumped in trying to preventively steal any pregnancy spotlight.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

Cambridges: shorthand for sad little clout chasers.

If Charles was informed ahead, guaranteed he himself, or Chaz’s courtiers, leaked it to Will or Will’s staff. If those two are buddy-buddy, united against Harry, like the tabloids have suggested, then yeah, that absolutely would have leaked from CH to KP. It’s like when Hazza’s location was leaked to the media when he was in Afghanistan. Could only have come from family, leaked via courtiers to the press. My money was on Will doing it out of jealousy; nearly got his brother killed.

Honestly when the “trying for baby 4” story launched, that’s when I knew Meghan must be pregnant. Why else would they circulate something like that? In the past they’ve made no mention until Kate was actually confirmed to be pregnant and out of early danger of miscarriage, which is how BP traditionally has preferred to conduct announcements.

Kate & William, their courtiers, and their hagiographers in the media should take advantage of the mental health services W&K’s charities offer. Seriously. All of them need some deep therapy, and major racism deprogramming.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

I disagree that Chuck would have told William as am not convinced that they are as buddy buddy was the rota will have us believe – I think its as fractured as ever but William is using his father to further his image as heir, hence the PR push to make it look like they are close.

There has been a few other announcements from the Sussex’s where it was clear the TQ and Chuck had been informed but NOT William (who found out when everyone else did).

The Cambridges and KP have backed themselves in a dangerous corner with all the leaks (not just about the Sussex’s) – the other households/RF members are clearly NOT telling them anything and at some point the BM rags will turn on them.

      • notasugarhere says:

I’m with you, Digital Unicorn. William and Charles are not close, never have been. William will continue to undermine Charles until he needs Charles to help him offload Kate. After that, it will be back to William vs. Charles.

      • Andrea says:

Offload Kate…Interesting theory… I doubt they will make it to their silver anniversary either.

  12. Lemons says:

So happy for them! It’s great that there is more joy in their lives and that they can surround themselves by people with good energy wanting the best for them.

It’s great that Eugenie and Jack’s baby will have a couple of cousins close to their age to play with 🙂

  13. Who ARE these people? says:

Lovely news, and that photo…Julia Roberts at the end of Notting Hill.

    • lemonylips says:

OMG yes, you’re right – it is totally that vibe! I was thinking how it reminded me of something but couldn’t figure it out. It is a lovely photo yes.

  14. Elvie says:

This is so exciting. I cried last night when I read the news. A precious rainbow baby for them. <3.

  15. Chartreuse says:

Congratulations to the Sussexes! Such great news for them. Wishing them a healthy happy rest of pregnancy and birth.

  16. Lily P says:

So happy for them! Such a gorgeous photo too.

  17. Cecilia says:

Im so excited!!!!!!! I was screaming the house down when i heard😂

  18. Brit says:

The usual suspects are mad of course because they can’t and won’t make money off this child. This has been an amazing week for them and they have many things to be happy about. I just get satisfaction that their abusers and haters will forever be bitter and ignored.

    • Snuffles says:

Yup. For them it’s either fade away into obscurity or give us unfettered access and let us bully, manipulate and gaslight you with impunity as we make millions. Being a private citizen with control of their own narrative is not an option.

      • Brit says:

Which is only backfiring one them 😂 I’ve seen more people calling out the reporters and media and being very supportive of the Sussexes. I don’t think the BM truly realize how irrelevant and pointless they actually are. They are not apart of Harry and Meghan’s story anymore and they can’t stand it. They’ve been going upwards and upwards since they left that family and the media can’t and won’t stop it. It’s not the 90’s anymore.

    • Beach Dreams says:

Yeah they are hopping mad. Emily Andrews was especially bitter. I guess she’s upset that she won’t be able to exercise her creativity in writing about baby showers that didn’t happen yet 😂

      • The Duchess says:

Emily Andrew’s is currently getting the dragging of her life on Twitter. I’m so glad more and more people are waking up this time round and that Meghan can finally have the peaceful pregnancy she deserves. The Rota Rats have only themselves to blame for fumbling their own bag. We warned them that this would happen and I’m so happy it actually has.

    • My Two Cents says:

But Piers Morgan is still going strong, he faked vomited into a garbage can on air a few weeks ago in response to something Sussex related, he’s going after them today on Twitter and an article in the Daily Mail – how funny that he completely ignored Meghan’s big win. It shows he is not just writing professionally with the occasional criticism as he would have you believe, it’s personal and beyond reprehensible at this point. How does he still have a job? Why would ITV accept this behaviour on their TV show? He fights with everyone, is a total bully, he doesn’t let anyone get a word in edge-wise…how is allowed to keep going? which of course brings us to the Royal Family, how with just one statement from the Queen to leave her alone, it would NOT be accepted.

  19. Islandgirl says:

Congratulations to Harry and Meghan . So very happy for them. Wishing them much joy in this new season in their life together.
On another note I am wondering if there’s any reflection going on in the House of Windsor.
    What have we done?
Could we have done anything differently?
How can we repair this relationship going forward?
Do they want to repair the relationship going forward?
What does this relationship look like in the future?

    • Amy Bee says:

I’m going to guess that no reflection is taking place. The Queen is still angry with Tony Blair for making her make that speech to the nation after Diana died. They probably think that Harry is going through a phase and that he will snap out of it and return to the UK. Everything that Harry and Meghan have done since they left tells the rest of us that they’re have no intention of returning to royal life and that they’re effectively done with the family.

    • booboocita says:

No reflection, rumination, pondering, or self-examination of any sort going on in BP, CH, or KP — unless it’s of the “How am I going to spin this news to my advantage or credit?” sort. Those toxic individuals and their minions have learned nothing from previous events. Why should this one be any different? I’m so very glad for Meghan and Harry, and I sincerely hope that this pregnancy is stress-free and filled only with peace and joy, far away from the haters inside the family and press.

      • ArtHistorian says:

This family isn’t in the habit of self-reflection at all. They’re used to everybody accommodating them, they have no experience with changing their own behaviour to make someone else happy. Other people change their behaviour for them, it is what they expect and think is their due because of their rank.

    • Beach Dreams says:

No way. In fact I’d guess that this announcement has embittered them even more. They’ve probably been desperately holding out hope that Harry would come back (alone) for at least one of their planned events this summer, and yesterday’s news has put a huge damper on that. It’s also getting more difficult for them to feed the beast (the media) that they’ve happily aligned themselves with against the Sussexes.

    • Alexandria says:

How can there be self reflection when they let history repeat itself with the married ins and their treatment of Margaret and Harry? This family never learns. And just silence about their stolen jewels…

  20. Phoenix says:

So happy for them! I literally started shacking when I saw the news. I was having my suspicions that Meghan is pregnant, but seeing it confirmed with this beautiful photo just makes me so happy. I hope that Meghan will have a peaceful and healthy pregnancy, delivery and motherhood. Every expecting mom deserves that!
I saw this morning that in DM there were already 10+ articles about the news and knowing what snakes they are I hope that they will leave them in peace!

    • Lemons says:

And I’m sure the rabid royalists will be commenting under each and every article with some imaginary reason to hate. The DM will make money, but it’s funny to see how much this could is supposed to be irrelevant, only to show, time and time again, that they are anything but, especially in these people’s lives.

      • Chartreuse says:

        @lemons, I guarantee they’ll moan about Harry’s bare feet. In 3…2…1

      • booboocita says:

Daily Fail exclusive: “Controlling and abusive Meghan won’t let poor Harry wear shoes, lest he escape and run to England!”

    • sunny says:

I feel so happy for them! She was hounded so much during her first pregnancy, and after the tragic loss of her second, I’m glad that she and Harry can enjoy this 3rd pregnancy in relative peace.

      What wonderful news!

  21. Snuffles says:

Yay! I estimate she’s due around June-ish too.

So, that sad list of all the possible events Harry would return to the UK for this summer that the BM put together has to be torn up! 😂

No Philip’s 100th, no Queen’s birthday. no Trooping, Invictus was postponed and I’m doubting that Harry would even come for the Diana statue unveiling in July.

And the royal family was only notified minutes before the press release went out! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

    • Smices says:

I think the statue unveiling is the only event he will show up for.

    • Queen of the Universe says:

Snuffles, I really hope you are correct about a June due date. Harry would never leave for the string of “important royal events”. No b-days, no trooping, and he can send a video message to the Diana statue unveiling. HAHAHAHHAHAH.

And on a less snarky note, I am so happy for M&H. More Sussexes make the world a better place. Godspeed.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

      Congratulations to the happy family!

First, the polar vortex is about to leave the upper midwest, and now the happy news about a new baby. It’s a good day!

She’s laying on her back with quite a rounded bump- I’d wager she’s creeping up on seven months.

    • PrincessK says:

I think it’s going to be a May/June baby judging by the bump.

    • My Two Cents says:

Whenever she is due, I am SOOO happy she will not be going to the UK and they can stop with the dumb articles speculating why she won’t go – will it overshadow everyone, is she welcomed bla bla bla.

      • BnLurkN4eva says:

Yes. This is my favorite part of the resulting outcome of this news. They will hopefully quit speculating about whether she’s coming and if she’s not, is she snubbing this one or that one. Or, if she’s coming will that overshadow this one or that one. I wish these people will let this woman live her life already and go report on the other royals they say are relevant.

  22. Chelsea says:

So happy for them! I had a feeling she was pregnant when she did that CNN spot in December in that interesting pink outfit after we hadn’t seen her in a month and then we didnt see her for another month but didnt want to say anything given her miscarriage. Im so happy she will get to have this pregnancy at home in CA with her mothet nearby and that she wont have to be paranoid about people around her leaking negative crap about her to the press like she did with Archie.

The British press will of course be aholes but she is 5k+ miles away from them and surrounded by people who love her in a country whose press for all their faults is not obsessed with demonizing and dehumanizing her. And given the fact that they pretty much bankrupted SplashnewsUK last year for flying drones over their house and taking pics of Archie i doubt anyone would be stupid enough to try to harass them at their home this time around.

    • lanne says:

They’ll try. I’ll bet the DM has flacks on a flight to LA as we speak. They really underestimated Harry. They really believed the RF fiction that he was the dim brother just because he was younger. At every turn, he and Meghan have outsmarted and outthought them. The rota rats could have had a whole career following the Sussexes had they been willing to play fair. Maybe some of them need to start polishing their resumes. How much royal news will there be if the Cambridges don’t do any work?If any of the grosser ones try to apply for jobs at us papers, I don’t think they’ll last long. The Sussex Squad will be on the case, and likely the Sussexes themselves would tell a magazine like People: we won’t talk to X person, or your magazine again if you send x person.

      • My Two Cents says:

lanne, I love that part, that Harry and Meghan have always been a step ahead and outsmarted them! They are left running behind, bewildered and incandescent with rage! and absolutely the RR need new jobs lol Kate’s one zoom call a week just isn’t cutting it.

    • Ginger says:

I thought the same when I saw the CNN spot and the pap pics of them in December confirmed it for me. I knew when she won her case they would probably announce she was pregnant . I love that they announced it on Valentines Day.

  23. Pixi says:

I’m just so happy for them! What beautiful news. Made my morning!

  24. Myra says:

I find myself grinning ear-to-ear when I read wonderful news about this couple. I’m really rooting for them. Congratulations to both of them and little Archie!

  25. Abby says:

This news made me scream in my house. So happy for them! When I realized Diana announced her pregnancy with Harry on Valentine’s as well I actually teared up.

So thrilled at this news and this precious photo.

  26. LoonyTunes says:

We don’t know WHEN the picture was taken. I’m hoping she spoke about her miscarriage well after it was over and she was already very pregnant. I’m betting they only have another month or so to go. Can’t wait for the new baby!

    • Becks1 says:

My guess is similar to yours – she was def already pregnant when the op-Ed came out, and probably past the 3 month mark. That would
Put her around 6 months now, so another May baby?

    • Yoyo says:

She said her miscarriage was in July 2020, she wrote about it at Thanksgiving, last week in November.

    • Liz version 700 says:

Possibly, but she is so tiny that she looked like she was carrying twins with Archie so it is hard to tell.

      • Elizabeth Phillips says:

After all the awful things they said when she was pregnant, I wondered if she wore a bullet-proof bump guard when she was pregnant. *I* sure would if there were nutjobs saying they were going to stab me in the stomach to prove I wasn’t really pregnant.

    • JanetDR says:

I also assumed that they were well into another pregnancy when she wrote that Op Ed and so delighted to have it confirmed! That picture is giving me life this morning 💗

  27. Bendy Windy says:

Aw! How wonderful. B’shaah tova! (May everything happen in good time).

I wonder, though, does she have to be in the UK for the birth?

    • lanne says:

I can’t think of any reason why that would be the case. Harry’s not the direct in line heir. It may simply be convention b/c that’s where royals live. I’m wondering if king George 6 hadn’t died so young, and now Queen Elizabeth had been able to live with Phillip in Malta for years during his posting, she would likely have had more kids while she was there. Maybe a rep from the king would need to be there?

    • Sofia says:

      She doesn’t.

  28. lanne says:

I’ll also bet they are further along than the pictures tell. That would be the smart move. They could go directly into a hospital in broad daylight for what people think is a normal checkup, and then sneak out the back with their baby and be home before anyone even knows!

    • Snuffles says:

People keep saying that but it’s probably not by that much. If she miscarried in July, the earliest I can imagine her getting pregnant again is in late August. I think she’s definitely past 5 months/20 weeks but no more than 6 months.

      • Over it says:

I agree with you, it’s so beautiful this picture and I love the love this man has for his wife and she for him. Hands down my favorite couple, they make you believe in fairy tales happily ever ever after

      • Elizabeth Phillips says:

Agreed. This looks like 5-6 months to me.

  29. Ginger says:

This is my favorite picture of them. It’s gorgeous and intimate. Harry with his shoes off, her head in his lap, it’s just beautiful and the photographer said he didn’t have them pose, this was just a moment between them. I really love how this photo was taken with an iPad. Congratulations to them! They deserve all of the happiness in the world.

  30. L4frimaire says:

I’m so happy for them and they look absolutely gorgeous in that photo. A sibling for Archie especially after the sadness of the miscarriage. I first suspected she was pregnant again when she did that CNN segment in that shiny blouse,. Her face and bust looked fuller. Definitely knew she was at the poetry zoom. They looked really happy and her face, especially her nose , looked bigger, which was the case of the first pregnancy too. The international reaction was so supportive and amazing. The UK was all in their feelings, especially since they just won the summary judgment, so they whine about privacy again.Someone said the palace knew but was not prepared for them to announce it, but some people on Twitter called that out for the BS it was, since they don’t speak for the Sussexes and the palace communications aren’t that stupid, although they want to give that poor them impression. They knew it would be announced. Thrilled for Meghan, Harry and Archie. I’m team girl or team twins, and she looks well along, so summer baby.

  31. I had a hunch that Meghan was pregnant when she and Harry were papped in Beverly Hills last December. Harry was wearing a casual long-sleeved shirt, while she was in a JCrew coat. I just thought she was so bundled up compared to Harry’s more relaxed get-up. But anyway I am so excited and ecstatic with the news. Upon waking up this morning I checked my phone and saw my sister’s message about Harry and Meghan’s pregnancy announcement. I was so thrilled and was beside myself. It made my day really. Wishing them good health and all the best. They deserve nothing less. Looking forward to the arrival of the new royal baby.

  32. Merricat says:

Lovely news! I suspect this pregnancy will be much easier without the British rags hanging around. H & M are finally free to write their own story, and what an amazing story it is!

    • harla says:

That’s what I thought too! Being on a different continent will make a world of difference for the Sussex’s. Not that they ever read the Daily Fail but being right there would have made it difficult to ignore, now they don’t have to worry about that!!

      • JT says:

And this time around Meghan’s name will stay on the birth certificate. It’s just insane that this will be a new experience for them to have: Rachel Meghan on the birth certificate.

  33. S808 says:

So so so happy for them!! The last zoom gave it away for me! She was glowing and her hair looked fuller! Wishing her a safe and peaceful pregnancy!

  34. Jessie says:

Posting from Scotland and while everyone I know is varying degrees of anti-monarchy we were all ECSTATIC when this news dropped last night! Despite everything the Sussexes have been through nobody can say that isn’t a couple madly in love. Beautiful photo, beautiful family.

  35. Snuffles says:

I’m kind of hoping they give the child a super hippie California name like Cloud, Rainbow or Bear. Just to drive the aristocracy crazy.

  36. harla says:

Wow!! This is such a joyous surprise!! I mean I figured she was pregnant back in December but honestly thought that they wouldn’t make any announcement until the baby was born. Congratulations to Meghan, Harry, Doria and Big Brother to-be Archie!! I’m so excited for them!!!

  37. RoyalBlue says:

Congratulations to the Sussexes and welcome to the new adventure of having two children on your hands. Wishing them a healthy and safe pregnancy.

  38. Sunday says:

Yayyyy! This photo is beautiful and they deserve all the happiness in the world. Congrats, Sussexes!

  39. Case says:

This is the happiest news. I wish them a safe and happy pregnancy!

  40. Eleonor says:

Wish them the best, this is an amazing news!

  41. Yoyo says:

The photographer said Meghan reminded him he introduced her to a friend of his, without that, she wouldn’t have met Harry. He wrote a touching piece about their loss. Apparently he use to about the tig on his website.
Even the designer that made/design this Carolina Herrera dress (Archie) post a story wrote about him in the tig.
Harry and Meghan made headlines all over World and so many tv stations and magazines here.
Someone said on Twitter that New Idea magazine in Australia this week edition are in the stores with Harry and Meghan split.

    • OzJennifer says:

Haha – really? I’ll have to pop by the supermarket tomorrow and sneak a look. But I wouldn’t be surprised. New Idea (No Idea) is trash of the most blatant “we made this up” kind.

  42. MsIam says:

So happy for them! I felt like it was a member of my own family, I was so excited, lol! Wishing them a wonderful stress free pregnancy and that everything goes smoothly and drama free.

  43. Belli says:

Such wonderful news, especially after their tragedy last year. And what a beautiful picture!

  44. NTheMiddle says:

I hope she rubs that belly like a damn genie lamp. No British press to snap and criticize every move. Wonderful news!

  45. mtec says:

Is it just me that see curls or semi dreads on Meghan’s hair? Or is it a trick of the light? Would be so cute to see it. Either way so beautiful.

    • Petra says:

I went for a fifth look. I think you’re correct. She does have some locks on the side front. Wow! this lock wearer is very excited.

    • Snuffles says:

My Mom said the same thing! She and her friends SWEAR she has some twists or locks going on!

Maybe she’s decided to go all natural like her Mom.

ETA: On second thought, it can’t be because her hair was straight during that poetry Zoom.

      • mtec says:

        @Snuffles
That’s what I thought too because of the zoom, but since some people think this photo was not taken recently and is actually a bit old, then perhaps she had twists or something for a little while when we didn’t see her 🤷🏽‍♀️ Haha i just thought it would be cute to see if true.

    • MsIam says:

I think its just from Harry running his fingers through her hair or playing with it.

  46. Petra says:

I woke up hubby with my screaming. Read it on CTV news page in Canada round 7am. I’m so happy for Meghan, Harry and Archie. May they all be well; and may they be in peace and health.

  47. Nev says:

    Congrats!!!!

  48. Lucy2 says:

    Congrats to them!
    Beautiful photo.

  49. MellyMel says:

Very happy for them!! It was obvious in the zoom call they did they other week…her face (especially her nose) gave it away. I hope she continues to have a healthy pregnancy and less stressful than the last now that she’s here in the states.

  50. MerryGirl says:

The best Valentine’s Day news ever. I’m so happy and overjoyed that she will get to relax and have this baby in peace in the USA. What a glorious photo, it screams love, peace, joy and happiness. Congratulations Harry and Meghan

  51. Beach Dreams says:

SO happy for them, especially after the news about last summer! I hope Meghan gets to have the peaceful and relaxing pregnancy that was denied her the first time around. May she have a safe delivery and healthy baby!

  52. Harper says:

Congratulations to the Sussexes! Here’s to a safe delivery and a healthy baby. That smile on Harry’s face is so genuine. Not at all like a hostage.

  53. Aphra says:

SUPER AMAZING! They never fail to surprise and please this fan! xoxoxoxo

  54. Charfromdarock says:

    Congratulations to them!

I hope she has a healthy and peaceful pregnancy.

  55. TheOriginalMia says:

I screamed “I knew it!”. So very happy for them. The picture is gorgeous. I’m thrilled they announced how and when they wanted to. I’m thrilled they’ve had the chance to enjoy these months without comment from their families and the BM. I wish them peace and love and a stress-free trimester because I bet she’s due in June.

  56. Julia K says:

Whine and cheese pairs well with sour grapes

  57. BC says:

Beautiful couple, great news! Love em!

  58. Midnight@theOasis says:

This news made the front page of the Washington Post!

Congratulations to Harry and Meghan! So very happy for them and pray she has a relaxing and safe pregnancy and delivery. Such a beautiful photo and love the way they announced the pregnancy…on their own terms.

  59. Julia K says:

    Cancel my comment please

  60. Izzy says:

Really happy for this news. Also, thank you to the CB team for booting trolls off this site so quickly.

  61. Loretta says:

    I’m so happy for them!

  62. Jais says:

So happy! And even though the chances of this ever happening are slim, imagine if Meghan had a baby girl on July 1st!

  63. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

I’m overwhelmed with delight for them – not the Royal Family’s version of delight, but truly over the moon. I’m so glad that they have such happiness and mutual adoration.
Bet Buttons is hammering away at PwT with cries of ‘she can’t have another until I do! We need more of our own in the line of succession! Give me Number Four now!’ while PwT, who smells suspiciously of Tuber Rose, has a god-almighty tantrum.

  64. Liz version 700 says:

That picture is gorgeous. They are the vision of my mom’s favorite saying…living well is the best revenge. They are beautiful and I couldn’t be happier that they are making Archie a big brother. Both kids now safely eligible for American passports and this baby will have a CA birth certificate so even the Prince of Incadescence can’t mess with them.

  65. Nina Simone says:

They deserve this happiness !!!!! Congratulations to them. The poetry zoom confirmed it for me but I did not speculate. I’m
Petty and was expecting them to have the baby end then announce it. 😄

But I am so glad she will have this pregnancy away from the trash BM and RF. Also the fact that not even Charles was informed until last minute? he’s really failed as a father and husband. Will he do the reflection?

Also how can a picture be taken remotely ? I’ve been trying to understand that

    • Ravine says:

I think it can mean one of two things:

      1) The photographer was observing proper social distancing rules. Kind of obvious from the picture itself, but H&M are so often the targets of criticism for minor (or just hypothetical) slip-ups that they feel the need to tell us explicitly.

      2) It’s possibly to do certain kinds of surgery remotely now (with robotic assistance), so it’s entirely possible that internet-connected cameras and tripods exist, allowing a photographer to control the camera and snap pictures from across the world. Assuming that this technology indeed exists, that might be what they mean.

  66. Sojaschnitzel says:

This makes me genuinely happy. What wonderful news. I don’t even like kids, but this is just beautiful.

  67. Catherine says:

This announcement should also thankfully put a stop to the Harry is desperate to return home and is planning for a return. The UK media have been predicting return since Before Christmas and claiming they knew his thoughts and plans. Even after the Sussexes released a statement saying any Reports plans for travel in June were speculative and presumptuous they continued with their Harry will return narratives. Clearly, there is no way Harry was even considering traveling given Meghan’s pregnancy and all the complications of travel restrictions and required quarantines. It’s ludicrous to me that they are even still talking about having trooping. As for Diana’s statue commemoration if Harry can’t be there the ceremony will be postponed like so many other things have been postponed. Remember this statue was actually originally planned for years ago but was cancelled because they didn’t like the original artist’s work. So it’s not like the fact that it’s her 60th birthday this year means that it has to happen exactly on July 1st.

  68. Elizabeth says:

    So beautiful! Very good news!

  69. Bettyrose says:

All I hope for them is a healthy pregnancy and baby. I’ve not so secretly wanted a little mini Meghan for them but regardless of the baby’s gender at birth a baby can grow up to be anyone in this new world of ours. I’m excited for their family.

  70. Over it says:

How bad ass would it have been if Harry and Megs had given birth, gone home and sent out a press release a few days later, we had another baby , family was informed of the birth. That would really give those salty racist British reporters and the stuffy palace and the rest of them something to bitch about. Lmao.

    • Bettyrose says:

I agree but I wouldn’t wish it on Meghan that she can’t be seen in public for months. Even a girl in a lavish estate needs the occasional coffee run to feel sane.

    • RoyalBlue says:

Nah, they would have said she used a surrogate and a bunch of other lies.

  71. Lucky Charm says:

Such a beautiful picture! Congratulations to them and their family. I hope it’s a little girl, named Delia Frances. Wishing them a peaceful, happy and healthy pregnancy and birth.

  72. Jezebel's Lacefront says:

Wonderful news! Congrats! I wish them peace and love.

  73. Nyro says:

First off, congrats to the Sussexes. I actually squealed with delight for them. I root for them like I root for the Obamas. It’s something about seeing decent people thriving and driving racists insane that appeals to me. And shout out to the sussex squad for not publicly speculating this time. The photo is gorgeous and they look amazing and so freakin’ happy!

That said, I am presently surprised to see so much of the general public online pushing back hard against UK journalists and media who are attacking Meghan today. Emily Andrews is getting a her ass kicked all over Twitter. Piers is getting dragged. British reporters who don’t even cover the royals but chose to shit on Meghan today are getting dragged. The royal family are getting dragged. People are going off and I love it!

I think the BM has really crossed the line with this one. We live in the age of social media. Pretty much everyone on the planet is familiar with an online pregnancy announcement, a cute photo of the couple celebrating. We’ve all shared happy moments and milestones with the world, thanks to social media. It’s not some royal or Hollywood stuff. It’s literally something everyone relates to. And no one believes that just because you post a pregnancy announcement on Facebook, that now it should be open season and we have the right to know every detail of your life! Just because someone posts a pic of their graduation, it doesn’t give the media the right to go digging for their college transcripts and putting them in the front page of the newspaper. Just because you post a pic of your kid’s birthday party, it doesn’t give the media the right to sneak into your backyard and start taking pics of your kid through his or her bedroom window. They’re trashing the Sussexes and demanding access to them for something that everyone does and people are really seeing how sick it all is now.

March 31 can’t come soon enough. HM are going to soar! The general public are turning into full on sussex squaddies thanks to the BM totally unhinged response to a typical social media era pregnancy photo. That’s bad news for the Royal family. Very bad news.

    • Maevo says:

Well said! Their desire for privacy means they want to control what information about their lives is public, not that they want to be hermits and never be seen ever again. The press acting like it’s the latter are being willfully obtuse and disingenuous.

    • Totally awesome post Nyro. It’s like Lainie says in her recent posts about Brittany Spears and what she wrote years ago and how she reports now: “When you know better, you should do better.” Grow, learn, change…none of these people dragging everyone for every thing needs to stay in that nasty, negative, soul-shriveling mindset. We can all do better.

  74. Lilly (with the double-L) says:

Later, I’ll be able to dive into, what are sure to be, the usual great commentary here. But, I had to say how happy this made me for them. Good things for good people is such a balm for my soul, that I probably took for granted, somewhat, pre-2016. Both for people I know and those in the public sphere.

  75. minny says:

    It’s Oprah Time!

  76. You Know Me says:

Wonderful news. I love then. Pretty sure the folks at dlisted are angry & crying out. Their hate for this beautiful couple is an illness.

    • Lanie says:

See also: the white women pretending to be black over on Lipstick Alley.

    • swirlmamad says:

Yeah, I stopped reading dlisted for the most part because of all the nasty comments they would post about H&M over there (that and it’s not the same with all the new bloggers, most of which aren’t as funny as MK.)

      • You Know Me says:

I don’t post there as it’s very toxic. Seems to be a core group that attack other posters & find glee is doing so. After ‘shopping’ around for a site I feel comfortable with both the stories and the people posting. It feels ‘gentle’ & welcoming here.

  77. Dierski says:

Awww, YAY!!! Such wonderful news! I’m so happy for them and their sweet growing family.

  78. BnLurkN4eva says:

I’m so happy for them. They so deserve a peaceful pregnancy and it was actually nice of them to share because after last time, I’m sure they wanted to stay hidden for as long as possible, but they know there are people out here wishing them well and would be happy to share in their good news. Also, I am sure they are aware of all the conspiracy theories that would resume, (not that some stopped) if Meghan wasn’t see pregnant and perhaps even some royal oddity that requires them to announce. Congratulations to them, a win against the BM and now this happy announcement.

  79. M.A.F. says:

Super cute photo, glad for them….except for Harry’s big foot being the center of attention. I do not like feet, all feet are gross, and my eyes go directly to his huge foot and toe. yuck.

    But every cute photo.

  80. A says:

I am so happy for them. They must be over the moon about being able to add to their family and putting down roots in California of all places. I am so glad that they’re focusing on what to do next and how to move on.

  81. Marni112 says:

Happy for them but didn’t Harry make a public statement people should only be having one child -at the time people thought it was a slam towards W and C.

    • mtec says:

Harry mentioned to Jane Goodall he would consider having two kids at most.

    • Oh says:

Harry didn’t say that people should only be having one child. He was talking about himself. He said that his attitude towards the planet has changed after the arrival of Archie, but he was always wanting to try and ensure that even before having a child. Then Jane Goodall said: “Not too many,” Harry responded: “Two, maximum.”

    • Andrea says:

And honestly Meghan is my age—39. I am turning 40 this year as is she. The older we women get, the more issues one can have with pregnancies. I have added issues and would need IVF and at this juncture, it is too late for me. I think they will be 2 and done.

  82. K says:

I LOVE that this amazing woman of color who took so much grief has given a Prince his freedom. I realize Harry is a grown man and has come a long way from spoiled youth on his own but let’s face it. She has freed him and their children. She has the heart of a lion.

  83. Tessa says:

So predictable, Meghan is accused of “upstaging” Eugenie by the critics.

  84. paddingtonjr says:

I have never met H&M, yet I happy-cried as I read the wonderful news! H&M always seem so comfortable and natural in pretty much every setting, it’s easy to forget that they are not my old friends 🙂 Just looking at them as a couple and with Archie, they just exhude contentment and true joy. I wish every happiness to Harry, Meghan and Archie!!

  85. Evilbun says:

Probably not a typical take but I am so scared for Harry and Meghan. The British people are so thoroughly brainwashed, and go to such extreme lengths to sabotage anything she does. I worry for her. I some what grieve too, for her being so thoroughly bullied as the first modern woc to enter that space. Their detractors are all so unrelentingly toxic. Every action they do seems to be from bad faith

    • RoyalBlue says:

and that’s what they want. them to be afraid, and scare them into inaction. we cannot let the BM win.

  86. Gingerbee says:

Congratulations to Meghan and Harry, I am so excited for them. I was listening to a podcast on Sunday, when someone broke the happy news. We were all excited, and the host was crying tears of happiness.
