The news caught people off-guard, because while their marriage was messy, they both seemed to want to make it work.
Bunnie is the stepmother to Jelly’s two children, Bailee Ann, 18, and Noah Buddy, nine. Jelly has joint custody of Noah, but he and Bunnie have had primary custody of Bailee since she was nine, and Bailee is close with both of them. The online speculation about what went wrong has upset Bailee a lot. In a now-expired TikTok video, she told people to mind their own business. She also said she’ll speak out about it eventually. Bailee Ann DeFord is making her voice heard amid her parents’ breakup. Amid the news of her dad Jelly Roll and stepmom Bunnie Xo’s divorce, the teenager reacted to the public’s interest in what she considers to be a personal situation, asking fans not to get involved.
“I am disgusted at how invested everyone is in a very clearly private family matter,” Bailee wrote on her TikTok Stories June 16. “It’s fkn crazy.”
The 18-year-old added, “Go on somewhere y’all. Worry bout your house—not mine.”
But while she told people to mind their business, she hinted at sharing her thoughts on the divorce publicly in the future, adding, “I’m not speaking on it—yet.”
I feel for Bailee. She’s clearly hurting, so I get the knee jerk reaction to defend her parents. Bailee’s biological mom struggles with addiction and she’s had a stable home with Bunnie and Jelly for most of her childhood. She just turned 18 and graduated from high school last month. Now, her world is crashing down.
On that same note, Bunnie is also obviously hurting right now. While she absolutely has the right to express herself, her social media posts that allude to infidelity aren’t helping anyone. On the flip side, sources close to Jelly are trying to spin the divorce as the two of them growing apart. For Bailee and Noah’s sake, both sides should prioritize keeping things private.
