Did Kimora Lee Simmons use her real body in a perfume ad?

babyphat

The above image is the new print ad for the perfume “Dare Me” which was apparently created by Kimora Lee Simmons. She is the face of “Dare Me” and will be starring in all future advertising for the perfume. Kimora told WWD that “message with this fragrance is empowerment and self-reliance.” Unspoken: “…empowerment and self-reliance and somebody sticking my head on another woman’s body.” Don’t believe me? Here’s is a photo of Kimora from the beginning of March:

So, basically, the ad is beyond airbrushing. HuffPo and New York Magazine are both theorizing about whether Kimora’s head really was popped onto some other lady’s body, and whether or not this was Kimora’s evil plan all along:

Kimora Lee Simmons’s new fragrance Dare Me is cheap. No, really. Instead of beginning with prestige distribution like her past fragrances, this will go straight to a total of 18,000 mass-market doors, like Walgreens, Target, and Kohl’s stores. Prices range from $12 for a travel-size bottle to $28 for a full ounce.

However, what probably wasn’t cheap about this launch were the marketing materials, because hello, retoucher! Either they Photoshopped Kimora’s body to death or stuck her head on a model’s body. The question is, if they did the latter, would they tell her? Ironically, Kimora says the “message with this fragrance is empowerment and self-reliance.”

[From New York Magazine]

Yep. And you know Kimora probably approved this sh-t 100%. What I’d really like to know is whether or not the staff was like, “Actually, we’re just going to pop your head onto this chick’s body” or if they didn’t say anything and Kimora actually thinks she looks like this. Note: I am not saying Kimora has a bad figure at all. Her normal body looks fine – great even, especially since she just gave birth to son Kenzo less than a year ago. And obviously, she’s got something going on, because Djimon Hounsou is still all over her. But let’s be straight – this is not her body, and she shouldn’t be putting herself out there, promotionally, with lines like “this fragrance is all about empowerment and self-reliance.” Empowerment is not your head on another woman’s body.

She looks wonderful!! But that is totally not her body in the add… That is like the unrealistic Ralph Lauren ad where the head was bigger than the waist!
Look at those long skinny beanpole legs! Looks more like Chanel Iman’s body with Kimora’s head!

  2. Sarah says:

She has a great body, but that’s not hers in the ad. lol. What a shame.

  3. annerox says:

did she use her real body?! HELL NO! I love Kimora, but come on!! What are you telling your little girls!?

  4. NJMDPS says:

I love Kimora as well but that is definitely not her body. I’m disappointed to think she might have had final approval to do this to her cover shot. I gave her more credit than that…..always thought she was her own person comfortable in her own skin.

  5. snowball says:

Kimora’s never looked like that, not even during her “modeling” days. She’s never had that kind of a waist or thin legs.

Even back then, there was gossip about her being a man because of her lack of a girly body.

She may be all girly girly – and she is, her show is hilarious and she really is a successful control freak mogul who’s got her fingers in every single one of her pots (not always to their advantage). She’s awesome in a lot of ways and even if you don’t like her personally, she is a sort of good role model, even if she does have (Tim Gunn voice) questionable taste.

But that’s seriously not her body.

  6. Jillian says:

Yeah, that’s not her. The normal looking neck is a dead give away.

  7. mel says:

False advertisement but if the perfume smelled decent I would probably purchase a bottle.

  8. flourpot says:

Those legs look like Ballerina Barbie’s. Skinny, plastic and unrealistic. I swear the photoshop people being hired are getting their training on Windows paint. Just horrible.

  9. Annabelle says:

Ugh I h8 this btch with a passion. I don’t think there is anyone more arrogant or self absorbed.

  10. lola lola says:

I hope they just airbrushed her because the idea of anyone being that bony is kinda gross. However, since she is the most vain woman on the planet, they probably just used someone else’s body.

  11. Rianna says:

That whole body is photoshopped beyond belief. I have never seen a woman with long skinny legs like that. The legs are about six foot long by themselves! How is that attractive?
You can see the where the head has been smudged in to the top of the body, also the head is at a completely weird angle to the rest of the body.

  12. Hautie says:

She was this thin maybe 15 years ago.

I saw the E! bio of her and she was very thin with huge implants in the last year or so of her modeling on the runway. She is probably a good 60 pounds heavier now.

But the comment about her neck is sooo dead on. Even in her ultra thin days she always had rolls on her neck!

  13. Schnauzers!!!!! says:

They airbrushed her face and stuck it on someone elses body. Poor girl. I wish she had just felt confident enough to “Dare” to use her own image. I don’t care for her anyway, but this is kinda sad to me. What is she telling little girls and young women? “Dare” (to put your face on someone elses body because you are not good enough as you are)
That’s one perfume I won’t buy myself or my daughter.

  14. CHelly says:

Probably used the same guy who photoshopped that ad for RL…kinda similiar, not too far off from that ad at all. Such ashame.

  15. bros says:

what we need to do is pass a law exactly like the UK which forces magazines and print material to state quite clearly that retouching and photoshop has been used and then we wouldnt have stupid guessing games like this. its totally not her body and she gained quite a bit of weight with her recent pregnancy. she should just own up to it. empowerment my ass.

  16. ogechi says:

    Fabulocity herself.

  17. lucy2 says:

So clearly not her body (not even her body type!), and whoever it is was STILL airbrushed into ridiculousness.

I guess she’s pretty, but I’ve only seen her on TV a few times and found her pretty annoying each time.

  18. nAynAy says:

    No, no, and NO!!!

  19. Lisa says:

LOL! NO, a thousand times NO!

EDIT: She’s rocking those last two dresses though. She looks fantastic in real life!

  20. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

    NO!

  21. canadianchick says:

I like her real life body-too bad she didn’t use it in the ad. Dayum she’s lucky to be shagging Djimon Hounsou. He’s so yummy…

  22. R2D2 says:

LOL, that is sooo not her body.
I dont find her attractive either way but what a deceitful ad.

  23. annaloo says:

    Aw, hell naw!

THe thighs alone give it away… the shape above the knee is not even remotely the same.

C’mon Kimora! I’m in your corner, but be real!

  24. ViktoryGin says:

All that body tampering and no one thought to airbrush that head??

  25. Kelaa Khaa says:

I don’t get why KS didn’t use her real body, which looks much better than the grasshopper one on the mag cover. Also the last thing that this world needs is another stenchgrance – once one has been overly exposed to chemicals the stuff is no better than a sharpie or paint fumes and likely contains similar ingredients.

  26. Cinderella says:

It just goes to show, you can be anyone you want to be in print.

  27. Brooke says:

I’m sure it’s her body, just digitally distorted by the same photoshop artist responsible for the Ralph Lauren ads. She must have seen those ads and thought to herself – now here is a solution, no diet needed.

  28. Emily says:

I agree with flourpot. Those legs aren’t from another girl, they’re from a Barbie doll. She looks much better in the other photos.

  29. Sudini says:

@ Brooke – I was just about to say the same thing! It looks like the same handywork alright. Ick.

  30. Novaraen says:

Looks like they used Mariah Carey’s airbrushing and photoshopping crew. Those long stretched legs look so unnatural. If it is her, which it doesn’t look it….they did one hellofa job photoshopping her.

  31. Anne de Vries says:

She has a great figure, shame she didn’t feel she could just show it for the ad.

Not only is it not her body, but the model they used was photoshopped into oblivion – the legs have been lengthened, the proportions are all off.

  32. Lee says:

The first thing I looked for was the neck rolls – nope, not there. Then the rest of the body – nope, not hers. How stupid do they think the average person is? It’s really very insulting on so many levels – to her, to us…

  33. late night wigs says:

My God, now I’ve seen it all. Snowball, you CANNOT POSSIBLY think that someone as disgusting as Kimora Lee Simmons is a good role model! Are you smoking crack or what? This ugly, nasty, hot dog necked creature is hideous inside and out. I watched her show, and all she does is brag about her material possessions, preen and pose in front of the mirror, shop for overpriced tacky sh*t, treat her employees worse than garbage, and all this in front of two impressionable little girls that will grow up to be just as nasty, shallow, self-absorbed and materialistic as their mother. She is horrible and I wouldn’t buy her crap perfume or her tacky, trashy Baby Phat garbage for any reason. I refuse to use my dollars to support someone so materialistic, hateful, snotty, vain, selfish and DISGUSTING as this creature. I do wish she’d crawl back under her rock because the last thing the world needs is more of these scumbags.

  34. Leo the Yardie Chick says:

AUGH! They gave her a Barbie doll body! Look at those legs!

  35. annaloo says:

@ Lee– there are a LOT of stupid people out there, trust me… there are.

  36. ogechi says:

    @Late nightwig:

I totally disagree wt u because Kimora Lee Simmons is a role model to a lot of women today whether you accept that or not. Your argument and attack on snowball is uncalled for and full of envy and jealousy. I wear only baby phat and NEXT jeans. Baby phat has beautiful designs and am proud i have them! She is not ugly, nasty, hot dog necked creature is hideous inside and out as u portrayed her. Get over yourself and do well too. Her kids are smart like her mum. I love her show and it inspires me-PERIOD!!!

  37. ewww says:

I agree with the Barbie legs theory, I don’t believe those are human legs. Totally plastic!

  38. daisyfly says:

    That’s her real body.

    FROM 1995!

  39. alexandra says:

She is so abnoxious anyway, another annoying thing coming out of her. She has cankels period.

  40. Benny says:

Wow, not only did her legs get skinnier, they got LONGER too! That must be some awsome perfume.

  41. Ruffian9 says:

Not her body, nor anyone’s ‘real’ body. Those legs have been photoshopped to Sunday & back. Do advertisers think we’re stupid, or are we supposed to be in on the joke?

  42. alexandra says:

    @Benny lol Touche!!!

  43. Ana says:

Damn Jillian you stole my comment! Lol. That’s the first thing I looked for!

  44. p3rp3tu4 says:

What makes that occur on a persons neck?

  45. cult of skaro 23 says:

No, which is a shame as she has a lovely hourglass figure.

  46. Michelle says:

Great body and loads of attitude.
