Prince William did his first event of the year, and his first since Dec. 8th

Royal Carols - Together At Christmas

One of the funniest parts about the Duchess of Cambridge’s big birthday extravaganza was the emphasis on how she’s “coming into her own” and how she’s finally learned how to do royal work, finally, after nearly eleven years of duchessing. Side-by-side with that was the fact that William and Kate had barely worked in December, and they made zero appearances ahead of Kate’s birthday. Think of how Kate’s birthday keenery would have landed if they stepped out last week for a charity engagement? But alas, getting these two to do anything is a massive chore.

William was only seen three times in December: at a football match on December 1st, attending Kate’s Christmas carol special on the 8th, and going to church in Norfolk on Christmas Day. That’s it. Now he’s “back to work,” as of January 12th. That was a nice long Christmas holiday for him – nothing but a church appearance for nearly five weeks. How *does* he spend his time?

What was the event for William? Yesterday, he went to Windsor Castle for an investiture ceremony. The Queen barely does investitures anymore, so William and Charles do most of them nowadays. And because William is such a lightweight, he got to do all of the investitures for the new crop of honours for various athletes, sportsmen and “fitness” people. I’m including the Instagram below, highlighting the honorees. The Cambridges have gotten much better at highlighting this kind of work on their social media. They only get better after you-know-who came around, but here we are.

When did anyone last see the Queen?? The Xmas speech was pre-recorded and can’t think when she was last spotted.

I’m sure each medal Willileaks pins o recipients will be counted as an engagement. Only 200 more to go then.

      • Space Geek says:

Why not, he got to list same day phone calls to different people as seperate engagements. So sick of having to pay for these bone idle narcissists.

    • rawiya says:

We got photos of her meeting people in November. But can we be sure the photos were taken in November? No, no we cannot.

  2. Noki says:

I cant help it,but i feel so torn when i see POC accepting these honours. Sigh! I understand someone like Lewis Hamilton or Mel B turning it down may be a bigger headache than just agreeing to it.

    • lanne says:

It sucks, but it’s their good citizenship and distinctive service award. Getting that award means a lot. It’s too bad it has to come from those vile people. At least in the US, people up for awards during the trump administration could turn them down, knowing they could receive an award later. Trump only gave awards to his cronies anyway (tiger woods accepting a medal of freedom was in really bad taste in my opinion. He’s ranked with rush Limbaugh now). The Kennedy center honors were a problem—it’s an arts award bestowed by the president in a ceremony, with a concert. No one wanted to accept a lifetime achieve this award from trump, so he agreed not to attend or participate and the awards went on. Lifetime achieve the awards in the UK are given on behalf of the monarch, and will-di Amin is ffking, so everyone gets to kneel to him. I expect lots of black people will be put up for awards to “prove” how totally not racist they are. It sucks that turning the award down could be damaging. It’s a tough call. I don’t blame anyone for accepting awards they earned in the UK

    • MadamNoir24 says:

Noki, I feel the same way. It’s so cringing when I see people of color accepting any awards from them.

    • booboocita says:

Speaking as a Chicana and a WOC … I’m torn. On the one hand, I cringe a bit when I see BIPOC accepting awards from oppressive institutions like the British royal family. I can’t help but think, “Have some pride in yourself and your people’s struggle! You bow to no one, particularly a bunch of racist pricks using you to tout their non-racist credentials!” But then there’s that part of me that swells with orgullo para mi raza y mi gente: “Look! We hit the big time! Our accomplishments and successes are publicly recognized and celebrated! We are important contributors to the commonweal, and let no one forget it!” Hmmmm …

    • teecee says:

I agree with you. I lose a little bit of respect for everyone who accepts one of these “honors,” but with POC that respect is accompanied by disappointment. Do they publish who was offered the honors? Because then I guess I could see the public pressure of not turning one down. But if they don’t, I don’t know. You can’t even really say there is an American equivalent, because the Brits give several thousand of these away every year. The big official American honors organizations give far fewer awards per year, so the people who turned them down during the Trump era did so knowing that it wasn’t necessarily a certainty that they would ever get one.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

I feel the same about ANYONE accepting awards from the royal family, not just POC. I think, internally, it must hurt the POC more to have to bow to these racist pr!cks. But I judge the whites who accept even more harshly, because they are more likely to have OTHER opportunities in life to be recognized, and (again, *generally* even though I know specific cases differ) have an easier path to achieving success.

And I agree with the comment, “I expect lots of black people will be put up for awards to ‘prove’ how totally not racist they are.” Not only does it (in their minds) show the world how totally not racist they are, but it serves as built-in protection — you cannot criticize the royals’ obvious ploy without risk of diminishing the recipient at the same time. Well played, royals. Obvious, but well played.

    • Space Geek says:

Mel B got hers for the work she’s carried out bringing attention to domestic violence. I applaud people who can take their personal horrors and use them to benefit others. I don’t agree with the Honours System or Titles but quite genuinely, Mel deserves the MBE. Let’s not forget that the Cambridges declined to share how many POC they have in their household though. I honestly believe that the reason people don’t call out the Windsors for their BS is down to the hope that one day they might get an honour or title. Salt Island really sucks when it comes to this carp 😔

    • notasugarhere says:

Not a POC obviously, but T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) turned down a knighthood from George V because of the way the UK government had double crossed their Arab allies.

  3. Lorelei says:

He’ll need the rest of the month off to recuperate from this grueling workday

  4. Zut Alors says:

    “Work” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    • withtheamerican says:

William took a large breath three days ago and will thank you to respect that “work”!

  5. Scorpion says:

Hope he didn’t pull a muscle doing this BS….

  6. Rapunzel says:

Interesting how he looks somewhat happier without Keen Kate alongside him.
Like, still a pecker with teeth, only…lighter.

    • Space Geek says:

To be fair, after seeing the Tour de France video someone shared a link to recently whereby Kate freezes (for several obvious seconds) so the paps get the shot *she* wants them to get; I’m beginning to understand why he can’t bear to be seen with her! Ridiculousness, thy name is Keen 🤣

  7. blisteringsun says:

miss reanne evans looks great. love her outfit. and the last guy (i’m assuming is the rugby player) is super hot. that’s all i got.

  8. Jais says:

Ok William also has really poor posture. It pains me to see both him and Kate standing and walking. I want to straighten them, tell them go to a posture clinic, practice yoga or Pilates or something!!! I don’t know why this peeves me so much but I literally just see future back and shoulder pain. Do they not also see the profile pics of their poor posture and wince? With the very few events they do, they have the time to address this, just saying.

    • Vavavoom says:

He stands just like his father. Hunched over with his pelvic area thrust forward. It’s so strange. The only stance that is stranger is Trump’s leaning tower of Pizza

  9. What says:

Even though it’s not really been reported in the rota. It seems he’s starting a pattern of doing smaller events without copykate. This is something that she’s not needed, but isn’t she the new rugby patron so when’s she getting out for the new year to do some work

  10. Amy Bee says:

I guess this will be it for the rest of the month.

    • BothSidesNow says:

Of course it will. And who TF wrote the story line in the IG account? The verbiage is repetitive, to say the least. They need to work on that.

How demoralizing to have Bitter Brother that ran his WOC SIL out of the country and to subject yourself into his presence.

  11. Lizzie says:

And he wasn’t missed, was he? Willnot and Cannot are truly irrelevant.

  12. Fascinating Fascinator says:

The little patch of red royal carpet that he is standing on is so funny to me….those special royal feet mustn’t touch the same carpet as the commoner feet! Lollllll

    • BeanieBean says:

I had to go up & look. That is funny! How else would you know he’s royal? Do they travel with a little bit of red carpet?

  13. Becks1 says:

Yeah, he’s been doing investitures for a while now, for ones like this I wonder – is he at KP, or did he take the helicopter in for a few hours of work and then peace out again?

I also notice that they seem to give him the “cool” investitures – usually athletes etc. I wonder if he refuses to do them unless he gets to meet someone he wants to meet anyway.

Wonder when we will see them again, I kind of expect the royals to all make some sort of announcement or appearance on February 6, which is the actual jubilee date. (not the Queen though.)

  14. RoyalBlue says:

The great Clive Lloyd! I followed West Indian cricket back in the day when the Windies ruled and he is well respected in the region. Can say much for the degenerate in front of him.

  15. Lady Digby says:

Isn’t it ironic that the part time option was nixed for the Sussex duo but not Will and Kate? Instead they get maximum pay and perks for minimal works, regular promotion, frequent holidays, portraits and fawning press with no annual appraisal !

    • Becks1 says:

And people act like its a good thing! they are still part-time now lol, but their stans talk about their years in Wales as their “malta years” and there was a big deal made in 2017 when it was said that they would finally be full time royals (6 years after their marriage) and moving into KP full time etc. then like a week later Kate announced she was pregnant again. It was seen as GOOD that they were “easing into royal duties” and everything else.

      • Nic919 says:

It’s North Korean level propaganda with them. Kate has gotten close to 150 once in a decade. She’s never boosted her numbers in any real way from day one and especially not when they were supposedly now full time. William has at least started to exceed 200 but still no large increase.

There remains no reason why they can’t double their current numbers.

But yes so many tried to pretend they were part time and defending the low numbers even on this site. Of course kate still spent hundreds of thousands each year on new clothes despite barely leaving the house 100 times in a year. And of course when Harry and Meghan wanted part time suddenly it was unacceptable.

  16. SourcesclosetoKate says:

Get a job and stop living off the public. He’s got the easiest job but still refuses to do it. Spoiled petulant narcisstic prince.

    • BothSidesNow says:

Yes!!! They both should get jobs, though neither one of them are qualified for anything. Maybe clean the royal stables? Keen loves to garden so much, she can maintain the gardens then!

  17. CrystalBall says:

I am shocked by William’s poor posture – has he spent the last five weeks slumped on the royal couch?

  18. swirlmamad says:

His hair is so so bad. Just shave the damn thing off and stop holding on for dear life and own the baldness.
