Katherine Schwarzenegger: ‘I order off the children’s menu when I go out to dinner’

I don’t really feel sorry for Katherine Schwarzenegger, do you? She threw herself in Chris Pratt’s path, they had a brief courtship and a quick engagement. They married without much fanfare, she got pregnant quickly and she “gave” him a “healthy daughter,” according to him. I think Katherine did exactly what she wanted, and she executed her plan perfectly. She wanted to be married to a big movie star and create her own lifestyle brand or whatever, and she did just that. But yeah, her marriage sounds like it sucks, and Chris Pratt sounds like a sh-tty husband and a sh-tty person. Katherine did Us Weekly’s “25 Things You Don’t Know About –” feature and the uncomfortable admissions and red flags leapt off the page. Here are just some of Katherine’s little factoids:

Fall is my favorite time of year.

I watch makeup tutorials at night on YouTube.

I talk to my sister [Christina Schwarzenegger] multiple times a day on the phone, even though we only live 10 minutes from each other.

One of the most romantic things my husband [Chris Pratt] has ever done for me is hang all our Christmas lights in November.

I order off the children’s menu when I go out to dinner.

I enjoy waking up early and having morning time with my daughter [Lyla, 15 months].

I also enjoy going to bed early. I’m secretly a senior citizen.

During the pandemic, I learned to color my own hair and tint my own eyebrows.

My mom [Maria Shriver] is the first phone call I make every day.

I laughed so much when my husband and I started dating that he thought I had an uncontrollable laughing illness and that [it was the reason] why I was still single.

I’m grateful for all of the strict rules my dad [Arnold Schwarzenegger] had for us kids growing up.

After I put my daughter to sleep, I often look at pictures of her on my phone and am tempted to go wake her up because I miss her.

One of the best compliments I received this year was from my stepson, Jack. He told me my cooking has improved a lot from when I burned his Bagel Bites!

I like matching outfits with my daughter.

I love doing laundry. It soothes me.

We didn’t find out if we were having a boy or a girl when I was pregnant [with Lyla].

[From US Weekly]

“I laughed so much when my husband and I started dating that he thought I had an uncontrollable laughing illness and that [it was the reason] why I was still single….” Oh, girl. We’ve all been there, laughing at a guy’s jokes too hard when we’re trying to impress him. And what he’s really thinking is “oh God, THAT is why she’s still single.” The thing that annoyed me the most on her list? “I order off the children’s menu when I go out to dinner.” FFS. And please, don’t come into the comments with “I order off the kids’ menu too, don’t judge her!” Again, FFS. If you are a grown-up, order from the adults’ menu. If it’s too much food, take home a doggy bag. It’s that f–king simple. Most of the time, the kids’ menu is just chicken nuggets and French fries anyway!! Katherine is one of those women – “look at me, I eat like a bird, I’m so delicate, I always order off the kids’ menu!” GMAFB. Stop infantalizing yourself.

For real, children’s menus are for children. That’s not something to be proud of and it’s a reminder that such a small ‘frame’ is often achieved by denying yourself food.

    • Kebbie says:

They’re always really unhealthy. If she’s worried about calories she should just order a salad with dressing on the side. Grilled cheese, chicken tenders, pizza, Mac and cheese…I guess I get it if you want to eat garbage and not feel guilty about it. But in that scenario I just say life is short, eat what you want.

      • Cate says:

I assumed that because the kid’s menu usually is quite unhealthy and high calorie this wasn’t an admission of dieting behavior, but rather saying she prefers bland and predictable food (e.g. going out to an restaurant that serves really spicy or adventurous food and just ordering a grilled cheese because you can’t take heat or new flavors).

      • Emily H says:

Cate, I read it exactly the same way – she has the tastebuds of a toddler. That is not something to be proud of. Fried chicken tenders and french fries instead of something like grilled salmon and vegetables? Items on the kids menu are so much more high in calories and unhealthy. I loathe adults who eat like four year olds!!!!!

      • Mcmmom says:

I’m with Cate – ordering from the Childrens menu is not about disordered eating – it’s about disliking flavor and spice and new experiences. My kids didn’t even order off the Childrens menu when they were kids because it’s terrible.

She’s so bland. How did Maria Shriver raise such a nothingburger?

      • jbyrdku says:

        That’s how I interpreted it.

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ Cate, I am in complete agreement. Nothing says I have no desire to explore the beautiful and glorious array of the different cultures I can explore with food than “I eat for the children’s menu”. Bleck…..

As for food, I lived in south FL when my children were young and I took full advantage of having access to fresh seafood off of the boats. My kids were eating grilled mahi-mahi kabobs with grilled vegetables or some other fresh fish, stuffed and baked, as I never fried fish. But you can be certain that they ate so much fish, I am surprised that they didn’t grow gills!! Fresh fish, fish in general is so good for you too!!! And lots of fresh fruit and vegetables too as we had a fruit and vegetable stand in near Hollywood that grew their own fruit too!! We ate a lot of fresh fruit and took advantage of picking our fresh fruit and it was so much fun too!!

    • Twin falls says:

Kid meals are cheaper. That’s what I thought she was saying. She’s a cheap date.

      • Hellohello says:

Ha–this reminds me of my grad school graduation when I went out to eat with my (divorced) parents and my step parents. My mom is very small and just had an entre but my dad and (considerably larger) stepmom had apps, drinks and desserts as well, so they spent more $. While splitting the check, my mom got in like a weird state and kept repeating how she was a “cheap date” and “not a little piggy” over and over. I wanted to crawl under the table.

      • Detnow359 says:

Which is even more annoying because of how rich and privileged she is!

    • Queen Meghan's Hand says:

Children’s menus are for *picky* children.
It’s like Katherine is rebelling against her mother’s competence by playing incompetent or skirting the line.

    • coolspray says:

Huh. I didn’t read this as “I’m soooo delicate and tiny, I eat from the kids’ menu to maintain my Size 00 waif like frame.” I don’t get that tone from her.

I read it as I’m a picky / boring / bland eater. I LOATHE kids menus and order for mine off the adult one, because inevitably it’s nothing by various combos of white carbs and melted cheese, with no seasoning or flavor besides ketchup.

    • Snappyfish says:

If the kids menu is about small meals then order an appetizer. If it’s about the actual crap they serve on a kids menu (nuggets, grilled cheese) then grown up. I didn’t realize how annoyed I am by her. The more she talks the worse it gets. I hope she understands that Pratt is never going to be the star her father was

  2. minx says:

She sounds, uh, privileged and dull.

    • Seraphina says:

I almost fell asleep reading the list about herself. There was NOTHING awe inspiring or wow factor. Boring/dull is spot on.

      • HelloDolly! says:

LOL I was actually actively irritated reading this list!!! This is the kind of behavior you see in high schoolers–not an adult. She sounds very emotionally stunted and yes, spectacularly dull. How much of this is a put on? Is she really not intellectually curious at all?

      • Kviby says:

See I found it quite interesting just because it’s sad and she sounds lonely. Hanging Xmas lights is the most romantic thing her rich hub did ? He sucks

      • Sal says:

She just sounds newly in love, new mom. I wouldn’t call her boring.

    • A says:

Toast is too spicy for this woman. The closest thing she has to a hobby is collecting the mail. Her aura is oatmeal.

    • cherry says:

Privileged and dull- and a total victim of patriarchy. From her eating like a bird from the children’s menu to her gushing about her husband hanging christmas lights (wow, give the guy a cookie) to her loving to do laundry to… her (male) stepson making condescending comments about her cooking. Har har, silly girl burned his Bagel Bites!

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ cherry, not only did it sound like the handbook of Stepford wives, but I found her comment about the worst Chris ever when in which he thought she had a mental illness due to her constant laughing. The worst Chris thought she has a mental illness at first? That sounds extremely cruel, ignorant and misogynistic on HIS part!! Who would ever consider a partner that has that impression AND has the audacity to verbalize it? Katherine, honey those are what we call red flags!! You should have run far, far away after that comment!!! Poor Katherine, as she is learning the very hard way of what NOT to look out for in regards to life partner to have children with him.

Though I am extremely disgusted with the worst Chris ever since he made those disparaging very public comments directed at Anna and the “perfect child” with Katherine. I find him revolting in every manner.

    • NotSoSocialB says:

      And embarrassingly thirsty.

    • MyHiddles says:

She sounds like a Stepford Wife.

    • MissStake says:

I agree. Portions can be way too big IMO. Why not get a small meal FFS. Not every adult eats small salads.
Seems every celeb wife is so EXTRA. She’s just a young basic lady. Not for everyone but personally find it refreshing

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ MissStake, absolutely true!! That’s why we share an entree unless we each want our own and take the rest home on a doggy bag! Nothing better than Chinese or Thai food in a doggy bag, or anything for that matter!!!

  3. Angie says:

She is twee and she is basic. The type that thinks that liking fall and eating off the children’s menu is a personality.

ETA – which is fine but really off putting to me. Maybe I’m just not her target audience.

    • pottymouth pup says:

I think she thinks saying this makes her, somehow, more “relatable” Like she’s saying she knows people are aware she was raised in an extremely privileged very rich family & her husband is rich as well but in saying she orders from the kid’s menu she’s trying to get across that despite all the wealth and exposure/access to “snobby” foods, she’s low brow & cheap like regular people

    • Bettyrose says:

And we’re taking fall in Los Angeles. So
she’s really just saying her favorite season is pumpkin spice.

  4. BlueSky says:

Or maybe just order an appetizer??? 🙄 I’m sure she thinks her answers are cute and endearing and caters to that “Midwestern mom” demographic or whatever.

    • Seraphina says:

I love me some chicken fingers – so when I want some I order the appetizer. Why in the world would a grown adult (with kids) order off the kids’ menu. Plus, the sides are gimmicky at best. Not even my 10 year old likes them.

      • tmbg says:

Despite loving it, I don’t like to eat a lot of red meat. When I feel like a burger, I order the kid’s burger at our local place. The adult-sized is just too much food. The kid’s one is practically the same thing but the perfect size, which is why I prefer it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

      • goofpuff says:

@tmbg I agree with smaller and perfect size, but its also super bland and the only topping is cheese or ketchup. So I just order the adult one and cut it half, eat half and save the other for later. Or my husband and I split the adult portion in half and each eat half if its too much food.

Kids meals are really cheap and tasteless on purpose to appease picky kids (I have 2 of them) and I’ve tasted some of their leftovers and yuck.

      • Jennifer says:

I totally read this as “is ordering chicken nuggets.” I do too, but in adult dishes..

  5. Normades says:

Urgh most of the time those menus are finger food friendly junk food.
Even my 10 year old has outgrown the kids’ menu because she wants to eat “the good stuff”.
If you’re watching calories just get a salad FFS.

She is so basic and stepfordly.

  6. OriginalLala says:

Her social media presence is so dull and boring – almost as if her biggest aspiration is to be basic. No one would have paid her any attention if it wasn’t for her parents/heritage.

    • LaraK says:

I think she wanted to be the right wing Blake Lively – you know, the mildly famous wife of a star husband with a picture perfect family, lifestyle brand, and A-list lifestyle without the A-list work.
But Chris is no Ryan Reynolds, and Katherine is no Blake. Sad.

      • fluffybunny says:

I’m pretty sure Blake had hustle pre Ryan Reynolds so if she isn’t working now it’s her choice not because she has no talent. Katherine just seems so bland.

      • Meg says:

This makes sense as his tonedeaf Instagram about her read as him clearly trying to be ryan Reynolds, which is dumb if that’s what people like then they already have ryan Reynolds

    • Mom2Mom says:

How did Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver raise such a basic Stepford wife?

      • Deering24 says:

Could be her personality was squashed by being in such a celebrity/super-wealthy/uber-achieving family. Clans like that do not give female members much space to breathe, much less find out who they are. Add to that the “she draws her sense of self from her dad and other ‘‘Strong Males’” factor, and there ya go. 🙁

      • ElleE says:

Her Mom got her and her brother Patrick involved in one of those Pentecostal megachurches, they are run by white men that kind off all resemble each other. She has written a few books on forgiveness (gulp) and ISTG that US Weekly article read like an early 80’s Redbook exclusive about Marie Osmond.

She seems sweet and damaged and I hope it all works out for her.

  7. Noki says:

She is like the opposite of Maria Shriver.

    • minx says:

Maria came from money yet always worked extremely hard, but KS has never really held a job. After college she wrote a few fluffy books that never would have been published if not for her name.

    • Nina says:

this was my exact thought. how did fierce, strong Maria Shriver raise such dull, delicate, waspy daughter

    • Seraphina says:

@Barbie1, I will give Maria a pass. I do not think it fair to judge the parents in this case. Maria may have been a great strong female role model and her daughter have the exact opposite personality.

  8. TIFFANY says:

And another reason that is a red flag is because Katherine has discussed her history with food and having a disorder.

She tried for so long to try and make a brand out of ‘plus size’, then lost all that weight and got with Pratt.

    • Erin says:

She was heavier before? Not that is matters at all. I didn’t realize that or that she had a history of an eating disorder. Major red flag with the food comment.

    • mariahlee says:

Ohhh, she used to be bigger. That makes so much sense.

    • jbyrdku says:

I remember when she used to be on the ‘plus’ side. It was a long, looooooong time ago and I honestly thought she looked healthy.

    • Yonati says:

Her mother and grandmother probably eat/ate from the children’s menu too…

  9. Deering24 says:

Stunted—and proud of it—is no way to go through life, hon.

  10. Jay says:

I don’t know if this weird brag is supposed to tell us she eats the same amount as a toddler, or that she has the same food preferences that most restaurants believe children have – bland, highly processed, and high in salt. Not charming either way, really.

I don’t even order that sh*t for my actual child, we usually order a bunch of appetizers instead.

    • Becks1 says:

Yeah, I can’t figure out if she’s trying to tell us that she doesn’t eat a lot, or that she eats crap food when they go out to eat. If it’s the latter….why not just order an appetizer? Like if going out to eat is when she indulges and gets her fried food or whatever, just order an app.

      • Anna says:

Or, shockingly, just eat the amount that you want and ask to pack the rest? She sounds like a little girl playing house. I can see how her time with Pratt looks like, he makes jokes at how silly she is and how many things she doesn’t know and she acts cutesy, laughs and pretends it’s funny, not insulting.

    • TeamMeg says:

Most of the restaurants I eat at don’t have a children’s menu.

  11. mellie says:

The only time I order off the kids menu is when we are traveling and go through a drive-thru like McDonald’s or Burger King or something…and that’s only so I don’t gorge myself on that stuff and make myself sick, I’m not trying to be a hero.
Who goes to a sit-down restaurant and orders the macaroni and cheese?!?!?! Just stay home.
    She sounds like a child.

    • Ellie says:

Or Chipotle! It’s $4.25 for two tacos, the same type of tacos you would be getting off the adult menu but with a small drink or juice and some fruit. I prefer that over a 1200 calorie burrito any day, and I’m not ashamed. The burrito doesn’t keep well as carry out and my productivity tanks if I eat the whole thing. That’s my kids’ menu caveat and I’m sticking to it.

    • Aang says:

Same. I only order kids portion at fast food places and the quick service at Disney. It’s the same burger and fries, or at Disney I always get the little pizza, but not huge and it comes with a side of grapes or apples and a juice box. If I get the adult portion I will eat it, especially the fries. And then I’ll feel sick.

    • mellie says:

At Culver’s (it’s a hamburger chain) it’s the exact same size of sandwich as the snack pack, a bit smaller order of fries, or veggies, PLUS you get a free ice cream cone! haha. And yes, I agree with Aang, I always get the kids meals at the “fast” food restaurants at WDW. It’s just enough.

  12. Woke says:

If she really wanted that mom influencer lifestyle she could’ve done so much better than Chris Pratt. She didn’t aim high at all.

    • LaraK says:

Nah, she wants to be a right wing influencer. You can’t go much higher than Chris if you also want to stay republican.

      • Magick Wanda says:

Yep and also Chris wants a political career, I believe. They both see her as an asset that way, her family background and name recognition. She is the perfect little rightwing hausfrau and it’s very sad to me.

  13. Erin says:

I read this at US Weekly and was so hoping you were going to cover this. The whole thing was so annoying. You nailed it with the whole infantilizing angle. She totally is. I’ve known a few girls like that. Only eating off the kids menu to brag about how little you eat bc you’re so dainty. Hot dogs, chicken fingers, pasta or burger? Cool.

Not sure why it irks me so much!

    • Mac says:

I can’t stand when grow women act like babies. It’s such an unappealing affect.

    • Anne Call says:

Food on a kid’s menu is gross and so generic. Pretty sure when I waited tables a long long time ago, adults couldn’t order off kids menu. Maybe she pretends she’s getting it for her daughter? Weird stuff.

      • minime says:

I was actually wondering about that. I don’t think I ever went to a restaurant where you could order from a kid’s menu without having an actual kid… So when she says this I can only think of privilege and cheap, both in the same sentence. I would even be ashamed to just try to order from a kid’s menu without at least having a kid around. That’s just a weird behavior.

  14. WintryMix says:

I mean, to each their own, but honestly the majority of the statements on that list are pretty horrifying to me. Being so enmeshed with your young child that you feel the urge to wake them up when they finally fall asleep? Enjoying laundry because it’s “soothing?” I was a stay at home mom with 2 little kids for several years and I find these comments super weird. It feels like such a performance of motherhood and homemaking. Stepford wife much?

    • Swack says:

I kind of get the laundry thing. I love cutting grass and taking care of the leaves in the fall – always have. But I also admit I’m weird in that respect. If ordering an adult meal is too much food, take home a doggie bag and you have a second meal. Children’s menus are nasty.

    • Piratewench says:

I find laundry very soothing because it’s both tactile and orderly. I love getting all the clothes in neat little piles, and I love the feel of warm, clean clothes out of the dryer. I also love how tiny my kids clothes are, they are both little kids. To each their own!
There are plenty of chores I don’t like but laundry is always soothing to me.

      • TIFFANY says:

Folding them as soon as the cycle stops is the best. I love it during fall and winter months as it feels so comforting.

      • Lorelei says:

@PirateWench and @Tiffany, me too, but I’d never list that if I was asked for 25 “surprising” facts about myself or whatever, lol. She comes across as totally lacking creativity

      • TIFFANY says:

        @lorelei.

We really are just common folk who never had full time maid and housekeeping services since our youth. We had to learn life skills or we would struggle.

She is not relatable and I wonder why she thought that would jibe.

    • AJ says:

I get the laundry being soothing. I love to iron…I mean, really love to iron. It’s my quiet time. Weird I know…but, I’m not trying to make a lifestyle blog about it.

      • AMA1977 says:

I like laundry (I really don’t mind most housework-type chores because I like it when things are clean and orderly, and I listen to music I love on my headphones while I work.) I watch a show I don’t really have to pay attention to while I fold and feel like I’ve accomplished something when everything is clean and folded. But as Lorelai said above, that is NOT an “interesting fact” about me and I would never share it as such!

      • Jaded says:

I actually really like doing housework — dusting, polishing, washing floors, vacuuming, etc. I listen to music on my MP3 and when it’s all done I have a glass of wine and enjoy my clean, organized house. I doubt very much KS does much other than laundry — I’m sure she has a housekeeper to do the heavy lifting because her tool of a husband is probably the type who leaves his dirty skivvies and wet towels on the floor.

    • Anne Call says:

Also total bs. I’m sure they have housekeeper and nanny. She’s trying to be “relatable”.

      • fluffybunny says:

She might not have help based on her mother’s experience with her father having an entire child with the housekeeper. She might be afraid it could happen to her so she doesn’t employ anyone to lessen the chance. I mean he could still cheat while he’s at work but not in her house.

  15. Sandra says:

So she gets chicken nuggets and Mac’n’cheese ?

  16. Sofia says:

“One of the most romantic things my husband [Chris Pratt] has ever done for me is hang all our Christmas lights in November.”

Is it me or is that a low bar? Don’t get me wrong, it IS good when your SO does chores that you normally do and for a lot of people, that makes you feel super appreciated and takes a burden away (especially if you’re busy at work or with the kids) but is it the most “romantic” thing ever? I suppose it is (for the reasons I mentioned above).

But hey, different strokes for different folks I suppose! Your husband clipping your toenails might be the most romantic thing ever for you! I’m just stating my opinion.

    • helonearth says:

I agree – its a very low bar.

They haven’t been married that long and that’s it? The MOST romantic thing is hanging a few lights? Maybe he just isn’t that romantic and she is fine with that but she should be able to come up with something better than that.

    • milliemollie says:

She probably only said that to be relatable for the “poor”. She’s probably also not doing the laundry herself.
It’s just a “Look how humble and down to earth we are!!!”

      • dlc says:

they don’t pay someone to hang the lights? I can’t believe they would rusk marvel money by Pratt galling off a ladder…. I agree she said this to appeal to us commoners.

      • fluffybunny says:

I don’t see them risking the money either. My husband knows someone who was responsible for ending a professional football player’s career during a pick up game of basketball. The pro blew out his knee. Dude still feels guilty about playing that pick up game. He was a rookie so he never got to cash in on the football money due to the injury.

    • BW says:

That struck me as the weirdest quote, too. If that’s the most romantic thing he’s ever done, her love life must suck.

    • Eurydice says:

It could have been a romantic story, if she weren’t so boring. Like, “I was feeling kind of sad with the holidays coming and everything locked down with the pandemic, blah, blah – and one morning I came downstairs to find Chris had decorated the whole house with Christmas lights just to cheer me up.” Something like that.

    • detritus says:

I think it was her attempt at a joke? I hope?

    • TIFFANY says:

Anna dropping this dude makes more and more sense as the day is long.

As soon as Hillsong told him his wife was too opinionated and career oriented and he needed to control that, she bounced. As she should have.

Katherine, I hope, wakes up one day and realize he ain’t it.

      • TheHufflepuffLizLemon says:

Wait, they said what?!? I don’t think I ever read that particular piece of gossip. Good grief.

      • TIFFANY says:

As soon as he went all in on Hillsong, that was when the marriage deteriorated.

Anna said that her light was dimming and it should not have been.

      • North of Boston says:

Another patriarchal institution wanting vibrant women to be “less than” and only half of what they are.

    • coolspray says:

For real I can relate to this. I’m totally turned on when my husband does “house stuff”, vacuums, cooks, etc.

This past weekend I came home in the afternoon after running errands and all the Christmas lights had been hung, the wreaths were up, and decorations out. I was thrilled!

  17. Laura-Lee MacDonald says:

I am concerned about the amount of engagement with her family vs engagement with friends and colleagues. As in, she does not mention friends or colleagues. (And clearly, I am a way worse mom than her, because when my babies would finally go to sleep, I’d practically dance with joy.) I see nothing in these statements that clarifies who she is as an individual with independent interests and sense of purpose. That’s a bummer. But probably why Pratt went for her.

  18. milliemollie says:

“If she was a spice she’d be flour.”

  19. Jezz says:

Her parents are so interesting — for better or worse — how is she such a bowl of mashed potatoes?

  20. Jan says:

Her Mom got her ass handed to her after making a comment about Kyle getting off after murdering two people.
They reminded her that her uncle killed a young women leaving her to drown in a car.
So glad that Arnie had strict rules for his children, but none for himself, banging the housekeeper in his wife’s bed.

    • SomeChick says:

he didn’t have his mom drive him across state lines to purposely murder people. Rittenhouse should be locked up, not celebrated.

    • Emma says:

Maria Shriver isn’t responsible for Ted Kennedy causing the death of a young woman. She was probably little more than a child then. How ridiculous and cruel to blame her!

And just because Ted Kennedy caused a car crash that killed a young woman by negligence or drunkenness (?) long ago, that does not mean we cannot or should not acknowledge and condemn the profound injustice in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and verdict today which have to do with our unbelievably lax gun laws.

  21. Mina_Esq says:

I’m sad for her because the kids’ options never have any actual delicious flavors 🙁 It really isn’t necessary to sacrifice so much to stay thin. There are easier ways.

  22. Sue says:

I get missing your kid when they are asleep. I’m a new mom and the feels are all over the place right now.
I wake up early in order to have time to myself before the little one is up for the day though. It is very much needed for my mental health.

  23. Plums says:

really? the most romantic thing her husband has ever done is to hang the christmas lights? that’s just a regular holiday chore! that’s not a romantic gesture!

and omg with the childrens menu comment. there’s usually a healthy/diet section of menus with adult portions, but no, you order the crap from the childrens menu. she is absolutely infantilizing herself in this interview, and it’s utterly intentional. All that talk about constantly talking to her mom and sister all the time, being grateful for her father’s strict upbringing, loving to do laundry because it’s so soothing, spending her free time when not doing household chores and being mommy on learning how to maintain her appearance- these people know exactly the image they want to create for themselves, and the community they want to appeal to.

    • Lorelei says:

@Plums, let’s not forget that on their anniversary, she gave him a pedicure. Idk, however, if that was meant as a gift for her or for Chris; could go either way with these two

  24. RoyalBlue says:

my MIL always orders from the kids menu when dining in restaurants. She is very overweight and does it to control portions. I don’t judge.

I also believe marriage is what you want it to be. Some people have arranged marriages, some have love marriages, some have marriages of conveniences, political marriages, keeping wealth in the family marriages etc. I think Katherine got the marriage that she wanted.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

      Everything you said.

    • goofpuff says:

The kids meals are small portioned but super high in calories. Sometimes more so than many of the adult meals. I don’t think it helps her lose weight if that’s her worry. She’d get equal calories but more food ordering healthier options from the adult menu. But if that’s her way of getting her junk food desires in but limiting the amount, than more power to her.

  25. LaUnicaAngelina says:

This is a pitiful attempt to clean up the aftermath of Chris “Healthy Daughter” Pratt’s Instagram post. Like, naw, Katherine, your basic ass will not make us forget that.

  26. Stef says:

She’s like Froyo with no flavour or topping added.

Seems she wants us to think her list is cute and endearing, thereby beginning to erase Pratt’s brat IG post, but damn, she’s doubling down! Plain Jane, cutesy, simple, regular folk, rich white girl barfiness is all I’m getting from her.

    Meh. Next!

  27. Eurydice says:

There are restaurants in my city that have “child-friendly” options, usually smaller portions of the adult offerings and pretty healthy. Maybe Katherine wants the crayons that come with them?

If I cared about this person, I’d wonder about her calling her family several times every day – but maybe they just like chatting and sharing experiences.

  28. Veruca Salty says:

Waaait a minute! Most of the time, adults can’t order off the kids menu cuz it specifically states for ages 12 and under only!

    • Kkat says:

If she had weight loss surgery (I bet she did, I did) you can get a card from your surgeon saying you need to eat child menu portions.

  29. Betsy says:

I wouldn’t fault the children’s menu bit (some people are picky eaters, though from the comments I assume this is a disordered eating habit) if it weren’t in the middle of such a sad sack of answers. “The most romantic thing my husband has ever done is something unromantic,” “the most compelling thing about me is how I am like every other woman,” “I exist to make my husband happy and I even pretend that doing laundry is my favorite thing.”

  30. Rachel De Young says:

Children’s menu? Weird. I love leftovers, so give me all the food to take home.

Also, laundry, I also find it soothing. Same with ironing.

  31. whatever says:

I actually order off the kids’ menu occasionally for a number of reasons. I’m vegetarian, and have often been in a situation where I didn’t get to chose the restaurant, and then when I get there I look at the menu and go, “well, I can eat the mac and cheese off the kids’ menu, so there’s that, I guess…”

I also frequently order off the kids’ menu when I’m at a theme park. The food is all garbage anyway, and I can’t finish the monstrous portions they give you. I’m not carrying leftovers around all day, I don’t like to waste money or food, and portion control isn’t the worst thing in the world. Plus the kids meals let you choose carrot sticks or apple slices or grapes as a side, and the adult meals only come with fries. I’d rather have the fresh fruits and veggies.

Sometimes it’s just more practical and frugal to not order more food than you need.

    • Watson says:

I don’t think this kids menu thing is totally crazy either. I also sometimes order from there cause the portion sizes are just too huge for me esp when we go to America. Normally a fan of left overs too but on vacation we have limited hotel fridge space. Shrug.

The thing is, this entire list as a *whole* makes my skin crawl. Kids menus are one thing, but put it together with 24 other bland ass answers and you’ve painted yourself a very beige picture.

      • whatever says:

Precisely. The kids menu thing itself is really not that big a deal. It’s just that she orders off the kids menu not because of budgetary or practical concerns, but because she thinks it makes her adorable. She seems to pride herself on being empty-headed and unchallenging.

Side note: my ex-husband’s family was extremely religious, and the women were all like this. Unchallenging, pleasant, acquiescent, let the man be the star, and you’re just mild background filler. They’re like human NPCs.

      • tealily says:

@whatever Imagine being a NPC in your own life. Sad.

  32. Watson says:

Geeesh. This woman is hella bland and comes across like a stepford wife where all she does is laundry, and wistfully remember the time Chris put up Christmas lights (wtf).

Blink twice if you need to escape, girl.

  33. MY3CENTS says:

Girl, get yourself a hobby, read, educate yourself life is more than babies and laundry. But I guess that’s the target audience or should a dare say potential voters?

    • LoonyTunes says:

We have a winner! This is a pre-campaign spree. He will run as a family valúes, gun-toting Republican (as soon as his Marvel contract is over and he no longer needs our [ungodly heathens] money).

  34. Monica says:

I don’t know this person, of course, but I have a visceral loathing for her persona. So twee, so grinny, so devoted to being “nice.” I read something recently about how she and her mother were not fun to wait on, being needy and demanding. Now I imagine her ordering her tiny hamburger in a baby voice and don’t think I am far off from reality.

  35. mariahlee says:

She’s interesting to me if only because her image is so carefully crafted and unimaginative, there must be something noteworthy under there that she’s trying to conceal. She’s probably a really mean person irl or something lol

    • TIFFANY says:

Considering how she talked about her brother Joseph, whose birth was no fault of his own, yeah, she is a mean girl..

      • iconoclast59 says:

Did she actually say something bad about Joseph? I heard that she barely acknowledged his existence (bad enough), not that she publicly disparaged him.

      • Jaded says:

@iconoclast59 — she totally ignores Joseph. He wasn’t invited to her wedding and on National Siblings Day she posted a childhood photo of herself with her sister and 2 brothers with the caption “I love you guys so much!” but excluded Joseph. Yeah, she’s a mean girl behind that innocent Stepford grin for sure.

      • jbyrdku says:

I don’t think he was even at her wedding…

      • Magick Wanda says:

Yes she has been cruel to and about Joseph. She scheduled her bridal shower (I think) on the same day Joseph was supposed to graduate from high school so that Arnold had to choose. I think he went to the graduation but I’m not sure.

  36. Leslie says:

Either Katherine is the most boring woman, or these answers are BS and she’s saying this stuff to appeal to the Conservative mommy crowd to further Pratt’s brand. Gross.

    • Lorelei says:

Seriously, it feels like this list was compiled and workshopped by her PR people, stripping each sentence down until there was nothing left in any answer that could possibly make her seem unlikable…but it didn’t work

  37. canichangemyname says:

I don’t mind the kids’ menu thing so much. I’ve done it – primarily because it’s cheaper and when I’m not that hungry but need to keep my blood sugar up. It’s not something I’d consider an interesting fact about myself, but I’m not mad at her for it.
Also, I do find laundry soothing – I just enjoy seeing clothes and towels come out warm and smelling so good lol
But putting up Christmas lights was the most romantic thing? Wow, low bar indeed. Learned to do her own hair during lockdown?
I can’t hate on her, she just sounds … incredibly boring *shrug*

  38. D says:

She finds laundry soothing because she doesn’t HAVE to do it and never has. She grew up privileged and is continuing to be privileged. Talk to me when you have a 5 person household with teens who change several times a day and then we’ll see how soothing doing 4 loads a day is. It’s soothing to know you can just pass it off to the housekeeper when you are sick of it.

    • Ann says:

I know! I don’t mind laundry but when it piles up and you HAVE to get it done or no one will have underwear the next day, and you’re already tired from a full day, it sucks.

I once offered to host some kids for an international soccer program my son did. Because I speak some Spanish, I got three boys from Mexico City, which was a lot of fun. They were so different from my son, much more European in a way. It was a a good experience……..except, laundry.

One of the things we had to do was make sure the kids had clean uniforms for the next day, every day. They wouldn’t get home from all the games and activities until around 10 PM, which meant I was awake until 1 AM getting all the uniforms cleaned, dried, and in their sports bags for early the next morning. It sucked. I didn’t offer to host again and that was basically the only reason.

Laundry is fun for those who don’t have to do it all the time…..

  39. Roo says:

I’m sure her husband’s net worth is over $100 million and she comes from immense wealth. Don’t tell me she does her own laundry because I won’t believe you. And don’t tell me HE hung Christmas lights because we know he had the help do that. 🙄

    • goofpuff says:

yeah lol that’s a whole bunch of bull. I agree. No way she does all her own laundry or he hung up all the lights. They 100% have domestic help. Next she’ll tell us she scrubs the all the bathrooms in their house herself.

I know plenty of people who aren’t super rich (middle class) and if they both work and they can afford it, they have someone come in once a week to clean the house and do laundry. I know I did for a while pre-pandemic when I was pregnant my third child. The expense was 100% worth it.

  40. Cessily says:

Truthfully the less I know about her the better.. she sounds like a little girl playing “house”. I guess it’s good that this child orders from the right menu. SMH 🤦🏻‍♀️

  41. Amy Bee says:

I don’t care about the Kids Meal thing. My problem is she said the most romantic thing her husband did for her is hang up Christmas lights in November. Really? That’s the most romantic thing he’s ever done for her?

  42. ChattyCath says:

She sounds like me! But no to children’s menu! It’s gross. Ask for a small portion, only have an appetiser. I’ve loved doing laundry since I was 12! Sadly though I can’t see her marriage lasting to an egocentric A lister. They all like to ‘show off’ wives.

  43. Isa says:

I assume she orders off the children’s menu because she’s a picky eater. Not because of serving size. I would actually like children’s serving sizes of some meals because they’re not good reheated, but it’s never adult means in smaller sizes. It’s just Kraft Mac n cheese and chicken nuggets.

This is one of the most boring ones I’ve read. Even if she wanted to settle down and have babies she had plenty of money and privilege to do something before then. And even after.

  44. NCWoman says:

So my takeaway is that she was desperate to marry before she turned 30, married a man she knew wasn’t right for her, is putting all of her emotional weight onto her daughter, and desperately trying to be thin and pretty and a good-enough home-maker to hold onto this guy she has nothing in common with except religion.

    • Lizzie Bathory says:

^^^ This all feels spot on. I do not see this marriage lasting. Maria & Arnold didn’t work out, obviously, but at least you got the sense that they worked as a couple for a while.

It’s probably because I just finished Season 3 of “You,” but Katherine & Chris remind me of Joe & Love Goldberg–trying hard to project a happy normal family image when the reality is quite different.

  45. girl_ninja says:

I think that there are many women like her who try to fit into an specific Judeo-Christian good girl lifestyle. She doesn’t sound super interesting because she wasn’t raised to be. She signed up for a specific life with a specific type of man and that’s what she’s getting. She may be truly happy or she may wake up one day a realize that she has been living the life of someone she THOUGH she should be.

    • pottymouth pup says:

there’s nothing “Judeo” about this. please understand “Judeo-Christian” was a term created by the religious right (and used by the GOP) for political purposes, when they say “Judeo-Christian” they mean Christian but don’t want to state that specifically

    • Thirtynine says:

I think the Hillsong concept of women is linked to Proverbs 31 and women are defined in that culture as wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters. A Good Woman cares tirelessly for her family and brings honour to her husband who praises her.

I think. I could be wrong.

  46. Leah says:

I knew someone who used to do that (or order off the appetizer menu), only she wasn’t a Kennedy with a movie star father. She was just scraping by on social security. She was also a picky eater who didn’t like large meals.

  47. Pamuk says:

She is obviously still a little girl, from how she orders her food to needing her mommy and sissy everyday. I sense childhood trauma she’s not recovering from.

    • Oria says:

That’s my take away from this too.
Condependency, and fear of “being too much”, so she makes herself as small and complacent as possible.

The strict rules-comment makes me think she was brought up to never make a fuss or have a mind of her own but people-please and put her own needs aside. And that individuality and autonimity was never encouraged.

My initial feeling is that this baby will fill the void within her, that she avoids to fill herself.
      Probably low on self love.

  48. 123Qwerty says:

It’s like she has the personality of one of Jen Garner’s frumpy shoes.

  49. notasugarhere says:

Sure, SisterWife. Make sure to eat like a bird so your lord and master has no complaints about the size of your a$$.

  50. Monica says:

Interesting how Meghan’s dorkiness is endearing, while this one’s makes me want to puke.

    • milliemollie says:

Meghan’s dorkiness is real because she’s her own person and she has a personality.
I can’t really say the same about Katherine.

  51. Olive Malone says:

I have a nephew in his 20’s who is over 6 feet and a college athlete who mostly orders off the kids menu because he has always been a really picky eater. Pizza is even hard because he doesn’t like red sauce. The family joke is that he will only eat “things with cheese.” Grilled cheese, quesadillas, Mac & cheese etc. Plain carrot sticks, maybe cooked green beans. Cut fruit. A buttered bagel or toast. Some breakfast cereals. Chicken tenders, fries, bacon. That’s pretty much his wheel house. He just needs to eat frequently and large portions to fuel his body. I’ve seen him order a few items off the kids menu in one sitting to make a meal for himself.

I had not considered another reason to order off the kids menu besides not being able to tolerate more complex flavors. My taste buds on the other hand must be so dull, I put hot sauce on practically everything!

    • Monica says:

I confess, when I spent a couple weeks taking care of my nieblings while their parents were on vacation, I did whatever I had to to get vegetables into them. Lots of cheese and ranch dressing, as I recall. 😂

  52. Bobbie says:

Next she’s going to say she dusts the house in full makeup and heels. 🙂

  53. charfromdarock says:

She needs to order off the Senior’s menu.

  54. Ann says:

I don’t mind the kids menu thing or even the Christmas lights thing, but in the context of the whole list and her persona in general they are annoying. I mean, Christmas lights can be magical, they put people in the holiday spirit yada yada, so I can see how that passes as “romantic” in its own way. She’s a walking Hallmark Christmas movie, fine. They are cheesy but soothing.

But the business of calling her mother and sister every day, first thing, and missing her daughter as soon as she’s asleep? Can’t relate. Being a close family is great, being too enmeshed is another. Pair that with the kids menu thing, and it’s clear she’s an arrested child and not in good way.

Bland doesn’t even begin to describe it. Basic AF.

  55. Deanne says:

    What an utter dullard.

  56. lunchcoma says:

Bleh. None of these things is awful all by itself, but the whole picture is bland and codependent and sad. I suspect she and Chris deserve each other.

  57. Nyro says:

Imagine having legendary broadcaster Maria Shriver and Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy as your mother and grandmother yet being this much of a dullard. Very “twee” as someone said. What happened here?

    • MaryContrary says:

Right?? And all the people and places you’ve been exposed to over your entire life?! I am agog that this is how she’s presenting herself.

  58. smee says:

bc Chris sez she has to?

  59. iconoclast59 says:

Did anyone else find it weird that Katherine and her sister Christina live only 10 minutes away from each other, but apparently only talk on the phone? Why aren’t they hanging out physically if they live that close? It makes it sound like Katherine’s confined to her house, doesn’t it?

  60. mander says:

Don’t care for her, or Chris, but I sometimes order off the children’s menu. Take-out: Salmon with veggies from one place. $10 cheaper and don’t need their subpar rolls. Kid’s breakfast from another. 1 pancake, eggs, fruit. Healthier and $5 cheaper. Just for reference.

    • Molly says:

Yep. One of my favorite local restaurants offers a salmon filet on its kids’ menu and in addition to it being smaller, it’s also more lightly seasoned than the regular entree, not swimming in weird sauce, and the side choices are healthier. Yeah, it’s cheaper, but I also just prefer it that way.

Kids’ menus have gotten more sophisticated in recent years. In many places, they aren’t just chicken nuggets and mac and cheese anymore.

  61. diana says:

I don’t really find that strange. Full size portion in restaurants are ridiculous sometimes.

    • sassafras says:

This. Plus restaurants in California are different. IDK. This feels like getting offended over nothing when we have conservatives who are legitimately being assholes on purpose so that the country will fail.

  62. Jessica says:

The restaurants I go to won’t let you order off the kids menu if you are over 12 years old…

  63. sassafras says:

I guess I’m not the only person unbothered by this. So she’s bland and wants to be a homey homemaker. She grew up in a house with domestic help and a career-focused mom and dad so it’s not like she wouldn’t know how to take that path. She’s actively choosing a different route and my feminism says she can do that. I have cousins like her who are all pumpkin spice and Sunday school crafts and chicken fingers and they’re harmless (especially because they forget to vote, so… no one remind them…)

    • TigerMcQueen says:

I’m unbothered too. She sounds boring, but I don’t get the vitriol directed at her. There are so many richer targets for people’s ire than this.

  64. Imara219 says:

Her whole list is a shrug. I’m a basic AF person as well and a lot of the ish she said I sorta do. When my son loved McDonald’s chicken nuggets I used to order me a set as well. I routinely order the kids shrimp meal from my favorite seafood place because the platter is close to the same amount as the adult but 3 bucks cheaper and I feel less gulity. I probably stared at my infant son’s pictures at night until he was around 15 months old.

I mean cutting her down just to do it seems odd. Like if Adele or Jenn Lawrence or a similar popular woman said these things would it be the same reaction? Who cares? A student once told me “don’t call yourself basic for liking regular things or boring things” and honestly it got me thinking about how society likes to creatively diss people especially women who are extraordinarily plaid.

This lady had a goal to be a wife and mother. She accomplished her goal and she seems happy.

    • Travelin says:

I agree in general. And I want to like her. But every interview just makes things worse! I get the impression that she doesn’t just want to be a wife and mother and love her family. She wants to be a lifestyle influencer. Apparently has wanted to for many years. See the many fluff books she has had published based solely on her name and connections. And in that light it is fair to be critical. She is not aspirational or interesting enough! Even when Jack said that her cooking has improved he was talking about frozen bagel bites. I haven’t eaten something like that since middle school!

  65. myjobistoprincess says:

I find her bland and boring too. But some people enjoy their existence like that. I’m not sure if she’s ever worked like a real job before, but it seems like her pink little bubble is her family and her house, baby and husband. She calls her mom first thing, talks to sister who lives 10 min away, misses her kid in the evening, becuase she doesnt see anybody else. I mean, its sounds like the life of a stay at home mom who doesnt have a social life? Chris prefers his wife cute and tamed. They’re happy – they’re the only ones in the world…

  66. Valerie says:

    Oh, isn’t she cute. 🙄

  67. CanadianK says:

Where I am from, ordering off a kids menu as an adult is as about acceptable as those single men who park in “ pregnant and new parent” spots.

  68. Zaylina says:

She just sounds like a very boring person who’s never had to do anything because she’s so privileged. She’s infantalised because she’s always been taken care of like a child.

  69. Tanya says:

Maybe it’s just me, but when I can go out to eat, I’m not picking a place that has a kid’s menu. I get enough of that food at home.

    • Ann says:

I think kids menus at the places they frequent might be different though. They’re in California and have money, so could be the kids menus at their preferred restaurants are actually kind of healthy?

  70. MarqueeMoon says:

This made me so sad, she sounds depressed ( doing laundry soothes me , the most romantic thing her husband had ever done for her was not romantic, the best “compliment “ she received sounds like an insult, she sounds like she makes herself small “over laughing at someone’s jokes” trying so hard to please but they just tell her she’s annoying, her whole world is her child and family of origin, she sounds isolated, with zero self esteem , i have no idea who she is, but the harsh comments on this very sad woman seem pretty over the top for what she’s said

    • girl_ninja says:

She’s Katherine Schwarzenegger. It tells us this in the first line of the article.

    • Shirurusu says:

Yes I totally agree, depressed and repressed, I was reading this thinking damn girl you need to go to some intense Yoga classes or take up boxing or start meditating or do something to get in touch with yourself and make time for yourself. This kind of waify non-persona isn’t real I bet, she’s playing it to keep her crappy husband because she doesn’t think she deserves better. If I was her girlfriend I would want to slap her and/ or buy her many Tequilas!

  71. Sudie says:

She is the definition of a subservient wife! That’s what attracted her to Pratt. He’s like most conservative men I know, they are always looking for a wife who has no opinion, never speaks her mind or causes trouble. She will always obey him and that’s why he & Anna Farris are no married – which makes her a very lucky woman to have gotten out of that marriage.
I can never watch another movie or spend a dime on the a**h**e that is Chris Pratt.

    • Kristin D says:

There is a thing called acts of service in a love language. Look it up. If we are going to judge sounds like you are jealous. My husband may not bring me flowers every week or plan romantic dinners in Paris, but he is the best father I have ever met, he is a full-time active duty airman, and he finds time to yes… hang Christmas lights or do a pintrest project I find and I show him under the guise I want to do it myself when he isn’t working. Damn straight that is romantic. I also work full-time and make more money than him…. am I considered subservient to you?

      • Sudie says:

I did look it up, and I quote “prepared to obey without question, less important, subordinate”. I leave it to you to decide if you are considered subservient.

      • Jaded says:

I’m sure you’d find it incredibly romantic if he compared his love for you as “My greatest treasure right next to my Ken Griffey Jr. Upper Deck Rookie card.”

      • Sandii says:

How “romantic” to bamboozle him to do stuff around the house instead of just directly ask him to…

Why is that? Do you, on some level, have the feeling if he “had” to do something he would not want to do it?

  72. Mrs.Krabapple says:

I don’t even know how this would work — don’t restaurant have age limits for the children’s menu? My nephew was tall for his age, and was denied children’s menu sometimes because he *looked* older.

    • ME says:

That reminds me of a time I was on a plane and the flight attendants were both arguing over whether or not I should get a kid’s meal or not. I was 10 but tall for my age I guess. I don’t know but I never forgot how that made me feel. They eventually gave me the kid’s meal, which was a burger, fries, and a chocolate bar (way better than the adult meal) !

  73. Margot says:

Sounds like a lot of time on the phone with family each day! I like her sun hat.

  74. ME says:

I remember once trying to order a kid’s meal at Burger King but they wouldn’t let me because I didn’t have a kid with me. I don’t understand why they care?

    • minime says:

I guess because kid’s menus are suppose to be a family friendly offer and not for adults to be cheap or get smaller portions 😉 at least in Europe burger king and macdonald’s always have the cheap, simple normal burger in the normal menu so that there’s no necessity to choose a kid’s meal.

  75. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Oh yes. When we’re able to go out or spend $$$ ordering food, I crave mac and cheese, chicken tenders, pizza, grilled cheese, mini sliders and corn dogs. 😐😐😐

I’m sorry, but everything she mentioned stung a bit. As in stirred my bile. Most romantic thing is hanging Christmas lights??? Best compliment is improved cooking??? Mother daughter matching outfits??? Omg, I need to stop, it’s too much.

    • Kristin D says:

Ever hear of a love language called acts of service? My oh my you seem to be a lucky one. I think it’s incredible that she counts a compliment from her step son as the best… her step son. Do you have any remote clue how hard a blended family is and how much is shows where she so highly regards her step son?

      • Coco says:

        At this point Hi Katherine

      • Monica says:

I noticed that, after her hubby’s mention of the “healthy daughter” blew up last week. Damage control.

I appreciate your defense of this vapid lady, but I’m sure you have way more substance than she does at this point. Hopefully she’ll do some growing up soon.

      • Deering24 says:

Her stepson ragging on her cooking was not a compliment—it was a backhanded insult. “Oh, wow, at least the little woman didn’t burn the Bagel Bites this time.” That shit is not cute and it’s not funny, especially since it’s based in shaming a woman if she isn’t a perfect-wifey-cook like a “good” woman should be.

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I don’t refer to family members as ‘step’ anything. We are mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather. Imagine that. I have many clues and they’re hardly remote lol.

  76. Eva says:

I’m European and let me tell you this: Even the kid’s menu were too big in my opinion. Your adult-sized menu is enough for my whole family. She eats like a normal person hence I think you’re fat. You should watch your weight because you’ll have many life threatening issues. Bless you all, fat people of Murica!

    • MelOn says:

I order a salad or have protein and a vegetable, I don’t eat off the kids menu. The kids menu is suited to the taste buds of small children, it’s bland. The only place you get those huge meals is at tourist trap/chain restaurants , like Olive Garden or Cheesecake Factory.

      • Kristin D says:

Why should I limit myself to a salad if I want chicken fingers? Why do I need an adult portion that I will throw away because chicken fingers don’t reheat. Why do I need to suffer a salad to prove I’m an adult? As long as I tip to make up for the difference who cares?! Stop putting restrictions on my diet to prove it? I have no idea where you dine, but I have yet to dine where the serve a typical approved portion of chicken that is the size of my palm unless I’m paying over $50. I don’t live in NYC – in Texas, we get Texas portions.

    • Jais says:

Well, bless your heart right back! Are you a European currently living in the south? Because bless in the way you used it is meant as shade and not in a true blessing way. But I’m guessing you know that.

  77. Molly says:

“Look at me, I eat like a bird, I’m so delicate.”

These two are problematic as hell, but I’m not sure that kind of vitriol bordering on body shaming is called for.

  78. Feebee says:

She doesn’t sound like she’s her own person.

  79. MelOn says:

The kids menu isn’t even particularly health, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, fries, etc. She has the palate of a toddler.

  80. Kristin D says:

I am in the minority, but honestly, nothing she said was shocking to me. She sounds like a boring older soul who isn’t hiding who she is. I wouldn’t seek her out to be my friend, but she sounds honest about herself. Why is she required to be interesting or deny what makes her happy? I order off of the kids menu sometimes because of the portions, sometimes if we are at a place that offers the type of foods offered as their main fare I don’t want to eat the whole plate of an adult portion and that type of food sucks when reheated. Do I tip appropriately to make up for the lowered bill? Absolutely. News flash – like her I have a toddler. He’s picky and in the 11th percentile growth wise. I couldn’t care less about expanding his palate. We eat where he eats. Do I have a very, very good palate that ranges all types of ethnic and domestic cuisine? You betcha. I was the first girl in my Amish country community to eat Sushi and Pho with tripe (ugh… still not a fan of tripe) back before it was cool to the masses. My Dad made sure to take me into Philly and NYC to expand my horizons. But for the most part I’m a very, very boring person with a husband who isn’t known for his outrageous romantic overtures and I appreciate his love language is acts of service. I just don’t have famous parents and husband where I’m pretty much expected to do press. This judgement of her seems uncalled for and nasty – slow news day?

    • Imara219 says:

Agreed. Like people are snipping at her for talking to her mom everyday and eating small portion sizes. I used to call my mother everyday and I love when my husband washes dishes or does small chores around the house. None of that means I’m a boring bird brain, yeesh.

      • Kristin D says:

Agreed. I have to get off this page. People need to take a step out into the real world. I have plenty of fun judging celebrities, but this is probably the last thing that should invite judgement. No wonder our country is divided with unenlighted jerks like these. Congrats on taking down a totally harmless person, perhaps you should just tune into Trump news from now on.

      • girl_ninja says:

Why wouldn’t your husband just help with chores on a regular basis since it’s his house too?

      • Imara219 says:

Girl_Ninja my husband cleans the house more than I do. I am appreciative just as he’s appreciative of the ish I do. We are a team and work that way. How and ever, if I was putting together a list about things I find cute about my husband I might mention “oh yeah” he does the dishes because it’s a small inconsequential thing to throw out. No biggie.

    • canichangemyname says:

Agreed. I’m not fond of some of the vitriol against this woman for the sin of being boring. I mean, yeah, these items listed are pretty basic and not particularly interesting. Maybe she has a more “interesting” side she doesn’t feel like sharing, maybe she just is who she is.
I mean, her husband is the problematic dink who objectified her and insulted his son. She’s just out here being basic and sometimes ordering off a kids’ menu. I mean … okay? Are we THAT desperate to take down other women that now we take them down for being … boring?

      • Monica says:

We could be wrong, but many of us suspect her boring cuteness is either bullpucky or at least pandering to the Christianist right.

    • Sandii says:

My problem with her is not the “boring” stuff. It is more the feeling I got, that CP does not respect her.

      • North of Boston says:

That’s the sense I get as well. That and that she doesn’t exhibit any outside interests, or isn’t ‘allowed to’ speak about anything other than hearth and home. It’s hard to tell if that’s who she fundamentally is or if that’s who she’s being molded into or is choosing because of who knows why (maybe if I’m not like my mother MY husband won’t cheat and leave)

  81. Lex says:

Yeah I get it, especially with portion sizes in USA.

  82. MangoAngelesque says:

Yeah, she and her bonehead husband really can’t make things read the way they want them to, can they?

Because “I order off the children’s menu” does not read as “I’m so dainty and delicate, merciful heavens,” it reads as, “I’m so uncouth as to only eat chicken nuggets, fries, and buttered noodles.”

If she wanted to aim for the former, she could have said, “I always order the lunch portion, even at dinner, or I’m stuck with a doggy bag…which I always end up forgetting!”

That, at least, would be more relatable to other adult humans, as who hasn’t accidentally left a doggy bag before? At the very least, she wouldn’t have sounded like such a friggin’ child, yet again giggling wildly at another childish thing she does.

  83. jferber says:

Her comment about children’s portions reads to me as, “I’m courting an eating disorder to please my husband because he’ll cheat on me or divorce me otherwise.” This also tells me they don’t eat at fancy restaurants where I don’t believe there ARE children’s menus. This speaks to me of diners or fast food joints.

  84. Stan says:

Has anyone else seen the “Difficult People” episode where Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner start a restaurant which only serves children’s meals to adults? Spoiler alert, it fails like most of their ventures.

  85. TEALIEF says:

I get it, she’s boring and that’s okay, however… Most of her list of favourite things read like the fevered dream of a fifteen year old, singing I am sixteen going on seventeen. She, and the list, read like someone who went directly from her father’s household to her husband’s household. Does that mean she and her husband confine themselves to only restaurants that have children’s menus? Must make for an interesting adult date night. I like doing laundry because it’s productive and process driven, with clean folded clothes as the finished product, but it wouldn’t land on my list.

  86. jferber says:

By the way, I don’t care that/if she’s bland. I think she married a jerk though. Remember, Anna Farris got really thin at one point? Maybe he fat-shames his wives or makes negative comments about what they eat, etc. You know, a real jerk. I don’t think she’s problematic, but he seems to be. Remember when he posted a failed meal she made and mocked her on the internet? It wasn’t cute or funny or self-deprecating or ironic, but just highly critical and cringey. I felt bad for her. And that was the honeymoon period! If I didn’t divorce him at that point, I would certainly have hired a live-in professional chef. Maria Shriver seems to love him (for now) and I hope she’s protecting her daughter and supporting her (instead of posting a message of support for her son-in-law). It sounds like he wants a Stepford wife and right now, she’s willing to comply.

  87. Annetommy says:

I’m old enough to remember when toddlers ate what their parents ate, not the other way round.

  88. Fabiola says:

Some of the comments here are so mean. If she is a picky eater then it makes sense to order from the kids menu. She knows what she is going to get and she doesn’t have to throw it away. I eat my son’s left overs from the kids menu for lunch. Not everyone is adventurous with their food. I doubt she is ordering the kids menu to stay thin. She would be ordering a salad without dressing if that was the case. Also, surprising someone with Xmas lights is very romantic. I wish my husband would do that. She’s close to her family and likes plain food. That makes people angry?

  89. A.Key says:

I don’t even like her but damn the comments on here, wow.

  90. Lulu says:

Honestly I liked her better before she revealed all this sad and disturbing information about herself. She was more mysterious and we could give her the benefit of the doubt thanks to her familial association with Mariah Shriver. But now? Omg. Worst interview ever. No wonder publicists in the golden age of Hollywood tightly controlled their clients’ image. The reality is often a complete turn off.

  91. Londongal says:

The ‘mental illness’ comment, even as a ‘joke’, is….. grim. And the sort of thing my abusive ex would say. I want to think she’s an evil business genius, about to start a ‘goop’ for rich white Christians. But I fear she is actually this beige, infantilised and simple. And Chris loves that. Because of course he does.

  92. Jojo says:

Years ago Anderson Cooper mentioned that he also orders off the kid’s menu.He didn’t get all these negative comments.I wonder why?

  93. florencia says:

I’m not sure how to take “I order off the children’s menus” comments. Are you trying to tell me you’re a dainty flower who lives on teeny amounts of food, or are you saying you have the tastebuds of an unadventurous American 5-year-old and only want to bland eat deep-fried foods and no veggies? Because the latter is usually how I interpret it.

  94. Bird says:

Not everyone has to live like you do, with superior husbands and real personalities. But if she seeks to be an influencer, then fair game I guess, since she’s espousing that she holds the keys to the lifestyle others could benefit to follow. Pardon my English, brain drain.
