The Toronto International Film Festival started last week, and I forgot that Angelina Jolie would be there this weekend. Jolie is currently filming Anxious People in London, but she got a few days off to premiere Couture at TIFF. This is something she filmed late last year in Paris – she plays a filmmaker who took a job at Paris Fashion Week for the money, but she’s dealing with multiple crises, including a health crisis. Early TIFF reviews are saying that Angelina is very good in the movie, and it’s a thoughtful, interesting film.

As for Jolie’s styling… I’m sad to report that her blonde bob for Anxious People is just a wig. Angelina’s hair was back to “normal” for TIFF – she’s been doing variations of an ashy caramel-blonde for more than a year. I honestly wonder if this is part of a subtle rebrand, like she’s really trying to lighten up in many ways and her hair is a reflection of that. Jolie’s trench coat at the premiere was Gabriela Hearst, who is Jolie’s personal friend. She also wore Cartier jewels.

Angelina spoke to Variety, saying that Couture felt like “such a personal film. It felt so private that in my mind, it’s probably the one film that doesn’t feel like a film.” Angelina wore one of her mother’s necklaces during filming, and it basically sounds like this role was written for her and partially based on Angelina’s real story.
