I’m a recovering Sydney Sweeney apologist at this point. I used to like her and defend her, but no more. She’s messy, dumb and Republican. I will say one thing though… it’s fascinating to see an under-30 actress who is THIS chaotic with her image and personal brand. While Sydney isn’t falling out of nightclubs or channeling Linday Lohan, there’s a carelessness to the way she’s been moving around this year. The biggest example, for me, is Sydney’s relationship with Scooter Braun. Braun is 44 years old, divorced and rich. He’s also up to his ass in personal and professional drama, having made enemies with some very famous and powerful artists (Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber). Someone like Scooter Braun should be shooed away by Sydney’s management team and close girlfriends. But that’s not what has happened. Scooter and Sydney have been rolling out their relationship for months now, posing for paparazzi photos at Central Park and dropping exclusives into People Magazine. For example:

Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun’s romance is continuing to heat up. Just three months after the Housemaid actress and the music executive were first linked, a source tells PEOPLE the pair’s connection has deepened.

“Scooter and Sydney are going strong and things between them are great,” the source says. “They’re in a committed relationship and things are serious.”

The update comes after the couple has been spotted together multiple times throughout the fall and into the holiday season. Earlier this month, Sweeney, 28, and Braun, 44, were photographed sharing a kiss as they sat on a large rock in New York City’s Central Park.

According to a second source, their bond hasn’t wavered as the relationship continues to progress. “Scooter and Sydney are still going strong,” the source says.

They’ve also been spotted enjoying multiple date nights out from Los Angeles to New York. After the pair were spotted holding hands in Los Angeles on Sept. 30, a source said Sweeney and Braun “have a lot in common and neither one of them cares what others think.”

The pair’s romance first made headlines in early September, after a source told PEOPLE that Sweeney and Braun were “casually” seeing each other, noting that they were both guests at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s June wedding in Italy.

Just… why? Why all of this for that guy? And don’t even come at me with “maybe Scooter treats Sydney like a queen.” While I obviously don’t know what he’s really like, I imagine his ex-wife has some stories to tell. Between Scooter and her ex-fiance Jonathan Davino, it really does seem like she has a type though: older men who are total sketchballs.
