Personally, I don’t look to Gwyneth Paltrow for advice about anything really, but I especially don’t want her advice about skincare or haircare. Her skin is fine, whatever, she’s a ‘90s girl, which means she came of age in an era when grunge/no-makeup looks were popular, when all you were supposed to do was a red lip and some mascara for a red carpet. We really weren’t into skincare as this major thing back then either. Sure, people moisturized and wore sunscreen, but that was the extent of it (and frankly, few people even did that). My point is that Gwyneth had to learn along the way throughout her 30s and 40s and I don’t think she’s the poster girl for skincare-inspo. All that being said, I do enjoy these Vogue videos where women talk-to-camera and share their skincare routines. Here’s Gwyneth’s, complete with her makeup-free face, sun-damaged chest skin and limp straw hair.
Page Six pointed out that the products Gwyneth uses in this video cost about $900 total. Which is a lot for a daily skincare routine, but it’s not *that* crazy. If I had money to blow, I would buy some of those crazy expensive products too, especially the hydrating eye masks from Jillian Dempsey (Patrick Dempsey’s wife). Those cost $75! She also uses a Goop-branded wood-handled brush ($20), Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum ($185) and Jillian Dempsey’s vibrating Gold Sculpting Bar ($195), which is made from 24-karat gold.
Gwyneth makes it sound like Apple Martin knows a lot more about makeup and skincare, which I totally believe. Kids today pay more attention to all of that, much more than teenagers did in the ‘90s. Gwyneth says: “I mean, she knows how to contour — that girl is just on fire with her routine. I don’t know where she got it from. She definitely did not get it from me.” You can read more about Goop’s skin routine here at Vogue.

She should maybe put some of that money she’s budgeted for skin products toward her hair.
All that money on skin care and I, at 68, have younger looking skin using much less costly products. :-/
Seriously. Does she know that sunscreen costs like, $10?
Good god she has so much filler over her cheekbones.
And yet, she’s always looked so dehydrated.
This is exactly the word. Is she too thin? Is it her limp hair? Is she actually dehydrated?
To me she just looks constantly deprived, of food, joy, everything.
Everything!!! lol!
She needs to eat. Collagen is the best thing for women over 40. And yet protein is the thing most women over 40, avoids because they mistakenly believe it will make them fat. You need to eat it not put it on your skin.
Her skin isn’t great. The best thing she could do for her skin is put on some weight and eat better.
I totally agree. To be honest, her skin and hair look awful. The money she is spending on those products are a waste and would be much better utilized by giving to a charity. I often thought she is in a fantasy about her looks as she emits conceit, like she thinks she is gorgeous when there is nothing gorgeous or good looking about her. I’m sure people/society feed into that with her because she is blonde, white and skinny.
She (and Vogue) have rightfully been put on blast for her dangerous information on sunscreen application. As mentioned I don’t know why anyone would take advice from her…but unfortunately she does have a platform.
A LOT is genetics, diligent sunscreen use, 8 hours of sleep, lots of water, and maybe a retinol.
The above items should cost about 25 bucks tops.
Goopy’s hair looks so dry all the time. Not all that shiny. Never any volume. I’ll pass on any and all of her hair recommendations.
I do envy the products. I’ve always wanted to try Creme de la Mer and if I had Gwen’s money I’d buy the biggest tub they make.
Creme de la Mer will leave your skin as soft as a babies however I get breakouts the next day because it is so rich. Its like putting pure butter on your skin.
Theres been a backlash of sorts by derms and some aestheticians against how she describes putting on SPF and how irresponsible it is. SPF should not in any way shape or form be used as a bloody highlighter; I dont know if it was Vogue or Goop that went on to say that “She already had it on so didnt need to put any more on”, well fe**ing say that in the video! All we have to do is look at her chest to see the sun damage and that she certainly practices what she preaches. A daily morning routine with a face full of make up too …
She really rips ma knitting!
There’s no nice way to say it so I won’t try but if I spent $900 on my skincare routine and my skin looked like Gwyneth’s I’d be pissed.
I thought she looks good. You can get basically the same product by alternative brands for very reasonable prices. I got the sonic t bar by skin gym for $25 off ebay, NIB. The eye wraps can be bought with several options. A fancy one by Philip Thomas Roth currently on Overstock for about $35 for a jar of them. The rest of the stuff I did not care enough about to look up but I am sure there are alternatives for them too. -brands that perhaps aren’t organic and meet her standards. Now if you talk about her cleanses and diet, I will have nothing good to say
I wouldn’t take any skincare advice from someone looking like that. She uses spf as a highlight and it shows, her skin is really sun-damaged. I’ll be keeping my 50€ day and night routine with several good doses of spf during the day thank you.
After reading about Rebekah, just being a snake oil salesman seems to run in the Paltrow family.
Gwen and I are the same age and my beauty regimine costs $60. I know that I have melanin on my side but spending $900 on your skin should net better results.
Man, I wonder if she’s just irritating the crap out of her skin with all of this. I spent the last 20 years trying to ‘fix’ my skin only to recently realize that I just have super sensitive, thin skin. I started using cerave and then went to ponds, and I look 10 years younger. I only use the ponds now. No more exfoliants or multiple crazy serums and masks. Well, I do use one serum with copper peptides, but it cost $20 for the bottle. I don’t even think it can penetrate the slight layer of ponds, that’s left on, but it feels nice. I also keep a giant pump of super goop by the door. I know this routine isn’t for everyone, but it really worked for my sensitive skin. Maybe she should try cutting back on the product.
Lolololol, surely she’s aware that putting product on top of product on top of product on top of product is wasteful and fruitless? I do actually have that green tube of skin food. It is THICK and lovely when you’re staying home, but it’s certainly not something I carry in my purse. And I have a sculpting bar that retails for a ridiculous amount, but it was a gift for some work I did, and it’s kinda fun to push and vibrate serums, oils and lotions around my skin but to go out and actually purchase? No frakking way.
I’ve accumulated quite a makeup and skin health stash this past year (from this site as well as others), and I do use mornings to kinda of meditate by rubbing and massaging with products. It’s like I’m quietly telling myself I’m worth some attention lol. I love my Suja green grass clipping juices, but if I’m hungry, you can be sure I’m having bean and cheese tacos with homemade flour tortillas. 😁 And pico.
Mabs – Suja fuel in the morning for me, Ginger Love and Tumeric Love throughout the day and Berry or Green Goodness if I feel like I’m lacking vegetables or fruit (which I usually am). I love Suja!
My skincare is simple. La Roche Posay cleanser, their Hydralonic (sp) serum at night and their Vitamin C serum during the day. Sometimes their moisturizer with SPF but it somehow always gets in my eyes and stings. Always! Filorga eye cream if I can remember.
That said I take a lot of vitamins, most importantly Collagen and Biotin. I have thick hair but I’m afraid by the time I’m Gwen’s age it will have permanently thinned. I’m only 34 and I already have to pluck greys 🤦🏻♀️ And no a cortisol manager does not seem to make it better (cortisol is what makes our hair turn grey and makes up fat around the middle).
She honestly looks older than her stated age. You can’t reverse all of that sun damage from your youth.
She needs plastic surgery, not skincare.
She has some sun damage to her skin, but I think she looks great, really pretty, and basically normal. I’d rather see this any day over someone who’s had a tone of plastic surgery and uses too much makeup.
It shouldn’t cost so much to have a decent skin care regime. Drink enough water. Eat the right things for the nutrients. You can create your own essential oil blends to put on your skin at night and I have found some really good and affordable skin care products courtesy of Marshalls/Ross. 900 bucks is just astonishing.
Any advise for short, straight, and thick hair? I have a chin-length bob right now and I love it. It’s my favorite hairstyle and it’s the one I see myself keeping forever. But I’ve never been good at taking care of my hair… and I’m also broke.
Help? 🙁
She looks terrible for her age. I am 63 and she looks old enough to my my mother. My chest skin is creamy and flawless. Hers is just a sun damaged mess.
She’s starting to look like her mother.
I’m no fan of Gwyneth’s — I generally find her insufferable — but I’m kind of shocked at the harsh comments here about how ancient and unattractive she looks. I think she looks her age. I’m impressed she isn’t over-botoxed, pulled, or plumped, like most middle-aged female celebs.
I mean, I wouldn’t take skin care advice from ANY privileged, wealthy woman, no matter how nice her skin looks. It’s all smoke and mirrors.
And I refuse to add having a sun-damaged chest to the list of things that aging women are supposed to be ashamed about and hide.
I totally agree with this coment. Well said.
Gwynnie should stop drinking alcohol, 60 days off booze and my skin looks awesome, she’s dehydrated from too much wine or fancy 50 dollar clean cocktails or whatever her kind drinks
