Prince Harry was ‘so furious,’ he refused to dine with King Charles in Scotland?

In the 48 hours following Queen Elizabeth II’s death, King Charles III’s first acts were to brief against Prince Harry and Meghan. All of the British papers led with coverage on that Friday and Saturday about how Charles banned Harry from bringing Meghan to Balmoral. Charles instructed his aides to spread the news far and wide that he had personally called Harry on Thursday and told Harry “that it wasn’t right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a deeply sad time. It was pointed out to him that Kate was not going and that the numbers really should be limited to the very closest family. Charles made it very, very clear Meghan would not be welcome.” Charles also wanted it to be known that Harry was denied a seat on the RAF plane going to Balmoral, and that “many behind royal walls, frankly, were incredulous” that Harry would want his wife’s support as QEII passed away. King Charles emphasized that “this was a private, family moment,” meaning Harry’s wife of four years and mother of Charles’s two grandchildren is NOT “family.”

I bring this up because the cruelty of the Windsors and the new king was on full display. They were proud of their actions and they continue to be proud of the way they snubbed Harry and Meghan throughout the mourning and funeral week. But they’re also aware that they look like extremely sh-tty people, especially since there’s so much international attention on just how cruel and asinine their actions have been. So they’re trying a new tack – it’s all Harry’s fault!

Furious Prince Harry snubbed dinner with Charles and William at Balmoral after Meghan was banned from joining the family on the day the Queen died. Harry, 38, had insisted his wife be there on September 8, but Charles phoned to say it was “not appropriate”.

It saw Harry miss an RAF flight to Scotland with brother William and uncles Andrew and Edward. He was told to make his own travel arrangements and eventually landed at Aberdeen without Meghan at 6.35pm — minutes after the Queen’s death was announced to the world.

When he was driven into Balmoral 90 minutes later he declined dinner at Birkhall, Charles’s home on the estate, with the new king, Queen Consort Camilla and William. Insiders say the sulking prince instead mourned with Edward and Sophie Wessex and Andrew, seven miles away at Balmoral Castle.

A source said: “Harry was so busy trying to get Meghan to Balmoral and rowing with his family that he missed the flight. Charles has an open invitation for Harry to dine with him whenever he is in the country. But Harry was so furious that he refused to eat with his father and brother. It was a massive snub. And he got out of Balmoral at the earliest opportunity to catch the first commercial flight back to London.”

[From The Sun]

Note the subtle rewriting of the narrative. Two weeks ago, King Charles wanted everyone to know that he was treating Harry like sh-t and that he was going out of his way to punish Harry. Now it’s all on Harry – Harry “snubbed” Charles by not having dinner with him after Charles was a massive douche to him, I guess. Anyway, even Page Six had a denial for this story. Their sources say that Charles and William had already left for Birkhall before Harry arrived at Balmoral. Which was the original story anyway.

Aaaand this is how we know that most of these royal stories are nothing but fanfics. They just can’t stick to one story, they always have a 1000 versions of the same thing.

    • Polo says:

To be honest that’s the point isn’t it! Creating news that keeps the reader engaged/enraged because no one is gonna check them.
So they’ll have another version of this soon with a few sentences changed but it doesn’t matter as long as they get clicks from fans/haters of Harry and Meghan.

      • Memmes says:

Truly. It’s the same rhetoric over and over that keeps happening because these tabloids know there are people who will fall for the bs in one way or another, helping them fuel this narrative. Meanwhile I’m baffled at how people let themselves get so wound up over stories they don’t know are true, no matter who in the royal family they are rooting for. I don’t care how many “sources” they have, since when are The Sun, Daily Mail, etc reputable news outlets?

      • Tara says:

„Note the subtle rewriting of the narrative.“

That is something I just came to realize – after loosely engaging in royal gossip for almost 20 years and following the Harry & Meghan story. That this is what they are actually trying to do consistently – rewriting history in their favor. I think during the last years they have overdone it so much that people are now finally aware of it.

    • Amy Too says:

I also noticed that Harry has a “standing invitation” to dine with Charles at Birkhall, meaning Charles didn’t even specifically invite him that night. Apparently Harry should’ve just intuited that the man—who called him up to yell at him about how his wife isn’t family and isn’t welcome among the family, causing him to miss his flight and have to make his own arrangements, causing him to be in the air when the Queens death was announced, causing him to be hours late to see her and say goodbye—wanted him to show up for dinner that night.

Also why is it inappropriate to be “sulky” after your beloved grandmother just died and you were too late to see her!? Oh how dare Harry have some kind of negative emotion and need a tiny bit of time to process and be depressed and sad? He shouldn’t have even gone to Balmoral castle to see his dead Grandma and grieve over her body, he should’ve gone straight to Birkhall because he has a “standing invitation” there, something that I’m sure was top of mind seconds after landing and finding out that the world was just told your grandma had died before you.

      • Chloe says:

@Amy Bee: just one little comment— nobody except for charles and anne got to see her so to say. Everyone except those 2 arrived after she was already dead.

And i am convinced they made harry arrange his own transportation there specifically so that they could push this narrative of “everyone got to see her but harry was too late”. It’s not true.

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ Amy Too, you have spelled it out beautifully. Their version of events are deeply ingrained in creating this scenario from supportive to snubbing. But when the people cry foul, they spin faster than a skater. KCIII will be a poor, inadequate and spiteful king. Not only will he be making up for the perceived spites in his life he will make certain that he rules carelessly as well.

KCIII might actually destroy a greater deal of CW countries than I thought but now he has instigated the expedition of many more due to his own actions.

    • BeanieBean says:

They write this crap so often you’d think they be better at lying, but they can’t keep their stories straight. And as Amy Too noted above, ‘open invitation’ means what, exactly? Does that mean let’s have dinner, tonight, when you get up to Balmoral or is it more of the passive, hey, if ever you’re in town, come for dinner? My guess is it’s the latter, if it’s anything.

    • Kim says:

Yes, and…here’s what I think: It is curious that Sophie went along for the ride when the other wives did not. That said, I can understand why she was there: she and EIIR were close. What I really think happened was that either Kate did not want to go to Balmoral (too much work on such short notice) OR William did not want her there. Either way, the optics of Kate not being there, but Meghan making the effort to join her husband would have caused heads to role. I also agree with the comment below about Harry having to scramble his security detail as well.

  2. CheChe says:

So your mother, the queen, is dead and you have time to score petty points. Chuck is really showing the world what he’s made of and why his own father disparaged him.

    • PrincessK says:

Yes, and I thought that the RF were supposed to be Christians leading the Church of England Where is the evidence of Christian love such as forbearance, compassion and grace, especially during a time when the family has lost a loved one?

  3. Maxine Branch says:

I hope Charles reign is a painful one and he is instrumental in bringing this whole monarchy down. Such a spiteful vindictive man is going to destroy what he so desperately craved because of his pettiness. Harry and Meghan were composed and dignified while moaning the last tie they had to this institution. The women of this institution were very unkind to Meghan based upon the photos shared and the body language they displayed The court of public opinion will not be kind to this man his family or this institution. What these folks are showing is everything the Sussexes shared on Oprah was true.

    • Lauren says:

I feel like KC3 reign will be a short one. I don’t think he is as healthy as his parents were when they were 73. Time will tell.

    • North of Boston says:

The clown show of the first days of KCIii’s reign drove me back to The Crown. The first episode that popped up was Charles and Diana’s tour of Australia. In it, one character says he expects that Charles will be the one to cause the monarchy/ realm/ commonwealth to fall apart. (Due to his attitude, uselessness, etc)

It may have taken a few decades, but I suspect that character spoke the truth. And that fall cannot come fast enough for me.

      • Becks1 says:

The two parts of the Crown that have been coming back to me are the conversation between Wallis and Charles, where she says something like “be careful of your family” and he says “they mean well” and she responds “no they don’t.”

And then convo between the Queen, QM and Margaret – about how Diana will eventually bend as they all do – and QE asks, “and if she doesn’t bend?” And Margaret responds “then she’ll break.”

Meghan didn’t bend, she almost broke, and that’s why Harry got her the eff out of there, as he realized his family does not mean well.

      • Bettyrose says:

@Becks1 – Isn’t it amazing how lines from what was then meant as an historical drama keep becoming relevant again? This whole family is trapped in some bizarre time loop.

      • Prairiegirl says:

@Becks1 @Bettyrose – The line from the show that keeps coming back to me is Queen Mary’s from the second episode: “The Crown must always win.” The Firm is marginalizing Harry because he chose a woman over his family, just like it marginalized Edward VIII. And The Firm always prioritizes the Heir over the Spare. It’s baked into the system.

      • C says:

The issue with Meghan is she tried to bend and not even that was enough for them because they are so racist and horrible. She really did everything they told her to do!

  4. Belli says:

If I had the time and energy I would love to track all these articles to watch how the palace narrative changes. Same with the crying story.

  5. Amy Bee says:

Whatever. The Royal Family still looks bad in all this and it’s clear that Harry was treated differently.

  6. DaniLou says:

“Their sources say that Charles and William had already left for Birkhall before Harry arrived at Balmoral”

This family, I swear to god. You would think they would have waited around to see Harry after the death of a beloved family member only a few hours before. That Charles would want both his sons to be there after losing his mother and becoming King. They are a cold, unfeeling family and it came from the Queen herself. They’re all empty vessels and that’s why they can’t stand Harry’s compassion and feelings, just like his mother.

    • Becks1 says:

Yeah, that version doesn’t make the royals sound any better. It makes it sound like Charles and William couldn’t wait to scamper off to a private dinner to crow about their promotions, rather than dining with Charles’ siblings, who had also lost a parent.

    • Amy Too says:

Not allowed to have his wife there for comfort because it’s a “family only” time, and then the family leaves before Harry even gets there so he’s not even able to get minimal pretend comfort from his own nuclear family of origin, he’s left with Icy Anne, Edward, and a Rapist Trafficker. But this is family time so he’s not allowed to bring the one person who would be a comfort to him. Then they b**** about how he left quickly the next morning?

      • SURE says:

What I’m getting from this latest version of the Balmoral saga is that C was too much of a coward to face H after chewing him out over the phone.

      • Harper says:

And Burger King ran to Birkhall too because he didn’t have Peter Phillips there as a buffer when Harry arrived.

  7. Elizabeth says:

The Royal Family tell the truth when they want the world to know that they are punishing Harry (Meghan is told not to come, not allowed to take the flight with everyone, having to scramble to find his own transportation). When that doesn’t play well, they come up with some bullshit story making it all his fault.

  8. Ginger says:

Considering Charles and fam didn’t waste a second briefing the press on how horrible they treated Harry during this, I hope and pray Harry’s memoir isn’t delayed. I want this ridiculous and awful family to suffer. The Queen wasn’t even cold yet and they went to the press to ‘other’ Harry.

  9. Feebee says:

I had half a book written but scrapped it as the tl:dr is that Charles is a petty, horrid little man. Diana was right he should never have been King. He going to be a disaster and we should all pre-order our popcorn.

Thankfully H&M are back in CA? They shouldn’t go back for any coronation. Let him sit and spin.

    • Bettyrose says:

I suspect Meghan and children won’t be invited for the coronation, so Harry won’t go.

    • Lady D says:

“I had half a book written but scrapped it” LOL I have done the same thing a few times.

      • Becks1 says:

I do that SO many times LOL. Even my longer posts usually have been edited down a great deal. I just have too much to say and my husband will listen to it, but then I have to listen to him talk about his favorite podcast (Dan Lebatard) and the tradeoff is not worth it to me.

      • BeanieBean says:

I frequently do this with work emails. It’s got a weird funny keyboard that somehow ends up highlighting all I’ve written then deleting it when I make a keystroke of any kind. It’s totally the computer’s fault! 😉

      • SomeChick says:

my sympathy, Becks1. Dan Labatard is awful!!!

  10. Lola says:

Considering Harry had to travel commercial to and from balmoral the first version of the story seems more believable.

  11. Angelica+Schuyler says:

What is wrong with these people? they continually show the world what complete a–holes they are time and time again. They keep proving that everything Harry and Meghan said in the Oprah interview was true. They are so used to marrying only for money and position, that they can’t process a normal marriage where spouses love each other and support one another. They don’t get that Meghan IS Harry’s family now. And they have their own family unit with their kids that means much more to him than any of the royal perks they could ever offer him.

The BRF and the BM are so locked into the British class system that they truly don’t want to understand that it is meaningless to so many people in so many places. They really believe Harry would give up his own happiness to use an HRH title and have front row seats at a funeral…..so clueless they are…

  12. Sophie says:

Well, after everything that Harry went through, is it THAT unbelievable that he refused to dine with Chuck? If Chuck wants to embrace his white side of the family, without any consideration to his second son, his wife and their children, then what can Harry do? They threw him (and Meghan) to the wolves time and time again and Harry should turn the other cheek? At every opportunity they show to the world how petty, small-minded, jealous and plain bad are! Harry and Meghan, live your best life with your babies and don’t mind his pettiness King Chuck III!

  13. Southern Fried says:

They just keep showing their asses. Chuck and crew believe they are above reproach. It’s a mistake. He will not get the same pass that Elizabeth got simply due to her age. I believe this funeral is the end of any relationships between Harry and Chuck, William and their wives. I’m okay with that.

  14. Over it says:

Maybe some of Chucky spitefulness is because he suffers with short man syndrome. I can completely see why Betty won’t retire and let him rule, she always knew that he was unfit and if she had step back for him to take over he would have destroyed all she stood for and being alive while he did that, would have been unbearable for her. Despite all Andy fault and good he has a lot. The one thing we can’t accuse him of is every being cruel and spiteful and hateful towards either one of his daughters. Chucky is by far the world worst dad . Archie and lili don’t need this toxic asshole in their lives.

    • SnoodleDumpling says:

Andrew is a credibly accused rapist and MAY have fondled his own daughters’ backside on international television but somehow Charles manages to be the worse father of the two. That is true dedication to scumbaggery, right there.

    • lanne says:

It’s wildly ironic to me that Harry and Meghan can bond over the fact that they both have horrible fathers who have disappointed them in their times of greatest need. Who would have thought that Charles is just Thomas Markle, only covered in royal spangles and ribbons. Both fathers are petty, narcissistic, selfish. They both view their love for their children as strictly transactional and conditional. Both of them live by the mantra: “Everything’s okay because I feel just fine,” or “the world has gone to hell because I feel bad.” Both of them believe that they “made” their kids, and “without me, he/she’s nothing!” Both of them think their children “owe” them for being born and taking care of them. Both will act in their own interest before they act in the interest of their children. Both of them see themselves as the main character in their own lives, and their kids are just the supporting act. Charles was literally raised to believe this. But if it’s absurd for Thomas Markle to believe this, it’s equally absurd for Charles, and for the same reasons.

I think it’s impossible to understand this type of betryal until you have experienced it yourself. I have an amazing father. As much as I would try to understand what Harry and Meghan experience, my advice would be colored by my own experience. It’s literally unimaginable to me that a father could betray a child. It’s incredibly fortuitious that they found each other. God knows they each understand the betrayal of fathers, probably better than anyone else in their lives ever could. I’m so glad they have each other, and that they can create a new story for their own children instead of merely repeating their parents’ mistakes.

      • JustBitchy says:

@lanne – your words are so sad, yet so fitting and beaut. H&M are an amazing couple and I don’t believe in much, I do believe that something got them together. They are both very lucky for that.

    • tuille says:

I don’t think Liz “stood for” anything very great or
meaningful. Yes, she drove a jeep nearly 80 years ago in WW II. She was very rich, rode horses, treated her Corgis better than she did her kids, she traveled a lot, got curtseyed to all over the Commonwealth, and never acknowledged the harm done by British imperialism & its fallout. She never tried to return any of the antiquities stolen from other countries. She never spoke about healing racism or social injustices.
Lizzie thrifted on the heating bills in her numerous homes & probably had someone darn moth holes in her around the farm sweaters. She’s a figurehead with very little actual value to the country except as a sentimental sweet old granny figure with dippy hats.
Until her last few months, when the MDs cut her intake back to 2, she also famously had 4 drinks a day like clockwork. Maybe kept her on a light buzz?

      • C says:

I think they all drink all day. Which, I mean, I can’t say I wouldn’t like that life, but yeah.
And yeah. She ate cereal out of Tupperware while asking for special poverty funds to heat her palaces. It’s all perspective here.

    • LizaLou says:

      He’s not short though.

      • Over it says:

@snoodle dumpling, Janet dr and some chick, I had absolutely no idea about any video with randy doing that so I just looked it up . It’s beyond vile and I stand corrected he is ahead of his brother in bad father and also should be behind bars for that . Chucky still gets no brownie points for father hood because he is also abusive he just does his emotionally and mentally. So glad Harry got out from among these people and can continue to build a loving, nurturing family with Meghan and his children

  15. SussexWatcher says:

Such an utter clown show. They now realize the result of attacking Harry and Meghan mercilessly was to make them even more popular. People who never paid attention before were coming out in vocal support of Harry and Meghan and condemning the new king. So what do those clowns do? Try to rewrite the narrative that it was Harry who missed the flight and Harry who rejected Chuck’s dinner invitation. Lies, lies and more lies.

Chuck needs to just embrace his own assholery. Be that tyrant king who’s yelling at pens, sneering at staff, stomping out of rooms in a huff (leaving your wife behind), and leaking that you’ll strip the already in place legal birthright for your mixed race grandchildren to punish them and their parents. Embrace your true self because we all see who you really are. Chuck, you are a petty, small man who is jealous of your own son’s success. You’re a man who needs that hardworking, charismatic son for your own reign, yet you cannot stomach the fact that that son married a Black woman and has mixed children and is choosing his family over your promises of titles and baubles. Chuck, you’re a lying POS. And the world see you for who you really are. So go ahead, become that already barely restrained tyrant that you really are.

    • C-Shell says:

When even British Vogue posts an article about the treatment the Sussexes, mainly Meghan, received during the Funeral Extravaganza, calling out the overt racism that’s right out in the open, you know the world is getting fed up. I’ve been traveling all week, so getting these versions in fits and spurts is giving me whiplash!

      • lanne says:

Meghan’s “flaws” at the funeral were…holding hands with her husband in the church, and holding some flowers. Holding flowers. That’s how much of a reach the media has to make in order to demonize Meghan.

Do those people even hear themselves?

      • sparrow says:

I saw the Vogue article online as well. It was really on point.

  16. Yvette says:

Wow, this story is SO different from the one released at the time. I’m sure I can find the first article saying that Harry was still in the air when he was informed that the Queen had passed and that he didn’t get a chance to talk to his father because when he arrived at Balmoral Castle, Charles and William were having a private dinner. The article also said Harry didn’t have a chance to see either his father or brother because he left first thing the next morning.

This new storyline putting it all on Harry is designed to enrage the haters and reclaim public opinion. British people were sympathetic to Harry over how he was being treated by the Royal Family, so much so that the tabloids made it a daily storyline, with every picture showing him composed, stoic, or in obvious mourning. It’s all damage control in an attempt to repaint Harry as the angry, petulant villain. LOL! He was supposedly outraged and angry over not being able to wear his uniform until he released a statement saying the uniform doesn’t define his years of service or who he is.

    • Well Wisher says:

They are hoping for his return alone on a part time basis, so they will first attack his wife in keeping with the arrangement of the now visible contract.
All that you infer, but the attack will resume with his wife, with the caveat that she is not perfect.
All the while understanding that no one is calling for her deitification, just a stop to the relentless vilification.

  17. Becks1 says:

This is what I’ve been saying over the past two weeks. The royal family – Charles, William et al – WANT to brief against Harry. they WANT To punish Harry via the press, to embarrass him via the press.

But now the world is watching and these petty punishments aren’t going over so well so the royal family is tripping over itself to reframe the narrative. Remember a week or so ago the story was that Harry wasnt “invited” to dine with Charles and William and it was a clear sign of his status as a “lesser royal” or something. Well now it seems someone has realized that portraying Harry as having a tantrum and refusing to eat with his father is better than his father rejecting him?

Damn, this family. Even if it wasn’t an intentional snub, and charles and william just went to birkhall and harry was invited but just hadn’t arrived yet – why not wait 15 minutes for him to arrive? The whole “find your own plane” is just so mean and petty as well.

I feel like the world is being reminded again of who the Windsors are and its not a good look for them. KCIII may need those crisis managers back ASAP.

    • Jais says:

I kind of see it as the majority of the international press is gone now that the funeral is over. So now it’s back to business as usual. These stories are to reclaim the domestic audience after they somewhat backed off Harry during that time from her death to the funeral. Now the real leaking of their version is happening.

  18. Amy T says:

I read all of these stories and feel deeply for Princess Margaret. I think, as much as Harry’s mother’s life informed his choices, so did his great aunt’s. Echo everyone who is glad they’re back home with their children, Granny Doria, the dogs, the chickens and, of course, all 15 bathrooms.

  19. Jay says:

Notice how Charles is not saying that he asked his younger son to dine with him, or made any arrangements to make that happen. No, there was an implied “open invitation” and Harry should have just magically known where and when to show up after his long solo journey to Scotland.

And mind you, if he had shown up, chances are we would be hearing about “Harry furiously crashes heirs-only dinner”. Honestly, I’m just done with this ridiculous family’s smallness and pettiness, and I hope Harry is, too.

  20. Concern Fae says:

I believe the first story. Not having dinner with your siblings after your parent’s death is a sign of pretty severe family disfunction.

Note that what Charles is saying is that Harry “snubbed” him for not understanding he had an “open” invitation to come to dinner at Birkhall. So Harry was just supposed to show up? After Charles hadn’t invited his mother’s other children? After Charles had told Harry Meghan couldn’t come to Scotland?

I’ve been trying to explain to people why I’ve been following the RF for so long. And I’m realizing it’s these Rashomon style multiplie versions of events told from different people’s perspectives. And also the bafflement that other people have their own ideas about what happened. My family has a bit of the same dynamic, so I really feel for Harry (and felt for Diana) in all of this.

    • C-Shell says:

Bonus points for the Rashomon reference!

I had a big blow up with my narcissistic mother last night (I usually avoid, try to gray rock, but I got suckered into it), and fully expect to get a version today that bears no resemblance to the reality, and outright denial that she said and did the things she said/did less than 12 hours ago. The gaslighting families do to each other can be epic.

    • salmonpuff says:

My daughter and I follow the royals for the same reason. My parents are like this too, without any of the power or wealth. It’s so frustrating because you know they’re going to pull something and lie about it, but it’s always surprising what they pull and what lies they tell. And about every third interaction is pleasant, just to keep you completely off balance. I really feel for Harry and Meghan and learn a little something about how to handle my own family from the way they deal with theirs.

  21. SJ (they/them) says:

In the words of one then-Princess Leia Organa — “the more you tighten your grip…”

  22. Islandgirl says:

There are now about 3 different versions of this story. Thing is, the fact that it was ever in the public domain speaks to who Charles and William are. In a time of grief, they and their courtiers were not only treating Harry badly, but leaking stories about how awful they were being.
In hindsight they realise that these stories reflect more on them than on Harry so …..stories got to change.
When people show you who they are believe them.
They have now shown clearly why Harry and Meghan were right to leave and to quite a large audience, some of whom were not interested in them one way or the other.

    • SIde Eye says:

You are spot on @Islandgirl. Everything you just said!

    • Mok says:

And the funny thing is they were so LOUD with the original version with all the media and world looking on. Now it’s back to no one paying attention so their attempts to rewrite the story won’t work because the eyes just aren’t there.
Kinda like over 70 million people watching the Oprah interview and the attempts of the RF to change the narrative failing afterwards because they don’t have the same audience.
It’s why Harry and Meghan continue to be loved and supported despite these lies pedaled to the British media.

  23. Brassy Rebel says:

This Windsor ideology that wives are not family is misogynistic as hell. These women birth “the heirs” and the spares, ffs.

    • Tessa says:

Charles used Diana to be the mother of his heirs in that documentary Williams christening was shown and Charles just watched William showing no affection for Diana she looked like she was about to burst into tears very bad treatment

    • MsIam says:

No its only the black wives that aren’t family. Sophie was there. And based on the original story Kate would have come too if it wasn’t the kid’s first day of school. So they didn’t want Meghan. I even wonder whether they would have allowed Meghan to come to the funeral if she wasn’t already in the UK with Harry. I hope the Sussexes are done with all of them. Even if Charles had wanted them back in some role, its obvious he won’t protect them in the media from Baldemort so the Sussexes should stay away.

    • AmB says:

      @Brassy Rebel
Correct. The wives are brood mares.
I’m reminded of that scene in “The Philadelphia Story” where the newly-arrived reporters are looking a the phone – “Look at this! Stables!” “That’s probably so they can talk to the horses without having them in the house.”

  24. susan says:

Charlotte and Louis, even at their young ages, should take some lessons from this behaviour.

  25. Merricat says:

The constantly changing narratives not only make the royal family look like the terrible people they are, it also contradicts their imperative “stability.”

  26. Nevia says:

Just pick one version of the story and stick to it, for crying out loud. This family, I swear, lmao.

I wonder what the real truth is.

    • Well Wisher says:

This version is a rewrite to exact punitive action against Harry, had he followed instructions without questions like the old days he would’ve gotten his old job, handing over total control of his lifeto those who “deserve” it./sarcasm
Instead he refused to dine with the newly minted king and POW, because his wife was not included.

  27. Rapunzel says:

So Harry was told his wife was not invited because it was only closest family allowed. But he was supposed to believe he could still take advantage of an “open invitation” to dine with the very people who told him his wife wasn’t allowed?
In a different location? After traveling a long way? When they didn’t even wait to see him? When literally all the other “closest family” wasn’t invited to dine? And they hadn’t considered his feelings and told the world his grandmother died before telling him?

    Dumb dumb dumb.

I’ll bet the real story is that Charles and William left so as to prevent seeing Harry because they knew he was mad they banned Meg. And that Charles and Will probably ignored everyone else at Balmoral, except maybe Anne, who wouldn’t stand for that.

I’m also guessing that Charles and Will maybe didn’t even tell the others they were leaving. And the two probably wanted the private time to scheme together.

  28. aquarius64 says:

What galls me is that the BRF thinks the public writ large is stupid like the loyal followers and we believe anything they put. Social media and receipts should dissuade the Windsors of that delusion but it won’t.

  29. Regal Beagle says:

Since King Chuckles said Meghan could not go to Balmoral, I think Harry was delayed over security issues. He wanted to make sure Meghan was protected and had security. Apart from the Range Rovers to/from royal residences, it sure looked like Harry flew solo to Scotland without any security detail. I think he left his private security to stay with Meghan.

    • Moxylady says:

Omg I think you are right. God they must have been so desperately worried for the other. I hate their family. So much.

    • Jais says:

      That sounds very likely

    • Becks1 says:

This is a really good theory. It explains the time gap. They refused to hold the RAF plane for him (which presumably would have had security) so he had to discuss with his team what they were going to do and he made sure Meghan was protected. That may also be why he wanted Meghan to go with him – yes as support, but also for security reasons.

  30. Lizzie says:

Sorry, not buying this rubbish unless they want to say who is the source. I’ll consider this all made up propaganda.

  31. Noor says:

Oh dear, I give up. I thought with Charles as King , it will be the dawn of a new era in familial and press relationships. But the backbiting and the smears from the various palaces and insiders, as well as the tabloids’ journalists, commentators and experts are more fierce than ever.

  32. ML says:

The day the queen passed away made it entirely clear that it’s very good Meghan and Harry no longer live in the UK. The fact that Meghan was uninvited, Harry flew differently than the rest to Scotland, KC and PW dined without Harry, and Harry left before anyone else the next morning does not look good, is not good, and shows that this viperous family is massively dysfunctional and vindictive. No matter what story anyone publishes, the original facts cannot be glossed over.

  34. NMB says:

The whole thing with the family and Queen’s passing was weird. None of the other grandchildren went? Kate didn’t go? That’s weird. When my grandma was about to pass away, people flew in from other parts of the country, all of her kids/spouses and grandchildren were keeping a vigil. Spouses of grandchildren were allowed. I feel like the way the Queen’s passing played out just the “important” people were allowed. Her children and William. Harry was an after thought. Spouses married into the family and are outsiders. I don’t know, the Windsors seem clannish and exclusive. It jives with that article/post the other day about outsiders being hazed. The family is WEIRD. While I’m sure there was underlying malice, I also honestly just chalk this up to the family being so wary of outsiders and prioritizing and favoring some members over others. All of that “favorite child” and “favorite grandchild” stuff is gross. (Maybe it’s because my family was SUPER intentional about not playing favorites because my great grandma, a girl, was an afterthought compared to her brothers. She made sure not to favor one child over another and drilled it into subsequent generations.)

    • AnneL says:

I agree, completely weird. Spouses are part of the family. Now, when my father and then my mother-in-law were in their last days, sick and in hospice, sure it was the spouse and children who spent the most time with them. But the in-laws visited, were wanted and certainly allowed. Meghan is Harry’s wife and mother of his children. And why wasn’t Kate there? I can’t believe it’s because of her kids. She has help and they’re not infants.

      What a messed up family.

      • Becks1 says:

Yeah I think its kind of BS that none of the grandkids besides william were there etc. I kind of think she just passed in her sleep, but then there were reports that Anne and Charles were there, so IDK.

I think Kate didn’t go bc she wasn’t wanted, and so Meghan couldn’t go either. And I think the rest of the grandchildren didn’t go because she passed so quickly that they wouldn’t have made it up there in time. They were all there over that weekend though.

that’s the only thing that makes sense in my mind, bc its not like we’re talking about cramming into a small hospital room. They all could have been at Balmoral and in separate rooms without anyone talking to anyone else.

  35. Gabby says:

This is a cover-up of the fact that Harry was NEVER offered a seat on the plane and they purposely left without him. It’s like they just now discovered how bad that looks. I guess you don’t notice things right away when your head is up your own ass.

I do not believe that Harry continued to argue with his “father” to bring Meghan to Balmoral after hearing No the first time.

Before the old bag kicked it, I firmly thought William was worse than Tampon. Now I am not so sure. It really says something when people would rather dine with Edward and Andy.

  36. AnneL says:

This is so deeply weird to me, the way the Windsors treat in-laws like they are not part of the family. It’s so different from my husband’s family, and mine. I had my issues with my mother-in-law but she always treated me like a daughter. Almost too much so, honestly. I had to set boundaries to remind her I was my own person and had a mother who had raised me. But her heart was in the right place.

Do they have have hearts, these people? Or is it just legos in there?

    • Mary says:

Yes, @annel, it is sad how they treat in-laws. Or, rather the women that marry into the family. I thought it was a shame that neither Serena nor Autumn were invited to any of the funeral proceedings because they recently divorced royal family members. Autumn had been a family member for over 10 years and Serena even longer than that. Yet, they are kicked to the curb (but Fergie gets an invite!?).

  37. PunkPrincessPhD says:

Wait, so did Charles make Harry cry? Or did Harry make Charles cry?! Where are the tights?!!!

  38. Jess says:

At this point I hope the Sussexes do not go to the coronation. They just need to cut off that racist, toxic family and watch the monarchy crumble!

  39. Elsa says:

These people are so vile. Meghan is an angel. I cannot stand how they treat her. I think she is every bit as sweet and wonderful as she appears. No artifice. Just a real human. I love her.

  40. Leelee says:

There is simply no way in which any of us have a right to demand how a family should grieve. Whoever is in the wrong, can it not seem reasonable to not invite discord into a highly traumatic situation for all? This community has become shrill in its excessive defence of Harry and Meghan.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Leelee, so are you saying that grief made the brf leak these stories about H&M, which appeared to be about humiliating them? Are you saying grief made the brf treat them like pariahs? Why do you read the comments if you think that we have become shrill in our excessive defence of Harry and Meghan? You needn’t read any of the comments, nor do you need to post.

Interesting, you didn’t say what you thought of how H&M were treated.

    • Well Wisher says:

That is correct under the conditions that private grief remains private.

There is no need to judge, but to question the validity of assertions in ensuing leaks.

    • Beverley says:

It seems to me that “shrill” is subjective. If you’re comfortable and enjoy the denigration of Harry and Meghan by the British press and the RF’s endless leaks, then that doesn’t seem at all shrill to you. Instead those who are pointing out the double standards, pettiness, and racism of this situation and defending H&M are considered shrill.

But to me, the ongoing hatefulness and daily criticisms of Meghan and Harry seem shrill. It’s as though their detractors have become more and more unhinged and ridiculous as H&M live their lives.

  41. Chichi says:

The fact that partners were not welcome is ok with me. I tend to agree with the view that partners are family to the person they married, not their family. But then why were some partners present? The whole drama probably erupted because William didn’t even think about bringing his wife and so they were trying to save face. Can you imagine Meghan there but not the future keen? It’s all optics with this people and they are terrible at it.

  42. Well Wisher says:

This is a rewrite of how the events leading to and the eventual death of the monarch.
As described in the daily beast, things are moved into place to administer the plan laid out in the dailybeast article.
A brilliant piece of journalism/gossip, it answered all the pertinent questions.
All bullies/cowards tend to embrace their perceived victimhood.
This new item is requesting its readers ignore the earlier leaks by Kate, and ascribing someone else’s emotions to Prince Harry.
Prince Harry does not seem overly concerned about status, one sense that it is more about heritage – a big difference.
Materialism in moderation in the best of tradition.
This is the argument moving forward.
I hope the King fails miserably in the quest of destroying his second son and his family.
I hope that his son Harry, safeguard himself with love, selfcare and distance.
Establish firm boundaries, in order to live life to its fullest.
Do not compromise on your values, you cannot afford to.

  43. Bella says:

Let me preface this by saying I KNOW IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN but how glorious would it be for “them” to abolish the monarchy before KC’s coronation

The glee would sustain me for a lifetime and a half

  44. beerose says:

I am honestly not surprised this is happening to Harry. He doesn’t have to look far into history to see what happens when you try to break away/refuse your title. Look at Edward and Wallis. It’s not the greatest example because they turned out to be Nazi sympathizers but immediately after his denouncement of his title/duty, the family moved to cut him out. The fact of the matter is Harry cannot be a Prince in a monarchy, enjoy the “benefits” of utilizing a birthright based on nothing but being born into a family that colonized the world and did hateful things, and also be a leading humanitarian. I’m sorry, but that’s just the way I see it. You can’t bite the arm that feeds you (and it does bc independently he does not have money except for the trust his mom set up for him) and still expect the same treatment. End. of. story.

    • Beverley says:

Ah contraire! Harry DOES have his own money, even beyond what Diana left him. Have you been under a rock, or asleep at the wheel? Besides the millions his upcoming book will fetch him, he has two jobs – at Better Up, and at Travelyst. And he’s still got the documentary about the Invictus Games coming up. He paid back monies spent on the renovations to Frogmore Cottage, and purchased his own mansion in sunny California. There was no handout asked for…and none given. Harry did that on his own.

I think Harry was justified in thinking that he and his wife weren’t welcome (Meghan being a Black American and all…) and getting his family out of there. But he is still a blood Prince, a military veteran, and a humanitarian dignitary.

Interesting that you suggest that you cannot be both a royal and a humanitarian. Interesting indeed.

    • Truth says:

He didn’t denounce his title. Working royal is not a duty. It’s a job that he was born into and never seem to really want. Add the abuse to it and he was out.

Heck if all those with privilege used it for good like he does the world would be better.

    • Tessa says:

Edward never lost his his royal highness designation he gave up title of king but took title duke if Windsor but he did serve as king

  45. BeanieBean says:

BUT SOPHIE WENT!!!! Do they really think this stupid excuse of theirs flies? NO. IT DOES NOT.

    • Well Wisher says:

The attack on Meghan has resumed also the children on a smaller scale,(taking away birthright in form of titles) to emasculate Harry and put him in his place.
The public does not have to believe their “excuses” which is a precursor to come.

  46. Nic919 says:

Meghan was excluded because Kate was not there. And kate was not there because as we have seen, William and Kate are separated and cannot stand being around each other for long periods of time.

Once again Meghan and Harry get treated poorly because of William’s bad marriage.

    • Well Wisher says:

The point is whether Harry was misguided in expecting that Meghan would’ve been included since they were invited to Balmoral for a sleepover in late August.
The Queen died on September 8.
She was considered “family” in late August, but not Sept 8 irregardless of Kate’s absence/presence.
One has the feeling that the word family morphed into “blood relative” and Harry wanted no part of that scenario.
He has his own family of four.

  47. blunt talker says:

King Charlie is definitely punishing Harry-using every trick in the book which is really about Harry’s book-they attack him through his wife and children which I find so odious-Using sources in the tabloids without names is hellish and evil of the highest order-I will never forgive the royal family for what they did and said to the Sussexes to destroy them-I don’t know who owns yahoo but they are ass kissers for the royal family all day long-forgiving the royal family is indeed a massive undertaking-if Meghan did all they say she did why use sources instead of names of the actual accusers and let them speak for themselves -because they have all of a thousand years of plotting, killing, lying, and damaging people-they feel very invincible -they will do anything to stop Harry’s book coming out-God please keep the Sussex family in your hands.

  48. Maggie says:

There are so many different takes on all this that it’s hard to know what really happened – we’ll never know. We have to consider though that it was maybe Queen Elizabeth’s wish that only her children were witness to her final moments – and maybe Sophie who was apparently like a second daughter to her. The Queen was a very dignified person and perhaps preferred not be be seen in her most vulnerable moments by anyone other than these people. The Queen had also had a strained relationship with Harry and Meghan in the last few years and was very aware of the media circus that seemed to accompany them.

    • Merricat says:

Lol, honey, no. I disagree with every single thing you’ve written here. You do know that the “media circus” that repeatedly smears Meghan and Harry is created by the royal family’s efforts to distract from their bags o’money deals and rampant racism? You do know that the queen could have put a stop to that at any time? Are you lost?

  49. Anne says:

It does makes sense for the daughters-in-law not to be “invited” to Balmoral as the Queen passed away. While inclusivity is important, privacy for those who grieve is also important. Consider placing oneself in Charles’ shoes – his bond with his mother is totally different to Meghan. Plus Meghan went on TV to smear his mother and his reputation, monetising her relationship to royal family. No matter whether Meghan was in the right, it will difficult to forgive her action moving forward.

    • Beverley says:

Duchess Meghan never smeared the Queen. She pointedly praised her repeatedly and spoke warmly of their solo engagement. Harry and Meghan specifically cleared TQ and Prince Phillip regarding the conversations about Prince Archie’s skin color. And how is revealing racial abuse actually considered WORSE than the racial abuse itself? Meghan is evil because she’s revealed how racist the RF really is?

Stop trying to change the narrative in order to hate on Meghan. Tell the truth (if you’re capable of doing so). She’s hated because she refused to silently accept the abuse and had the audacity to tell on her abusers.

  50. Robin Samuels says:

When I received the news that Queen Elizabeth died, I envisioned the royals grieving the loss of the 96-year-old monarch flawlessly. Her children demonstrate a united front, and Charles, the designated heir, stepping forward shows the potential for a smooth transition of power. I was wrong. Television talk show pundits were alerted and changed into black attire before the official announcement. Within minutes after the death announcement, the clown show began. It’s as if the press had prepared the storylines weeks prior—the leaks flooding the airways. Conversations ensued concerning who arrived before and after. Those not invited to Balmoral and those at Balmoral not invited to dine with the King. Change of titles and position and, of course, terminations. The next day the King spoke to his subjects and went on local tours throughout the Kingdom.
Maybe in 2023, on the anniversary of her death, British media and King Charles will acknowledge the life and death of the Queen.

  51. HeyKay says:

The BRF is very messed up.
They are all fighting to keep the Monarchy going because it is a huge company, worth billions and it employs a huge amount of people. If it goes under, what are any of them going to do? They have little real world experience or skills.

The infighting and backstabbing is on a unreal level.

IMO, William does not want the job. And I can almost guarantee his doesn’t George or Charlotte stuck in it either.

Princess Anne, who has been hard working for decades as a senior royal, really had the right idea with her children. No titles, no royal duties but still raised with wealth.

I wonder if Kate envies Pippa?
Pippa married a wealthy man, has children, none of the BRF to deal with.
I would if I was Kate.
