    Surprised there wasn’t a post about Charlene…

    • NorthernGirl_20 says:

I was waiting all morning for that post too.

      • Jan90067 says:

Me thinks Albert doth protest too much. Those loooooong explanations of ALL the things people “might” construe… wow!

I’m wondering if this is a gaslighting 5150 situation and he just wants her locked away where she can’t say anything against him or for herself.

While she looks awful, I just don’t buy this is just “exhaustion”. I think Albie doesn’t want a divorce at his door, and this is a way to keep her under lock and key so she doesn’t go “rogue” and try anything (like taking the kids and moving back to SA).

    • Bettyrose says:

      What’s up with Charlene??

ETA: OIC. Well the Riviera’s probably probably got some really great “treatment facilities” for vague illnesses related to husband exhaustion. I don’t envy her life but I would love to be catered to and pampered in a luxurious spa right now.

      • Carrie says:

When I read that Albert and his family staged an intervention, a red flag was raised. If her family were also involved in the discussion, then it would be less concerning. She might very well be at a medical treatment center for legitimate health concerns, or she could be “tucked away” in Switzerland. It could be like a gothic horror novel.

      • Seraphina says:

@Carrie, I agree on the gothic horror novel thought. So strange the way he worded it. Something is off, way off. And I really hope Charlene makes it out sane and healthy.

    • Rhea says:

The situation is so fishy! According to People mag, Prince Albert says “she was clearly exhausted, physically and emotionally. She was overwhelmed and couldn’t face official duties, life in general or even family life.” What is happening?!?! I find it very weird that he said she couldn’t handle family life. Am I suspicious or does this seem like a setup?

      • fluffybunny says:

She hasn’t even been home a week. I’m assuming the kids have school and nannies so how much of the family life is she actually participating in? I get she’s sick and needs to recover but the shot at her about family life seems kind of a low blow.

      • Seraphina says:

You aren’t the only one that thinks it’s a set up. The signs were there from the very beginning (which for me were the haircut) and then it all spiraled down hill. And now this. Kinda makes me nauseated to think about all that she is going through and I hope I am wrong. What is even more unsettling is people are HOPING it’s medically related and it’s not Albert tucking her away. It reminds me of how Rosemary Kennedy was tucked away.

      • Miranda says:

The “family life” part…he’s just calling her a shitty parent, not even trying to be subtle. It sounds like a clear attempt to turn her children and the public against her, so that if she does try to get a divorce, she won’t get custody. I wouldn’t put it past him to prevent her from seeing her kids at all.

      • Houghlihann says:

I’ve got a lot of autistic family members, and I’ve always gotten spectrumy vibes from Charlene: she doesn’t handle change, lots of public attention, or crowds well; she gets overwhelmed and isolates, runs away, or shuts down; her facial expressions in pictures are always a little stilted; she struggles with meaningless protocol; she uses a lot of formulaic sentence patterns, etc. Girls her age were rarely diagnosed as children, and spent their teens and 20s being misdiagnosed. A lot of adult women aren’t getting diagnoses until they’re in their 30s, 40s, or 50 now.

I can’t put my finger on it, but she reminds me so much of the adult women autists I know.

      • Bettyrose says:

@Hough – I have similar experiences to you. I’m not familiar enough with Charlene to make that same observation but based on your observations that sounds plausible. My gawd I hope she’s not institutionalized against her will. I can’t believe this is still a thing husbands can do in 2021.

    • Summergirl says:

Me too. I’m assuming there might be a drug abuse situation?

      • Hyrule Castle says:

        That poor woman.
I read the people story, & the things her husband said, the way he worded it all, he’s really throwing her under the bus.
How horrid for him to do to get. It really sounds like he hates her.
It went far beyond information to the public, because she’s a public figure.

If it’s drugs, like an addiction to pain killers, who can blame her. Married to him must be devastating.
Depression, deep depression, about the way her life is not her own, is my guess, especially when he totally treated her like that in an official statement. Imagine how her voice has been silenced for over a decade.

      • Lila says:

I could see that. Between Albert calling it an ‘intervention’ and narrowing out a ton of causes, that is certainly one of the remaining causes. I really feel for her. It sure doesn’t feel like ‘privacy’ when a bunch of stories are specifically denied. He really could have just called it exhaustion and left it at that.

    • Sofia says:

Honestly there’s plenty of rumours about Charlene and I genuinely hope she’s okay. For her sake, I hope she heals.

  2. ME says:

Did anyone see that horrific video of the ex-NFL player who beat the sh*t out of his ex-gf in front of their 5 month old son? Horrific.

    • Jan90067 says:

The ex-Jets guy…yes… OMG…the RAGE!! The fact that this woman doesn’t have worse injuries; he threw her around and into that tv like she was a rag doll.

I hope that POS gets *real* jail time, but being that it’s FOOTBALL and DV against a woman, it’ll probably just be “rehab” and “anger management” with probation.

  3. MCG says:

My Spidey senses are tingling regarding Serene Charlene. I hope she’s ok…

  4. Plums says:

Not surprised to hear about Jezebel. It was only a matter of time, tbh. I used to read a ton of those gawker media, kinja connected blogs everyday- deadspin, jalopnik, kotaku, io9, jezebel, etc. But unless there’s a specific story linked to one of them, I haven’t checked them out in years. Not since the parent company was bought out and fired a bunch of longtime writers. I had the feeling that jezebel has been pretty trash for awhile now.

    • Chaine says:

Back in the day it had really sharp, current content that changed my worldview. Now it’s mostly just puff pieces that read like ideas for articles rather than going in-depth or asking important questions. Really sad.

    • Merricat says:

      Sadly, I agree.

    • iconoclast59 says:

@Plums, I agree — Jezebel is a shell of its former self. I still go there, but I probably click on only a couple of articles a week. I still find interesting, relevant content on some of the other Gizmodo Media Group blogs, like The Root, The Takeout, and Jalopnik. I like some of the articles on the AV Club blog, but the commenters there tend to be douchebros. It’s getting harder and harder to find liberal media with engaged commentary. I welcome any suggestions!

  5. FHMom says:

Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges. How is this possible?

    • ME says:

Wait what ??????? F*cking bullsh*t ! I feel so sorry for the victims and their families. Wow.

    • T3PO says:

Because our justice system is a joke and we live in a country based on protecting white supremacy. It’s disgusting. If anyone has any good news please share.

    • Miranda says:

It’s fucking disgusting, I honestly felt physically ill when I saw that. He’s going to be the new George Zimmerman, idolized by the right, who will throw money at him in spite of his inevitable future episodes of violence. This is an extraordinarily dangerous precedent and innocent people will almost certainly die because of it.

    • Kitten says:

We all knew it was coming. The Zimmerman comparison is an accurate one, I think. I wonder how many crimes Rittenhouse will go on to commit?

In the meantime, it’s open season on protesters smdh.

    • Sofia says:

Disappointing but not surprising for some people. Justice is not blind for everyone.

    • Ann says:

The judge needs to be removed from the bench. He wouldn’t allow the prosecutors to show evidence that Rittenhouse actually said he wanted to “shoot rioters” before he ever went into the thick of things that night. He deliberately put himself in a situation where he could shoot someone and cry “self defense.”

The families could file civil suits, but his family doesn’t seem to have much money, so the only point would be to make the point and not actual compensation. Still, I hope they do.

  6. terra says:

Well, it’s no eleven, but my Grandma has seven ex-husbands and is in the next room, so if anyone is really that interested I could ask her.

    • Anners says:

Lol! By comparison 7 seems quite reasonable. Makes me think of that novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (excellent read!)

      • terra says:

Yeah, my Grandma’s romantic history is pretty wild, lol.

The beginning looks pretty normal, even with the divorces:

        1: marry, divorce
        2: marry, divorce
Long-Time Boyfriend (approx. 10 years): date, break up
        3: marry, divorce

        Then it just got messy:

        4: marry, separate, reconcile, separate
        5: date, break up
        4: divorce
        6: date, break up
        5: marry, divorce
7: date, get engaged, break up
        6: marry, divorce
        7: marry, divorce

She also dated #7 as a teenager and carried on a decades long affair with a former boss when she wasn’t married herself (a hard rule between them, apparently). Said boss was an attorney who handled divorces 3-6 for free. And that’s leaving out her shorter relationships and the handful of guys she actually said no to going out with!

      • ME says:

        @ terra

        Well damn !

  7. MangoAngelesque says:

Well, Dominic West’s son already has practice being the son of a man who cheats on his wife in front of the paparazzi, so playing one on TV should be a natural fit.

    Awkward, but natural.

    • Moneypenny424 says:

      Dead on!

    • Ann says:

The article pointed that out, lol. It also suggested that his wife made him call in a nepotism favor to help heat their castle, to make up for the cheating thing. The kid doesn’t really look like William but close enough, I guess.

    • dollycoa says:

Dominic Wests eldest daughter was in Pursuit of Love, which is where he was conducting his affair with Lily James, so they probably turn a blind eye, a bit like The Royals when it came to Charles and Camilla, so not much acting involved all round really!

      • Bettyrose says:

So basically casting calls to play Brit aristos are full of Brit aristo actors who can go full method just being themselves?

  8. hi says:

I’m relatively new to the world of gossip. What does the Celebitchy comment section think about Deuxmoi? Is it reliable? I love blind items for the hell of it, just for giggles, but I don’t care to follow bigoted communities.

    • Lila says:

I follow DM on Reddit. From what I can tell, there’s a smattering of truth, surrounded by some ads, and some incorrect info. Looks like there isn’t much of a vetting process, just everything under the sun getting posted. The comments section (on Reddit, idk about instagram) is where the true gems seem to be. What about you? What’s your take on it?
