The latest ‘Brigitte Macron humiliated her husband’ video is a nothingburger

As I mentioned in yesterday’s “state visit” coverage, France’s President Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron are being heavily monitored by the British media during their visit to the UK. The Macrons had barely walked off the plane before the Daily Mail had a headline and a top story about Brigitte “humiliating” her husband yet again. I mean, it’s not like these stories are being plucked out of thin air – back in May, the Macrons made international headlines when there was a video of Brigitte shoving her husband’s face just before they disembarked from a plane for a state visit. The British papers would love nothing more than to have something similar happen on British soil. But once I saw Tuesday’s big “humiliation,” I really think they’re making a mountain out of a molehill.

You guys… this is insane, right? Pres. Macron waited with one arm outstretched in case Brigitte wanted to take his hand, but she navigated the steps by bracing herself on the railing, and that was it. She didn’t “snub” her husband, she walked down some steps the correct way! It would have been super-awkward if she had taken her husband’s hand. Jeez. He was trying to be helpful and polite to his wife. That was it. Like… I believe that Macrons have a really dysfunctional relationship, but I feel sorry for them when their movements are analyzed to this degree.

Well, now that we know they can analyze body language in the UK, someone have them do the Waleses.

She’s smiling at him and literally saying she’s OK.
The slap was bizarre, this is nothing.

  3. HE WAS BEING HELPFUL!! Unlike the future British heir who does nothing to help his sickly beloved wife but sure let’s find something anything to take away the crap the heir and his wife do.

Exactly! There’s a video from yesterday with Kate trying to get to the carriage and William didn’t lift a finger to help his cancer stricken, fragile wife..but no, let’s concentrate on another couple to deflect..

    I like the colour palettes.

Brigitte looks almost full figured here compared to usual.

  5. ELX says:

How many times has Bill walked off and left Kate to fend for herself?

  6. Becks1 says:

yeah, she looked at him and smiled, not a snub at all. he offered to help her, she let him know she was fine (and probably didnt want to switch hands or anything on the steps) and that’s that.

Let’s show the video of William and Kate getting off a plane in Norway when she was heavily pregnant!!

She didn’t have a free hand to take his. She held the railing in one hand & her clutch purse in the other. I don’t see a snub here.

  8. MaisiesMom says:

It actually annoys me that they are trying to make something out of this. Not only is it silly in this case (of course she didn’t snub him), but it diminishes the seriousness of the previous incident which was genuinely alarming and hinted at the inherent abuse in their relationship.

  9. Aimee says:

This walk down the steps was nothing but that video from May was definitely something.

  10. therese says:

That could happen to anybody. The shoving in the face, not so much.

Keep in mind that right-wing tabloids have it in for Macron.
