Chrissy Teigen had buccal fat removal on her face: was that all she did?

Model Chrissy Teigen wearing a Georges Hobeika dress arrives at the 2019 Baby2Baby Gala held at 3Labs on November 9, 2019 in Culver City, Los Angeles, California, United States.

At the end of the day, I kind of think Chrissy Teigen is just a bored, melodramatic trophy wife. Like, she’s not your friend and she’s not inspiring. She’s just a rich a–hole with too much time on her hands. She fills the void in her soul by bullying people, being extra on social media, whining and getting plastic surgery. Even though she’s been nominally “cancelled,” Teigen still posts a ton of sh-t on Instagram. A few days ago, she revealed that she has gotten even more plastic surgery on her face. She got that “buccal fat removal” surgery, and they removed fat from her face. You can see the video below, where she says: “I did that Dr. Diamond buccal fat removal thing here… And since I quit drinking, I’m really seeing the results.” She’s allegedly been off alcohol for fifty days, although I guess we’re not supposed to remember that she claimed to stop drinking several years ago.

My opinion: she had more done than fat removal. I don’t even understand that procedure and I don’t want to understand, so don’t @ me. My guess is that she not only had fat removed, she also had some kind of facelift to make everything look “sharper” and less “lumpy.” I’m not sure I’ve ever seen her jawline look like that. And her forehead definitely looks like it’s been “pulled.”

Stupid move. In 5-10 years she will wind up pumping her face full of fillers, wishing for that softness again.

    • gaga says:

      You are so right!

      • psl says:

I have been saying for years, if women would just gain 10 lbs, they would not have to put all this crap in their faces. They’d have the natural fullness and look so much better than super skinny body and face full of fillers!

    • Natters says:

Yes, I have very full cheeks and was wondering if I should get this procedure because in photographs my face looks fat even though I’m not but all my older friends say definitely not to do it. They said when I get older my face will look very sharp and older without the fat so I won’t.

      • Kaykay says:

Your face look fat … in pictures?
Please don’t alter your face to look better in pictures. I see all these women who look ridiculous in real life, just because they have contoured and filled their faces with crap just so they will look good, from one angle, in selfies.

      • Alexandria says:

Are you my twin? I hate taking photos because of this. I was also thinking of buccal fat remove but I’m scared I look older. The other alternative is jawline Botox. Unfortunately I think sometimes I look like a chipmunk. Yeah my self esteem is not good.

      • Katherine says:

As a photographer, your face will drastically change shape depending on lens length, on how your face is lit, shooting angle, and which muscles are engaged in that split second you get photographed in. I honestly wouldn’t try to change face to get better photos, it’s very obvious when people do that and it doesn’t look natural in photos. Get a better photographer.

      • Bellah says:

@Natters. I have a very angular face and many years ago I had a minor bout of peripheral edema (face swelling) during a high altitude hike. I still love the look of my full cheeks when looking at the photos today.

My point is we tend to want the opposite of what we have. Please reconsider doing any surgical changes to your lovely cheeks. There are many out there who would go to great lengths (or heights in my case🙂) for fuller cheeks like yours.

        Embrace your unique loveliness. ❤️

      • CityGirl says:

I had fat chipmunk cheeks thru my mid thirties…then it went straight to jowls. I much prefer the chipmunk cheeks

      • Veronica S. says:

I always hated my roundish face for this reason since I photograph so badly, but as I’ve gotten older (and taken care of my skin, mind), I do notice people think I’m slightly younger than I am. Hoping that sticks around in my forties and fifties lol. Mainly it annoys me because I have my mother’s sharper nose, which works well on her very angular face, but I think it clashes with my heart shaped features. Ah well. At least I’m a case where the real life is better than the photo.

      • FeatherDuk says:

I’m 42 already, approaching 43, still waiting for my chipmunk cheeks to disappear. I think I’ll just go ahead and take the plunge. I look at my aunts who are all 20 years older than me, they still have the cheeks too. Except now they sag.

      • Golly Gee says:

There is a saying: after age 50, the extra 10 pounds on your ass your face will thank you for.

      • athena says:

I am 49 and in spite of being slim have always had “chubby cheeks.” It used to bother me when I was younger but as I’ve gotten older I’ve been really glad to have a fuller face.

    • Char says:

I saw this IG account filled with the before/after of this surgery and 99% of the people who sent the pictures regreted in one, two years. The face colapses without the fat in the cheeks. She already looks bad. And worst, she looks desperate for any atention she can get. She should’ve spent this money in a terapist.

    • observer says:

came here to say this…chrissy is in her 30s (like i am, and i’ve already NATURALLY lost a ton of buccal fat due to aging)….does she really not know that at our age it’s not a good idea? when i gain weight, i look younger because my face becomes fuller. and when i’m very thin, i look so much older. past your mid-late 20s you begin to lose it unless you have very unusual genetics, so…she should already have seen a decrease in it…

i think this is a cover for something though. no way did she ‘just’ get buccal fat removal.

there’s no shame in getting plastic surgery/cosmetic procedures, just be honest about them. it’s when celebs lie or say they ‘just’ got X or Y done that i get really annoyed.

her lack of buccal fat won’t make her any happier anyways but still questionmarks erupt because it does look like she actually did it, i just think it’s a cover for other procedures she neglected to mention as well.

    • Eleonor says:

      This.
Baby fat in the face is amazing: I had a serious case of baby face (which was not Chrissy case, I think) and now I am 40 I really appreciate it !

    • Mustang Sally says:

Her chin seems….pointier? I feel like she had something done to (read that: implanted) in her chin. I also wonder if she had ‘cutlets’ put into her cheeks.

  2. Edith Bolton says:

She was pumping her face with fillers before. Her face was getting wider and wider. Now she’s had some removed and other procedures but she’s calling it “fat” removal to account for the adjustments. Easier to admit that than say “I’ve been messing with my face forever!!”

    • bluhare says:

That’s what I think also. She had the cheek implants removed and a shit ton of filters on the photos.

    • Nan says:

I think she had implants/fillers removed too. Her face looked pretty normal when she was younger and then all of a sudden it got enormous, like from implants that weren’t needed in the first place.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

Her face did look normal before. Then it looked “plumped.” And then it looked like she overdid the injections and never let anything settle much. Now? Totally different.

I wonder how her husband feels about this. How this is explained to her children that her mother has so many issues with her physical appear. I wonder is John could be Xcode the bullying, but takes issues with the appearance of his “trophy wife.”

    • Amy Bee says:

Yeah, I think she stopped using fillers or implants.

  3. milliemollie says:

It looks like a whole new face . Nice try, Chrissy, we still don’t buy that you’re a new and changed person.

    • Robyn says:

You can’t cancel a different face! Lmao

    • Robyn says:

You can’t cancel a different face! Lmao

    • BothSidesNow says:

@ milliemollie, add to that that CT didn’t have fat removed her cheeks. No, no, no!! CT had fat removed from her BRAIN, as that is apparently where she has an unlimited supply of fat from her neck up!!!

Give me a f#cking break, JFC!!!

    • Shanaynay says:

It’s all an act. I don’t buy that she’s a changed person. She’s still full of it.

  4. Lou says:

    …Plus about 100 injections.

  5. Jaded says:

Oh she had more done than buccal fat removal…she’s veering into Kardashian territory now.

  6. Noki says:

Aha ! Thats what Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss must have gotten years ago. I always wondered how they managed to have constant sucked in cheeks.

    • Alexandria says:

It’s also what Bella Hadid did so that her jawline pops out. I don’t really fault celebs getting it. You photograph better and they need the jobs.

    • shalla7 says:

@Noki: sometimes the sucked-in cheeks look is natural. When I was a teen some friends of mine commented that I had “shadows” on my face, i.e., under my cheekbones. I’ve always had an angular, high-cheekboned face–no cute chubby cheeks for me, instead I have always had “tennis ball cheekbones”, which I appreciate. But now that I’m older, I wish the other parts of my face would be fuller/rounder. As others have noted, green grass syndrome, lol!

  7. Lila says:

Her face is scaring me. She looks REALLY different.

  8. Ariel says:

Paid sponcon????? Or advertisement for free services.
Guessing her revenue streams have dried up quite a bit.
And- why would you remove fat from your face.
She is a model, she has a lovely face.
Perhaps she needs to lean away from cosmetic procedures and into therapy.

I mean we all have moments we are less than proud of, we all have worst moments.
But telling a teen to kill herself in a direct message?
It just seems worse than a lot of other things.

  9. Lemons says:

Are the celebs okay? Like this is just starting to look painful and scary. While the rest of us are still trying to use serums and creams and injections to stave off the effects of aging, these people are literally looking like aliens. It’s giving Lizard People with human skin disguises.

    • Marie55 says:

Totally @lemons!!! It’s legit scary to look at. I feel sorry for Chrissy that she thinks she needs a procedure like that. You have to go under anesthesia and be on a liquid diet for a week. Like, you are already a model! just be with your kids and enjoy life and stop staring at yourself so much!

    • remarks says:

I’m glad this question is being asked.

Is it normal to want to look radically different rather than just make a slight improvement?

I’m suspicious of everyone on Instagram too now.

    • psl says:

And they all look the same, which is the scariest part. I am waiting for a more natural look to come back, because this is awful.

      • Marie55 says:

Yes @psl, they look like contoured zombies.

      • Turtledove says:

Yes, psi. They all look alike and that is insane.

Full disclosure, in the early 90s I plucked the everlasting life out of my eyebrows to have that super skinny brow look. Noit only that, but I plucked the “tail” end completely so that I could draw in a new/false arch.

Well, for many people, if you do that long enough, they DON’T grow back. I now have “spock stumps” that require me to draw in my eyebrows daily lest I look like an alien. I very much regret this, and it is “just” brows. These celebrities are changing their entire faces to suit a TREND. Their actual permanent faces will at some point soon go out of style. Someone needs to tell them!

    • CROOKSANDNANNIES says:

Are the rest of us using injections? I honestly don’t know how many real people/non-celebrities actually do cosmetic treatments like that. I consider injections to be part of cosmetic treatment interventions, even if it’s not technically surgery.

    • Bros says:

She looks like jim carey in the mask.

  10. remarks says:

Can’t tell if this actually makes her face look better or not. I have this same reaction to Tori Spelling.

I also didn’t realize that plastic surgery required so much hard work. Doesn’t seem worth it if you have to waste that much time prepping and then doing the after-treatment (or whatever that is). I thought the benefit of plastic surgery was that it could cut down on time spent on make-up, But that doesn’t appear to be the case…

  11. MangoAngelesque says:

You can change the face, but it doesn’t change the soul. We still see you, Chrissy.

  12. Daphne says:

I’m no fan but her being open about her attempts to get dry are helping a lot of people.

  13. Aeval says:

“She’s allegedly been off alcohol for fifty days, although I guess we’re not supposed to remember that she claimed to stop drinking several years ago.”

Or maybe we could just accept the fact that attempts to quit don’t always stick? Considering it’s been less than a year since she suffered pregnancy loss and her whole public image has tanked in recent months (due to her own behavior), it’s easy to understand why she might have slipped.

Sometimes it takes a few tries. Sometimes it takes what feels like endless attempts to kick it. It’s always worthwhile to try again.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

      Ok, let’s address this.
Chrissy states her problems with alcohol as alcoholism and she needed to quit. No shame for that, but was that the truth?
Chrissy was on a personal promotional tour when this statement came out. She said it was because she had a few days where she day drank with friends At brunch and said stuff she was embarrassed about. Then she also had a few nights (none of this was back to back) where she drank and felt bloated the next day when she had to fit into tailored clothing. So she labeled herself an alcoholic and received love for recovery.
I’m not embellishing or diminishing. That was it.

Since, she has drank and not had issues according to herself and others.
If you know true alcoholics like I have it’s not a matter of feeling a bit bloated the next day or being too chatty at a mimosa brunch. It’s a disruption in life and health. She exploited this as a talking point for her own personal gain.

  14. Nyro says:

So this buccal fat removal has hit the mainstream now. 🙄 I long for the days where cosmetic surgery wasn’t common place. Women ate literally cutting out the fat in our cheeks now and for what? She doesn’t look any better than she did before. I hate what Instagram culture has done to women. There was a time when a woman her age was pretty much comfortable with the way she looked. Now its like 35 year old women and older are as insecure as the average awkward 14 year old.

    • Betsy says:

Yup. I flat out refuse to try to walk carefully down that hill because it’s iced. People who go down that hill end up sliding to the bottom.

  15. L4frimaire says:

This woman isn’t even 40 yet and she’s already wrecking her face.

  16. Kaykay says:

You start picking at your face in one place, an imbalance occurs and you have to go correct something else.

When I look at pictures of her from the mid 00’s her face is very different.
Fillers in her bottom lip, at least.
    Clearly a nose job.
    Eyebrow lift.
She used to have big cheek bones, but I’m not sure they used to be big like this.
Her chin used to be much more rounded, almost square. Now it’s V-shaped.

Another great example for me,. I will never touch my face.

  17. Imara219 says:

So she had fat removed from her cheeks so her jaw could look more chiny? Weird

  18. ItReallyIsYouNotMe says:

She looks like Lori Loughlin in these pictures. Also the comments above about cheek implants make me wonder if her cheek implants went awry because she gained weight? That seems like the kind of thing that could definitely change the proportions of your facial appearance.

  19. Voominvava says:

I looked this procedure up on google as I hadn’t heard of it.. saw some before and after photos and I’m positive that the other name for it is Japanese potatoes. 😊

    • BothSidesNow says:

@ Voominvava, hahahahahahaha!!!! Now I need to look up what a Japanese potato looks like!!

    • razzles says:

      LOL.

Exactly what I thought of. Her and other Japanese potato eater have always given off the same vibe. Now we know– bc they’re the same pick-me, bully-bitches hiding behind pretty privilege and their men.

J Law also ate some Japanese potatoes a while back, btw. 😉

Ari might’ve scarfed some of the same, but she’s in a whole other boat.

  20. ME says:

I’m guessing she got it done for free in exchange for naming the doc? Rich people always get everything for free. Also, fuller faces age better. She’ll want that fat back later !

  21. olliesmom says:

No matter how thin I got when I was younger I always had a chubby baby face. Now that I’m almost 60 I’m so glad that I have it because you lose volume in your face as you age.

    • Alexandria says:

But then do round faces get heavier jowls?

      • Pinellas Pixie says:

From my personal experience, yes indeed we do. I went my whole life with a “fat face” and now I’m starting to get hideous jowls. I might as well laugh bc I’m not having it fixed.

  22. Coco says:

Why do they all what to look like blow up dolls? Do they ask these plastic surgeons to look as less human and lifeless as possible.

I wonder how they’re kids react, I’ve seen babies have meltdowns because dad shaved off his beard. I can’t imagine the reaction with mommy coming home with a new face every other week.

  23. grabbyhands says:

Is buccal fat code for implants?

Also, I see it didn’t stop her from heavy filtering anyway.

  24. remarks says:

In the video, it almost sounds like she’s trying to convince herself she likes it.

People used to freak out a bad haircut and dealing with it. I’m not sure how you deal with something like this if you don’t like the results.

  25. JesusChrist says:

She needs to stop fucking with her lips. Looks ridiculous. She is such garbage.

  26. brubs says:

This procedure is very common here in Brazil and the consequences are awful, the fat that they remove is needed for the face and there is no way to put it there again
a lot of people end up looking like zombies with a sunken face
I really wish these things didn’t become “trendy”, a lot of people will regret it later

  27. Green Desert says:

Gah, she’s exhausting. With how she treated Courtney Stodden (and others) and these kinds of social media posts, it’s so clear she needs some really good mental health support.

  28. Isa says:

Buccal fat removal is a huge mistake.

She had filler along her jaw line.

  29. so says:

    2 thoughts :
    1) she clearly had jawline/chin surgery
    2) she seems to be defensive about it so I’m not sure she likes the result as much as she claims in her video

  30. JHo says:

I gained 30 lbs over lockdown and I look younger than I did at 130 lbs. Its shocking to me to remove fat then add filler? I understand the pressure of being in a beauty industry that ages your out at 23- the pressure must be unimaginable. But these facial enhancements are getting out of control

  31. EnormousCoat says:

Another one who now has that generic Kardashian sex robot look. I wish we could stop with the open mouth thing. I know it is supposed to look vampy and sultry, but imo, it looks stupid. If you have a thought, complete it.

    • Suzybontime says:

A lot of people are going to be sorry they started tweaking their faces when they’re young and it should look good anyway. Too many years of filler is not good. Some of it does not even leave and when it does you have to upkeep.,, I wish people could find something better to do…

  32. Cassie says:

There’s apparently an app for influencers where businesses offer free services (I’m guessing in exchange for advertising the services). Dr. Diamond seems like a hack – any SURGEON who maintains an extensive social media account and does a ton of other shit to advertise…I can’t imagine their work is that good. There is not enough time in the day to do all that.

On a side note, if this isnt straight up photoshop, it looks like shes fresh off jawline and chin filler, too. It normally softens up a lot. I’ve seen great chin filler work if projection needs are minimal, but jawline often looks poofy and heavy after awhile. After all, it’s a water-retaining molecule being injected!

  33. Vaper says:

To me her cheeks now have the same look as Eiza Gonzalez and that gorgeous woman that used to date one of those Jonas brothers – Olivia someone???

  34. rainbowkitty says:

That’s def not all she had done unless she used photoshop/filter. She’s as pathetic as they come.

  35. LovesitinNM says:

She very obviously is messing with her face. Fillers for sure, lips also, probably that botox to work out the symmetry. But yeah she has plastic surgery face now. I hope she stops.

  36. LovesitinNM says:

She very obviously is messing with her face. Fillers for sure, lips also, probably that botox to work out the symmetry. But yeah she has plastic surgery face now. I hope she stops.

  37. Meghan says:

She’s very beautiful but I have a hard time reading about her after seeing how she treated Courtney Stodden in the past. The things she said were awful.

  38. Yonati says:

    Another Khloe Kardashian lookalike.

  39. Sarah I says:

I think she looks better. She was looking awful. I think she is definitely drawing attention to only one thing, when she has had procedures done, because she looks very diff.
