Pope Leo XIV – aka Pope Bob – has been making some interesting moves since he became the first-ever American-born pope. Did you know that Pope Bob is a Virgo? His birthday is September 14, one day before Prince Harry’s birthday. Well, Bob will meet with Harry’s father next week, in what sounds like a major moment for the Anglican church (Church of England) and the papacy.
King Charles is set to make history during his state visit to the Vatican, becoming the first British monarch since the Reformation to pray at a public service with the Pope. The Supreme Governor of the Church of England will join Pope Leo XIV, head of the Catholic Church, to pray during an ecumenical service in the famous Sistine Chapel, a symbolic moment of the continuing dialogue between their two churches.
The two-day visit to the Holy See, the government of the Roman Catholic Church in the Vatican, is understood to be deeply significant for the King, who will also celebrate the Papal Jubilee, an event held every 25 years.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said about the trip planned for next Wednesday and Thursday with the Queen: “The visit will mark Their Majesties’ first meeting with Pope Leo XIV since his election in May 2025. The visit will also mark a significant moment in relations between the Catholic Church and Church of England, of which His Majesty is Supreme Governor, recognising the ecumenical work they have undertaken and reflecting the Jubilee year’s theme of walking together as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.”
“This will be the first state visit, since the Reformation, where the Pope and the Monarch will pray together in an ecumenical service in the Sistine Chapel, and the first time the monarch will have attended a service in St Paul’s Outside the Walls, a church with a historic connection to the English Crown.”
Charles is also being recognised for the British monarchy’s historic association with the Papal Basilica of St Paul’s Outside the Walls in Rome, the seat of a Benedictine Abbey, and will be made “Royal Confrater” of the abbey. In centuries past, monarchs provided for the upkeep of the tomb of St Peter, the first pontiff, at the basilica.
King Henry VIII famously broke ties with Rome and established the Church of England, and during the following centuries, relations between the English state and the papacy were marked by “mutual distrust”, said a Church of England spokesperson.
Henry VIII wanted to get divorced and the Vatican wouldn’t let him, that’s what’s going unsaid. Henry VIII also wanted all of the Catholic Church’s land in England, which was a huge bonus of breaking with the church. Anyway, I find it interesting that they’re making this all about Charles and Bob, even though Camilla will apparently be there too. Charles and Camilla have been been divorced, they’re both adulterers and neither has lived a decent, family-oriented or faithful life. But Charles really wants to cozy up to the Vatican for some reason. He’s always been like this.
In other Pope Bob news, there’s a lot of gossip around Spain and Vatican City that he’s going to break up Opus Dei. Pope Francis was not a fan of Opus Dei either, and Francis made some moves to limit Opus Dei and defang their power within the church. The gossip is that Bob will take further steps to “effectively dismantle” the ultra-right Catholic sect.

He seems to speak his mind so maybe he will have some strong words for the immoral couple coming for a visit!
Exactly. It’s a church founded on divorce. I don’t mean that pejoratively. It’s as valid a basis as any right? But Charles and Cam aren’t Catholic and divorce isn’t among their many sins of human decency.
I thought the horse was Catholic? No?
Ooh, I had to Google that. I didn’t think a Catholic could marry into the monarchy. Nope. Andrew is catholic as are her children, but she never converted (wonder why, eh?)
I’m all for the dismantling of Opus Dei, it needs to happen.
agreed
Apparently JD Vance is a member of Opus Dei. Anyway, Charles and Camilla don’t have to worry about William and Kate overshadowing them. It’s half-term next week.
Leonard Leo, Kevin Roberts and quite a few others MAGATs have ties to Opus Dei too.
It can’t be dismantled soon enough.
Adding in Amy Coney Barrett. JFC this is grim.
Of course he would be. He is just a creep who wants power and that group has way too many links to the upper echelons of power in the U.S.
Pope Leo shutting down Opus Dei is necessary.
As a recovering Catholic, Pope Bob is really starting to grow on me. I never thought the Church would reform its ways while America became a steaming pile of 💩.
Also a recovering catholic and I like what Pope Leo is doing. It’s a very good start but still a long way to go.
I agree. As a former Catholic, I’m cautiously optimistic about where he wants to take the church.
One royal watcher opined long ago that Diana & Charles would have presented a classic & compelling case of annulment had they been Catholic. Wise words.
That’s the thing, divorce in and of itself is not a bad thing. It’s sad, but divorce is actually much better for all involved than a toxic marriage. Charles’s crimes against Diana began before they were even married. Divorce freed Diana.
LOL best title ever for this article.
The title of this article had me HOWLING! So good.
Just want to point out that the King is not the head of the Church of England. His job is to step up temporarily when required. It is only ever for single decisions, not actually decision making
Charles keeps using his privilege to confer/socialize with whoever is pope – like as if Leo was a high school class president or something. Francis was on his deathbed and Charles wouldn’t take no for an answer. Even if you have incurable cancer it doesn’t mean that you’re entitled to frequent audiences with the pope.
🎯 on Opus Dei.
