‘Vax Live’ co-chair Prince Harry did a pre-taped speech urging vaccine justice

When I saw all of the Prince Harry/Vax Live headlines this morning, I was genuinely like “oh no, I missed it, I can’t believe no one reminded me!” I didn’t miss it. No one missed it. Prince Harry was doing a pre-taped speech for the Vax Live concert, which will be broadcast May 8th. They were recording it last night at the SoFi Stadium in LA. The reason we know everything about his speech and appearance is because A) apparently there were photographers there and B) there was an in-person audience of vaccinated health care workers and frontline workers. While Harry and Meghan are co-chairs and probably did a lot to help this event come together, Harry was seemingly the only one to speak at the event, and Meghan might have stayed home. Here’s his speech:

“Hi everybody. We are at a defining moment in the global fight against COVID-19. Tonight is a celebration of each of you here, the vaccinated frontline workers in the audience and the millions of frontline heroes around the world. You spent the last year battling courageously and selflessly to protect us all. You served and sacrificed, put yourselves in harm’s way and with bravery knowing the costs. We owe you an incredible depth of gratitude, thank you.

“But we’re also coming together because this pandemic cannot end unless we act collectively with an unprecedented commitment to our shared humanity. The vaccine must be distributed to everyone everywhere. We cannot rest or truly recover until there is fair distribution to every corner of the world. The mission in front of us is one we cannot afford to fail out and that’s what tonight is about. The virus does not respect borders and access to the vaccine cannot be determined by geography. It must be accepted as a basic right for all and that is our starting point,” Harry continued.

“None of us should be comfortable thinking that we could be fine when so many others are suffering. In reality, and especially with this pandemic, when any suffer, we all suffer. We must look beyond ourselves with empathy and compassion for those we know, and those we don’t. We need to lift up all of humanity and make sure that no person or community is left behind. What we do in this moment will stand in history and tonight, we stand in solidarity with the millions of families across India who are battling a devastating second wave,” he concluded.

Harry and Meghan, 39, are serving as Campaign Chairs of VAX Live, which “aims to inspire vaccine confidence worldwide and help get the COVID-19 vaccines to everyone, everywhere” according to a statement by Global Citizen.

[From People]

This is such a tricky moment in the pandemic, with India facing a crushing surge of deadly infections and Western countries facing the fact that significant parts of their populations don’t WANT to get vaccinated. There’s uneven distribution from country to country, and I know America is being accused of vaccine-hoarding (fwiw, Biden seems to be correcting that). I’m glad that there are larger public health campaigns (like this one) ringing the bell for vaccine justice, getting more vaccines to “poorer” countries and all of that.

As for Harry… well, there’s a reason why I used People Magazine as a source. I skimmed the Daily Mail’s coverage and they were in full meltdown mode, claiming that Harry wants to be treated “like a rock star” and mocking him for… talking about compassion in a pandemic. No, really. That will surely make him run back to England! You’re doing great, DM.

The BEST part about the visuals for his speech was the huge “Global Citizen” on the screen behind him.

This was a great speech. So glad he’s in the US and coming in to his own. The DM headline about him leaving Meghan at home was ridiculous (as expected).

    • FC says:

Yes! First it said “Prince Harry, the DoS” then switched to GLOBAL CITIZEN for a pure chefs kiss moment.

    • BayTampaBay says:

The Daily Fail is just pissed off that they did not get a new picture of Meghan to run so they have an excuse to write another article running her down generating 5K comments.

      • Christa says:

Those Brits are unhinged on DM. There are currently 12k comments on their article about this event

      • FC says:

Do you notice they “monitor” comments for other RF members, including Andrew? But they’ll allow 12K unmoderated, racist comments for H&M no problem. The DM is 100% part of the larger problem, and all Charles or William has to do is wave a wand and it goes away, but they never do.

      • Moonie says:

I can’t even express how much I hate DM. Today they had one ridiculous clickbait nastiness that sunk to new lows: “Why Kate is classy and Meghan cheesy.” I kid you not. Seriously I wonder how someone can just blow them all up….

      • BayTampaBay says:

“all Charles or William has to do is wave a wand and it goes away, but they never do.”

At this point, I do not think Charles or Willian could do anything with respects to the tabloids. Meghan & Harry are the tabloid’s #1 money maker$. The British tabloids are not going to stop until there is no more money to be made off the Sussexes.

      • Scal says:

They kept yelling about where is she? Why did she stay at home?

It’s like they forget she’s super pregnant. Or just looking for a reason to hate some more.

      • Eurydice says:

It’s more like the Daily Flail now, isn’t it? They’re desperately grasping here and there – everything they say about the Sussexes is becoming more and more irrelevant as time goes on.

      • GraceB says:

While I agree that the comments on the DM are pretty crazy and racist, I really want to point out that they’re not all Brits. I feel like on here people assume that everything in the DM is British and all the commenters are too but the DM has a large American audience and a front page which highlights news stories in different orders to Americans too. Some stories don’t even feature on the UK site or vice versa.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

@Scal-“They kept yelling about where is she? Why did she stay at home?

It’s like they forget she’s super pregnant. Or just looking for a reason to hate some more.”

It’s more like they were all revved up and ready go with comments about how she could go to a Hollywood concert(that’s how the unhinged view it) and not Prince Philip’s funeral. Just so sad that they’re disappointed……

    • Myra says:

That was a stunning visual. It’s truly symbolic of his place in the world right now. Not that I care much for royalty, but he is our prince now. That “life of service” statement is really redundant now, isn’t it?

      • MMadison says:

Will/Kate spent an entire week in the British Press focused on their 10 years of marriage and their children’s birthdays. Harry just showed them what service really means. It’s not about your personal self but what you can do for others. Well Done Harry!!

    • Monica says:

He looks so sad and lost here in dreary California… 🤣

      • Yvette says:

@Monica … LOL! Doesn’t he, though? So sad and lost, out there walking along the beach in the morning with his family, his feet in the water throwing a ball to the dog, and a bright smile on his face. The poor, poor thing! 🙂

The British tabs and royal commentators certainly are trying their best to create a ‘poor, lost, sad-sap Harry!’ narrative.

      • paranormalgirl says:

Yeah. being in his 193.141592653 million dollar house must be so awful for him. With his cheesy wife and child of undetermined skin color and the anchor baby on the way… torture.
/sarcasm at BM and the RF

Freedom looks great on him! And this is what “service” looks like. The problem is the royals confuse “service” and “self serving.”

      • MsIam says:

Yeah, I guess he’s gotten over the “numbness” or whatever they claimed he was feeling on the plane ride home, lol. They just need to let Harry be great. They are just looking unhinged and vengeful at this point.

    • PEARL GREY says:

“Harry wants to be treated like a rock star!”

As opposed to the royals who still insist on being bowed and curtsied to.

    • Kanye’s Blonde Hair says:

Some notes from this event I attended:

Prince Harry got the loudest ovation from the crowd. British media will SEETHE at the American crowd reaction. He is loved here. That was very clear. He seemed to smile in surprise and relief.

Personnel backstage was cleared from “walking in the prince’s path”

No cameras were allowed to capture him and his team were pretty scary enforcement of that.

He’s so handsome and down to earth. He has a very warm aura. He’s surprisingly taller than I expected.

Meghan gave a video message from home

      Other gossip notes:

Ben afflict (typo seems appropriate) watched J.Lo from the side of the stage and gave the audience a good laugh on stage with Jimmy Kimmel

It was a pretty great event for a great cause and honored first responders here in the US who were all really excited and grateful to be there. There was palpable excitement at being at the first big concert from musicians and celebs to the audience. EVERYONE was happy to be there. Even J. Lo didn’t pull diva antics, which shocked everyone.

      • Becks1 says:

Thanks for the insider info! I’m glad he got such a positive reception there.

  2. Nomegusta says:

    The reaction he got 🥰

Prince Harry out here doing the work.

I know they are big mad 😂

    • Killfanora says:

The reaction he got was just fabulous! And all the Daily Fail can retaliate with is “his accent has changed”! Errr, no it hasn’t. It is the only accent he has ever had.

  3. The Duchess says:

Harry looked amazing and the crowd’s reaction was a work of art! This is Harry & Meghan’s audience now and by hell are they going to work their behind’s off to create as much impact as they can. I love it! I loved every minute of his speech and can’t wait to watch the show on May 8th!

    • Commonwealthy sounded witty at first says:

YES!! What’s funny is that over the same period that the UK media has been talking about “growing quiet confident peacekeeping lynchpinning revolutionary middle class just like you not like those awful Hollywood types in Montecity” (I’m summarizing), H&M were busy working on this and so many other things (Meghan’s roundtable with Girls Inc and the Women’s Law Center!). I LOVE to see it.

  4. Likeyoucare says:

Aren’t the BM even feel embarassment and shame for reporting hideous story about harry important message?
Are the readers of DM that stupid?
    Or maybe they are( shrug)

  5. Cecilia says:

If the DM is angry he’s doing something right i’d say

  6. swirlmamad says:

Harry, keep doing the work, and don’t give those salty bitches back home the time of day. You have many, many people around the world who appreciate you and Meghan and the work you are doing. They wouldn’t want you to silence yourself if they knew you were ineffective. Looking forward to seeing the concert on Saturday.

  7. JT says:

The Keens could never. Harry’s speech was great. That’s why the BM is having a meltdown. Neither of them have a good enough stage presence to carry a speech such as this, and Kate can barely speak English with her fake accent. Add in the fact that H&M are co-chairs and seemed to be involved in the planning and you’ve got the makings of a power couple. The royals threw away their best bet at effective soft power. Imagine if H&M had done this as royals, in a time where the UK needs to still be seen as powerful. Idiots.

    • Becks1 says:

I’m not clicking to the DM, but please tell me that people are mad he did this over Charlotte’s birthday weekend and is “stealing her thunder” lol. (I’m laughing bc we all know that the idea of thunder stealing is ridiculous, not at Charlotte’s birthday).

      • JT says:

I also don’t click on the DM, but I did see thunder stealing comments from Cambridge stans on Twitter. Because the world does stop when the kids have a birthday. Instead of b*tching about it they could just…I don’t know…focus on Charlotte’s birthday? I don’t get it, because they were also tagging H&M in their posts.

      • Cecilia says:

@JT. Noooooo they didn’t! Are they seriously mad that this was recorded on charlotte’s birthday? Lmao what was harry supposed to say? “Let’s postpone the taping because its my niece’s birthday, who lives in the Uk and has absolutely nothing to do with this event”. Do Camb stans have a job?

      • JT says:

@Cecilia I kid you not. This is a huge event. They aren’t going to just press pause just because of Charlotte’s birthday. They are delusional. And they were tagging H&M talking about thunder stealing. I’m like y’all are the ones who need his thunder.

      • Lizzie says:

Omg. A kids birthday is not a thing except for their family, even in the rf. I guess the Cambridge stans didn’t support the sm boycott, but bots don’t boycott do they?

      • Cessily says:

Technically with the time difference was it truly her birthday?

      • Ginger says:

The Cambridge stans are losing it over Harry’s appearance. They also said nobody knows who Harry is. They are a sad and pathetic bunch.

Harry’s speech was amazing and he looks incredible. He looks like he belongs in the US. The reception he received was so nice to see. The RF and BM smear campaign didn’t work. I am glad a lot of people are thinking for themselves and are not brainwashed by the racist British press. Harry is OUR Prince now.

      • Shawna says:

Lizzie — “bots don’t boycott” – YOU WIN! Love it.

      • L4frimaire says:

How does this have anything to do with that child’s birthday? Talk about weak excuses. The amount of organization and coordination this required took months of planning. Besides, she would have been in bed fast asleep, full of cake by the time this event took place, with that 8 hour time difference and all, lol.

    • Kristin says:

I’m sorry, I know this is off topic, but I freaking love that we always refer to the British tabloids here as the “BM”, because in my head I instantly think “bowel movement”, lol! Which is pretty damn appropriate actually.

  8. Chartreuse says:

But Willileaks and the whatever he’s doing /not doing! So much more important and regal 🙄🙄🙄

  9. Becks1 says:

The DM is so pathetic. It just proves Harry and Meghan’s point with every unhinged article and headline.

I’m excited to see this concert, I saw a news clip on twitter and an attendee was saying how they weren’t allowed to use their phones during the event this past weekend (I think they were filming the live stadium portions and then are going to cut in live performances? maybe?) so I thought it was funny that I get on twitter this morning and the first thing I see are clips of this, clearly taken with an iphone lol.

(also, the attendee was saying how she was so excited to see Harry and Meghan and that was going to make her whole year and that was the best part about this for her. So no wonder the royals are salty, ha.)

    • Chartreuse says:

Becks, could you imagine someone saying that about Baldimort? One couple acts, one couple… Leaks

    • C-Shell says:

I had to chuckle at the smart phone video clips, too, Becks. Anyway, the cheering, standing ovation when Harry walked out on stage was a beautiful thing.

Re: the Fail, weren’t they supposed to be running a front page apology one of these days? I wonder what’s happening behind the scenes on that. 🙄

    • Cessily says:

Cshell the tabloid is appealing the ruling and taking it to trial from what I read.

  10. Brit says:

People might as well get used to the BM and tabloids hating from the outside of the party. They’ve been cut off, ignored, publicly blasted and are stuck with Royals they have to hype up to death because they’re so bland. They see the American media benefiting from access and they feel they should be the only gatekeepers for the Sussexes. They’ll be forever bitter and traumatized because their proven methods of harassment and bullying didn’t get the Sussexes to heel. If anything, Harry and Meghan are the winners. It’s the others that will eventually deal with their wrath because the more Harry and Meghan flourish and are successful, they’re going to want the others to recreate that for them. That’s why you had a commentator basically say that William needs to go Hollywood because they’ll never get to Hollywood now because they kept attacking Meghan and they want William to get there because they want Leaks and access as well. I imagine blackmailing has been through the roof.

    • Lemons says:

The BRF can always bring the Sussexes back into the fold…as remote consultants on how to replicate that Sussex magic. They better pay top dollar because they’ll have A LOT of work on their hands.

  11. Jan says:

Well he did get a standing ovation, BM going nuts as usual.
Why Harry living his live life is bothering them?
Turns out Meghan is the hostage, you see more of Harry than you see of her, another thing the BM was wrong about, for an unhappy hostage, he sure looks good, even sporting a new shirt.
Here is another poll results, Australians would prefer for Harry to be King, you can’t make this sh*t up.

    • Lizzie says:

Wow. Talk about a self fulfilling prophecy! They rf was so worried about Harry being more popular than Archie’s uncle that they ran a daily smear campaign that backfired and now Australia would rather Harry ffk than Archies uncle. Thanks for sharing the news about the poll.

      • Dawning says:

@Lizzie LOL, Archie’s Uncle. That is so funny. I love it. We don’t have to mention his name again.

      • Lyds says:

Archie’s uncle!! I would tweak it just a tad by calling him, “Archie’s Other Uncle,” because I’m pretty sure Archie already has an uncle…

(Just playing off of Bully-am’s “I already have a nephew” comment)

    • JT says:

And let’s not forget that in the poll where it asked Brits who should be king, Harry actually had more votes than William.

I also saw that New Zealand is bidding to host the Invictus Games. They want to tie it in with Anzac Day.

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

HA! Wouldn’t that be something. You can bet TOB and Marble Mouth would do EVERYTHING to do a “tour” (read: vacation) in NZ during that time to try and push down on/overshadow Harry’s project. AS IF lol

      • notasugarhere says:

Given how much Jacinda Arden appears to like Meghan and Harry? A NZ games would be amazing, and have the haters foaming at the mouth.

      • Sid says:

That sounds like such a great idea NZ has. I hope it happens.

  12. Emily_C says:

No wonder he wanted off that salty isle. How dare he care about other people! Especially people without money!

Meanwhile, what’s Will doing? Oh right refraining from posting on Twitter for 2 days.

  13. FC says:

I know Meghan wasn’t there because she’s extremely pregnant and will prob record a video message for the broadcast, but I also kind of wonder if she’s vaccinated yet. I know a lot of pregnant women who are waiting until postpartum to get it because there aren’t many studies re: the effects on pregnancy. Either way, no doubt she’s working behind the scenes on this and will be visible in some way to support the cause.

    • Snuffles says:

Yes, I’m guessing she wasn’t there because she’s not vaccinated yet and Harry probably is. She’ll prerecord something for sure.

The BM getting all salty and talking about everything except the actual cause Harry was there to represent is one of the major reasons they left and cut them off. The press will swear on they mama’s grave that the royal family NEED them but if the royal family are all about service like they claim, then why can’t the press focus on the people and causes they are supposedly serving?

      Riddle me that!

      • BABSORIG says:

I honestly believe Meg is carrying multiple gestation. She is really big but probably not as preggers as we all suspect so that’s why she’s holding off on the vaccine.

      • Sofia says:

@Babs I don’t think she’s carrying more than one baby. The Sussexes would have said so or at least, kept it vague and not reveal they were having a girl. Plus I think their spokesperson even said “their family of 4 is complete” or something like that.

Meghan just carries big. I remember people thinking Archie would be born in March by the size of Meghan’s bump only for him to be born in May (although he was late per Harry)

      • Emily_C says:

My mother’s slim, and was very slim when she was 20 — until she was pregnant with me. The pictures from back then make it look like she was carrying a baby elephant. The baby will probably be big when she’s born, is all (I was anyway.)

    • swirlmamad says:

Yes, I have a pregnant friend who is doing exactly that (waiting till after birth to get it). So that makes complete sense if Meghan has not yet and that’s why she’s laying low. I would probably feel the same way — just got my 2nd shot on Sat and I felt AWFUL all day yesterday…even though it’s just your immune system at work, I’d be so nervous if I was pregnant.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

From what I’ve heard Fauci say, and the other Drs. on CNN and MSNBC, you SHOULD get your vaccine if pregnant. It will also offer your newborn some protection. It should be done in the THIRD trimester.

CDC ALSO recommends pregnant woman to get the vaccine: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/04/23/health/us-coronavirus-friday/index.html

    • sunny says:

One of my family friends is one of Canada’s leading perinatologists and he was just on tv last week advocating for pregnant women to be moved up to a higher priority group for vaccines in Canada. Apparently they are seeing some terrible impacts of Covid in pregnant patients.

I think it is hard to convince vaccine skeptics when so few studies have been done but the anecdotes suggest that pregnant women should consider getting shots as well(at least in Canada).

    • Jan says:

Covid-19 vaccine for pregnant women are safe, in fact they’re recommended.
In the testing stage, pregnant women were given the vaccine and placebos vaccines, only the group given placebo vaccine miscarried.

      • Zaya says:

I know two people who are currently pregnant and they both have their shots

    • Emily_C says:

I hope she has been vaccinated. All the info I’ve seen makes me think pregnant women should get vaccinated, and that they should be very high on the list for vaccinations.

I don’t think that “hasn’t been vaccinated” is necessary for her not to show up anyway. Her pregnancy is somewhat risky, and also she’s likely not exactly comfortable at the moment. Getting up to give a speech which she has to interrupt every 5 minutes to pee is not worth it. I’ll be happy when she’s back in the welcoming limelight, but for now, I’m glad she’s resting.

    • SurelyNot says:

I’m sure she is vaccinated because he went straight home after travelling to the UK — I believe he would have self quarantined somewhere away from her and Archie if she hadn’t been.

      • L4frimaire says:

Agree. Plus she was prepared to fly to the UK for the funeral, and don’t think she’d do that if unvaccinated. Probably just better for her at her stage of pregnancy to stay home and even when vaccinated , you can still get Covid and that was a big crowd.

    • faithmobile says:

Here in California, pregnant women were given priority for vaccination before it was opened up to the general public. My OBGYN recommended it, I was vaccinated at the end of my first trimester with zero side effects from the phizer vaccine. I did my research and spoke to health professionals and other pregnant women and made my decision. And the freedom it’s given me is priceless. So I would not assume that Meghan is unvaccinated, especially since our state is pro vaccine for pregnant women. I also don’t think she carrying multiples, some of us just have big bellies.

  14. Amy Bee says:

The Royal rota tried to make a big deal of the fact that Meghan wasn’t there but that fell flat after people told them that she was going to be part of the broadcast. She’s pregnant and probably hasn’t been vaccinated yet. I wasn’t expecting them to be there in person so it was a nice surprise to see Harry there. I’m just happy that Harry gets to do what he wants now.

    • Brit says:

They’re mad because they wanted to see her and stayed up late for her. They want pictures and videos of her pregnancy and besides the interview and that maternity picture, they don’t have photos of her.

      • ABritGuest says:

Isn’t it funny they are so obsessed with seeing Meghan especially as they constantly talk about irrelevant the Sussexes are. Plus the tabloid polls tell us how unpopular they are so why force them down readers’ throats?

Not sure all of the Magnificent Seven would get the response Harry had even in Britain despite all the tabloid polls about how certain royals’ popularity has increased after Philip’s passing. Just shows how short sighted the firm was especially as I don’t think there are many in the Seven who appeal to some of the younger crowds the firm is gonna need to keep the grift going & the conditioning around the royal family is not going to be the same when the queen is gone.

Just think in a normal org what the response would be if you lost two major assets shortly after super successful tours and projects & created the very situation you were keen to avoid (spotlight going elsewhere).

  15. aquarius64 says:

The BM is having a meltdown because their hit pieces on Harry and Meghan are not gaining traction in the US. The standing ovation at the event is a big FU to the rotten rota. Only American gossip press is bothering with their noise and the US pink press is not gospel here.

    • Brit says:

This too. They tried with Max Foster, Candace Owens and the right wing in America. They tried with Piers Morgan and that went nowhere because he’s been attacking her for so long that it’s become boring. He’s been completely silent because he’s ruined his career over an obsession. The BM knows Harry and Meghan were the golden couple, no matter how much they keep trying to make Will and Kate happen.

      • Piers Morgan proved to be an assh_le in his last interview when he said that members of the royal family are calling to thank him for smearing the Sussexes and defending the royal family. He had a slip of the tongue. He effectively revealed that his daily sabotage of the Sussexes and rants were sanctioned by the royal family. He proved to be an agent of the RF. After that interview I didn’t hear him again. Or maybe he wasn’t as noisy as before. At least for now.

      • swirlmamad says:

It is true that the last we’ve heard from Piers was when he flapped his lips about being thanked by the Royals. Literally radio silence since then from him. Wonder what that’s all about??

      • Rapunzel says:

Swirlmamad- my theory is PM gave too much of the game away by saying he was thanked. And especially by posing at KP. I suspect he got explicit orders from KP to knock it off.

      • Lady D says:

I too think posing in front of KP is what got him shut down. He allowed his arrogance to take him too far. I wonder if wee Willie got to exercise his incandescent temper that day? I would have loved to hear that conversation.

      • Greywacke says:

I also think PM became a liability, so he doesn’t have anywhere to go. 57K complained about him IN SPITE of the BM’s four-year anti-Meghan campaign. And ITV was already dealing with a suicide scandal. People like him eventually cross the line of legality and/or morality in some way to the point that the public becomes too outraged to ignore (e.g., Limbaugh calling women who take BC sluts, losing most of his sponsors) or the employer starts to sweat the lawsuits (e.g., Lou Dobbs’s lies about Dominion voting brought on mega lawsuits that got him fired). They love pushing the boundaries and getting away with it. They begin to feel like gods. But money is the true god, unfortunately. And with the British version of Fox News abandoned by Murdoch, where does PM have to go other than back to the tabloids, which aren’t faring too well with their own H&M lawsuits. Someday, probably a date too far into the future, this will be Dan Wooten. Narcissists who are continually propped up can’t help but destroy themselves once it negatively impacts the corporate pocketbooks. Any guesses as to what will sink DW?

  16. mariahlee says:

It’s hard out here for Meg stans, but I hope her pregnancy is more enjoyable / comfortable this time.

Anyway, Harry was made for this.

  17. Harper says:

Harry is hip and approachable, and Americans will still always go crazy for someone with a British accent. Being told you did a great job during the pandemic by a British Prince? Priceless.

    • Lizzie says:

I thought it was a joke at first.

      • JT says:

        Oh Lord.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

I thought so too! They also received the award in 2016. I think it’s kind of awesome she picked them.

Are Cambridge stans mad at the announcement being made the same week of Charlotte’s bday?

Harry looks great and looks to be thriving/happy away from the UK.

    • Cessily says:

That headline makes me laugh every time I have seen it. Then I think of “Frankie and Grace”.. I have no problem with the award and the laugh is appreciated.

    • Izzy says:

Is this another “modernizing the monarchy” thing? 😂

    • swirlmamad says:

I’m cackling…..this is actually kinda awesome. Go ‘head, Liz.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

I know they were referring to sales revenue but ‘outstanding continuous growth’ is just hysterical to me.

@Izzy-hahaha It might very well be the most modern thing anyone in the BRF in England yet has done in a while.

    • booboocita says:

It’s great, both coming from Liz and for the company. But can the British media run one freaking story about the royals without including a mention of H&M? A story linking dildoes and the Queen, how funny, how progressive … BTW, did you hear Harry & Meghan gave an interview to Oprah?!?

  18. Nic919 says:

I saw a clip of Harry entering the stage and the crowd was so loud. I don’t even think the venue was full capacity either. There are going to be some salty people in the UK having seen those clips this morning.

But Harry looks happy and that’s all that matters.

    • JT says:

The reactions of the crowd was amazing but I love all of the tweets calling him “America’s prince”. They coulda had a bad bitch.

      • Kristin says:

He is America’s prince! We love him here and we love his wife and we won’t throw them away like England did.

  19. TheOriginalMia says:

Harry looked good and his speech was great. The BM & Salty Isle can stay mad. They kicked Harry out and he’s staying out. He & Meghan are global citizens, doing their best to make the world a better place. What are their faves doing?

  20. TabithaD says:

None of the “Magnificent Seven” (or whatever on earth they are calling themselves these days) have even a tenth of Harry’s star power and impact. Even if all seven turned up at the same time and did cartwheels. Certain of them will be eaten up by jealousy at this.

  21. Withtheamerican says:

WE GOT THE REAL PRINCE! Sorry, UK. Your loss.

    • Emily_C says:

I’m not patriotic at all, but this has me all “Oh beautiful for spacious skies.”

  22. Monica says:

Cue the B[owel]M[ovement] calling Meghan lazy or afraid to show her face last night.

Of course if she had shown up the story would be that she made it all about her.

  23. Digital Unicorn says:

He’s living his best life and all the best to him and Meghan with your future work – keep going forward and leave the haters to stew in their hate, the don’t deserve anything less.

You just know someone(s) at KP are incandescent over not only the appearance but the reception he got. I don’t think i have ever known a reaction like this to a certain other couple.

    • Jan says:

Someone said, you have drag kids out of School to wave at the Queen.
Once unable was turning up somewhere, and the turnout was going to be so poor, that they were dropping leaflets around the neighborhood for people to turn up, can’t remember where in England.

  24. Lizzie says:

I expect to see some low rent staged standing O for Archies uncle in the next few days.

  25. Sofia says:

Lovely to see Harry get the positive response he did. As for Meghan staying home, if she’s not vaccinated yet then obviously she won’t come. As others have said, she might be waiting until after she gives birth.

The BM will do what they do best and remain unhinged towards the Sussexes.

  26. Eating Popcorn says:

Charles has been very vocal in calls to aid India, Harry & Meghan working on this, get ready for Kate & William to come out strong against COVID!

    • Jaded says:

Yes, he’s donated money and organized a fund-raiser to get oxygen to India as soon as possible — William and Kate? Crickets.

      • bamaborn says:

As others have highlighted, that salty isle know they are going to need the Biden administration, what better way than to feign concern for India.

  27. RoyalBlue says:

God Bless America! Harry is so lucky that he married an American, or else he would have had no escape from that personal hell.

  28. Brit says:

Y’all, I just saw a poll asking if the Queen should be worried about the Sussexes global fame 😂😂 I guess that standing ovation video has reached palace walls. Get ready for some foolishness in the coming days as if they haven’t learned that nothing they’re doing is working. A mess, lol.

    • Harla says:

I don’t think that the queen needs to be worried but Charles and William should be.

      • JT says:

Chuckles and Will-di Amin are in for a ride and I am here for it because I’m petty. I also can’t wait to see the Tom fillers over the next week.

  29. Cessily says:

The clips I saw made me homesick for the days of events to go to and being able to go out with friends.. I hope we all can enjoy events soon. As for the haters they can watch there soccer matches and keep the tabloid hate they covet so much over any person in their country. Time to just stop the hate, it’s exhausting and are we not all exhausted enough?
Had COVID before I was able to get vaccinated anyone bitching about a charity who wants the world vaccinated doesn’t deserve a response.. maybe when they can’t breath or have to bury a loved one they will discover empath and compassion.

  30. Prince Harry received a heartfelt welcome from the crowd with a standing ovation. I am so, so happy and excited for him. So proud of him to have pulled it off. Everything.

Meantime, the other brother is busy nursing his raging heart. The British media is also furious that their hate campaign is a big fail. The world loves Prince Harry. I’m sure as I’m standing here the UK tabloids will be conducting polls again to assure themselves that Harry’s popularity is waning. But you’d all be sorry UK no amount of trolling and polling will reverse the fact that the world loves a winner. The Sussexes are loved.

    • lanne says:

you know that dude is lit up–you could power light bulbas by sticking them in his ears. rage rage rage.

      • Eurydice says:

LOL – this sent me back to grammar school, when we powered a light bulb using a great big potato.

    • Lemons says:

At some point, the hate mongers with a British accent have to realize that they are a minority and when trying to explain why they don’t like H&M, it won’t really be clear why. They did everything you asked to a tee. Since you didn’t like them, they left, paid off their debts to the family (and “to you,” the British taxpayer 😂) and set up outside of the UK and are doing their own thing. They’re not on social media caping for likes. They rarely update us on their private lives, and if we do get an update, it’s about the jobs. Anything family-related is at a minimum though the tabloids will have you thinking differently.

So…the rest of the world is here for the Sussexes soft power push. Stay mad. It shows on your face. Ask your overlords at the BRF.

  31. Lowrider says:

He looks good, healthy, and happy.

  32. NL says:

Apparently they already met the fundraising goal by raising more than $53M for more than 10M doses.

  33. Over it says:

Shame on you Harry for trying to help others who are in need around the world. You should return to salty isle and continue to be their doormat.

  34. Eurydice says:

It’s so interesting to me that Harry is out there, front and center, while Meghan is at home. There’s been so much negative talk about how she’s both the brains and the brawn and leads him around by the nose. I’m loving the “branding,” which was started with the Corday interview, that shows him as a power and personality apart from Meghan.

  35. Rapunzel says:

Dailyfail already attacking him as acting like a “rock star.” Current headline:
“Harry plays the rock star: Prince walks on to a standing ovation and tells crowd they are ‘awesome’ as he joins stars at ‘Vax Live’ Covid concert in LA before urging audience to ‘look beyond ourselves’, while pregnant Meghan stays at home”

Meanwhile, I think the new crisis managers are working. Another headline on the Fail:

“Prince William and Charles will NOT hold peace talks with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: Future kings are ‘fed up’ with ‘distraction’ and will leave the Sussexes to ‘sort things out on their own’, royal expert claims”

    • Merricat says:

If that’s the work of crisis managers, they should get their money back. The Sussexes have been living their lives; the only ones making a distracting scene are in the palace(s).

      • Lizzie says:

They only make themselves look small and petty.

      • Rapunzel says:

Merricat- true! I saw the headline as positive because it seemed to say they’re gonna leave the Sussexes alone, but your take is also accurate. It really does still come off as deluded and bitter.

    • Lemons says:

What exactly are the Sussexes meant to be sorting out, pray tell?

But yeah, this is their terrible attempt at pivoting the focus back to them w/o constantly bringing up the more popular royals. Considering Charles and William are the ones who needed crisis managers, they probably have a lot more to sort out.

    • Lady D says:

Sort things out? They have a home, a mortgage, jobs, child/ren, incredible movers and shakers for friends, a new and loving family they are creating for themselves, pets and a defined future. What the hell do they have left to sort out?

    • MsIam says:

If that is the headline, then talk about a run on sentence! It gives me a headache just reading it, lol.

  36. Lizzie says:

What was the phrase they had a hissy about, was it public service? The queen said if you were not a ft royal you couldn’t live a life of public service then Harry and Meghan said yes we can and the stans came out. This looked a lot like public service, or what ever the phrase was, to me. And done much better than we’ve seen from the rf in years.

  37. Merricat says:

Global citizen says everything. Hats off to Harry.

  38. Islandgirl says:

Well done Harry and Meghan. I am proud of you and happy for you.

I have to admit that I was a little worried because of the Max Foster reporting and the fact that it seemed like legitimate journalists were regurgitating tabloid fodder.

Happy to see the support though. Ignore the noise and keep doing what you’re doing.

As the citizen of a small island atate this is a worthy and very timely cause. Well done.

    • Alexandria says:

Thought he had some analysis brains in him. Swiftly unfollowed him on TikTok. Maybe there is some virus affecting BM brains.

  39. TigerMcQueen says:

Weeks of post-funeral stories from the RR about how cold Harry was treated and how that makes him sad to be apart from the RF, and how he’s rethinking his move to California, and how he regrets the Oprah interview…all proven to be fanfic every time Harry speaks publicly.

The Global Citizen was pointed, as was Harry’s talk about disinformation during his speech.

And I love that his rock star welcome is making the usual suspects even more salty than usual!

  40. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

    He’s simply brilliant.

  41. L4frimaire says:

Harry looked very much in his element and so happy. The fans were very happy online. Of course the usual salty haters were there, and everyone seemed disappointed Meghan wasn’t there in person, especially the bitter trolls. I guess there was a clip from Pope Francis and some salty hater actually mentioned how that shouldn’t happen because the Queen is the head of the Church if England, like that is the level of nonsense these people deal in. Anyway, it seems the organization met its goal of securing the vaccine doses they want, and the frontline workers there were very excited and happy to be there. These bitter haters can not once, get their head out of Harry and Meghan’s space and focus on the actual cause and the fact there were a lot of other celebrities and prominent people there, and much of the world still have very little vaccine access.

    • Ginger says:

The haters are LOSING IT. One British guy said the audience was full of “gullible Americans” He deleted his tweet because he was getting dragged. Not good to call health care workers gullible Americans. They are not prepared for Harry and Meghan once it’s safe to hold events for the public.

      • Greywacke says:

What an insult to the frontline workers. Bad call dude. That audience was very specific. It wasn’t a rock concert for just anybody.

  42. It really pisses me off when William and the British media accuse the Sussexes of abandoning the royal family and the UK. They always conveniently forget that the original proposal was for them to step back and not to step down. They wanted to continue carrying out some of their royal duties without public funding.

If only the Royal family allowed the Sussexes the half in/half out arrangement they originally proposed, the Royal family could’ve taken advantage of their global star power and could’ve used them as global ambassadors on their behalf. Instead William and Kate’s jealousy got the better of them. They lost the plot.

    • Carmen-JamRock says:

“SO GLAD [If only] the Royal family DID NOT allow[ed] the Sussexes the half in/half out arrangement they originally proposed.[,] [t]The Royal family CAN’T TAKE [could’ve taken] advantage of their global star power and CANT USE [could’ve used] them as global ambassadors on their behalf. [Instead] OH WELL… William and Kate’s jealousy WILL GET [got] the better of them. They lost the plot.”

      There, fixed it for you.

  43. MerryGirl says:

Well done Global Citizen Harry and well done to VaxLive for the overall production, can’t wait to see the full show next weekend. I’m certain Meghan will make a virtual appearance in the final cut so we can look forward to another meltdown on Salty Isle on May 8th.
For the rest of world, Harry looked happy, healthy and thriving so Britain’s loss is America’s and the world’s gain now.

  44. RedWeatherTiger says:

But let us not forget all the magnificent work the Keenbridges did on their ChooChoo Tour. Surely Hollywood would like to celebrate THAT, too? 😀

Harry looks hot and happy, and I could not love this couple more.

  45. Katherine says:

Seriously though people we need to pour those vaccines over India like crazy before it mutates and the spike protein is no longer the same. Cause if it does we are fucked – top three vaccines only train our immune systems to recognize that damn protein spike, not the rest of the virus body.

    • Watson says:

THIS. Thank you!! People need to realize that we don’t live in bubbles, and that countries are just imaginary lines on a map. Just because your country is vaccinated well doesnt mean that you will escape the potential effects of a variant that developed because we were too selfish to share vaccines or medical supplies . Karma is cyclical!

I donated to the Red Cross in Canada which has a special section that will funnel the money to Red Cross India. The devastation there is real.

  46. Mina_Esq says:

Harry is involved in literally the most important cause of the moment, and still they find dumb ways to spin his involvement. So what if he is surrounded by celebrities? People pay attention to them, and it means Harry is relevant.

    • equality says:

In contrast Will has Shakira and Cate Blanchett on his committee for the EarthShot Prize and it still doesn’t seem to be getting much attention.

      • Mina_Esq says:

Meh. While environment itself is a critical issue, the prize idea isn’t urgent. Vaccine equality is.

      • Mina_Esq says:

Meh. While environment itself is a critical issue, the prize idea isn’t urgent. Vaccine equality is.

  47. Pamuk says:

The RF is in for a huge piss fit once the world opens. Harry and Meghan will travel to those commonwealth countries where they funded new disaster ready kitchens and I am sure when leaders and officials in those countries know they are coming they will want to be seen welcoming the Sussexes. It will be like a royal tour only better because it will be all charity work. People will line streets and pack buildings to see this couple. The RF will never get even a 10th of the popularity the sussexes have now.

    • L4frimaire says:

The thing is they’ll be doing all sorts of events, both public and private. Some will get major applause, others polite greetings and then they’ll focus on why they’re at the event. These frontline workers were excited and pumped up to be at this concert/ event, happy to be recognized for their contribution and sacrifice, and yes, really really happy and stoked to see Harry. I just don’t understand this disconnect these trolls have with two very prominent people doing the thing they said they’d do. Even if they just did podcasts from the bat cave, and they’d still be bitter.

  48. Pamuk says:

I think meg stayed away because she’s on maternity leave and wants to enjoy a completely stress free relaxed last few weeks. She gets very puffy in her last month and thats so uncomfortable. She was tortured during her first pregnancy and scared, forced out without security etc. Who could blame her if she wants to lay around her mansion, feed her chickens and love on Archie. Good for Meg, put yourself first girl, much deserved.

    • Carmen-JamRock says:

She’s busy working while out of our sight, tho. She recently convened a roundtable with Girls Inc. and National Women’s Law Center (during the same period of PP’s death and funeral); and throughout Women’s History Month [March[] she did a lot of activities with women-and-girls’ organizations. [see the round-up on archewellDOTcom.]

And as co-chair of #VaxLive she & H really put in the work:
How Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Got Involved With the Vax Live Concert
      bit.ly/2QIfMEl

So yeah……M’s penchant for staying busy and doing real work for impactful results, hasnt waned. It reminds me of the period Jan to May 2019 when we didnt see her but definitely saw the fruits of her labour afterwards (history-making Vogue, etc., followed by the birth of Archie)

    • swirlmamad says:

Very true….she may very well be due by the end of the month — it’s already May. Whatever the reason, she needs to put her feet up and take a well-deserved rest.

  49. BlueToile says:

Does anyone know HOW H&M became involved with this concert? I only ask because I saw someone in a comment section somewhere dragging on them saying that THEY were the ones who reached out to be involved (like that’s a bad thing? 🤔) and they only did it for attention, because of course “narcissism.” It doesn’t matter to me, and I pointed out that IF this were true the original organizers were free to say no to the Sussexes, and were certainly not obligated to make them co-chairs! How did this rumor get started? Anyone? I heard the same thing when Meghan addressed a video to her old high school graduation last year.

    • Keri says:

The CEO of Global Citizen, Hugh Evans, reached out to Harry and Meghan. The haters are all out trying to make it seem like H & M were trying to insert themselves into these global issues and it turns out it’s everyone else who wants a piece of them. It’s hilarious to watch the mental gymnastics when it’s obvious the haters have nothing! See link to a twitter thread.
      https://twitter.com/archiemeghaz/status/1389265748162457601?s=21

      • BlueToile says:

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I am not on Twitter, but was able to read a number of the comments on that thread. Its good to see positive people closing ranks around this couple.

  50. Missy says:

Daily fail and the usual hater bullshit aside the issue of vaccine equity is quite concerning. Distribution to rich nations. Hoarding raw materials. Intellectual property. My god why is it that politicians always cave to big business and the profit motive. Just read a quite interesting article about IP rights. I recommend.
    https://newrepublic.com/article/162000/bill-gates-impeded-global-access-covid-vaccines

  51. SusanRagain says:

I’m so tired of all the constant negativity on social media.
The Internet supposedly has the power to bring humanity closer together.
Yet, day in and day out, the endless sniping, bullying, insulting comments made about people who the commenters have never and will never meet face to face IRL, it is just endless.

The Daily Mail, The RR, the tabloids, etc. My word!

H & M have been followed, hounded, tracked, spied on, commented on for years now. From the day the were suspected of being a couple and it’s just constant.

I feel like their popularity in US is going to be a stone around their necks.
I hope they have a healthy baby, enjoy their time together as a new little family, but most of all I hope they stay safe!

John Lennon had stalkers and was killed by a “fan”, Diana was hounded into dangerous situations by the paps, even The Queen has had intruders at BP. Lord Mountbatten was killed by a bomb, ffs.
Look how many celebs have had strangers break into their highly guarded, gated homes.
The young actress Rebecca ? decades ago, opened her own door only to be shot and killed by a “fan”
Keanu Reeves had 2 stalkers inside his home, in a private gated community, in less than a 6 month time.

Prince Charles and The Queen are each enormously wealthy, yet Charles no longer pays for security for H & M?
WTH is wrong with Charles? Your son, his wife, your grandchildren!! Wake up.

But, Andrew is living comfortably. Protected by The Firm.
Abolish the monarchy after Elizabeth. Open BP as a tourist attraction. Be done with them all.

  52. blunt talker says:

I have one thing to say to the bm(bowel movement tabloids)-if Harry is working on charities that he and Meghan truly believe in and want to help-The Sussex family left the Uk a year ago and the UK media is still crying salty tears-As Prince Philip said get on with it-Get on with covering and talking about things to improve the UK-The Oprah interview showed something broke down between the royal family and the Sussexes-The royal family need to get on with it their roles and let Harry and Meghan get on with their lives in the USA-All these royalists and biographers make me sick-they got something everyday going on that really don’t have a damn thing to do with either party-When something happens whether it is good or bad I believe they will inform the public if needed-These people appear to not be able to make a decent living writing something with a purpose or useful-just nasty trashy articles that does no one any good-I AM PROUD THAT HARRY AND MEGHAN DECIDED WHAT WAS BEST FOR THEIR FAMILY-IAM PROUD THEY WANT TO EARN THEIR OWN LIVING WITH NO TAXPAYER HELP-I AM PROUD THEY ARE LIVING THEIR LIVES ON THEIR OWN TERMS-Being on welfare in the monarchy keeps you dependent-you have take what ever is said about you and keep a stiff upper lip-Poor people on welfare have the same problem-they have to take what the government gives them and any rules or guidelines whether they like it or not-American admire Prince Harry for taking a stand to protect his family from the toxic tabloids and possibly family members-Anybody who would not do the same to protect their family from harmful forces is a coward and disgusting human being.

  53. Lizzie says:

The dm wants to know where Meghan is because they worry she had the baby and they only find out second hand.

  54. chanalana says:

Has this aired yet? I really hope Harry says something about vaccine patents. The way Biden has totally backtracked on IP has been pretty devastating for me.

My one criticism of Harry and Meghan is that I think they could be doing a lot more with their activism and breach some controversial territory like Diana did with her charity work. They tend to play it pretty safe, and rely on a lot of platitudes. Hopefully that happens when they get more comfortable with the role, like when the kids are older.

    • Likeyoucare says:

@chanalana go to their archewel website and you can read meghan effort on many controversial issues.
Please dont read what the BM wrote about them. Please dont be a sheep.

      • chanalana says:

Mental heath, school lunches, equity are broadly popular initiatives, nothing controversial. It could be controversial what one might propose to tackle these issues, but I’m not seeing anything like that on their site. Nothing they’ve done yet really compares to holding hands with HIV patients in the 90s, walking through mine fields. And I’m not a sheep. I’m a fan of theirs. I understand they’re just getting started.

It’s one thing to say “we should sell India vaccines” it’s another thing to say “India should be allowed to manufacture life saving medicine because restrictive IP is killing them.” I hope Meghan makes Harry more bold in his charity.

  55. Randie says:

We have only seen the tip of the iceberg in Harry’s boldness.
He is Thriving and so are others becaus3cof him…
