Paris Hilton’s latest hustle is a Global Ambassadorship for Paul Mitchell hair products. It’s a “Luxe-Meets-Playful” themed campaign. This week, Paris hit the ground running, chatting about her hair care routine and spilling the beans about a behind-the-scenes story regarding an old hair-do. Remember back in the early 2000s when Paris suddenly debuted that bob haircut? Well, apparently, she didn’t mean to do that. There is a whole story behind how that haircut came about, and tl;dr, she was too busy playing on her phone to notice that her hair was getting completely chopped off.
Her accidental pixie cut: “I was not paying attention, just like on my phone and then I looked up and I had like long hair all the way down to my waist at this point, and I looked up and he had cut my hair all the way to my ears,” Hilton shares, revealing she was taken aback by the drastic chop. “I was so in shock and I looked in the mirror and I didn’t know what to say. He’s like ‘Do you like it?’ And I went to the bathroom and called my sister crying.”
From pixie lemons to a bob lemonade: “I got extensions to make it like a cute bob, and I liked it, but that was yeah, that was not done purposely,” she tells Us. “Then it became a trend, and everyone started cutting their hair. So, I was like, ‘OK.’”
Giving her hair a little TLC: “My advice would be to always make sure to deep condition your hair, especially now I work basically almost every single day, so I’m constantly getting my hair styled all the time. So, it’s really important to use amazing products.”
Paul Mitchell X Paris Hilton: In an epic, year-long beauty takeover spanning digital, in-store and social media platforms, Paul Mitchell X Paris Hilton will celebrate two iconic brands in one epic collab, sliving together to serve fresh looks and elevated style.
She loves all the products: “That’s why I love all the Paul Mitchell products, using the deep conditioners and just using the different sprays that they have, texturizing spray, and just taking care of my hair,” she adds.
The effects of hair extensions: “Back in the day, everyone was wearing those extensions, which are just so hard on your hair,” Hilton says. “So, it’s just really important to take care of your hair, because it’s delicate.”
I had vague memories of Paris’ Short Hair Era, so I went back and looked at pictures of her bob. I thought she looked great with shorter hair. She’s done the long hair and the high-pony tail thing for a long time, but I honestly think that a shorter/shoulder-length cut is the way to go. I’d love to see her adapt that style again. That said, I have no idea how she could be sitting in the chair and not realize that her hairdresser was cutting off so much hair! She didn’t look up once as they cut her hair from waist-length to pixie? That is a whole other level of not paying attention.
I too have a similar experience of a haircut-gone-wrong. At the start of last year, I gave in to my periodical bob desire. It was my third visit to a new hairstylist who up until then, had done a great job with both my cut and color. At one point, though, I could tell that she’d messed up and had to keep going shorter in order to even it all out. It ended up being several inches shorter, and an entirely different haircut than I’d asked for. It was BAD. Unlike Paris, I was paying attention (in horror) and did not have the option to add extensions to make it longer. It’s taken until this summer to really start to look right again.

I do not believe that a stylist would do such a drastically change to a celebrity without talking about it! Also, she looked cute in the short cut.
I’ve never not had a discussion before they started cutting my hair.
It’s a good story but I have doubts.
I’d bet money on her still wearing hair extensions. She’s obviously not gonna admit that when she’s promoting her new haircare line but I highly doubt that’s all her own hair.
I ALWAYS have PM Leave In Conditioner in my cabinet. When I need/want a fast shower and don’t want to condition whilst actually in the shower PMLIC is my go to. When I don’t have big $$ will just buy the on sale shampoo, PMLIC is the saviour. Buying both shampoo and conditioner from PM is big bucks, but a cheap shampoo with a good conditioner is, for me, a good investment. In a pinch, PMLIC can also be used as a skin conditioner. I think the conditioner is a great product. The rest of the line is a little pricy for regular use, not just in my opinion, but in the reality of my budget.
I chopped off my long hair last year. It felt so good! My hair is very thick so when it’s long, it’s a tangly nightmare to deal with. Except my son said sadly that I’d always had long hair since he could remember so I could I grow it again? sigh.
I cut my nearly waist-length hair to shoulder-length a couple weeks ago, because my expensive stylist friend offered to “fix” the damage as a birthday gift. Sounded like a great deal, so I told him to do what he needed to do to rescue it. I had no idea it would be THAT drastic, and it’s definitely taken some getting used to, but I’m kinda obsessed with it now! It’s so soft and bouncy and it takes a lot of restraint to pass a mirror with looking in it and giving my hair a toss, lol.
IDK if paul mitchell still makes the tea tree brand (it doesn’t have his name on it anymore, but I assume so?), but the tea tree moisturizing conditioner is the holy grail for me. I have very long, very thick, but very fine hair that gets super duper tangled. This conditioner in the shower and then the tea tree moisturizing leave-in when I get out.
I fell asleep in the chair (I was medicated at the time due to a long term illness and those darn meds would make me nod off like a heroin addict) and no lie that woman cut bangs into my almost waist length hair. She thought it would be a nice pick me up, change of pace. I was until that point a regular 2-3 year long client. But yeah, last visit!
