Angela Bassett wore Yara Shoemaker to the MI photocall in Cannes: stunning?

Cannes is well underway, with some dumb last minute wardrobe restrictions from organizers who don’t want press for their festival. Maybe they’re hoping to drum up controversy, but this just makes them look antiquated. I wanted to report on the Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning photocall this morning because there’s some excellent fashion! I’m also so happy to be reminded that Angela Bassett is in it! (She was in the last one but I honestly forgot. Those movies are so much fun, but they’re forgettable.) This incredible salmon and sequin suit is by Yara Shoemaker. Unfortunately Blake Lively has worn it, but it was styled poorly. No one could wear this look like Angela. Kudos to her stylist.

Hannah Waddingham was in a floral embroidered strapless Elie Saab gown that looked like a work of art and fit her expertly. Look at the detailing on this piece.

Tramel Tillman is also in this! I’ve heard he doesn’t get enough screen time and that he’s mesmerizing.

Tom Cruise was looking a bit goofy, which I appreciate, but I also think he needs a haircut. Maybe this is for a role. That man hustles so hard and has no fear.

Hayley Atwell was in flouncy white Giambattista Valli skirt with a feather underlay (I’m making an educated guess) and paired with a white tank. This isn’t bad but it looks unfinished.

Pom Klementieff was in an asymettric Schiaparelli that retails for £13,000! I am learning how to sew for this reason, not that I could pull this look off. I like it better with the jacket in the listing.

Bonus Simon Pegg, Esai Morales and Greg Tarzan Davis.

Tom has a good colorist. His hair doesn’t look monochrome like most men who dye their hair. Esai Morales is still hot, looks great with his natural hair color.

  2. Jais says:

Okay, I’m liking this on Angela! The color looks great and feels perfect for Cannes. A very cool vibe. She’s a stunner. Hannah’s dress was also interesting.

  3. Nicole says:

Esai Morales ages like fine wine. Dayum.

  4. BlueSky says:

Every time I see the Cannes Film Festival I’m reminded of the time I got to see Cannes in 2023. The festival had wrapped and I could not believe how small the steps were. All the high end designer stores are across the street.

  5. Amy Bee says:

Angela looks fabulous and Esai is HOT.

  6. North of Boston says:

AB looks fantastic! I love everything about her look.

The only look I don’t really care for is Cruise’s, though that may just be his general ick factor coming through

  7. ThatGirlThere says:

Angela looks fantastic & I love Hannah’s dress. Esai is a Trumpster so I’m all set with that one.

  8. Mel says:

Angela and Hannah out here looking like QUEENS and Esai Morales is STILL foine.
