Did y’all know that Heather Graham and Heath Ledger were a thing in the early 2000s? I had completely forgotten about that bit of ancient gossip, but looking through pictures jogged my memory. They met in the Czech Republic while he was filming A Knight’s Tale and she was making From Hell and dated from fall 2000 until mid-2001.
Heather was on Kristin Davis’ Sex and the City rewatch podcast this week to talk about her favorite episode, season two’s Ex and the City. It’s the one where Carrie famously quotes, ”Your girl is lovely, Hubbell” from The Way We Were. At one point, Kristin told Heather about the time she spotted her with Heath at a coffee shop in LA. It was in the early days of SATC, so the newly-famous Kristin promptly started fan-girling out. The story brought up some fond, wistful memories for Heather.
Graham, 55, joined Kristin Davis‘ Are You a Charlotte? podcast, where the host, 60, asked about her past romance with the Australian actor — since Davis has an anecdote that directly relates to the past relationship, as Us Weekly noted.
“I think I was at a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, possibly on Sunset Blvd., and I think you were there,” Kristin told Graham in the podcast episode published on Monday, Oct. 13. “And I think you were there with Heath Ledger.”
“Yes, I dated him,” Graham replies. “I think we might’ve watched [your show Sex and the City] together, and I think he actually really liked it.”
The Boogie Nights actress adds that she is “proud” that she dated him, saying, “I was very in love with him when we dated. He’s kinda amazing.”
Graham continues, “I wish he was still alive. That would be nice. Some of these really bright lights don’t get to live so long.”
Ledger and Graham dated between 2000 and 2001 after reportedly meeting in Prague, Us Weekly reports, when Ledger was filming A Knight’s Tale and Graham was shooting From Hell.
I listened to their entire conversation, and you can tell that Heather was speaking from the heart when she talked about how much she loved Heath and how he was an amazing person. Having spent some time looking through old pictures of them, they were clearly hot together and hot for each other. Or, as we used to say back in my day, they were “hott” together.
Heather also mentioned that she has a lot of good pictures from when they were dating. While she’s shared a few on Instagram before, she didn’t want to put too many out there without getting permission from his family first, which is really respectful. Oh, and to be fair to Kristin, I too would have been internally freaking out if I had seen Heath and Heather being all touchy feely in a coffee shop. I mean, can you even imagine?! Also, I can’t believe that it’s only been 17 years since Heath died. It feels like so much longer for some reason. Sometimes I think about him and Philip Seymour Hoffman and what they could have achieved if they were still alive.

omg a story about Heather Graham? what a blast from the past, to be reminded of her existence. I just had a look at her filmography and was surprised at how steadily she’s been working, starring in movies I have never heard of and doing guest bits on TV. good for her.
lovely little anecdote about Heath. I can’t believe how long he’s been gone either. still feels like yesterday.
I mean… weren’t we all? He is the only celebrity I cried over. What a loss and what a waste.
When I think of Heath being part of a couple, I always think of Naomi Watts, even more than I think of him and Michelle for some reason. I didn’t even know he dated Heather Graham.
Him…River…Phillip…I will NEVA get ova 💔🥀
That’s sweet. it’s nice of her to think of his family before putting out pictures of them
Rose Byrne was recently on Conan O’Brien and she also spoke so kindly about Heath. I think their relationship was strictly plutonic but he really seemed to help her get her foot in the door in Hollywood.
