Bill Hader & Ali Wong broke up after nearly three years of dating

Before Bill Hader started dating Ali Wong, he was with Rachel Bilson. After their split, Rachel was a tad indiscreet, but very complimentary about Hader’s endowments, if you get my drift. It’s something of a years-long whisper campaign and it’s worked: I totally believe that Bill Hader is secretly a total stud. Still waters run deep. He’s clearly hilarious, sensitive, a wonderful actor and great in bed. Well, pour one out for Ali Wong, because she’s not getting railed by Bill Hader any longer.

Ali Wong and Bill Hader have gone their separate ways, PEOPLE can confirm. Over two years since going public with their relationship in April 2023, the Beef star, 43, and Saturday Night Live alum, 47, have broken up. Reps for the actors did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.

A source tells PEOPLE that the pair struggled to find time together while navigating busy schedules and family obligations. “It was too difficult to make the relationship work with Ali’s upcoming stand up tour and Bill’s various film and tv projects this year,” the insider explains.

Now, “they’re focusing on their work and kids, while continuing to support and root for each other.”

Despite the end of their romantic relationship, things remain “very amicable” for Hader and Wong, the source says: “They are very much friends and still in touch.”

The news comes after fans speculated about relationship trouble early last year when Wong didn’t walk the red carpet with Hader or thank him in her acceptance speech at 2025 Golden Globes in January. Wong beat out Jamie Foxx, Nikki Glaser, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler and Ramy Youssef to take home the best performance in stand-up comedy on television prize for her Netflix special Single Lady. At the time, a representative for Hader told PEOPLE that the couple was still going strong and Hader missed the event due to a health issue.

After Hader skipped last year’s Golden Globes, he attended the Directors Guild Awards with Ali, so they really were fine one year ago. I tend to believe that they just grew apart, and that dating as divorced parents in your 40s is tough. Hader has three daughters from his first marriage, and Ali has two daughters from her first marriage. It’s a lot to juggle on top of thriving careers and travel and everything else.

I love her stand-up. She is so funny, albeit a tad raunchy (I love it but I’m trash, lol). Wishing them both the best in their uncoupling.

I like Bill, there’s something about him Im attracted to. I still have to watch his hit man show on HBO.

I would also imagine (and I feel kind of gross speculating about this but it’s hard to not think about it) that the Reiners’ murder has put Bill in an understandably not great headspace. Obviously he bears NO responsibility, but the fact that the tabloids zeroed in on his conversation with Nick Rainer at Kimmel’s party (and the subsequent paparazzi hounding) worsened what might have been a fragile, tense emotional state. I hope they are both ok.

I really hope there’s a plea deal arranged bc the trial would be a mess. Conan’s party is all celebrity friends and some of them wanted to call 911 that night but Conan stopped them. Let that night stay private.

I thought that too. He’s having a rough few weeks for sure. The paps have been after him because of it all to boot which I’m sure isn’t helping his mental state.
