Soon after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their plans to visit Australia next month, royalists and royal reporters breathlessly announced that there is a Change.org petition about the visit, a petition with thousands of signatures. The petition is strangely worded, and the crux of the deranged temper tantrum is that thousands of Australians are demanding that… no Australian tax dollars be spent on Prince Harry and Meghan’s security or their “tour.” It’s not a tour, but don’t tell that to the British tabloids, who have been speaking of little else. The Daily Mail has run no fewer than a dozen major articles about the petition and how Harry and Meghan might be “forced” into canceling their trip (because that’s the actual objective here). Well, funny story. Harry and Meghan let the stupid f–king petition story fester for a week or so, and now their spokesperson has clapped back on the whole dumbass storyline. The Sussex spox is vexed by these people!!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s team have hit out at claims Australian taxpayers will be paying for their upcoming trip to the country. Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have dismissed a petition signed by more than 34,000 people calling for no public money to be spent on their forthcoming Australian visit.
A spokesman for the couple stated: “The trip is being funded privately, so I’m not sure what this petition hopes to achieve.”
Harry and Meghan’s spokesman also responded by contrasting the numbers signing the new petition with the overall Australian population.
He said: “Of course, if you wanted to dive into the ridiculousness of this petition as an agenda for spreading misinformation, then one could equally hypothesise that there are approximately 26.5 million Australians (99.98 per cent of the population) who haven’t signed it, who must therefore agree with the taxpayer picking up the tab for their visit. Of course, that is another equally stupid assertion to make.”
The Charge.org campaign, titled “No Taxpayer-Funding or Official Support for Harry & Meghan’s Private Visit to Australia,” was launched by advocacy group Beyond Australia ahead of the couple’s arrival next month. Beyond Australia, the group behind the petition has argued that the couple’s activities are commercial in nature and should therefore be handled as an entirely private matter.
[From GB News & The Daily Mail]
GB News was too peeved to publish the Sussex spox’s full statement, luckily the Daily Mail was happy to publish it though. I love the righteous bitchiness here, because the spokesperson is using deranger logic against the derangers. Oh, you mean 99.98% of the population hasn’t signed this dumb petition? That must mean that Australians are overwhelmingly in favor of Harry and Meghan’s visit and Aussies are also fine with paying for whatever security is needed! Incidentally, one of the latest things the derangers are mad about is the fact that Meghan’s girls-retreat weekend is already sold out, and that organizers were super-selective about who got the chance to buy tickets – meaning, no undercover press, no undercover derangers. Now those same people are f–king furious that Harry and Meghan are making fun of their emotional-support petition.
Speaking of, this GB News clip is making the rounds – this is why I’m 100% behind Harry and Meghan giving statements and responses to all of these bullsh-t smears. Because it infuriates the lunatics and derails the billion-dollar hate campaign. These people end up whining about “why did they respond??” BECAUSE YOU MAKE MONEY LYING ABOUT THEM.
‘Why do they have to comment on everything…it is so petty!’

Ha! I love that the spokesperson actually use the words ” equally stupid” because that’s what all of these assertions and whataboutisms when it comes to Harry and Meghan are. And I love they pointed out that one thing doesn’t necessarily guarantee the other, because that seems to be the focal point of all of their tantrums. If we stop Meghan and Harry from getting attention, all the attention will then go to the British royal family instead.
And it’s a bit rich to be upset that someone is responding to a petition that’s being covered in an article that you’re on the news to discuss. They aren’t amplifying it, they didn’t say something the same day. This went on for weeks with numerous articles and they finally said you know what this is stupid. Now you’re mad, because the statement pointed out just how stupid all of your, Australians don’t want them to come!, articles were.
I’m glad to hear that the retreat staff probably did a little background checking and social media snooping before awarding the tickets. And the funny thing is you know that there are people that they had to deny because of shady links. Which in fact just indicates the popularity more of Meghan, that they probably turned away a lot of people without good intentions and still sold out.
All of what you said!
I’m also glad to hear that they did some due diligence to ensure that the tickets weren’t all snapped up by paid harassers and UK media hoping to derail the event in person. I now understand why the phrase “ticket *allocation*” was used, instead of saying that all of the tickets were “sold out” (which they were). Really good way to do it. Let people register their interest, announce that ticket allocation is complete once they realised that they had overwhelming interest, then weed out the troublemakers and assign tickets to people with genuine interest. Hopefully none of the usual suspects got through.
I don’t say “derangers” this time, because we know that they can’t afford anything unless KP or the British media pay them to pretend to be “fans” and lie their arses off about any event related to H+M.
The Sussexes issued a glorious response which makes those complaining look like the fools they are. Private citizens can go where ever they choose. Why do they always respond? To show you how ridiculous and dumb you are.
Yes and of course she couldn’t respond to the fact that it’s privately funded, she had to ask why do they have to respond (to our BS lies)? The royal, semi royal, adjacent royal, ex royal, blue royal, and slapped in the face royal, thrown under bus, in her 30 years of experience covering them never responded LOL hilarious
Didn’t Kate and William just respond to why Kate did not get a mothering card.
And the thing is – they dont always respond!!! we say on here all the time that they should respond more!!! I like this new spokesperson (if they are new) between this and the response to tom bower….more of this please.
And its not petty to point out the absurdity in the reporting. What that person meant was “why wont they just let us lie without correcting us.”
I’m pretty sure this is the British communications person who has been working with them for a while. He seems to understand tabloids and the British media and how to respond. Meredith was good with American media and getting Meghan some high profile interviews but I believe it’s the British comms person, who knows Harry from Invictus, that has been responsible for all the British media clap backs.
@Julia that would make sense. The responses are very targeted towards the British media so I think you’re right.
The “But hey” part of the last sentence about “not letting common sense get in the way of a good story” made me think that this was someone on their American press team. Someone new, trained by Ms Maines? But this is even more direct than she used to be. And witty too. A result of the rekindled relationship with Sunshine Sachs? Much better to mock these stupid reporters out loud and directly, it’s very effective.
Oh dear 99.98 of the Australian population has not signed the “emotional support petition “!!! No taxpayer money was ever going to be used to protect the Sussexes they are privately funded. Will knowing that they are privately funded for this trip stop the stupidity madness? Probably not. The unhinged derangers do not understand logic!
I cheered when I first read the statement yesterday. Good for them for calling this out!
In other news as far as I know 4 squaddies are heading to the retreat and I’m so happy for them!
Same! Zandi is going and she’s one of my favourites. I am really looking forward to her commentary.
Yes and she has a VIP table!! She’s going to get a picture with Meghan!!
The derangers didn’t send around petitions about Andrew and they actually were paying his security when he visited Epstein. For years .
How many of those petition signers were real Australians, as opposed to derangers posting from their kitchens in Iowa? I don’t believe that Change.org can control for that. And how many were unique signatures as opposed to derangers creating multiple accounts to sign multiple times? A quick check suggests change.org checks for repeating IP addresses, but can’t you get around that by logging in from work or Starbucks later in the day?
Anyway, I wonder if the Sussexes waited to respond to see if this petition would pick up any actual steam (and lol, clearly it didn’t).
I think a good number of those signatures came from kitchens in Windsor and Buckleberry or wherever it is that Ma is the countess. Oh right – Forest Lodge bedroom # 5.
I’m glad their spokesperson is responding because they have been too quiet too often trying to take the high road. You can take the high road and tell people to STFU! I hope that Harry and Meghan stay in their “stop fucking with us era” because I love it.
How dare they spoil our deranged plans by clapping back? No fair!
Say it louder for the people in the back. Yeah. It’s a moot point bc the trip is being privately funded so what’s then the point of the petition. There’s not one. And whew that lady talking about petty? Every word that comes out of her mouth drips with petty condescension but the Sussexes clarifying that they’re paying for their trip is petty? Sure, Jan. She comes across as a rather unpleasant Australian Karen.
“Why did they have to respond, that’s so petty ”
Ooooooh that’s so rich coming from the same people who spend all their time trying to poison the well of Harry and Meghan’s income stream! Who see nothing wrong with all the petty shit that chuckles and his lame brained other son have been doing to them for the last what? 8yrs. Pettiness is mine Harold!!
It would be funny if it wasn’t so sick and SAD.
That blond bioch looks like one of those who think that Harry should have picked her.
The statement just makes the derangers look stupid and unhinged. Good for Harry and Meghan.
I actually reported that change.org petition on the website because it is false and libelous. I sent change.org several articles saying so. Also, I noted that anyone around the world could sign the petition, so it in fact does represent Australians at all.
The petition is purely symbolic and should be ignored. Their spokesperson has already stated that this is a privately funded trip and whether it’s 34,000 signatures or ten million, the focus should be on what the trip hopes to accomplish. Also, only 300 seats were available for the retreat and I doubt any participants will be providing detailed accounts.
Last week that petition had fewer than 4,000 signatures and only picked up numbers because of the relentless publicity it has been given by the British media, which should give us a clue as to who started it. I’ve never heard of this so-called “advocacy” group before today.
I love the spokesperson’s response.
These deranged people are so stupid – do they think it’s a good look to be announcing to the world that “Australians” don’t want high profile visitors to their country to be protected and feel safe? I’m fairly certain that there are hundreds, if not thousands of people with high threat profiles who are guaranteed police protection whenever they visit Australia. That is the way of civilised countries with functioning and professional law enforcement.
This is also why William and his minions and those bots keep clamouring for the removal of the titles: they seriously believe that the only reason the Sussexes are being protected is because they are “royal”, rather than because of the VERY high threat profile they have, in large part thanks to William and his minions in the UK media and beyond.
I have to admit I did chuckle when reading that response. I think that’s the more direct I’ve seen from their spokespeople.
Humor and ridicule are some of the best weapons against stupidity, ignorance, and hate. For one thing, this is a very quotable clapback and it got lots of traction. I love not just that they’ve started to clap back, but that they clapped back here with humor.
