Morgan Spector: ‘Anti-Semitism in this country… is real & it never goes away’

Here are some photos of Morgan Spector, Carrie Coon and the cast of The Gilded Age from Sunday. They were previewing the new season at the Paley Center. If you watched The Gilded Age’s first season, you KNOW Morgan Spector is a hot piece. He’s tall, dark and smoldering. He has insane chemistry with literally every single one of his costars. It’s a unique energy – I’m halfway expecting his character to bang every one in his path, but so far, he’s loyal to his wife Bertha, played by Carrie Coon. In real life, Morgan is married to Rebecca Hall, that lucky B. In real life, Morgan is Jewish. At the Paley Center, he was asked about Kanye West’s anti-Semitic blitz on social media:

Morgan Spector was shocked to hear of Kanye West’s unhinged anti-Semitic rant, in which he promised “to go death con 3 ON JEWISH PEOPLE.”

“What the f–k is he talking about,” “The Gilded Age” actor, 42, exclaimed to Page Six when told of the now-deleted tweet from Saturday night.

“Defcon on the Jews? What does that mean?” Spector, who is Jewish, asked Page Six, at a PaleyFest NY event on Sunday afternoon. After being filled in on the details, “The Plot Against America” star simply said, “Dude.”

“I think, anti-Semitism in this country is both real and violent and an ever-present part of, like, a neo-nazi, white supremacist ideology, it never goes away,” he added.

Spector also noted that the “Gold Digger” rapper has a “cunning” and “instinct for bulls–t drama.

“You will pay attention to me. We’ll talk about nothing but me for two days” he said. “You know he’s got that gift. I don’t even know, who knows what he actually believes in? I don’t know him personally at all, but, I do think that a lot of what he’s doing is just about, like, ‘Look at me. Don’t ever stop looking at me,’ and I think, you know, the best thing we can do is, just like, tune it out.”

The “Homeland” alum noted that the important question is whether the tweet was “immediately reviled” or applauded.

“You see these mass killings and these various manifestos … it’s insane,” Spector continued. “It’s always been insane and it’s always been stupid and just because it’s insane and stupid doesn’t mean one can’t kill you. It’s unfortunate.”

[From Page Six]

Yeah, during the Trump administration, the Southern Poverty Law Center studied the steep rise in hate crimes targeting Jewish people, synagogues and Jewish cemeteries. Trumpism didn’t just unleash racist hatred and violence against Black communities, Muslim communities and Asian communities, it also led to a significant and vocal rise in anti-Semitism. The neo-Nazis who marched in Charlottesville in 2017 were literally squealing and chanting about Jewish people. So yeah… Kanye’s specific anti-Semitism didn’t come out of nowhere. This is all part of his MAGA ideology of white supremacist Christofascism. I agree with Morgan that most people, just regular people, should simply refuse to engage with Kanye specifically. Don’t give him air.

He’s hot, Carrie Coon looks amazing, and I can’t wait for Gilded Age S2!

MS’s description of Kanye is one of the best I’ve seen, and in no way does he suggest Ye’s mental state is a reason or excuse for his unconscionable MAGAt ranting. We are in a fight for our lives and freedoms. We can’t give any of this stuff a pass.

Can’t wait for Gilded Age season 2!! Team Bertha all the way!!!
Also – love what Spector had to say about the whole Kanye mess. We’ve got to stop giving the spotlight and attention to all these wackos and their message.

Yup. Same for anti-black sentiment. Racists and anti-Semites thrive on hating any non-white people but are obsessed with taking down Black and Jewish people. All trump did was give a loud voice to the hate mongers and embolden them. I will never back down but I am heartbroken and scared.

They’re also obsessed with pitting Blacks & Jews against each other. It’s obscene the success they have with that due to the number of people (white Jews who are racist & Black people who are antisemitic) willing to work hard for the white supremacy that hates them because they’ve chosen to believe only the worst about the other groups white supremacists want to oppress. I feel really bad for Black Jews who not only get it from both sides, but are often expected to address the issue & do extra emotional labor for others

I really agree. I am not trying to tell the Celebitchy team how to do their job, and will continue to come here and read/comment regardless, but I would love to see him not covered here anymore. Take or leave that feedback.
