John Oliver, Seth Meyers & many more came out to support Stephen Colbert

One of the few things I like about the current late-night talk show landscape is that all of the hosts seem very supportive of one another. It wasn’t that way 20 years ago – David Letterman and Jay Leno’s hatred for each other gave everything a nasty, unsettled edge. Letterman would have rather swallowed bees than show any kind of support for Leno, and Leno screwed over Conan O’Brien and Letterman in such major ways. But last night, for the taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, many of Colbert’s “late-night competitors” came out to support him after Colbert was fired by CBS last week. The only one missing is Jimmy Kimmel, I think, and that’s probably because Kimmel is LA-based. Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper and Adam Sandler all came out for the taping and to do a bit based on the Coldplay-affair couple. Weird Al & Lin-Manuel Miranda got it all started:

Colbert really plans to go for Paramount/CBS’s throats in his remaining time as The Late Show’s host. That cartoon of Donald Trump embracing “Paramount” cannot have been approved by the network. But hey, that’s what they get. I wouldn’t be shocked if CBS tried to find a way to get Colbert off the air before May 2026, the pre-announced end date. Colbert is simply going to spend the next ten months ripping Paramount/CBS a new one as often as possible. As he should, honestly.

Colbert also had a message for Trump: “go f–k yourself.”

  1. This is going to be a great 10 months!!! Filled with stuff that trump and all who kneel will never forget!! I’m sad it’s going to end but let’s love the 10 months that are left!!

    Absolutely savage!!

  3. chantale says:

I doubt they will cancel him. I would be surprise because the next 10 months will be great ratings even if Colbert put his heels on the executive team’ necks.

Maybe, but the fact that they capitulated to that orange asshat at all shows just how spineless & money-grubbing they truly are (shocking for a media corporation, I know, but still…). I hope someone like HBO scoops him up, along with his writing team, so he/they doesn’t have to work for a shitty corporation like that ever again.

Firing Colbert was clearly part of the settlement with Trump.

My fervent wish is that he goes so hard and savagely and ends up really moving the needle for this country as a result. Fvck Trvmp!

  5. Osty says:

    This was so amazing 👏

  6. Brassy Rebel says:

Honestly, the only surprising thing about this is they are giving him ten more months to skewer them and Trump. It’s like they really didn’t think this thing through.

CBS has a feedback form on its website. I encourage anyone who supports Colbert to let them know

I said this over on the John Oliver post earlier, but it’s worth noting here that Colbert will absolutely eviscerate Donny and his clowns. I mean, he kicked off his cancelation with telling Trump to GFY, so the administration better buckle up. Seriously, out of all the late night hosts, Colbert is especially equipped to shred those idiots. I cannot wait!!!!!!!!

  9. olliesmom says:

The next ten months will be the show that Colbert has always wanted to do. It’s going to be so fun.

  10. phlyfiremama says:

This may actually be the best thing ever. Maybe the network is keeping a lid on Colbert until the deal goes thru, and they will let him continue on his rightful criticism of this utterly corrupt administration. Later, they say public demand MADE them keep Colbert!! Haha and maybe chump isn’t lying. 🤣🤣🤣

  11. Rhochelle says:

I just want to say I love Stephen Colbert and hope after these ten months he is back on the tube in another show!!!!
