Nicole Kidman applied for residency in Portugal, she’s looking for a vacation home

In interviews, Nicole Kidman tends to overemphasize her lowkey life in Nashville, where she and Keith Urban are mostly based and where they’re raising their daughters. I think Nicole spends a lot of time in Nashville, but she owns many other homes. At least one place (maybe more) in Australia. I think she probably has a home in LA, and possibly London too. But this is the first I’m hearing about Nicole owning a home in Lisbon, Portugal? It looks like that’s not her only Portuguese property – she’s looking to buy a vacation home in the same coastal development as Princess Eugenie, Jack Brooksbank and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Not only that, Nicole is applying for Portuguese residency.

Nicole Kidman is on the hunt for a permanent Euro escape, The Post can confirm. The Oscar-winning actress, 58, has applied for residency in Portugal — hinting that she will be looking to spend more time in the sunny country. The “Babygirl” actress submitted her paperwork to the country’s Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum earlier this week, according to local media outlet SIC Notícias.

Kidman, who was seen stepping out of a private jet in Cascais — a wealthy seaside enclave just outside of Lisbon — has reportedly been browsing for a lavish pad in one of Portugal’s most exclusive gated communities. But notably absent from her application was husband Keith Urban, whose name did not appear on any documents. However, The Post understands that the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer, 57, wasn’t mentioned in any paperwork because he was unable to break away from touring at the time.

“Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the US and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa,” a source with knowledge of the situation exclusively told The Post. “He is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule. While Nicole and Keith own a home in Portugal, their primary residence will continue to be in Nashville.”

Kidman is said to be eyeing up a property at the celeb-loved, 722-acre CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club — a plush development about 81 miles south of Lisbon. The luxury development is known favorite among the Hollywood elite, including George Clooney and Paris Hilton, and is also a base for royal family member Princess Eugenie. It is also where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were rumored to have purchased a property last year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were said to have splashed out on one of 300 soon-to-be constructed residences belonging to the luxe complex, reportedly costing them more than $4.7 million.

CostaTerra is part of Discovery Land Company, an enterprise founded by Mike Meldman, who, along with George Clooney, invested in the billion-dollar tequila company, Casamigos. And while Urban didn’t file any documents on his part, The Post can confirm that he and the “Eyes Wide Shut” actress already own a plush pad in Lisbon.

It sounds like Nicole is one of those celebrities of means who is looking to get the f–k out of the United States, quite honestly. I just looked up the ages of her daughters… Sunday is 17, Faith is 14. A difficult moment to just pack up and move to another country, but this feels more like a “just in case everything really goes to hell” move. The fact that so many people are buying “vacation homes” in Portugal is a good cover for a lot of “when the sh-t hits the fan” emergency plans.

IIRC Madonna led the charge to Portugal years ago for tax reasons. It must be a really great tax break for so many celebrities to get a home there despite climate change threatening all of southern Europe. Portugal is gorgeous so it seems like a no-brainer addition to the property portfolio for someone of Kidman’s means, and I doubt she’s taking her teenage daughters out of school, it’s probably just an investment for now

Unfortunately, not so good for the locals. The prices on housing are causing major problems for the Portuguese who can’t afford buying or renting a house. It’s absurd.
I would love for all foreigners to just leave. Don’t take me the wrong way, but I want to be able to live and have a home in my own country.

She is buying in a luxury gated community for the really wealthy. Hardly taking away affordable housing from you.

Given the location I doubt they planned to build houses for the middle class on this gorgeous beach, rather ugly hotels, resorts, or apartments (time sharing or Airnb). The latter, Airnb and holiday apartments, are the real problem. As long as landlords rather rent to tourists for a much higher price, the average Portugese will have trouble finding an affordable apartment.

I sympathise with you, housing is a real problem in tourist areas and cities.

She lives in Tennessee supposedly. There is no better tax haven than my back’erds state. We have one of the highest sales tax rates in the entire country, but no form of income tax. The poorest citizens pay an unfair percentage of the taxes here and they pay it on essential items like gas and food. Portugal is lovely, I don’t blame her for wanting options outside this country in the current political climate.

Was it even confirmed that Meghan and Harry bought a property in Portugal? Rich, white people like Nicole and her husband live in a bubble are not affected by the Trump Administration so I’m not buying that she’s applying for residency in Portugal because of this. I think this is being done for tax purposes.

    • Gail says:

She has two daughters whose bodily autonomy and rights are being stripped by this current government. If I had daughters and the means, I’d get them out of the states now, too. The girls are not safe.

      • Amy Bee says:

Unlike regular people she has the means for her and her daughters to jump on a private jet and fly to NY or California to safeguard their body autonomy and rights.

  4. Jan says:

A friend just got back from Portugal, the family loved it.
The waiter at the hotel told her he can walk for 30 minutes and not heard one word of Portuguese, they love tourists, but they’re too many, and their infrastructure, can’t handle, so many people.

  5. Desdemona says:

No, hotels and restaurants yes, they love tourists. The rest of the population not so much, but we’re polite and well-mannered.
