Prince Andrew visits his mother every day ‘to make it up to the Queen’

Over the weekend, the Telegraph reported that Prince Andrew would be making an appearance on Garter Day in June. Garter Day is the big fancy ceremony for the knights and ladies in the Order of the Garter. While Andrew has been a knight of the Garter for decades, many people believed that he would simply give up the honor along with all of his royal patronages, military appointments and his HRH style. That didn’t happen, and Andrew plans to wear the feathers and velvet of the Order of the Garter this year. This is fine with Queen Elizabeth. It might have been her idea. At the very least, she’s cosigning it. Which led to some questions about just how much time Andrew spends with his mother. The Daily Mirror says they see each other every day.

Prince Andrew is visiting the Queen every day in a bid to make amends for his sex abuse scandal disgrace. The Duke of York is making daily visits to his mother at her Windsor Castle home after being dramatically snubbed from the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

A royal source said: “Andrew is doing all he can to make amends for the shame he brought on his family for being involved in such a scandal. He wants to make it up to the Queen which is why he is doing all he can to see her as much as possible. The rest of the family, apart from Her Majesty, are united in feeling that he should stay out of the limelight and keep quiet having left such a stain on the family.”

Insiders say he has been driving the five miles from his Royal Lodge home to “make sure she is comfortable and looked after”. Royal staff say “you can set your watch” by Andrew’s pre-lunch visits.

One royal insider said: “Although he has clearly been hurt by being cast aside for the Jubilee celebrations, he has been exceedingly chipper of late and appears completely intent on being on hand for his mum while showing the family he is still of some use. He has been a regular daily visitor to the Castle and often pops in to see the Queen before he goes out riding for the day, taking full advantage of the incredible facilities. The Duke sometimes stays after his ride and dines with the Queen.”

Sources say he appeared to make more visits after Prince Harry, 37, revealed he visited the Queen last month, telling a US TV interview that he wanted to make sure she had “the right people around her”. A friend of the Duke said he was “deeply offended” by the comments, adding: “He (Andrew) has been making regular visits to see the Queen, but she is his mother after all.”

[From The Daily Mirror]

First of all, I believe when Harry spoke about the Queen having the “right people around her,” he was referencing Andrew, Charles AND the men in grey, the courtiers and ableist aides. So it’s funny that Andrew is like “she’s my mummy and I’ll visit her every day and persuade her to do all of these things for me, take that, Harry!!” As for those visits and Andrew’s efforts to “do all he can to make amends”… no, he’s not. These visits are not about Andrew checking in on his elderly mother and being there for her with no personal agenda. This is Andrew mooching and manipulating his elderly mother to give him more big-boy presents. He managed to walk her down Westminister Abbey at the service of thanksgiving. He’s clearly persuaded her to allow him to come to Garter Day. He’s likely persuaded her to let him make some Jubbly appearances. This is all about Andrew being a manipulative POS. And Harry had every reason to be concerned.

How kind of him to make amends to the queen for literally raping a child by dropping by for tea and crumpets.

    Unbelievable.

    • ThatsNotOkay says:

The Queen is so saddened that rape has blemished her brilliant legacy. He should be sorry for embarrassing her. Not for raping people, but for embarrassing the Firm.

      • Anance says:

He should be sorry for embarrassing her. Not for raping people, but for embarrassing the Firm. getting caught.

        FTFY

      • Debbie says:

After all, that is where the real injury lies.

  2. MaryContrary says:

I think Harry meant Angela Kelly and other staff-not Andrew. I don’t think he wants to get in the middle of that-especially as he’s close to Eugenie.

    • Dee says:

I don’t think Eugenie is as “love my daddy” as people here may think. She can’t get him out of her life realistically, but I’m pretty sure she’s aware he isn’t a good person or a good influence on her grandma.

    • Amy Bee says:

@Marycontrary: Nah, he meant both family and staff

    • Jan90067 says:

Oh, I DO think Pedo was included in the AK/Courtiers bunch. Harry KNOWS what a snake in the grass Pedo is, how disgusting depraved his actions have been throughout his life (you know that POS would be bragging about just what/how much he siphoned off for himself as Trade Ambassador/Pitch at the Palace, just as a way to brag about how clever Mummy’s favorite little Pedo is!

Of COURSE Pedo is slithering around Mummy constantly again, hissing in her ear about how Mean old Charles is going to take EVERYTHING away from him once she’s gone, and how her favorite widdle Paedrew won’t have a place for allllllllllll his teddies to sit! Mummy MUST help NOW, whilst she can,,,.”You MUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSt!!!!” is his war-hiss.

He should’ve been banished to an uninhabited island with Freeloader. They deserve each other. Take Bea, she is just like her parents in terms of grifting.

    • teecee says:

I agree with you. For better or worse, Liz has been coddling and protecting Andrew for decades. Seems like Harry was referring to people who had more power now that Phil was gone and she’s become more feeble. That points to courtiers.

  3. MollyB says:

Well… really what else does he have to do?

  4. Digital Unicorn says:

More like buttering the old dear up so he and his family get a nice gift in the will PLUS getting face time at the Jubbly.

    • Anance says:

The Queen already set up Andrew and Yorkies with that 99-yr lease at Royal Lodge. I’m sure the visits are essentially discussions of her personal will. From the Queen’s POV, she needs to secure Andrew and his children’s lives with large trusts (given how spendthrift Andrew and his ex-wife are); IMO that’s already set up.

Next are the chattels – gifts of personal items, including her jewelry. IMO, that at least means tiaras for the Yorkies, plus random spectacular personal jewels. Probably some brooches identified with her, large statement earrings, and other recognizable jewels. In her collection exists jewelry that she doesn’t wear anymore, which has dated settings that can be reset.

Of course, there is also art, furniture, and decor to give away. IMO, Andrew and Edward are speaking to the Queen about the chattels. She has already set up the trusts.

  5. C-Shell says:

Harry really shook them with his Kotb interview, didn’t he? The only people left in Andrew’s corner are the Queen, Fergie and his daughters (mainly Bea). Of those, the only one who can do anything for Andrew is the Queen. Her days are numbered so he’s doing the most to get as much as he can before she’s gone. Charles is probably letting him because, other than the £££ the Queen will leave Andrew, Charles can reverse any other gains Andrew can score now.

  6. pocket litter says:

Hope someone brings along some tar to Garter Day for all his preening feathers.

    • BothSidesNow says:

Pedrew needs to face his consequences. Pedrew is in her ear every time he visits to increase his share of her millions. Plus, I find it hard to believe that he is visiting her out of his own goodwill.

Her favoritism is revolting but once she is gone, that’s it.

  7. Cessily says:

He had to have Mommy pay untold millions of pounds to never be able to deny that he raped a trafficked minor on more than one occasion. That to me says unforgivable and unfit to be a public face, but after seeing how BJ gets a free pass I don’t have much faith that the public will be able to stop it if the Q invokes the invisible contract.

  8. Snuffles says:

Mummy! My inheritance needs to be BIGGER! Charles is going to cast me out and cut me off! How will I be able to live then! And I would like my own castle too!

  9. Mina_Esq says:

He is in for a rude awakening once the Queen passes. Like his younger brother was when the Duke passed.

    • Lucky Charm says:

It’s my understanding the DOE title is automatically passed to Charles as the eldest son; and when he becomes King it reverts to the crown and then he’ll be able to give it to Edward. But yeah, with Charles’ plans for a slimmed down monarchy, he’s petty enough to bypass Edward altogether.

  10. Smices says:

I wonder if Andrew will be sat next to Harry and Meghan at this service of thanksgiving? Hopefully they negotiated to have him in another pew. Or hopefully he doesn’t come at all.

    • Beverley says:

I’m quite sure the courtiers would salivate to ensure the Sussexes are seated near Andrew. If the seating is up to them, it’s a done deal. The Rota rats would celebrate! They would use those photos for YEARS to vilify and taunt Harry & Meghan.

My impression is that many Brits are far saltier about the mixed race American Duchess who “put a sex spell” on their Ginger Prince than they are about that lying pedophile grifter Andrew. I would think that raping an underaged girl would be a far worse offense. Oh right! He’s white AND royal.🤴🏻

      My bad 🙄

      • SuzieQ says:

I am disgusted anew every time the BM put H&M in the same sentence as Andrew. It would be unconscionable for them to be seated in the same pew — so it probably will happen.

  11. Amy Bee says:

What gets me is this piece is written as if the Queen believes that Andrew did wrong. I don’t think she does, she believes he’s innocent and that’s why she keeps him around.

    • Jay says:

It’s written as though Andrew made a gaffe or a bad joke that embarrassed the queen, as opposed to rape and human trafficking.

I’m curious how he’s supposed to “make up” for his crimes to the queen? He certainly hasn’t sought to atone for his behaviour to anybody else, including Virginia Guiffre.

    • Relly says:

@Amy Bee you say the queen believes he’s innocent — if you mean “thinks he didn’t do anything morally, ethically or legally wrong” I agree with you.

I don’t think she thinks he didn’t have sex with underage girls, though. I think she assumes the girls were all floozies who clearly threw themselves at her boy and, well. Boys will be boys. *vomits in mouth*

      • Anance says:

Exactly this. The Queen believes Andrew attended an event where party girls were present and played around. That’s what those girls are for. They are not people, they are toys for the aristocracy.

  12. equality says:

I hope he does talk her into letting him appear at the jubbly. The UK citizens need to see what they are getting for their money. He represents the monarchy perfectly.

  13. Carrotface says:

I hope they’re counting the silver and checking the jewelry boxes after he leaves, at this point I wouldn’t put it past him to outright swipe valuables in case he needs to sell them for cash later.

  14. Jay says:

I love how this article mentions Andrew has been “exceedingly chipper of late” as if any of us were losing sleep worrying that this man might be suffering through
having to live with the consequences of his actions.

You might be In a great mood, too, if someone else just bailed you out of your legal and financial hole and you still get to pop by on the regular for favours and to ride Mommy’s horses.

I find it hilarious that Andrew obviously feels the need to respond to Harry’s concern, it’s such a tell.

Harry: I’m worried about Gran, she is surrounded by some people ( won’t name names) who may not have her best interests at heart.p

Andrew: WHAT did you say about me?

    • Cha-Cha-Slide says:

@JAY Exactly. Only a hit dog yells.

    • Anance says:

It does mention Andrew has full access to all of Windsor Castle.

“before he goes out riding for the day, taking full advantage of the incredible facilities.”

  15. susan says:

    christ what a moocher.

  16. NotSoSocialB says:

If by “making it up to the queen” he means being an unctuous ingratiator, well sure.

  17. Relly says:

“Sorry about all that rape, Mummy. I brought biscuits.”

  18. Brassy Rebel says:

“Making it up to the Queen” should read,”sucking up to the Queen”. Fixed it for them.

It’s not the Queen he should be making it up to. No one sex trafficked her.

  19. Lauren Watson says:

The Queen is not the woman that Andrew needs to be making anything up to; he has learnt completely the wrong lesson from this whole disaster. And it’s not like popping in for tea and biscuits on your way to a day of riding using her ‘nicer facilities’ is any hardship at all! What a nonce

  20. J. Ferber says:

He’s going to the queen daily to keep himself in her good graces and to plan/campaign for all the goodies he’ll get when she dies.
