Avril Lavigne wants a cooking show: ‘I’m good at everything & I can make anything’

Avril Lavigne just received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of Let Go, her debut and best album. So Avril’s been around for a long time. She’s still churning out new music and touring, most recently with Machine Gun Kelly. They have a song together and he turned up for the ceremony, as did Joel Madden and her fiancé, Mod Sun. Avril is working on a new album, a movie based on “Sk8er Boi,” her clothing line, and wants to start a cooking show. That last one is a little surprising.

At only 37, Lavigne still has a lot she wants to accomplish – within music and outside of it. Beyond putting out another album, which she says is coming soon, Lavigne is working on a movie based on her iconic hit “Sk8er Boi.” While she’s tightlipped on the details, she says there is a writer-director attached to the project and many of her musically-inclined friends will be making cameos.

Lavigne also wants to revamp her clothing line, Abbey Dawn, which she founded in 2008 and rocked in many of her music videos, and maybe start a makeup line so fans can perfect her black liner look. But what makes her light up most is the possibility of starting her own cooking show.

The kitchen, like the stage, is where she feels most at home. As for what’s on the menu, “Basically, I’m good at everything and I can make anything,” Lavigne says with a laugh. “I’m really good at Italian and just on-the-spot making homemade pasta sauces.”

But until the world gets a taste of “Sk8er Boi-lognese,” Lavigne is perfectly content with life on the road as she wraps touring with Kelly and heads to play the festival circuit in September.

“It’s still so much fun,” she says of performing. “I’m having a blast – and I think I always will.”

I’m actually a little surprised the “Sk8er Boi” movie hasn’t been made already. The whole storyline is very clearly laid out and would be so easy to adapt. It’s also amazing to me that Avril looks exactly the same as she did when she hit the scene. This is both good and bad — good because no one wants to age in Hollywood and bad because her style hasn’t evolved at all and is basically a costume at this point.

Maybe cooking shows are the new celeb makeup line. Selena Gomez’s with HBO is already on its fourth season. Can Avril actually cook? Sure, I’ll buy that she can make pasta sauces. Even I can make pasta sauce on the spot and I am certainly no chef and actually hate cooking. The part I doubt is the “I’m good at everything and I can make anything.” It obviously meant in a joking way, but the lack of specificity makes me think if she does have a cooking show she’d just be slapping her name on something a la Brooklyn Beckham. But “Sk8er Boi-lognese” does have a nice ring to it. I’d order that off a menu.

She really has barely aged, she’s always been pretty but she’s gotten even prettier. As for the cooking show, I blame (totally kidding) Selena Gomez. She has her cooking show on HBO and she is so charming and fun that everyone wants in on that action. But maybe Avril is a great cook, she may want to be enterprising and start on a YouTube channel.

    Two words: Brooklyn Beckham

I say go for it Avril, the bar is on the floor so may as well get the bag while you clear it 😂

  3. Jaded says:

Just don’t spit at the prep people when you get that *cooking* show.

  4. Barbiem says:

When I see her I keep remembering the rumor she was replaced by a… I dont know, robot, doppelganger, duplicate. That rumor went hard for years. Anyways she looks good

I love cooking shows and I’m actually curious now to see how she makes her pasta dishes. I’d totally watch if this happens.

I dunno, that last pic shows her age but she’s, of course, beautiful. And I think she should’ve matured her, “look,” but whatever.

When I was a kid in the 80s I thought Stevie Nicks was beautiful but I didn’t think she looked “young”. I feel like Avril is a timeless rocker but you have to be of a certain age to think she isn’t showing up as middle aged to the kids.

    Mmm, no.

  8. Christine says:

I don’t know, I think it’s kind of refreshing she hasn’t felt the need to evolve her style. More people should do what makes them happy vs what the world thinks they should look like.

  9. Kyle says:

She is that celebrity I. CANNOT. Stand.

I never really liked her when I was a teen due to all her bashing of Britney and the other pop stars of the time. Now that she dresses almost the exact same way, just in a darker palette, I think she’s a hypocrite.

If she’s ever come out and acknowledged that then I’m willing to admit I’m wrong, but she released that girlfriend song not that long after “Sk8r Boi” and I don’t know man, just can’t get feel good about her.

A 37 year old with a skateboard always looks dumb to me.

Carrot – I agree with you. Lol
