Yara Shahidi in Dior at the Met Gala: one of the best looks?

Yara Shahidi was one my favorite looks last night, in this Dior crystal-embroidered gown with a gold tulle cloak and hood. This is so strikingly pretty with some lovely touches. The gloves and the billowing cape make it look romantic and like a fairy tale. I love the delicate diamonds at her head and how her gloves are a slightly different shade from her dress. Her styling is gorgeous too. This whole look is a dream. Yara said that her dress was inspired by Josephine Baker.

Rachel Zegler was also in Dior, she’s going to be in West Side Story. She said this dress was inspired by a tarot card. The design looks incredible I just wish I could see more of it.

Mary J. Blige was in Dundas, in a striking deep v-neck lace up sequin gown.

Spanish singer Rosalia had on Rick Owens. Her train was so long that she definitely got noticed on the red carpet. I loved the drama of this and she was really sweet in her interview with Keke Palmer. Her boots are ridiculous and awesome.

Those red boots are making me uncomfortable

Yara though! It’s so delicate, so pretty! I’ve never wanted to own a pair of long gloves before, but this makes me want to

Best looks of the night, imo

    Yara Shahidi is stunning.

l LOVE her look. Just wish they left off the veil; made it “Bridal” to me. Just with the diamanté headband it would be stunning. The gloves were a brilliant touch.

    • Christine says:

      Totally agree, she is flawless!

Yara looks gorgeous. I love everything about it.

Yara Shahidi’s outfit was beautiful, but I would not have known it was in homage to Josephine Baker except that I was told so, but that’s on me. I wish they had better narrowed the theme. It seemed that a good number of people just took “America: A Lexicon of Fashion” to mean “old Hollywood stars.”

I know Mary J. Blige’s look is particularly groundbreaking in its style (and whether it fits with the theme is arguable) but I don’t really care about any of that because I can’t get past how freaking stunning (and HOT) she looks in that. Dayum. That’s all I have to say.

The Josephine Baker look brings back real glamour. Sexy not naked. I hate sounding like a prude but those VMA and some of these Met looks aren’t even creative beyond how much body tape needed to keep the last remaining thread from flapping. Fashion is an art. Can someone ban Kendall Jenner from this thing?

  7. (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I can’t imagine being able to *stand* in those boots, let alone walk, and UP STAIRS yet!! (Similar boots were *big* in the 70s though not *quite* as “chunky”).

Maybe it’s me…and I admit I’m not a fashionista, but I’m failing to see how a lot of these gowns (in all the threads), are part of the “American Lexicon” theme. I found this: “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”: This year’s Met gala is all about fashion made in the U.S.A.” So does this just mean the designers need to be American? Or is it just a “nod” to American designers? I’m seeing Cowboys (Dan Levy/JLo) to Religious Icons (Iman) So I’m not getting the theme.

    • Mac says:

I can’t believe there were no looks from Donna Karen or Norma Kamali. They are quintessential American designers.

  8. Lululu says:

I absolutely loved Mary J. Blige’s look, she was my pick for best dressed last night. I think I gasped when I saw it, she looks stunning.

  10. Carmen says:

Yara for the win. That outfit was stunning.

  11. Emma says:

    Just perfect.

  12. Seraphina says:

Mar J looks awesome, the glamour of Josephine Baker is spot on and I thought I could never dislike fringe. I was proved wrong

  13. Ctgirl says:

I’m surprised that no one went with vintage Halston.

  14. K says:

Here for all of these ladies. Also anyone see Iman?! Spectacular

  15. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

That gown on Yara is BREATHTAKING. That’s the most beautiful gown I’ve seen in some time.

    Beautiful looks.
