Royal Ascot began on Tuesday, and here are some photos of Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall attending Day 1. Honestly, I consistently forget that these three events usually line up in a row: Trooping the Colour, Garter Day and Ascot. The Windsors have months where nothing much is happening and then BAM! Busy for a whole week. Not so much in Zara and Mike’s case, since they didn’t attend Trooping or Garter Day, but they love anything to do with horses.
For Day 1, Zara wore a pale lilac dress by Rebecca Vallance. Zara wears a lot of Vallance looks and they’re never flattering – these are the puffy-shouldered, weird-sleeved, tea-length dresses which have been “on trend” in the UK (and beyond) for years now. Every woman who wears this style looks awful. Zara paired the dress with a Juliette Millinery hat, Emmy London heels, an Anya Hindmarch purse and Bulgari sunglasses. I wonder which of those brands are paying Zara? Meanwhile, something funny happened when Zara and Mike tried to enter Ascot:
Zara Tindall was turned away from the gates of Royal Ascot this afternoon after a security guard failed to realise who she was. Zara was accompanied by husband Mike and his rugby friends including Austin Healey and Nicky Robinson as the group chatted warmly with acquaintances and well-wishers on their arrival.
After attempting to enter via the owners’ entrance, Zara was directed towards the ticket office due to not having a pass and politely acknowledged the instruction. The mistake by the well-meaning security guard was quickly seized upon by colleagues, with one rushing over to inform the member of staff that the King’s niece was most certainly able to enter.
The pair posed for pictures with waiting press and signed autographs for opportunistic passersby before entering the Royal Enclosure ahead of the first race.
While “don’t you know who I am” was probably not verbalized, I’m sure it was implied. Why would Zara try to breeze in through the owner’s entrance if she didn’t have a pass though? Or tickets? It’s also funny because King Charles didn’t allow Zara and Mike to ride in one of the carriages for the Royal Procession. Zara’s brother got invited into one of the carriages. Hm!! I looked closely at Zara’s pass (on her lapel) – it says “Parade Ring Pass,” which apparently *does* ensure her access to the royal enclosure. Why didn’t she have that pass when she tried to enter Ascot though?

I think peter wants more attention and a greater role now that he’s married again. The two were waving to the crowds. I wonder if Charles will give him a bigger role and will scooter allow it. Zara signing autographs probably made her feel better. And she and Mike posing for pictures
Another mouth to feed? Does Charles have the fund? I kid. I’m sure they would like a role but the whole slimmed down monarchy is working against Charles in practice and as a cover to banish his son. So now he has to deal with what he’s created all because of his weak ego.
I read this and was lmao.. when people in your own country don’t recognize you, you are truly not as important as you think you are.
The people running your family’s event nonetheless! She’s not even tagged as a VIP 😅
Charles and Zara in that last photo:
Zara: And then they turned me away! Like I was nobody!
Charles: Well….
Zara: OH HAHAHA, YOU! THAT’S SO FUNNY
Charles: Oh look, there’s Someone Else. Kiss kiss to you and…yours
Zara: YES INDEED I THINK I SHALL GO SAY CHEERIO TO THE QUEEN…
Charles: (already turned away, not listening)
No idea why she didn’t have the pass but not surprised that the guards didn’t recognized her. Bc really why would they?
Exactly Jais. The guards did their jobs. Why is that article acting like the security guard did something wrong?
My reaction as well. It’s not Zara’s first time to Ascot, she knows the rules. And if any of the rules changed I’m sure that was communicated to her. It doesn’t sound like the guard was rude, just that he directed her to get the correct ticket and she agreed. I think she’ll be fine lol.
Given Zara’s annual all expenses paid trip to the Australian Magic Millions horse events where she frequently wears Australian designer Rebecca Vallance I would imagine all her outfits from the designer are gifted.
Gifted or not, the joke is on her, because she looks awful. This is objectively bad and that hat is doing unforunate things to her face. They both look like they have been on a bender and are still puffy from the alcohol.
I’m reminded of that fantastic New Statesman piece recently where a pap said he couldn’t even give away pictures of Zara 😂
So… does that mean what it’s supposed to mean?
Fiona and Shrek are nothing without the RF?
The same thing the Derangers always try to tell us about a happy couple living blissfully, peacefully, successfully *and rich* an ocean and a continent away?
Too bad for the Tindalls that even the sycophantic BM are making fun of them.
Ill say something nice: I appreciate that Zara looks like a normal woman and does not diet herself into nothingness.
I agree, @Tuesday. I will also say that the lilac dress is not hideous, and pretty much her style. She has worn worse.
I don’t think Peter riding is indicative of anything more than the king giving him and Harriet a wedding treat. Charles is his godfather. He’s not a royal, he’s not going to be doing anything official. I don’t know why people think he would.
“While ‘don’t you know who I am’ was probably not verbalized, I’m sure it was implied.”. Exactly. The same thing happened to her at an equestrian event and she did not respond well to that at all. There were pictures of her storming off after having alleged “words” with the event employee. I’m sure it happened more times than we know of, she just knew this time to make nice for the cameras.
