Prince Andrew made a ‘secret visit’ to Bahrain, his first overseas trip in years

By most accounts, Prince Andrew has spent the past few months holed up in Royal Lodge, his spacious mansion on the Royal Windsor Estate. There are regularly photos of Andrew going out riding on the estate, and we’ve heard reports of shooting parties too. This has been Andrew’s life since he was forced to “step down” as a working royal yet again and stripped of most of his patronages, all following his out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre earlier this year. Andrew has begged Charles to let him “come back” in some way but Charles has said “no way.” Which leaves Andrew with a lot of time on his hands and nothing to do. Thankfully, Andrew still has “friends.” Friends in Bahrain’s royal family?

Prince Andrew has secretly visited Bahrain amid claims he is targeting an unofficial role as intermediary between the West and oil-rich Gulf states in the energy crisis. The disgraced Duke of York, 62, flew out last week on a billionaire Swiss contact’s jet to be pampered in five-star, all-expenses-paid luxury by his long-standing friends in the kingdom’s Royal Family.

It was reported recently he has been eyeing a return to public life through a trade role although the reason for the trip was not recorded in the Court Circular as he is no longer a working royal. Sources claim he “fancies his chances” of another stint as government special representative for international trade and investment — and believes he could try to persuade Saudi Arabia to increase oil production.

Others said he was in Bahrain on holiday as a “privately-funded” guest of honour. There are also claims that he sees the Middle East as a safe haven where he could settle, as his reputation in the UK lies in tatters.

It is his first trip outside Britain since the summer of 2019 when he was flown to southern Spain on a golfing trip a few weeks after the prison death of his paedophile financier pal Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke — nicknamed “Air Miles Andy” for his frequent trips abroad before he was grounded — is believed to be staying at the Four Seasons hotel in Manama where the Royal Suite costs £8,600-a-night and coffee is served in 24-carat gold cups. He has been a regular visitor to Bahrain and is known to be a fan of its championship-standard course, The Royal Golf Club.

[From The Sun]

There is absolutely no way that King Charles or the British government would sign off on Andrew having an official or even unofficial position like this – anything like “special envoy” or “trade ambassador” is completely and totally off the table. Now, could I see Andrew living in exile in Bahrain or the Middle East? Yes. I could. Especially when the money runs out – we don’t know what kind of money Andrew even has at this point, or who he owes and where he got his money. We don’t know if Charles will eventually kick him out of Royal Lodge. But if that happens, sure, I could see Andrew exiled in Bahrain. I think it’s far more likely that this was just a gross “vacation” for the nonce though.

Why are a lot of these Middle Eastern countries so accomodating to these troubled figures? Just at the top of my head Michael Jackson, Idi Amin also ran off there. The hosts are probably paying for everything so I doubt it’s money nor anything they can get in return because they are usually disgraced by the time they settle there.

I actually do think it’s money. Saudis etc. probably need to deploy all that cash somehow without being subject to international rules and laws. It seems to me like the RF are the perfect cover with all their ‘charities’ and their permanent exemption from rules, taxes, laws. In return, they earn a commission – the suitcases of cash.

I also think that Andrew offered to be the bag man since Charles can’t do it anymore as king. I mean, who cares if Andrew is caught doing something shady with cash? His reputation is already in the toilet.

I genuinely wonder if he’s smart enough to stay away from under age girls?

      Doubtful to nope IMO.

Maybe thats the reason for Saudi-Arabia. No rights for women, he can rape as many underaged girls he wants without legal truble, as long as he sticks to household slaves.
      This man makes me ill.

Google tells me that while Bahrain has some issues with sex trafficking, largely associated with the US military, it’s not high on the list of offenders. So he probably has other illicit interests there.

What does he need a vacation from? He’s been on perpetual vacation since the BBC interview and loss of status as “working royal”. And I wonder if he takes his teddy bear collection on these jaunts.

I wonder how much money the Queen left. It’s believed that Pr. Phillip left his estate to the Queen. You would think he has a sizeable sum all the taxpayer’s money she received from the Duchy of Lancaster. Her private money. Balmoral and Sandringham don’t cost that much to run. It could be a money grab, but I’m betting on a vacation. The Queen could have stocked a bunch of the money in trusts.

If Philip had left his estate to Elizabeth, his will would not have been sealed for 100 years (or whatever the number is.) His money went to his illegitimate children, and maybe Anne.

Ugh, he is so creepy. Just one look at that top photo and I’m cringing.

I firmly believe he only went there because he had the protection of the royal family of Bahrain. If he goes anywhere else he risks being detained or served papers. He is still wanted for questioning. There is a reason he has not left the protection of the UK. He was ALWAYS traveling before the Epstein arrest. No one wants to ask about this though. It’s all BUT HARRY AND MEGHAN!

“coffee is served in 24-carat gold cups”
Sorry to be Italian on main, but the coffee cup is supposed to retain heat (ceramic, glass, porcelain), not disperse it (metal).

That said, I’m curious if the Tories could be so suicidal as to appoint Ole Air Miles to a new role. Charles clearly cut him out, but will the government?

  9. Eurydice says:

Yeah, no. He won’t be a trade envoy and Bahrain isn’t kissing up to him because they love him. Most likely, they think he might have still have familial pull with Charles and I can see them paying Andrew for access – it’s been done before..

If the consequences of his actions weren’t so heartbreaking, I’d laugh and laugh at this guy. He thinks he’s a suave, savvy liaison between powerful men, forging connections at the highest levels to solve the world’s crises. And in actuality he’s a joke of a man who tries to scam everyone he gets near and sees SA as a perk of making these ‘deals’. Every time he presents himself as a factor for industry or politics, he harms his family’s and his country’s reputation. And yet no matter how many times he’s smacked down, that’s the image he keeps of himself. Unreal.
