Prince Harry is ‘isolating’ in case he needs to fly to the UK to see Prince Philip

Anzac Day Service of Commemoration

Prince Philip – the Duke of Edinburgh – was admitted into a London hospital a few days ago. The Palace stressed that his ill health is not coronavirus-related, and that he checked into the hospital because he was feeling poorly in general, and he’s there for rest and observation. As I said, I would imagine that a 99-year-old man who has lived a very full and active life has many age-related health issues, but we really don’t know. I feel sorry for Philip, even knowing his problematic past. The man wanted to retire to Wood Farm and be left alone. Because of the pandemic, he’s been moved around several times and he’s had to navigate Windsor Castle and a “bubble” for months.

I kept waiting for the British media to explicitly blame the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for Philip’s hospitalization. While it’s been inferred in several articles, no one has actually come out and said “Philip is in the hospital because of Harry’s Oprah interview!” They still found another way to bring it around to Harry though:

Prince Harry is understood to be self-isolating in his LA mansion with Meghan Markle and baby Archie so he can race back to Britain if Prince Philip’s condition worsens, it’s reported. The Duke of Sussex, 36, is said to be sheltering from Covid at the couple’s California home while his grandfather is in hospital so he can fly home at short notice if Philip deteriorates.

Harry has made plans to fly back to the UK by private jet and is being kept “regularly informed” of Prince Philip’s health, the Mirror reports. Prince Philip, 99, fell ill at Windsor Castle on Tuesday and was rushed to London’s King Edward Hospital as a precaution. His condition is not Covid related.

Harry would be tested before leaving the US and once he returns, The Mirror understands. The US could be set to join England’s quarantine “red list” of countries, it was reported on Thursday. All travel between the countries would be banned, with Brits returning home forced to fork out up to £1,750 for a 10-night stay at a quarantine hotel. But members of the royal family enjoy special dispensation to travel so Harry wouldn’t have to self-isolate on arrival in Britain if he tested negative, it’s reported.

A source told The Mirror: “Harry is of course concerned for his grandfather’s welfare and is being kept regularly informed on his condition. He has chosen to stay in case he is required to return to the UK at short notice.”

[From The Sun]

I’ll be completely honest: I doubt Harry would fly to the UK if Philip merely remained hospitalized indefinitely. But… if Philip passed away, I do think that Harry would fly home. As he should, honestly? The Windsor clan is completely terrible, but Harry would absolutely try to make it back to attend a grandparent’s funeral. But no, Harry won’t fly back if his 100-year-old grandfather is merely getting tests done. I mean, Charles, William and the Queen aren’t even visiting Philip, and they all live a lot closer to the hospital.

I love how they had to be sure to mention “by private jet”. The passive-aggressiveness will never end. But I don’t believe a word of this anyway.

    • Amy Bee says:

I took another way. Mentioning a private jet means that the press never had an issue with Harry using them, it was just used to attack him and Meghan.

      • Becks1 says:

I always thought the private jet controversy was twofold –

first, it was something that “stuck” – meaning it gained a lot of traction and gave them something easy to use to attack Harry and Meghan –

and second, the reason it “stuck” wasnt bc of Harry’s stance on the environment, it was because people did not think the black duchess should be flying on a private jet. They really did not think she deserved that.

  2. Devs says:

With all the effort the RF has gone through to pretend that demonic racist Philip is still alive you would think they would at least put some make up on him.
There is no way he’s still alive, he’s been dead for years! Look at him!
Harry shouldn’t waste the trip, what if Philip bites him???

    • Over it says:

Lmaoff at your comments. Lol. It’s good to see that I am not alone in thinking he is the picture of the living dead.

    • heygingersnaps says:

Hahaha. His teeth gives me nightmares, you have all the money in the world and yet leave your teeth in that state! =/

      • manda says:

it goes along with Anne’s shabby sitting room

      • Larisa says:

American obsession with perfect teeth is annoying.

      • Bloemheks says:

@Larisa As an American without perfect teeth I wholeheartedly agree. Most Americans do not have perfect teeth. We still spend billions in the quest. We’re about to pay for a 3rd child to have braces she really does not need, but it’s socially required. What’s crazy is the smaller amount of work she is going to have done is $2500, but the substantial amount of work the other 2 had done was $3000. It just illustrates that it’s sort of a flat rate of a TON of money no matter how much or how little they do and if you want any help from insurance you have to pay for special orthodontic insurance policy which covers very little. I can’t stand the years-long lead-up to braces. You get this carefully drawn-out sales pitch where you’ve basically committed to doing at least “something” no matter how extensive it ends up being. Apparently that something is always around $3000,

    • Aidevee says:

Making fun of the elderly – classy.

    • Wickster says:

Wow. Let’s see what you look like at 99. What a vile comment.

      • BabsORIG says:

Meh, honestly Phillip can rest now, he’s lived a good life, 99 years that God has blessed him with is 20 years too long. He can die now, lots of younger people have passed and the world still spinning on its axis; obladi oblada, life goes on. And Phillip’s been a racist AF a$$hat all his life so please let’s not pretend. People have a right to feel a certain way about these freakin racist colonizers and especially this man that would always demand to have an indigenous woman availed to him to rape every time he traveled to some people-of-color-land. And yes, these indigenous women were raped because sex with ole Phil was always against their will. You can miss me with all this your “he’s 99 so nothing can be said about him” nonsense. Where was all this your outrage the PHILLIP was making fun of us POC because of the way we were created?

      • Vaca says:

Yeah, jeez, what a bunch of nice ladies on this website. So much respect for the elderly.

    • Mila says:

His flesh gives me nightmares I feel like it would peel off if I touched it, like some sort of sticky goo from a horrible 80s sci-fi movie, blergh 🤢

  3. Snuffles says:

    Complete BS.

Yeah, I can see Harry coming back for a funeral, but I’m even iffy on that.

Meanwhile, the rest of the family is acting like it’s business as usual. I mean, yes, Philip is super old and anything can happen, I just don’t think he’s rapidly declining at the moment.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

With Covid, how would they even have a big funeral? People won’t be allowed to crowd the streets for a processional; I’m sure it’d even be limited family at a burial.

And of course, ALL the stories will be of how the “stress” of the H&M departure, and now the closing of “that” door, will be what put the “final nail” in the coffin (not that he’s 99!).

      • Spanky says:

And how his biggest sorrow before he died was the fact that he hadn’t held little Archie in his arms in over a year.

  4. Who ARE these people? says:

It won’t be long now but I hope there’s time for Harry to be there for his new family first, plus vaccination all around.

Also would a big state funeral be warranted in a pandemic? They could still put on a dignified show that respects public safety. Or delay a memorial until later. Families everywhere have had to mourn differently this year and the Windsors should be no exception.

    • Desert Lizard says:

The RF hasn’t exactly been conscious of COVID precautions so if he dies soon and there is not a big state funeral, I think it will have more to do with optics than respecting public safety. The COVID tour of Scotland and so many maskless pictures of the RF have said they don’t care about anybody else. As mad as Betty was over her staff taking care of themselves at Christmas, will she be incandescent with rage if her adoring husband doesn’t get a state funeral with the works? That’s how I imagine it. After all, he’s entitled to it, right? *massive eye roll*

      • Amy Too says:

Yeah, this little tidbit bugged the crap out of me:

“But members of the royal family enjoy special dispensation to travel so Harry wouldn’t have to self-isolate on arrival in Britain if he tested negative, it’s reported.”

And not about Harry, specifically, but just the fact that they get a special pass to travel when their jobs ARE NOT VITAL. This is how will and Kate got to do a pandemic tour. This is how Charles got to go Scotland when he had already tested positive. This is how the Cambridges and the wessexes got to travel out of their own cities and counties during lockdown so they could meet up and go look at the lights. This confirms the the RF is likely still going on international vacations whenever they want and maybe that’s why will and Kate disappear for awhile and come back looking tan.

How is this allowed? It seriously just seems like a perk that has everything to do with being privileged jerks who think they’re better than everyone and deserve vacations and travel and nothing to do with their jobs and travel being necessary. They get special treatment just because they’ve convinced everyone they’re special.

      • Lorelei says:

@Amy Too ITA, and I also feel like as long as this rule exists, Harry being allowed to fly back to see his grandfather one last time is one of the ONLY acceptable uses for it. But the BRF has abused it throughout the entire pandemic, culminating with the ridiculous train tour, so if Harry uses it now for an actual legitimate reason, he’ll still be sort of lumped in with the others who knowingly took advantage of it.

    • Mila says:

I assume it will be like that Remembrance Day service or something. Pulled back but they will still have lots of people there and it will be have lots of press coverage

  5. STRIPE says:

Montecito isn’t in LA. It’s several hours away. But why let’s that get in the way of the British press’ obsession with “Hollywood Harry”?

    • Anne Call says:

I know, that really bugs me. It’s like saying that someone who lives in Philadelphia has a NYC home. But yeah, LA sounds more frivolous. They could just say Southern California home.

    • Lorelei says:

I think most (normal, reasonable) people say it out of practicality simply because Los Angeles is the closest major city.

The moronic BM runs with it so that they can milk the whole stupid “Hollywood Harry” thing and use it to mock him.

    • Genessee says:

I wouldn’t say several hours. LOL.

It’s less than 90 miles from Hollywood, where I’m at. It’s about an hour and a half away. MAX two hours if traveling during really heavy traffic. My ex went to UC Santa Barbara and that college is about 15 miles north of Montecito and it used to take me around that time to get from my home to his dorm.

For some comparison, Las Vegas is about 275 miles away from me. That trip takes me anywhere from 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours depending on how fast I drive and/or traffic. Now THAT’s a several hours drive. 🙂

But yeah, the Santa Barbara area does get looped into the L.A. area descriptors a lot. Like Disneyland in Orange County.

      • Anne Call says:

I live in Sb and I can get to Malibu and Santa Monica in 75-90 minutes. Anything once you hit traffic on 101 or 405 adds another 45-60 minutes. My son used to live downtown and I would get to valley pretty fast and than take forever to get to DTLA. There’s a reason Oprah wanted a heli-pad put in on her Montecito house (SB said no). Traffic to LA can really suck. Also I live in Santa Barbara not LA.

      • Alexandria says:

        @Genessee, Anne Call….I just remembered SNL California😀

    • Bloemheks says:

It doesn’t bother me. He’s living in an area where a lot of people in the entertainment industry who work in LA live. I think the connotation is he’s living out there with the Hollywood set, not necessarily living in LA.

  6. Becks1 says:

So I do think if his condition took a turn for the worse Harry would fly home, and I think if he died Harry absolutely would fly home, but I wouldnt expect there to be a funeral right away – not a public one anyway. I bet there would be a private (relatively small) family funeral and then a bigger service in a few months if things have improved. I’m sure the pre-pandemic plans for Phillip’s death involved a large funeral with international attendees and I cant see the Queen doing away with that entirely .

  7. Susan says:

So….if this is legit information from a reliable Sussex source and not fanfic…sounds like Phillip is not in good shape and probably going to pass soon. Does anyone else read it this way?

    • Amy Bee says:

No, I think the reporter is speculating what would be required if Harry was to decide to visit Phillip. The Sussexes have no relationship with the Mirror so the paper can only assume what could happen and it probably asked BP for its thoughts. But it has written in way to make the public believe that Harry is really considering this. I don’t think he is. Harry would not have self-isolate at his own home to visit his grandfather in another country. He’d have get tested and then quarantine for ten days upon arrival in the UK.

    • Snuffles says:

No, it’s pure speculation as usual. Same old language they use for all their other speculative articles.

    • liz says:

He’s 99 years old. Every hospitalization is a major event and raises the possibility of the person passing. The longer he is in the hospital, the less likely it is that he will leave.

    • HeyJude says:

I mean he’s 99. He’s basically on permanent going to pass soon watch regardless if it’s right this moment.

  8. newmenow says:

OK, after all thats been discussed about H&M exiting, Phil is still his GrandDad.
I’m sure if PPhil is in dire times Harry does want to see him before he passes.

The BRF is fighting to hold their fat jobs. Which is why Liz is cutting off all of Harrys “official” titles, duties, patronages, etc.

Liz and Phil are old, not just elderly. I would like to think they are human enough that they would be happy for Harry to visit them in person. If I was pregnant and covid, I would not travel.

Britain gave us James Bond. Surely Harry would be able to slip in and see PP on the quiet, no?

Love H&M response of “We can all live a life of service” true, true.
Every one can offer to help another, or give a donation to a service of their choice.

    • Lorelei says:

I think Harry would probably want to see Philip one more time before he passes, but it would be unimaginably awkward for him to have to face his grandmother after everything that’s happened recently. She’s treated him so poorly and if I were him I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with her anytime soon.
I’m sure Harry would behave appropriately no matter what, but it must be hard to face looking her in the eye after the way she’s sh!t on him recently.

    • Lady D says:

“Liz and Phil are old, not just elderly” I have a pair of cats that will be 17 in 10 weeks. I no longer call them old, they are now known as my antiques.

  9. Jane says:

Hmmm. In the UK at the moment we’re in lockdown under stay at home orders and anyone who isn’t a key worker isn’t actually allowed to travel. And we’re certainly not allowed to travel abroad, whether for a holiday or a family visit. And people who want to travel into the UK are legally required to self-isolate in quarantine hotels for ten days. So I call bullshit on this. (And just for perspective, my grandfather is currently dying of cancer in England but I live in Scotland so I can’t go and see him.)

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

Sorry about your granddad Jane, my sister died earlier in the pandemic (wow last year). Our extended family lives here in Ireland and she her hubby and kids live in the UK. We couldn’t see her either, couldn’t attend the funeral and had to watch it on a web stream from the chapel. It was tough seeing her family on camera and not being there to support them. It’s so tough, sending you and your family a handhold for this difficult time.

    • Becks1 says:

I’m sorry about your grandfather 🙁

I was thinking the same thing about the travel rules but the article says that the royal family does not have to quarantine, but its the Sun, so may not be true.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

So very sorry for your situations, and your losses. A friend of mine (an ex pat who lives in Spain) had to watch his father be buried in England over Zoom; they wouldn’t let him accompany his dad’s body back for burial. I can’t even imagine.

As far as TRF (who are IN England), I’m SURE they’ve all been vaccinated already on the down low, probably pretty early on, as soon as the vaccines were available (Petty, PP, Charles, Cam, Can’t and Won’t, and most likely Pedo, Clueless Eddie and their fams as well; wouldn’t surprise me at all).

  10. Nic919 says:

I am sure that he can communicate with Phillip by phone or zoom right now and it’s weird that Harry has to plan a visit, but William, Charles or any of the ones on the same country don’t visit and no one says anything.

    • Arpeggi says:

I doubt hospital visits are allowed at this point, even the BRF. Chuck is 70, Liz in her 90s: hospitals aren’t exactly safe for them even with vaccination and the staff don’t have time to deal with BRF protocols. It’s probably some sort of phone/zoom for everyone

  11. Amy Bee says:

This story is total BS and what has happened today confirms that it’s not true.

    • Becks1 says:

What happened today? (I mean besides the palace statement, lol.)

      • Amy Bee says:

I’m talking about the palace and Sussex’s statements coming out today. It confirms that Philip is not dire straits and that Harry is probably not thinking of visiting his family anytime soon.

      • Becks1 says:

Ah okay I see your point. I was wondering if I had missed something (like Phillip leaving the hospital or whatever.)

    • Elle says:

      Yeah, it’s nonsense.

No matter how many private planes he takes to get there quickly, or how long he self isolates in California, he’d still have to self isolate at the England end, anyway.

      It’s not even plausible.

Oh, and just to sprinkle extra bullshit on top, “the royal family get special dispensation to travel” – is that how W&K managed the magical mystery totally non contagious choo choo tour?

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I’d bet everything that ALL of them (incl. Pedo, Missing Ed, and their families) have had the vaccine by now.

  12. Over it says:

Well if Harry were to take a private plane after being heavily criticized by the asshole British press for it just to come see that corpse, I too would be mad at Harry. He needs to stay with his young son and pregnant wife, plus he needs to work, it could take months for grandpa to die or recover. Or whatever the walking dead is. Stay home Harry. Let the petties visit their own .

  13. sandy says:

he looks so much like a zombie

  14. Cecilia says:

The UK needs to stop with the fanfics. Harry is currently living his best life.

    • Mila says:

Literally I know Harry is sitting on his couch today reading this fan fic laughing and playing with Archie! 🤣🤣

  15. Yoyo says:

    Why would Harry be isolating?
For Harry going to England unvaccinated would not be the smartest thing to do.
COVID vaccines are not recommend for pregnant women.
After suffering a miscarriage, both of them have to be on tenterhooks with every little hiccup.

    • Notafan says:

Just a small thing. COVID vaccines are absolutely recommended for pregnant women, per the CDC and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Yes, it was on CNN and the even on the local news this morning. Vaccines ARE recommended for pregnant woman; there *has* been documented: babies having Covid at birth.

    • Anne Call says:

Yoyo-Good rule of thumb during a pandemic, check before you state medical information online and stop repeating “medical facts” that you read on Facebook.

      • M says:

In defence of yoyo, she might not necessarily be in the US and advice to pregnant women differs across the globe, as per WHO:However due to insufficient data, WHO does not recommend the vaccination of pregnant women at this time. In case a pregnant woman has an unavoidable risk high of exposure (e.g. a health worker), vaccination may be considered in discussion with their healthcare provider.
As far as I know Europe is following that recommendation at the moment, in assessing pregnant women on comorbitities and high risk of exposurr, if they are offered vaccinations at all, in my country we are currently only vaccinating the elderly and he care staff, so the percentage of pregnant women this is relevant to is fairly small

      • Mercury says:

@Anne, you do know that some people live outside of America right? 6.6 billipn people live on the globe in various parts of the world. In Canada, the covid vaccine is absolutely NOT recommended for pregnant women. Take this from a Canadian woman who is 8 months pregnant.

    • HeyJude says:

In the US at least, being pregnant gives Meghan priority to receive the COVID vaccine actually. And it’s very much approved for the pregnant here and being given out widely to them in many states (I’m not sure about California’s classification of pregnancy in their state shot stage however, but it’s one of the CDC’s listed special conditions so they will go ahead of the general public whenever CA does them)- both the Pfizer and Moderna versions.

I’ve received the vaccine and saw the paperwork for it referring to pregnancy as condition for priority myself. A pregnant relative is currently awaiting an appointment for theirs too.

  16. SarahCS says:

This reads as a pre-emptive strike so that if Phillip deteriorates/dies and Harry doesn’t come it can be ‘he wanted to but M said no’ or some other nonsense.

I had to miss my aunt’s funeral in September because you could only have six people present and it would have been grossly irresponsible to travel from the South West to Scotland during a pandemic. It sucks but this is what we need to do for everyone’s benefit at the moment.

    • Snuffles says:

      Exactly.

I imagine if Philip dies, this is how it will go down. A small private funeral with the Queen and his 4 children.

Then this summer they will have an official memorial service where the public can join in, presuming most are vaccinated by then.

    • Isabella Saxon says:

Wow, they really hate Meghan. She is identified merely as Meghan Markle, a woman Harry “lives with.” Not his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, or the mother of Archie. She and Harry said to be a “couple.” These omissions have to be deliberate. The writer literally wrote around her. That isn’t easy.

  17. paddyjr says:

I would think Harry has had a plan to return to the UK for an emergency or funeral for some time now. His grandparents are in their late 90s and Charles is in his 70s; given the current crisis, he would want to make sure he could get to them quickly.

    • Mila says:

Yep, but the press just wanted to drag this out into a long boring story as if it isn’t obvious anyway!

  18. Elizabeth says:

A tad off topic, but I loathe how the British press is always mentioning Harry and Meghan’s “mansion.” I mean it’s their home and the press is using that term to try and paint them as out of touch or elitist or gauche or … something.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

As if multiple palaces and country “piles” AREN’T!

    • Becks1 says:

Yes, Harry and Meghan live in a mansion, Kate and William live in a “country house” or “estate.” I think there was even a story the other day about them using the “house” at Sandringham. Like….the huge mansion at Sandringham? And they use terms like the Queen resides “at Windsor” but seem to usually leave off the “castle” part of that.

    • Over it says:

Exactly, they are paying for their home unlike the leeches in the palaces sucking the tax payers dry while they hide all their wealth.

    • Anne Call says:

It’s also inaccurately described as a LA mansion, when they live 100 miles from LA. But LA makes it seem more frivolous.

    • Jo says:

I mean, I can’t say I take offense to the characterization of a house we are led to believe has 15 (?) bathrooms as a mansion. It is their home, they paid for it fair and square with their money, but it doesn’t negate the fact it is a mansion ? Per Webster’s, ‘a large and impressive house, the large house of a wealthy person’.
I would agree that the press isn’t innocent in their choice of wording, and that yes people should be reminded that the RF lives in palaces at every turn. That applies to the whole lot of their ‘houses’ and ‘cottages’. As the very recent owner of a less than 1,000 sq/2 actual cottage, I think one should call a spade a spade.

      • Becks1 says:

@Jo that is exactly the point. Its not that they should use some simple term to refer to their mansion – it is a mansion, and that’s fine – but its more that they go out of their way to avoid using similar terms to describe the homes where the other royals live. Like even Will and Kate at KP – they call it Apt 1A (which I know is technically what it is, but isnt it three stories with 8 bedrooms or something? Its not really an “apartment” the way most of us think of one.)

    • Gabby says:

I agree. And they ALWAYS state the price of it. I never read anything about “the queen and her 100 million pound castle” or whatever the hell it’s worth.

  19. Case says:

If he passes away during the pandemic, I’m not sure it’s best for Harry to return home. I get that it’s his grandfather, but flying there, staying a week, and then having to come home and isolate for two weeks is a lot, and a risk, while Meghan is pregnant (and I assume her pregnancy could very well be considered high-risk because of age and the previous miscarriage).

My dad’s parents live almost 20 hours away from me. If something happened to one of them before vaccines are widely distributed, their children would drive down for a funeral, but spouses and grandkids wouldn’t go. We’d do a virtual memorial. Too much risk. That’s just how things are being done right now.

    • Mila says:

If he passes away into the later months of Meghan pregnancy, if we are saying she is likely due june-July he wouldn’t go, I don’t think Harry want to risk the birth of his child or having his wife give birth alone in a pandemic.

  20. Elizabeth says:

I have to say if I and my mother had been treated as badly by my grandparents as Harry and his mother were, I wouldn’t fly across an ocean in the middle of a pandemic to see my loathsome family at a funeral. Harry doesn’t owe that racist old man anything.

  21. Jenny says:

I’m not sure he’d be allowed back into the US? Or maybe so. I’m in the process of applying for a green card and if I leave, I have been told in no uncertain terms that it will be thrown out and they could very well my current visa.

    • Bloemheks says:

@Jenny Harry is likely here on a diplomatic visa. He’s also wealthy and contributing millions to the US economy with business ventures. The Governor of CA called to personally welcome them to CA. I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you’ve never received a similar call. Like it or not he lives by a different set of rules, hence why he can travel to the UK and not have to isolate for 10 days.

  22. MsIam says:

Lots of regular people who live in the same area are not able to attend their loved ones funerals due to COVID. Its an extraordinary time and why are they acting like life should go on as normal for the royals and not for everyone else? This press is batsh!!t crazy.

  23. observing says:

It might not be hard for someone in his position to isolate. I get that he wouldn’t be able to see his wife but in general I don’t think this is a hard thing for a rich person with lots of space in the house to do. Since he’s British, he’d be in line for the vaccine there too. They seem to be moving pretty quickly over there. The number of vaccinations taking place seem higher over there relative to other countries. (Or maybe he’d get it in California soon, assuming things aren’t that slow. I’m not sure how the whole system works for non-citizens and non-permanent residents, but I assume they wouldn’t be told no.)

The rollout of the vaccine in the US has been a little crazy. In several places it often comes down to someone in the know giving you a tip that you can get it in this location or that on such day. They’ve done a few stories on the chaos, especially in NY. I’m not sure how it is in CA, but they seem to be rolling it out pretty quickly. I have no doubt they could jump the line if they wanted to. Choosing not to would be an ethical andor PR decision.

edited to add: Looks like Schwarzenegger already received it. In the US I think they are encouraging public figures to get vaccinated because there is so much vaccine paranoia. We don’t have the same culture of cueing the British do. Being accused of unfairly jumping the line isn’t being seen as wrong. They’re doing a public service by getting it and announcing they have to the public.

Ahhh I didn’t see this post at first and typed this ridiculously long comment on a different story, when it really belongs here:

I apologize if this sounds crass, but I hope he doesn’t die this week because the media (in their warped view) currently has too much “ammunition” to try and claim that the Sussexes and their actions ruined his final years, and sent him, heartbroken, into an early grave. Of course every single one of us here knows this is complete bullsh!t since he’s a frail 99–year-old man, but it could still be hurtful for Harry to have that insinuation out there, even if the logical part of his brain knows that it is absolutely untrue.

I understand that no matter what, when both Philip and the Queen pass away, they’re going to find ways to spin it into somehow making it Harry & Meghan’s fault because that’s just how they operate now. I mean, these people blamed Meghan for drought FTLOG. But this week in particular, they’d be braying nonstop about all of the stress caused to Philip by the court case, being “blindsided” (🙄) by the pregnancy announcement, the “concerns” about the Oprah interview, and the realization, once and for all, that Harry is not coming back. (Which the rest of the world — with the exception of his own family, apparently — already knew, but I digress.)

When it does finally happen, I hope it’s at least during a quiet-ish period for the Sussexes so that the media won’t have quite as many immediate reasons to grab at to heap blame on them. They’ll find an angle no matter what (for sure, with both Phil and Betty, they’ll go with “The Sussexes ruined their final years with the upset and sadness they caused” and “They died heartbroken at not being able to spend more time with Archie and his sibling”)* but it would just come across as even more nonsensical and meritless than it would if he were to die today or tomorrow.

In any case, it will be insufferable when it happens, but I hope it doesn’t during what is such a well-deserved happy time for Meghan and Harry right now.

*I already know how annoyed I’m going to get when they pull this one out, because how often did either one of them actually see Archie when he lived right there? Bitch didn’t even bother to go to his christening! The christening of the first child of her “much loved” grandson. Anyway, I’ve gone off on a whole tangent here, lol, but the bottom line is I hope Philip hangs on just a little longer. 🤞

I don’t blame Phillip on them at all, but I did instead wonder if his racist old heart gave out when he was made aware there was to be a 2nd black great-grandchild. Perhaps he was still laboring under the delusion the first child was easier to for Harry to just call a “mistake” and get out of, and leave the black woman with to come crawling back to the Royal Whitedom eventually. The 2nd black royal in line to the throne, blew up any illusions that Harry was direly unhappy and this was all a passing fancy. It affirms they are very much in love and a beautiful, happy family.

In a way I kind of hope that’s what happened, after all they’ve done to Harry and Meghan, I kind of like thinking his racism would end up produce consequences for him.

I’m sure he said quite a lot of ‘things’ about Archie (and obviously Meghan) that one didn’t want to hear… especially after he came out pale as snow.

  26. Over it says:

After seeing the absolute joy on Harry face when he shared the news about Archie with the world, there is absolutely no way in heck that he would leave his pregnant wife to travel to the uk for Philip. No Harry wants to be with Megs this is his new baby and they already lost one . He won’t put other people before Megs and Archie and the new baby.

    • Mila says:

Yeah exactly, especially in those later months, not a chance! Phil better plan his death in the next 2-3 weeks, otherwise it’s not happening.

Regarding PP’s funeral. I am just now watching Season 1 of the Crown, and when the abdicated king returns for brother’s funeral he writes his (uninvited) wife and says what a frozen hell they escaped in England and what a bunch of “ice-veined monsters my family are…” Will life imitate art here?

Pandemic, heavily pregnant wife who previously suffered a miscarriage, poisonous royal family, abuse of privilege, rota jackals–funny, I find a lot more reasons for him not to go than to go.

Hospitals are not allowing visitors at present, except under certain limited circumstances. Each hospital makes its own arrangements but generally the limit is one visitor. Limited circumstances include patients receiving end of life care.

Prince Charles has arrived at Edward V11 Hospital in London to visit his father. He was filmed going into the hospital via the back entrance.

  31. anotherlily says:

    update; from Express.co.uk:

‘ Charles’s visit was made “in exceptional circumstances” in accordance with King Edward VII hospital’s COVID-19 visitor policy.’

Charles is staying in London tonight instead of travelling back to Highgrove.

Look. Harry and his grandpa aren’t close. My family is a vipers nest. I can’t see going back for a funeral. They are who they are. Regardless of who died. If – for example – my remaining grandma dies – the only reason I would go back would be to hang out with some cousins. If she dies this year, I’m not going back for it. The optics would be bad if he didn’t go. But dear god I hope he flies in and out in 48 hours.
