Princess Kate is apparently ‘putting together mood-boards’ for Forest Lodge

After the Prince and Princess of Wales played their “crucial roles” as airport greeters yesterday, they delivered Germany’s President Steinmeier and his wife to Windsor Castle. There was some kind of procession and carriage ride, and then the Windsors and the Germans went inside the castle. This is a common thing for state visits: the Windsors show their guests various art pieces and historical items with an association to their visitors’ home country. William and Kate were invited to take part in that event as well, and there are tons of photos of Kate preening in her black Burberry dress, with her newly long, pin-straight hair. In fact, everyone is seemingly in awe of how drastically different Kate’s hair looks from week to week. Suddenly, her hair is almost all the way down her back and there are absolutely no curls. Princess magic!

Meanwhile, it’s been known for years that Will and Kate suck at small talk and they’re both very dull conversationalists. Usually, their fallback position is just to talk about their kids and claim that their kids will be super-jealous of whatever is happening. “George will be so jealous of this, he really wanted to meet Germany’s elected head of state!” Or perhaps: “Charlotte is learning German!” But now Will and Kate have something new to chatter about: their manor home, Forest Lodge, which Kate is apparently decorating herself. The German First Lady asked her about it.

Kate Middleton is creating “mood boards” for her new home. The Princess of Wales, 43, discussed her family’s recent move as she and Prince William welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and first lady Elke Büdenbender for an official state visit on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling examined the footage of the diplomatic greeting on behalf of Betfair Casino, revealing that Princess Kate and the first lady discussed the Wales family’s recent move to Forest Lodge in Windsor.

“It’s wonderful to hear you have moved into a new home together,” Büdenbender said after the foursome had shaken hands, according to Hickling.

Prince William, Princess Kate and their children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — moved into Forest Lodge during the kids’ half-term break from school in October and have been settling in as the holiday season begins. Kate famously decorated their family’s previous royal residences at Adelaide Cottage, Nottingham Cottage, Anmer Hall and Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace — sometimes undertaking large-scale renovations. She shared with Büdenbender that plans are underway for Forest Lodge.

“We are putting together some mood boards for the room, and we will start after Christmas,” she told the first lady, according to the lip reader.

“Can you send me pictures when they’re done? I’d love to see the outcome,” the first lady asked, to which Kate agreed with a smile.

Prince William was a bit more practical about the recent changes, admitting to the president that “the house move has been rather challenging with elements of twists, but we’re tackling it.”

Mood boards? I bet. This isn’t even the first time Kate has used mood boards, just my guess. For years, we’ve said that Kate has Meghan mood-boards to style-stalk her sister-in-law. I wonder if Kate’s interior design mood-boards include some photos from Montecito. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

  1. Mood boards? Who will she be copying? Will she have watched WLM and copy the rooms of the rented house Meg uses? However will she ruin a lovely very old mansion?

  2. ThatGirlThere says:

Mood boards and pin straight hair…who could KKKate be stalking, I mean be “inspired” by?

    Lord, is she lazy.

  3. Sunniside up says:

Diamond and sapphire ear rings with pearls!

    • CL says:

      It’s overkill!

    • Kim says:

Seriously….not a fan of mixing different jewels so yeah the mix of the pearls and the sapphire/diamond earrings are a huge no. I don’t even like to mix metals unless it’s done well, and thoughtfully – which we know she would never be able to do – so the gold in her belt/at her waist is throwing me off with the cool tones in the earrings. For me this is a mess.

Well the best detail is the reminder that “Kate famously decorated their family’s previous royal residences at Adelaide Cottage, Nottingham Cottage, Anmer Hall and Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace — sometimes undertaking large-scale renovations.” Nice reminder of alllll the grand houses they own. And now she’s onto her 5th large-scale reno and decoration extravaganza. But no grand gestures for Christmas right? Just for decorating the many houses.

    • Sunniside up says:

The image of Kate with a bucket of water and a large brush slapping water on the wall to get the old wallpaper off doesn’t quite ring true.

    • Dee(2) says:

HA! I thought the same thing, they’re really good with the passive-aggressiveness aren’t they? They can just call them out directly for it. It’s hardly like they’re going to lose a ton of access for people who barely show up anywhere.

Also, if this is the typical conversations that they have while doing these events it sounds like a particular sort of hell to me. Just so banal.

    • Becks1 says:

that list of “previous royal residences” is definitely a passive aggressive dig.

  5. Happy Peregrine says:

God I hope these are just Pinterest boards and not real physical boards. Thst seems exhausting otherwise 😂

  6. Hypocrisy says:

She has a Meghan room I am sure of it, that is what all her “mood boards” are about.

  7. Katiekatekate says:

I have hypermobility. (I only learned about this about a year ago, but that’s another story.) The hypermobile joints in my neck and back means I have various physical problems, up to and including that I hate having longer hair, because it physically hurts me to carry all of that around. I’m saying this as a personal caveat in case other people don’t have this kind of problems with heavy and long hair but: how on earth does Kate handle having a huge amount hair (wig or real with extensions) and something like last night’s huge tiara without being in constant physical pain or just falling over from the weight of it all? She looks like she might fall over from a stiff breeze as it is.

    • Goldenmom says:

Maybe that’s why her head is cocked at such an uncomfortable looking angle in each picture…the wigs and falls are pulling her head over to the side.

  8. Harla says:

Wait, what? They’re decorating after they move in, why? Why wasn’t this done before the move, it seems inconvenient to be painting, hanging wallpaper, etc in a space that you’ve already moved furniture into.

    • I thought they were decorating too before the move in and isn’t that why Can’t missed some events because she was busy with move in and decorating?

      • Blujfly says:

I’m sure they are going to add on to it. Probably another conservatory like an Anmer. And I suspect that for Kate the renovations and decorations and redecorations never end. I would be shocked if the children’s rooms at KP haven’t been redone event thought they don’t live there. She has a Beatrix Potter, etc. in the nursery.

    • Betsy says:

      That’s what servants are for!

    • Becks1 says:

I thought that was why she missed Earthshot. now they’re not starting until after christmas?

      Something is off here.

Also I’m laughing that the German FL asked them about it. I’m sure there is a list of various life updates or safe topics to discuss at events like this and I bet this was the only one for W&K.

What does williams comment about “challenging with elements of twists” mean?? Is the twist that they had to take the 150 acres and then close a childrens center?

  9. SarahCS says:

What is that thing on her head?

    • lamejudi says:

      Those extensions look terrible.

Even if that was all of her own hair, I’d still say it looks awful and needs a good cut and a specific style other than “long.”

  10. Eurydice says:

Oh dear. If I remember correctly, the German First Lady is an attorney and was a judge on the federal administrative court. And she’s chatting to Kate about mood boards and “please send me photos”?

  11. Amy Bee says:

Is this even true? These lip readers have a tendency to make up things. I would’ve thought that Kate already decorated the house before moving in. It’s not like she’s doing anything else.

  12. IdlesAtCranky says:

Ok, so a conversation reported by a … “lip-reading expert” ?!? My lord, can these “journalists” get any more pathetic?

Meanwhile, I’m just laughing because Keen is going to a lot of trouble to make it clear to us that she is NOT wearing pearls she snatched off QEII’s neck before they closed her coffin. That five-strand pearl collar on such a plain day dress just looks silly, IMO

    • Harla says:

I think a pearl choker with large, modern pearls would have looked better, and the earrings would need to be changed as well. Wow, Kate’s styling has really gone even farther down hill since Natasha left.

  13. vs says:

I cannot imagine anyone having a conversation with Kate Middleton… the woman is absolutely dumb

  14. KC says:

She’s the overly earnest suckup teachers have to endure, down to the head tilt and wide eyed look. I can just hear her mom’s advice of how to create an engaging conversation rattling around in the empty head of hers.

  15. Nerd says:

I could have sworn that the media has said multiple times that this move has been in the works for months, that she had already been decorating and furniture shopping for the move already and that they moved in sooner than earlier planned, so why then did they move in earlier if the home wasn’t ready and there is still work and decoration that still needs to be done? And were they lying when they said she couldn’t attend ES with Will or do other engagements because of the necessary move that couldn’t wait until after ES or the holidays when the children will again be on break? Also am I the only one who thought it strange that the First Lady congratulated them on moving into their new home “together” as if them moving together as a couple wasn’t a given?
I also had to laugh at the photo of Kate and her long straight haired twin next to William and how it reminded me of an 80s band reunion.

  16. Sharon says:

The hair length is getting ridiculous, but she does come across as much happier these days. Guess when you get a new estate and take 150 acres of parkland away from the public, it can give a girl a lift.

  17. VilleRose says:

We can so clearly see her extensions here right? I’m not hallucinating? Her hair is not naturally this thick or long. It’s fine to use them but by straightening her hair so stick thin her extensions are incredibly obvious.

As for redecorating Forest Lodge, that isn’t exactly groundbreaking news either. That’s what people usually do when they move into a new space. But this article does point out the number of homes the Waleses have lived in and redecorated lol, I love the subtle shade.

    • Nic919 says:

The front part of her head is a darker brown than the back. Real hair doesn’t look like that even with highlights growing out.

  18. Me at home says:

I thought royal women weren’t allowed to wear black because black was reserved for funerals? Also, did she change before touring the exhibit, because I remember reading that she had a plaid dress on underneath her blue coat at the airport, but maybe that was wrong.

  19. QuiteContrary says:

“The house move has been rather challenging with elements of twists, but we’re tackling it,” says Will.

What the hell is that word salad? Elements of twists?

Also, that pampered idiot doesn’t know the meaning of the word “challenging.”

    • seaflower says:

The twist is Royal Lodge will suddenly be available next year and he has to work out how long is reasonable before they move into the next forever home.

    • Smatone99 says:

This is utterly made up. It’s a nonsensical convo when first meeting. And the first lady wants pics? Please! 🙄🤣

  20. Patricia says:

“It’s so nice that they’re moving in together “ lol . Some gossip has made its way to Germany from England .
