Channing Tatum gets ‘very specific style tips’ from Zoe Kravitz & Jonah Hill

Channing Tatum covers VMAN to promote Dog (which he co-directed and stars in) and The Lost City. His photoshoot was by Inez & Vinoodh and it’s very sexy. Like, Channing truly got his ass out for his fans, and he looked very bronzed and smooth. It’s a reminder that we will definitely get a third Magic Mike movie and his body will look this perfect. As for the interview, it was conducted by Jonah Hill, and he and Chan are BFFs. The interview starts out professional and they’re talking about work, and then they just start talking about fashion and what they can individually pull off or not pull off. It’s really great! I love hearing straight men talk about fashion, and both of these men care deeply about it. Some highlights:

Whether he would direct again: “I don’t know if I’ll direct another movie, and I definitely won’t direct another movie with me in it, man, that’s for sure. If I’m being really honest, I don’t feel like I directed the movie the way I wanted. It was tough and felt very rushed. I feel like I need a second chance to direct my first film.

On The Lost City: “It’s such a feel-good movie. I don’t care if it was the phone book with Sandra Bullock, I’m doing it just because she’s the G of Gs. There’s nothing shocking to me, at all, when you meet Sandra. She’s just exactly who you want her to be–the most wonderful, brilliant sweetheart. She produced the film and knows every single thing on the set and how much it cost, kind of person. Brad [Pitt] in this movie is hilarious. If we ever do Jump Street 3, we have to—I’m telling you, he’s comic gold if you put him with the right character. I’ll tell you who’s probably my favorite actor now…Daniel Radcliffe…. God, I think I always get put under the spell of a British person talking. He is so much fun as this crazy, odd villain, and you kind of fall in love with him a little bit.

His fashion journey: “It has been a journey, Jonah. I grew up in the South, and you don’t wear anything but like, white t-shirts and chains everywhere. I had a year I called, “the year of the fresh white tee.” [Then] I started getting seen as a model, and I went so deep into the highest fashion world that you possibly can. I was living in New York and [there], you find your own style. When I moved to L.A., dressing became a bit of a chore, it was just another suit for another talk show. I just got over it.

Learning how to love fashion: “I stopped acting for a while, life changed, and I really wanted to pay attention and figure out who I was—that was like four years ago. Look, I went on a little bit of a journey trying to do Balenciaga and all this sh-t. And I was just like, ‘This ain’t me either. I don’t know what the kids are doing these days.’ And then some friends of mine, like you and Zo [Zoë Kravitz], were like, “Why don’t you just wear what you wear? Why don’t you just be you?” You gave me some very specific style tips. I’m really enjoying finding my own voice and my own way with some very beautiful guardrails.

Hanging out with Jason Momoa: “I was hanging out with Jason Momoa the other day, and he’s wearing this beautiful pink and white cardigan. And I was like, “How do you pull that off, bro?” Like, I don’t look well in a pink cardigan. I look like an actual school teacher. I put it on and, literally, everyone said, “No, doesn’t work. Take it off.”

He loves vintage t-shirts now: “…The only problem is now I’m completely addicted to these vintage apps. Now I don’t even go on Instagram anymore.”

I would love to see Channing experiment more with his style, but I also get why Jonah Hill has apparently been telling him to reel it in? Like, Channing should wear what he likes and if wants to rock out to Balenciaga and pink cardis, he should. But I also get how he wouldn’t really look great in that stuff? It just wouldn’t suit him. Maybe a happy medium of well-cut trousers (Armani, Ralph Lauren), good soft sweaters and vintage t-shirts? Maybe edge more towards hippie/boho rather than haute couture?

I also love that Channing is now a Daniel Radcliffe stan? I’m less pleased about his love for Brad Pitt. But of course, Channing got along great with Sandra Bullock. That makes perfect sense.

He’s hot and seems like a decent person. I would take him over brad Pitt in a second.

  2. sK says:

I find him completely charming, he seems like a really nice guy

I just love him, always have. And I think he’s so handsome and charming. He seems to have a good reputation as being a hard worker and easy to get along with on work projects too.

Whenever I think about a dinner party and what celebrities I would like to be there, I always pick Channing. And Josh Groban, Adele and Mindy Kaling. They all make me laugh and seem like nice people.

My friend Travis produced a movie he did with Shia LeBouf and said he was arrogant, mean spirited and made his life hell but Travis doesn’t work much so he tends to project his problems on others.

    • Abby says:

Really? Was he talking about Shia?

I just went and looked to see what movie that could be—they were in A Guide to Recognizing your Saints together. I haven’t seen it. Because it came out in 2006, before she’s the man and Step Up; so he was basically an unknown model at that time. Weird that he would be so awful as a nobody and then continue on to be so successful! I hope that isn’t true. 🙁

  5. LOL says:

Channing gushing over Brad Pitt who hit his son made a deal get his charges dropped ends up being more of a Hollywood darling how disappointing

I know this is old but I just want to point out, Channing isn’t a straight man, he’s bisexual. A lovely dude, and I’m happy to have him repping us.
